Really lovely food and amazing service. However, the whole experience was marred by the toddlers running around and screeching. Along with some extremely loud adults who appeared to be the children’s parents. We were told by staff that this wasn’t usual but it was a lot to cope with during our evening meal. Would return to try to food again and hope that isn’t how the pub usually is.

Had a wonderful and tasty meal cooked by Ethan in the kitchen who personally came out to ensure it was cooked to our specifications and brought to our table by equally polite and courteous staff. My steak was cooked perfectly to my requirements and the desserts really were the icing on the cake, both mouth watering and plentiful. Pippa could not have been any more charming and welcoming. A truly delightful experience and well worth a visit.

Fabulous service from initial phone booking to the most welcoming greeting and throughout the whole meal making for a wonderful family lunch. We couldn’t have wished for more. My little granddaughter’s dairy-free meal was treated with the utmost care and without fuss. All of the meals were delicious, beautifully prepared, cooked and served and the staff are exemplary. Drinks very good too, with well kept beer. Have to mention the chocolate and red wine cheesecake oh my…. it was out of this world! Thank you Peacock team. We will definitely be back.

I have eaten in The Peacock several times and never been disappointed, however I took a friend there on Thursday evening and was very disappointed with the food served. The pub was busy and we had to wait for a table so we enjoyed a drink while we waited an hour for a table to be available. The table we were seated at had been free since we arrived so we were confused as to why we'd had to wait so long. Due to the time we both opted for a starter and desert and ordered soup of the day, Potato and Leek, which took a long time to be served, when it arrived it didn't look appetising and when tasted it was very disappointing. Texture was very thick and glueppy, grey in colour and had little flavour, we seasoned it which made little difference. My friend finished hers with the bread accompanying it although didn't enjoy it, I had a couple of spoonfuls and left the rest. The following day we both had upset stomach's as a result of whatever was in the soup. I have recommended The Peacock to my local WI Craft Group for their Christmas lunch in early Dec which they have now booked, but I am now having serious reservations about my recommendation and they may consider booking another venue to avoid disappointment. Whatever happened on Thursday evening I sincerely hope was an isolated incident and we were just unfortunate.

A Gem in the English Countryside! Our visit to this delightful pub was a highlight of our holiday. The food is simply outstanding! With a variety of specialties and unique ingredients, the creative combinations create an aromatic harmony that is a true delight for the taste buds. Every bite was a culinary adventure and absolutely delicious. The service deserves special mention. The staff were not only incredibly friendly and attentive but also extremely knowledgeable, especially when it came to portion sizes. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and exceptionally well looked after. We give a full 5 stars in every category! We’re already looking forward to our next visit and can't wait to return. So, a kind of meh experience. Visited as a party of 6 with reservation a few hours before. Not greeted on arrival. Waited ages at the bar, to be told that’s our table, someone will be over to take orders. Again waited ages for the order and then even longer for drinks to arrive! Over half an hour from walking in. Food menu good however execution disappointing. Child menu uninspiring, same everywhere these days. All Burgers came way too overcooked! I prefer well done especially in burgers but this was way practically crisp. All 3 burger eaters agreed. Chicken, leek and Taragon pie, sauce too watery and unable to taste the taragon. Main courses were a disappointment. Starters very good namely camanbert and the Asian meat/prawn starters. Service was sooo slow and not overly friendly apart from one lady who was great with my daughter and really made the effort. Satisfied. Left Full and happy with price paid. It was the service bar one staff member that let it down and the mains. Probably would go elsewhere in future if back again

I had arranged beforehand with The Peacock for a Sunday lunch for 9 people + 2 dogs - we were able to pre order which was very helpful for both the pub & us! This is our 4th visit & by far & away the best (none however, have been anything other than good!) - the staff went over & above to make our visit such a delight which was great because it was the 1st time our family had gathered together for a year & we were celebrating 3 birthdays! I'd asked if we could bring a cake & that was arranged - the staff kept the cake in the kitchen until the end & brought it out replete with candles & singing! The food was excellent - especially the vegetarian Sunday roast - the portions were quite big & well cooked. The children were very happy with their burgers & ice cream! A big thank you to all the staff for making it an extra special Sunday lunch!

