After experiencing the cafe on one of their club nights, myself and my husband were completely sold with Talton Mill Cafe as the venue for our wedding party. Fran and Liz headed the venue and their input was impeccable. Everything we loved about the place was brought to our day - a cosy vibe, relaxed, beautiful, and delicious! Everything on the menu was homemade and worked perfectly with the environment. Fran and Liz listened to our ideas and needs for the day and delivered. The weather wasn’t bad either!

We attended the recent barbecue evening, which was enjoyable but not quite as slickly organised as we'd hoped. The venue was rustic, an open air, but covered dining area that worked well. The food was delayed, but the band did not take the opportunity of filling the gap, so the evening started out with a long pause without food or entertainment. When the food was ready, it was served efficiently: lots of meat options, and very nice. But accompanied by supermarket bread rolls and salad - which seemed to be a missed opportunity. Also, the dessert was supermarket cheesecake and brownie. So, the food was not a culinary delight. There was a bar, with few non-alcoholic options. As the venue was remote, and needed cars to access, non-alcohol beer would have been useful. We saw the barman dip his hand into the ice bucket for the wine bottles to access ice for drinks which seemed dodgy hygiene. After dinner, the band started up, but seemed to be having trouble with their mixer, so it took a while before the atmosphere cranked up. Actually, the best part of the evening was the end, when the band loosened up, and the atmosphere was excellent.

We had our wedding reception at Talton Mill and it was wonderful. Fran and Liz where great the whole way through offering lots of reassurance and putting me at ease. The days itself was perfect the island was magical and the food was scrummy. If you’re looking for a charming spot without all the fuss of a traditional venue this is your place. Great food and drinks with a relaxed atmosphere.

This place has a real rustic charm about it, nestled in idyllic countryside by a little stream. It's lovely now and it's Winter, so my husband and I will definitely be returning back in the Spring and Summer. The two ladies that run the cafe are so friendly and welcoming, and the food was tasty and very generously portioned. I had a full breakfast and the high quality of the produce was obvious, especially the sausages! My husband had the special which was an Indonesian Penang curry. Again, superb and lots of flavour. The coffees we also both had hit the spot as well, and it was nice to see a local cafe using local coffee roasters. We will be back. Kate H

Place is a bit tired. First thing I noticed : everything outside is covered in green mildew. Ok its winter, but you still notice it. Doormat at front door was crooked, tired with leaves and twigs all over it and area unswept. Not important you may think, but is sets the tone and gets my antennae working. Inside : very pleasant attentive ladies behind the counter. Place pretty much deserted at lunchtime( Hmm !). Limited and expensive menu. Long wait for food. For crusty bread - read hard as rock. A huge pile of salad on a plate disguises not r an unspectacular dish. Altogether a very ordinary experience I am afraid. Which surpised and disappointed me. I suspect their breakfasts may be better than their lunches ?

Credit where it’s due indeed. How lucky we were to have found this excellent restaurant/cafe a few years back and have been regulars ever since...even though we live quite a few miles from Talton Mill the journey is well worth it. The English breakfast is outstanding with the Bacon and sausages produced from their own home reared free-range pigs and their own free-range eggs...I always have a portion of ‘Bubble and Squeak with my breakfast. Went to their recent ‘Roast-Beef sharing board’ event and as we are partial to a nice piece of beef with all the trimmings we were really looking forward to it....we were not disappointed....home reared beef with vegetables grown on the farm and Yorkshire puddings that even ‘out-classed’ my grandmothers...sorry Nan. Must ask them how they make their gravy....want that recipe. Well done Talton staff....who really looked after us. Can’t praise them enough....can’t wait for the next event.

My girlfriend and I returned to yet another amazing Roast Beef Supper Night at Talton Mill. We just love these events!! What a wonderful evening filled with fantastic food and great entertainment, the roast beef cooked to perfection along with delicious veg and roasties. The chocolate brownie pud was superb. The staff are always so helpful and happy. The entertainment for the evening was a live band who were truly excellent and created a wonderful atmosphere. We have already booked our tickets for the next event so are looking forward to it!

Roast Beef supper event such a disappointment. Overcooked beef. Burnt roast potatoes. Yorkshire’s like flat squidgy pancakes. Bland veg ( may have been a catering pack). The brownie pudding so hard you couldn’t get a spoon into it. Tables packed together no elbow room. Service so slow arrived at 7:00 and got luke warm food around 9:00 pm. They now have a pay for bar. Over priced bottles of beer, you used to be able to take your own alcohol. Never again. Lots of people complaining. We spent almost £100 with drinks, we could have had a nice meal at a lovely pub nearby for that, rather than being crammed into a wooden hut with hard chairs and harsh lighting.

