Baserri in Warwick

We were disappointed. We waited until our 'foodie' friends stayed to enjoy this 'new kind on the block' especially as it is Spanish as we both have children living in Spain. The service was bizarre. It was like we had to wait for appointed times for our menu etc. We arrived at 720 for a 730 table and no-one came to our table until 730 and then asked us if we wanted water. We then had to wait for a wine list and when we said we couldn't order the wine until we knew what we were eating there was no offer of a menu which it seems we could not get until we had ordered wine. The starters then took a long time to arrive as did the main and when we then had a wait for the dessert menu but which time it was 1015 and we had to leave for our booked taxi so we missed dessert. Maybe it is better if you go later as we noticed that later diners 'caught us up.' There was no main vegetarian course and only one starter. We had croquetas which were bland as was the Spanish omelet and the anchovy dish consisted of 8 small anchovies with no accompaniment. The main course of monkfish was overcooked and sitting on a watery bed of spinach with chewy bacon pieces and our guest's beef dish was two pieces of beef with a small dish of parmentier 'sauce'. There was no potato dish not even as a side which is strange as Spain is known for its many patatas dishes. It was expensive - £135 for two for two courses and there are many restaurants in the area which are much better value. Sadly we won't be returning. It wasn't awful enough to complain but it certainly wasn't what we thought it would be - sad that it wasn't.

The food was fabulous, beautifully cooked, they have obviously sourced really good ingredients. The staff are friendly and welcoming, with great knowledge of what they are serving. The wines were really interesting and the selection was great. It was good to see that they were sourced from the area that the food comes from. I adore northern Spanish and Basque food do this was right up my alley. The iberico pork was just sublime. I have to give a special mention to the croquettas, my absolute favourite things

The starters were very tasty if overpriced, the puddings delicious, and there was a great drinks menu. However it was let down by the main courses, which were mostly just either fish or meat with very few vegetables, no carbs, and little sauce. Lovely staff and nice environment but could do with mains being a bit more special.

I was so happy to find a Basque restaurant not far away from where we live. I am from Bilbao so i know about Basque food. The food and service was great. We had the 7 tester menu and didn’t disappoint, we where both very full. I thought the croquettes, lamb, cure meats were great. The cheese cake for my taste need to be more cook. We had 2 bottles of Txakoli what i thought it was a bit overpriced but very nice. Overall excellent experience. We definitely be back probably for a special occasion

Modern immaculate interior. Very friendly, relaxing and knowledgeable service. The food is of another level. We had a great meal. Do try the anchovies and have the excellent crusty bread with it. Mushroom croquettes were a delight Monkfish was fab. Wine list led us to a bright and tasty Rioja. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Wow, just wow. My husband and I were absolutely blown away with the ambience, extensive list of wines and culinary delights of Baserri! We visited on a Wednesday evening and were delighted with the seasonal menu and the exceptional list of wines to boot! We went for the Octopus starter, beef cheek and spring lamb dishes for mains and the bread and butter pudding for dessert and each dish was truly exceptional. I would even go as far to say that it was the best bread and butter pudding I have ever had. We felt well looked after by the staff, nothing was too much to ask and they were on hand to answer questions and provide recommendations. Absolutely recommend and we can’t wait to go back with our friends!

A truly memorable dining experience. We were introduced to the culinary delights of the Basque region through the 7 course tasting menu. Exquisite food, knowledgeable and attentive service in a lovely setting. A real gem of a place and certainly will be back.

This is a great (fairly new) family run restaurant in Leamington spa, upmarket Spanish style cuisine. My friend and I visited as a belated joint birthday celebration. We were well looked after, they delt with my allergies appropriately and we're very helpful with suggestions and information. Would recommend for any special occasions.

We were contacted the day before our booking to say that the usual menu had been replaced by a tasting menu. We are vegetarians and I asked if the tasting menu catered for vegetarians and was told it did. In fact what we got was, to a v great extent, acrsnge of meat dominated dishes with the meat removed. When we asked if the price would be adjusted we were told it would not So we paid quite a lot of money for a rather unexciting meal.

Delicious food from the basque region of Spain. Imaginative, clean and well prepared dishes. Excellent wine list. Shut your eyes and may think you are sitting in a Bilbao restaurant!

Excellent and exquisite. This is a smart restaurant with stylish decor. The food and wine are both exceptional. The staff are polite and helpful. The only gripes are: 1. that the menus are printed in a tiny font. The specials menu was so 'fine' that even the waitress admitted she could not read it. 2. the hard wood floors and bare walls make for an elegant environment but afford no sound dampening so when it is busy (last night full and turning people away) it gets quite noisy. Notwithstanding the above, this is the best restaurant in Leamington and we will be back.