Each month my husband and I along with our neighbours pick a ‘local’ pub for a Sunday lunch. Today’s choice was very special. The building looks welcoming and the serving team were very polite and approachable. But without lessening their role in this (the servers), it was that kitchen staff that trumped it all. Or meat trio Sunday roast was something special and our malteser cheesecake and malva pudding were both gorgeous. We are planning on returning for the pie nights and the opportunity to sit outside in the peace and tranquility. But the biggie here - we will be on the lookout for the Christmas menu and booking dates. I think we have picked our special end of year treat. Thank you to everyone at the Peacock for a very enjoyable lunch.

Booked the Xmas festive menu for 13 people. It’s my local, but I have to say…..wow! Sophie, and the team on the night were just so attentive, courteous and professional. The food was really well presented, hot and tasty. Given that some had starters, some didn’t, likewise with desserts, the courses were served in a very timely way. So well organised despite the mayhem of everyone having a really good time. Great pub, great food, great atmosphere, great team of staff, great village. Nothing else to say really.

Two stars sounds harsher than 5.7/10 —— It was ok. Arancini starter was promising and all but still looked a little bit lacklustre being served on just a bed of wilting rocket with some aioli - lemon wedge would’ve been nice. Nice arancini though but some presentation with fresh, aspiringly local ingredients ideal However, for the price the mains were a bit of a let down. We had Thai salmon and roast duck. I initially ordered the salmon but seen as my mother was not enjoying the duck and this was meant to be a treat for her birthday, I said I’d swap with her as I preferred the duck (dutiful son lie). The duck was meant to be served with an orange jus - and I initially thought this would be something like duck à l'orange with a nice thick and bighty sauce. But the orange sauce was just a bit weak and didn’t really taste of much, and was just served with some clementine slices - so therefore the rest of the dish lacked any taste as also the meat wasn’t really seasoned and didn’t have what looked like an appetising sear on their either. Mash was decent but overall a bit deflating as who can mess up mashed potato? The Salmon was a bit more promising, but to be honest, looked a little bit undercooked in the centre, also needed some seasoning and could’ve been served with some more powerfully flavoured rice. Also the bowl of greens, which were things like raw cabbage and carrots with soy sauce didn’t seem very inspired to me. Additionally, the Thai sauce with which the salmon was served lacked quite a bit of flavour. That seems to be the common theme for the night that the most prominent, and inviting notes in the dish need to shine through more as everything was a bit on the bland side. It just needs a bit of a quality overhaul. Ambience, really nice and we like sitting in the bar. Lovely pub with lovely staff. Looks great inside and everything was snappy, but food was just a bit of a let down. Lovely for a local drink as we are less than three minutes away. Lovely roaring fire.

The food served at the Peacock Oxhill is consistently good, but this traditional English country pub is also great if you just want a few drinks. It’s well worth while keeping an eye out for The Peacock‘s FB posts To ensure you don’t miss out on special live events that usually happen on a monthly basis. Live music performed by talented artists is always an excellent way to spend an evening. When these events are performed in a traditional pub setting, the experience is all the more enhanced. The Peacock is a lively vibrant venue at the weekend, but offers, relaxation during the week. So whatever you want The Peacock in Oxhill offers great value in a superb setting.

The closets place to go was the peacock in oxhill, we had a lovely walk through the public paths to the pub. This pub was a very lovely pub, it had great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and welcoming, the place was very warm and cosey, Me and my friends then ordered food and it was amazing for our starter we had a camembert sharing starter, this was amazing and it fed all 5 of us and they gave us extra bread which was really nice, I then had the haddock and chips . let me tell you the chips was amazing they was these gorgiuse crunchy thick cut chips which tasted like heaven it was the best i have ever tatsed. To the point I can't stop thinking about them they was just too good, the hadock was really good aswell and then for my dessert i had the hot brownie with icecream, this was amazing aswell, if you are ever in oxhill or near oxhill I would recommend this pub complety for drinks and food and one day i will hopefully be able to return to ordef rom them again.

What a great surprise, had planned to visit Farnborough Hall (National Trust - great) and was looking for somewhere for a light lunch nearby (The Peacock is less than 10 mins away). Small cosy Bar and larger Dining Area. A warm welcome and smile from the young Barlady (and waitress). We shared three starters and a very decent bottle of Pino Grigio. 26.50 The three starters Bruchetta, Sliced courgette, Olive Oil, raita - gourgeous, fresh flavours 6.95 Hummus & harissa roasted carrots pomegranate & hazelnut dukka spice, flatbread - wonderful textures and flavours 7.95 and Lamb koftas toasted flatbread, cucumber & mint tzatzik 9.95 - very flavoursome and quite spicy All were beautifully presented and yummy - were we tempted to repeat them all again - yes - did we NO! More than enough for a light lunch For anyone reading this who has heard of Otelenghi in London - these starters were very much in this style. I would say, even better. Prices are not cheap BUT Quality exceptionally high Visit and enjoy