I hired Talton Mill for my 40th birthday party, with 40 guests. Everyone loved the setting and atmosphere in the informal cafe, and there was space for children to run around and enjoy the stream outside. We were provided with lots of great food - a bbq of meat from the farm and range of salads, plus amazing chocolate brownie and pavlova. The team were so helpful in all the organising, and I look forward to returning.

I had a wonderful birthday lunch here with a group of 8 friends. We sat outside, where my friends children enjoyed the chickens and playing poo-sticks over the stream. We all enjoyed a very generously portioned lunch, with the pork and beef coming from the farm. With provenance being very important to me, this was a real highlight. GF and vegan friends were catered for without any issue. Lovely friendly service. Highly recommend.

We visited the cafe as we pass their sign most days and like to visit local places. The welcome was friendly and the coffee and tea were very good. I was looking forward to the bacon "sarnie" and expecting some lovely crusty farmhouse bread with thick bacon considering the £5.95 price tag. So was disappointed with the 2 slices of regular sliced bread and bacon, which needed the fat taking off. This is in a lovely quiet spot, and can only comment on what I eat but for what I had I know I can get better elsewhere and sadly will not be visiting again. Disappointed!

We arrived at the location it was wet & windy, the cafe is what looks like 3 sheds sat near the entrance to a farm, we weren't sure if it was the correct place at first, we parked up & headed in & were pleasantly surprised, its cosy & has a cottage feel about it, shortly after being sat at our table we had our orders taken by the friendly staff, my wife ordered the Full English £8.95 ( 2x Bacon, 1x Sausage ,1 Egg, Beans, Tomatos, Mushrooms, 2 Slices Toast) I had the Extra Full English £12.95 (2x Bacon, 2x Sausage ,2 Egg, Beans, Tomato's, Mushrooms, 2 Slices Toast, Black Pudding) i did think the Extra breakfast was expensive but ordered it to see, well when it arrived i wasn't expecting two giant sausages which felt a bit to much but if i’d ordered the other breakfast & added Black Pudding at £1.50 your paying £1.50 for an extra giant sausage & an extra egg which make it not to bad but drinks are on top, i would expect free Tea & Coffee with the breakfast as my breakfast ended up being £16! we also wanted to order food for our 2 year old & asked for an Omelette & yet again another place that DONT make them, i don't see how its so hard & time consuming to make an omelette, its really not! Anyway we ordered scrambled eggs on toast for him, food was served reasonably quick but our little boys food was served last which you always hope is first as it can be hard work trying keep him occupied but as soon as food arrived he was happy as larry, the food in general was very good & was proper local farm butchers ingredients, but the bacon was a little over cooked & abit chewy but I'm sure it was an off day.

Artisan cafe on a farm in an informal setting in the countryside serving breakfast ,brunch and lunch on Fridays and Saturdays only. The cafe was busy when we visited- not surprising given the quality of the brunch. Food is cooked to order so it can take a little while if they are busy- but well worth the wait. All meat is from the farm- reared and cured. The bacon and sausages were delicious. Add on the bubble and squeak! Portions are generous with plenty of warm buttered toast. A proper farmhouse breakfast. Visit the farm shop when you have the finished- the steak we bought was some of the tastiest we have ever had!

We had a delicious family lunch in The Mill Woodhouse Cafe at Talton Mill. I had delicious pulled pork in a brioche bun, my wife loved her slow cooked shredded beef in a ciabatta roll with a ‘dollop’ of horse radish creme fraiche. Both were served with an eye catching selection of tasty salads. Our kids chose the Talton Full English breakfast. My! What a treat! Home cured bacon from their own pigs, sausages from the same and all the trimmings. It was a proper farm breakfast. Their helpful and friendly staff were super too. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're down this way! There were a huge selection of home baked cakes that were just made to such delicious perfection - my only regret was not having more Tiffin. Our daughter gave us a voucher for a summer lunch; this included soup, sandwiches, sausage roll and scone. The food was excellent and the service if slow (we didn't mind at all) very friendly. We were surprised to be given a voucher for a dozen eggs from the adjacent farm shop if we bought £10 worth of goods. This was easy to do as the quality of the goods there matched that of the cafe. Given that the area is very beautiful we felt the ambiance was not first class and had a run down feeling about it. However, the experience was a good one and good value overall. If coming from Stratford try to take the first marked turn to Talton Mill as the second was confusing.

I've visited this museum house with my EFL students (mainly European) in the past. It was always a good experience. The 17-century building was always comfortable. The students learnt about Shakespeare's daughter, the important ' health work' that her husband did and their difficult lives. The tour guides were always knowledgeable (and kind to my students). The garden was beautiful. When convenient we had lunch in the cafe - the service was always very good and the food was always delicious.

The drinks are fine , cakes are fine and the venue is fine but sweet Lord the server a middle aged lady with glasses and greying hair is abrupt and unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Think Basil Fawlty on a bad day. If you don't want to be pleasant get a different job. To be fair we are normally served by someone quite nice.