Went on a recommendation & we were very happy! We had the December menu, and it was full of simple, authentic Basque food. The owner and chef are from the Bilbao area, and it shows. My mum is from the same area and the food was like being transported back to my second home. Highlights: Croquettes- light, delicious Bilbao style hake - simple, light, melt in the mouth. Scallop - meaty and served with a delicious cauliflower purée Lamb - perfectly cooked Basque cheesecake- delicious !!

i had a lovely lunch at baserri today (thursday). The staff are very helpful and I was recommended the Spanish omelette, which i can say was the best omelette i have ever had. would recommend, best restaurant in leamington spa!!

Firstly I have to say, the food that we had was good. Nicely cooked and flavoursome. The service was also good, mostly attentive and friendly. However my issue came with the quantity/ value. We had croquettes to start with. The ham ones were lovely but the truffle ones lacked flavour and seasoning. The big issue was with the mains. I had the iberico pork with cabbage and sweet potato mash, all of which was delicious, however at £24 I would have expected more than 2 teaspoons of mash (it looked pretty but didn’t fill me up) and the pork was very small. My friends had different dishes lamb, Dover sole etc. none of which came with any potatoes. We haggled with the waitress and eventually were allowed to order a side dish of potatoes (not on the menu). We also ordered some garlic mushrooms which turned up looking like bog standard button mushrooms that would cost less than 50p and they charged £7.50. We all came away hungry. I would love to support small businesses in Leamington but will not be back here. Such a shame.

My wife and I were on a weekend visit to our son working in Lemmington. The interior design exudes calm and sophistication and we received a warm welcome from one of the great team members that Beatrice and Russell have assembled. We were well guieded and advised with our choices of food and drink and the results were fantastic. My starter of Cantabrian Sea Marinated Anchovies , Garlic and Parsely was simple, delicate and very well crafted and my main of Cornish Spring Lamb Tenderloin , red onion, black garlic toffee and sauted spring onions was well balamved and truly memorable. We were on a wonderfuul gastronomic journey and I had to finish off with a desert - the cold carmalised rice pudding was a real treat and great way to end the meal. The accompanynig wines were perfect. Having opened earlier this year, Beatrice and her team have achieved notable succes and fantastic results - a real gem for Leamington. Keep up the good work and we'll be back! P.S - we did go back a second night and had another memorale meal!! Thank you!!

We had heard good reviews about Baserri and were looking for somewhere a bit different to eat out at from the classic restaurant places to eat in the Warwick / Leamington area. Baserri certainly fitted the bill with a modern take on Spanish food. It’s located off the Parade in Park Street and only has a couple of dozen covers with very bright atmosphere. We went with friends who appreciate good food and fine dining and we came away really enthralled with the experience. Pleasant greeting, given a pre dinner drinks menu including a number of sherry options alongside a more than adequate wine list. Our waitress then talked us through the menu and we decided to go for a selection of starters which allowed us to create a tapas including a selection of croquets, sliced beef and prawn and tuna. All tasted superb and were beautifully presented. For mains we went for hake and octopus and had sides of peppers and mixed vegetables. Again so well presented and tasted superb. The other dishes being served all looked great, will try the red prawns on our next visit. Waitress helped us select wine and was spot on with suggestions given they are all Spanish names we hadn’t seen or heard of before. Had to finish with Basque cheesecake which was wonderful. It’s not a cheap night out but you get what you pay for and it was well worth the money. Check out the menu as there is plenty of choice and looking at the faces of the other people dining there they seemed very happy as well. Our friends wished there was something like Baserri near to them in Chipping Norton, it certainly is an experience we all really enjoyed. We have other friends visiting us in the next couple of weeks so will return.

The restaurant squeezed the two of us in when we booked for the following day so are very grateful. The rhythm of the service and attentive nature of the staff shined through and made us feel welcome even though we were effectively unannounced guests. Exceptional food perfectly balanced with wonderful depth of flavour and contrasting textures. The charcuterie selection was wonderfully fatty and packed with umami while the fresh bread mopped up delicate and fresh anchovies that lit up our faces. Only one exception to this was the seasonal vegetables dish that was very uninspiring, flat and bland but a small sumble on an otherwise exciting and moresh array. Definitely worth a visit for a celebration or romantic meal and are headed for success.

Light years away from the usual pimenton drenched Spanish restaurant experience. Unusual and delicious dishes of meat and fish, excellent choice of wines and finally a table service which is as it should be. Waiting staff are knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks, which is a sign of good training, something that very few restaurants bother with these days. Book now, you won’t regret it

A group of Spanish friends and I had the pleasure of trying this traditional Spanish restaurant! Great environment, wine and delicious food. Croquettes and octopus are a must, and the basque cheese cake couldn’t be better. happy to have this place now as our local!