We only stopped for a drink, but had the best ever Butty Bach (my favourite beer). Beats that at both Bitter and Twisted and The Lion. It’s a beautiful, old fashioned country pub. There’s a small grassed rear garden with benches and limited seating at the front, where the view is beautiful. It was busy in the evening, and it’s understandably popular. The barman was friendly, unfortunately everything we ordered was unable , so I had calamari to start with , the batter was heavy and oily needs to be cooked at hotter temperature . I chose a chicken, bacon and avocado salad . I could hardly find the avocado, chicken was in two large pieces and two hole slices of bacon . All should of been chopped up and mixed in with the salad .The salad was bog standard lettuce with one large boring tomato in pieces. There was no dressing but for a dribble of balsamic syrup. So salad was dry . I asked for some more dressing and was given a small jug with yellow oil and some balsamic syrup in the bottom with mustard seeds unmixed , in fact I tried to mix it with my fork . it tasted horrible . Having been away for a few days and had many varieties of lovely exciting and delicious salads that were tossed in some freshly made dressings , all in a variety of flavours , I have to say I couldn’t eat this meal . My husband settled for a steak with twice cooked chips because they had no duck left , chips were greasy , one mushroom and very small salad . This was not a cheap alternative.. So don’t think we will be going back there again.

We had a wonderful evening in The Peacock on Saturday evening - I wanted to leave a nice review as a token of our appreciation. Food was fantastic, really really good. Good size portions, everything was fresh and testy, had nice specials as well as traditional pub grub done well. Drinks were fresh and a great selection. And overall the service was brilliant - couldn't do enough for us. And when the bill came we were shocked to see just how reasonably priced this was!We stayed in a local campsite for the night so this was a lovely walking distance on a cracking evening. Would highly recommend this place to anybody - and the surrounding area is lovely as well. Keep up the great work guys.

Only my 2nd visit here as it's not on my doorstep, but celebrating an anniversary, and was not disappointed. The owner is friendly, helpful, relaxed and offeres brilliant service. We loved our starters and mains, the wine was superb, and the place is contemporarily rustic. If you have'nt been yet, what are you waiting for ??

One of the best meals I've ever had and delivered to us at our campsite. We had 5 different meals and they were all great. Thank you 😁

Over the last three weeks, we've had three takeaways from The Peacock. We collected two and, for the third, took advantage of the free delivery service. In total, we've had 12 dishes (not including starters and deserts) and every one has been absolutely spot on. Lovely food, carefully prepared and presented. It's hard to recommend any specific dish as they are all first-class but the steaks, pies and chicken skewers have gone down well with our family! For those collecting food, The Peacock operates a well thought-out system to ensure social distancing between customers and staff and, by using allotted collection times (spaced at 10 minute intervals), no two sets of customers are on site at any one time. We're really keen to try The Peacock 'for real' when it re-opens after the current crisis. In the meantime, we're continuing to enjoy the take-aways!

Had a takeaway for my 40th birthday last weekend. I was very impressed with both the food and how seriously they were taking covid 19 (social distancing, clear evidence of excellent hygiene, etc). Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We visited on Saturday lunch time for my Dad’s Birthday. The food was amazing, I can’t believe how perfect the menu is, we actually found it difficult to choose what we are having as everything was delicious. Even the kids left the plates empty. We will definitely be back.

Disappointing this time around. Online ordering was difficult (spam verification page kept popping up). Toast underdone, grit in mushrooms, watery scrambled eggs with too much chives, not sure the sausages were good (slight sour taste). Great atmosphere though. Might just be me, but there are many other places serving good breakfast nearby.

I've visited this museum house with my EFL students (mainly European) in the past. It was always a good experience. The 17-century building was always comfortable. The students learnt about Shakespeare's daughter, the important ' health work' that her husband did and their difficult lives. The tour guides were always knowledgeable (and kind to my students). The garden was beautiful. When convenient we had lunch in the cafe - the service was always very good and the food was always delicious.

One of the best cellars of the UK. Great team, great selection, Great prices. You are looking for quality wines, must add, high quality wines ... this is the place ! They did not change prices of some grand crus from Burgundy ! Wine is passion and this place is showing such a remarkable selection of fine winemakers, with the love of the owner and its team ... GO !
