On a Thursday night the normal dining area was packed and we retreated to a seperate characterless room where we ate solo. Food was normal pub standard but service was good .In essence this is a well liked local pub (hence the crowded dining area on a Thursday).

Visit here regularly with children, family and friends and have always had quality food and service. It is not high class restaurant food in elegant surroundings but true honest pub cooking in a clean village pub. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the owner himself can't do enough to ensure you have a good visit, even the locals chat to you if you are eating in the bar. Have also taken elderly friends to there Wednesdays and Thursday lunches and don't know how they do the food for the prices they charge. Thanks all I'm recommending you to all my friends.

The Roebuck is in the centre of Brimfield, on what was the A49 until the village was bypassed. On Wednesdays and Thursdays they do a mid-week menu for both lunch and dinner - only £10 for 2 courses or £13 for 3, as well as their normal menu. At this price one doesn't expect Cordon Bleu, but the meal was excellent with a reasonable choice and vegetarian options. I started with Mackerel Pate followed by Chicken Pie and chips and my friend had Battered Mushrooms and Haddock with Tartare Sauce and New Potatoes. The vegetable for both main courses was garden peas - very acceptable at the price. As there had been a problem with the mains water following a burst locally, we were given a bottle of mineral water without charge. The service was prompt and friendly.

Stayed 3 nights - very good comfy clean and spacious room - well maintained - including cafietiere of coffee. Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent as was coffee. Opted to eat in pub at nighttime - there is no obligation - though you are well away from other eateries / Ludlow town. The menu is varied and food was very good and wholesome and again cooked to order. Shop next door had all the basics we needed for our walking days - including local pies. Very much a community based pub - Macmillan coffee morning took place whilst we stayed. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay

Popped in to look at the menu earlier in the day prior to booking. We were greeted by the Landlords mother who handed us the menu, unlocked the public bar area to let us sit down whilst we perused it. We were even offered a cup of tea/coffee. We booked for that evening and certainly weren’t disappointed. The food was excellent, the staff are very friendly and attentive. The desserts are all homemade and scrumptious. After an increasingly drenching walk near Ludlow, four of us adjourned to nearby Brimfield for a meal at the Roebuck. As has already been noted, parking is not easy but we did manage to find spaces not too far away. The Roebuck was quite busy and most of the diners (locals?) were having the fixed price midweek menu. Although we gave this serious consideration, in the end we all opted for main courses from the standard menu. We were all very satisfied with our respective choices: generous portions of good honest food. Service was friendly and efficient without being ingratiating. Only one of us had room for a dessert, but unfortunately the last portion of his chosen option had just been taken. The bill for 4 main courses with drinks (mainly non-alcoholic) came to just over £40 which we thought was very reasonable indeed. For anyone on a journey along the A49 on the Shropshire/ Herefordshire border it is certainly worth diverting off the main road into Brimfield for a meal at the Roebuck.

Hubby and I booked in for a Saturday lunchtime as we are looking for possible venues for an anniversary celebration at Xmas time. Friendly welcome. My other half asked if he could have a breakfast (bacon eggs etc as advertised on their web site, but not on the lunchtime menu), which the waitress wasn't sure about, but checked and it was ok (if it had been busy, he would have chosen something off the menu). I had quiche & salad, quiche very tasty. Both enjoyed our meal. The only down side - and I wouldn't take off a 'star' for it as it wasn't the fault of the pub - there was only 1 other table occupied, so no atmosphere, but where we dined would be lovely on a winters day/evening. The lady who bought our meals to the table (not sure if she is the cook too?) was also very pleasant. Nice big outside covered area for diners/smokers or just drinking of course. We said we were looking for venues, and was helpfully shown the the function room & had some questions answered. We came away happy anyway, so will probably be going back at some stage to perhaps book the function room, but have 1 or 2 more places to try and see first.

Arrived very early for our booking but we were made to feel very welcome, served with drinks and given a menu. There was a good choice of dishes, and we could have new potatoes, chips, salad, or veg to accompany the main course. I ordered beef lasagne and chose chips and salad to go with it, which when it came was a 'proper' beef lasagne, meaty and tasty. Everyone was friendly and helpful ,the chef came out of the kitchen to ask if everything was good (yes), the barman went to the cellar to check if he couild find my favourite drink (also yes!) and our waitress was really lovely, she made our evening a pleasure. For 2 main courses, 2 desserts, 2 coffees and 2 alcoholic drinks the bill was just under £40, but more importantly it was all very good indeed.

A friend and I visited on Tuesday evening and had a really good, home cooked lasagne. I had a nice portion of small new potatoes and a lovely selection of veg with mine, my friend had chips and salad. We both found our meal to be well cooked, tasty and filling.Desserts were a bit different than the usual pub fare, I had pear upside down pudding which was really lovely, slightly spicy and very moreish. My friend had a chocolate orange brownie with a cheesecake topping, sounds strange but it was really nice (she let me have a taste!). By the time we'd finished we were very very full!!The staff were lovely and the owner came out of the kitchen to make sure we were happy with everything, she was very friendly and we felt very comfortable and welcome there. We thought that the charges were reasonable and we both said we'd return, in fact I've already recommended it to several people.

It must be a couple of years that we last went to The Roebuck. Don't be fooled by the picture of the Sunday roast. We eat out every other Sunday, so feel we know a bit about a good lunch. This was dreadful. 2 small roast potatoes, broccoli which was yellow with a few tasteless carrots, some cauliflower cheese horrible,. Pale beef obviously cut on a machine. We were hungry as the portions were small. We were offered a free pudding but we prefered to leave and pay. What a disaster. I hate doing this as we know it can affect people business but if you serve up that sort of food you don't deserve to have a good review.

I was taken here by a friend with some of their family as I'd not been before. The place was empty of customers apart from 1 man sat at the bar. We stood at the bar and eyed up some drinks. My mobile went and I decided to take the call quickly and get back to choosing a drink. At this point the landlady stormed along the bar and barked at me "would you take that mobile outside?" in a very rude manner. I was gob-smacked, a bit embarrassed and a bit non-plussed. Apparently, the pub has a "no mobile" rule. Fair enough, if that's what they want for their establishment, no problem. My complaints are: 1. I couldn't see any sign or notice of such a rule. In my view, if you've got a rule like that, then at least communicate it. 2. There was really no need to be so rude. By nature, I'm a rule follower, so a quiet word would have done me fine and seen me comply. 3. There was practically no clientele to annoy, so why be so fastidious in enforcing it? You're in the Hospitality business, the clue is in the title!Needless to say, I left without buying a drink and won't be going back! This place certainly doesn't endear itself to potential new customers.

I do not normally have this problem when reviewing a resturant but we liked this pub so much we do not want to tell anyone else about it ! ! But we do feel that this Husband and Wife team deserve a big pat on the back for superb food and what is more a very welcoming greeting on our visit . We were so impressed that we returned two more times and by that time was being greeted by all the locals and the staff as old friends. The food is first class but the Chef does feel he is feeding the 40,000 so defeated us on the first night but we were able to get round this by having a starter and sweet on other nights. Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣
