We were disappointed. We waited until our 'foodie' friends stayed to enjoy this 'new kind on the block' especially as it is Spanish as we both have children living in Spain. The service was bizarre. It was like we had to wait for appointed times for our menu etc. We arrived at 720 for a 730 table and no-one came to our table until 730 and then asked us if we wanted water. We then had to wait for a wine list and when we said we couldn't order the wine until we knew what we were eating there was no offer of a menu which it seems we could not get until we had ordered wine. The starters then took a long time to arrive as did the main and when we then had a wait for the dessert menu but which time it was 1015 and we had to leave for our booked taxi so we missed dessert. Maybe it is better if you go later as we noticed that later diners 'caught us up.' There was no main vegetarian course and only one starter. We had croquetas which were bland as was the Spanish omelet and the anchovy dish consisted of 8 small anchovies with no accompaniment. The main course of monkfish was overcooked and sitting on a watery bed of spinach with chewy bacon pieces and our guest's beef dish was two pieces of beef with a small dish of parmentier 'sauce'. There was no potato dish not even as a side which is strange as Spain is known for its many patatas dishes. It was expensive - £135 for two for two courses and there are many restaurants in the area which are much better value. Sadly we won't be returning. It wasn't awful enough to complain but it certainly wasn't what we thought it would be - sad that it wasn't.
Lunchtime visit at this lovely pub. Served by pleasant waiting staff and ordered from specials and main menu. Food absolutely first class and excellent value. Well worth a visit and highly recommended. Will certainly be back.
WE went last night as it was my birthday as i am Disabled my wife went to the bar and ordered my drink and her drink we sat down everyone was waiting for their drinks it took over 1 hour for the waiter to take everyone else drink order then it took a further 45 mins before he took everyone's food order it was a nice meal but took to long only 6 of us went and it was has half full this had been pr booked
I visited this shop last April while I was in town for a friend's wedding and it was such a delight! What an ingenuous idea... getting to sample tea before buying a larger quantity. A cute atmosphere to hang with girlfriends. You're even invited to bring your lunch! You're served cookies with all tea purchases.I was informed around Christmas time that the shop has closed. But now it looks like it's up and running again? New management and shop front? Omg I'll have to inform my friend in Birmingham. She sends the poor soul that is me teas. Great blend variety and quality!

On a Thursday night the normal dining area was packed and we retreated to a seperate characterless room where we ate solo. Food was normal pub standard but service was good .In essence this is a well liked local pub (hence the crowded dining area on a Thursday).
After experiencing the cafe on one of their club nights, myself and my husband were completely sold with Talton Mill Cafe as the venue for our wedding party. Fran and Liz headed the venue and their input was impeccable. Everything we loved about the place was brought to our day - a cosy vibe, relaxed, beautiful, and delicious! Everything on the menu was homemade and worked perfectly with the environment. Fran and Liz listened to our ideas and needs for the day and delivered. The weather wasn’t bad either!
My wife and I have just been to this pub for a drink. I had Pig on the Wall which was the same as usual. My wife had her usual which she has had there before many times. He drink is Erdiner alcohol free beer which she has a dash of lemonade in. This time her drink was cloudy and flat. Usually it is a pain to pour as it fizzes up with the lemonade. I took it back to the bar expecting to just have it changed. The bartender then said no that is how it is supposed to be flat and cloudy and refused to change it. What happened to customer satisfaction.? This means every other time my wife has had this drink there has been something wrong with it.
We chose to just leave the pub and we will just not bother to use it again as they seem to employ arrogant uneducated staff. Shame really as it is a nice pub. We will be using the Fairfield from now on.
