The Bridge in Stratford-on-Avon

Wonderful restaurant right on the bank of the Avon river. Small and cosy with super reliable food time and time again. Great for Sunday lunch, a mix of traditional and other modern dishes for startes and mains. Some great wines as well. Wonderful roast duck typically on the Sunday menu, and whilst a little pricey as a supplement, it is to die for. Great selection of specials make this great value restaurant ever interesting! UPDATE on new years day after a fab lunch on Christmas eve......pictures from New Years eve. Whatba perfect way to start the final festivities; a casylual country ramble to The Bridge Inn with my son for Christmas Eve lunch! Second in, we mused over the original yet familiar menu, side by side with an innovative Christmas special menu with a cheeky Peroni. I went for the seared scallops with crispy bacon served on a perfect complimenting crushed pea base... the scallops were perfectly cooked with a thin crispy Crust but succulent body and roe. My son had the perfect poached egg on a festive and rich black pudding potato cake. For mains, my son chose the satisfying steak burger, whilst I went for an old favourite, veal Holstein. The saltiness of the anchovies perfectly enhancing the egg and bed of freshly wilted spinach. I finished off with the traditional Christmas pudding, whilst my son opted for the ample assiette de fromage, with which we finished the velvety Cotés du Rhone. It's such a delight to visit the Bridge and I am looking forward to New Years day lunch for exactly the above reasons. Living in the surrounding areas to Bidford, we should be so appreciative of such a jewel in the culinary crown, without the need to hike of to Birmingham or Cheltenham along with the taxi fares and or drinks restrictions that that might incur. The Wetherspoons, Fullers and McDonald's of this world will always be there as long as punters have cash to spend, but like Purnells in Birmingham which has vapourised taking £38k of future customers money with them, we should all savor the delights of local excellent cooking such as this for as long as possible, and hopefully beyond the Bridges 20 year anniversary in 2025..... or risk being restricted to a baron culinary landscape in the future! Super, time after time and great value!

Had an absolutely lovely lunch at The Bridge with my wife and two sons. The restaurant was quite busy and had a lovely bustling vibe while also being very relaxing and calming with wonderful views of the bulging River Avon. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and made us all fell very welcome. We ordered Salmon to start with Roast Turkey, Fish and Chips and a burger for main. All served fresh and hot and very tasty. The quality of the fish a real highlight. Definitely recommend

A warm welcome, super food and a view of the November sun shining on the river - you really can’t better it. All four of us enjoyed our meals and the wines are always also excellent. We all chose from the set menu of two courses for £20, which is very good value. Highly recommended.

Visited the bridge recently with 3 girl friends. We had the most lovely afternoon. The food was amazing. We all opted for the prix fixe menu - 2 courses for £20. My fish stew was so delicious followed by mint choc ice cream sundae which was 2 die for. We were sat at a table overlooking the river avon. Our waitress was delightful. We were not rushed at all and felt so relaxed. Thank u 2 all at the bridge who made our visit so enjoyable. Cannot recommend highly enough. Luckily this amazing restaurant is on my doorstep.

This place is a real favourite of ours. We are happy to spend over an hours drive to get there. The staff are so kind and welcoming. Service is always good with lots of smiles no matter how busy they are. Now the food: excellent menu with choices that always excite. Some favourites are, kidneys in a mustard sauce, calves liver and sea bass AND roast duck is amazing. What brilliant chef.

Booked for lunch & arranged after a lovely local walk with friends. The staff were so friendly & nothing was too much trouble, the food was so delicious there was a real good selection of choices on their menu. Freshly cooked & very tasty. We all had the two course menu as we was out for dinner in evening also. Highly recommend we will be back.

As part of my job I have to accompany my boss to meetings.... The Bridge is restaurant of choice. ( luckily) The interior/ exterior are attractive and nicely proportioned. Staff attentive and helpful. And the food ..... mmmm 😋 The group usually have 2 course and coffee/ Started with fresh bread and butter .... which I try and never manage to resist. I chose Cod with crayfish Beurre blanc followed by crème brûlée 🍮 with raspberry sauce. No fault found at all ... just delicious and perfectly cooked. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of the food served. Booking is recommended and a small upstairs room can comfortably seat private parties maybe up to 20? Not sure exactly.

Really poor attitude by management The manager (gentleman) was incredibly rude and curt. We were made to feel an inconvenience.

Visited for the 1st time, food was great, and the service was great too. Family members have moved into the village, so we will be back soon.

First rate in respect of food, service and location. Mid-price. We would need to go more frequently however, to find out how often they change the menu. Our only criticism is to wonder why on earth it is called an eaterie - ugh!

We enjoyed an excellent supper meal at the Bridge The starters were all excellent with fresh bread that was heavenly. The mains were also perfect and with some of the hottest, best french fries we have tasted in a long time. Could not try the puddings as were were all too full. NOT ONLY IS IT A BEAUTIFUL SPOT TO BE BUT THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS SUPERB We were greeted by lovely staff and sat outside, shortly after we were moved inside due to a shower. The menu was a good cross section of starters and mains , we chose ham hock terrine and crab and langustine for starters, very good. Then for mains we went for the calves liver, this was exceptional. This chef knows what he is doing. I can also recommend the crumble and the cherries and cherry ice cream. Well done all

Wonderful evening meal sat outside on terrace overlooking the river. Not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but worth paying a little more as food was superb, service was attentive (without interrupting our conversation) and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere; we ate later in the evening and it was fairly quiet (& child-free!).

Good quality restaurant, the food was really delicious. I enjoyed my starter and dessert very much. My main was nice, not bad, I had chicken so it's always hard to flavour chicken I think. Presentation of each dish was great. They give you bread at the start of the meal which is a nice touch. Service was good - they added some things to our bill that weren't ours by mistake and when we brought it up, they fixed it straight away. The price was quite high I thought but it was a very nice restaurant and maybe I'd feel different if I had a different main. Overall, I'd highly recommend coming here and would visit again if I was in the area.

I went to The Bridge tonight for my Birthday meal. It was a great experience, with fantastic food and service. I would highly recommend The Bridge for a lovely dining experience!

Enjoyed a delicious lunch here today. The fixed price menu is great value for money. Food and service were excellent and the riverside location is lovely. Although this is an hour from home it was well worth the journey and we will definitely visit again.

Patrick and Team, you worked so hard to make it a fantastic evening for our annual celebration of good friends and neighbours. Food and wine was exemplary and service to match for 37 of us. Outstanding food and service - yet again. The quality of the food, the way it is cooked and served is always extremely high quality. The staff have the right balance of professionalism, efficiency and friendliness without being over familiar.

Expensive and limited menu. Food good

We had a lovely lunch, good choices on the menu. Great to see so much fish and seafood. Tasty food. Nice to have bread on the table too which is rare these days. Only minor criticisms are the lack of draught beer and chardonnay wine, and it was difficult to get the staff’s attention at times, tho they were nice and professional. We will definitely return and would recommend.

Fantastic food and great service Well worth visiting

What a beautiful location right on the canal. We were on a narrow boat and were able to tie up close by for lunch. Huge location, inside and out and even outside with a tent over it to protect from the weather. The menu is extensive and lots of on tap beer and cider.

Excellent place for top quality food a d service with very professional staff. Shame whole evening spoilt by a very obnoxious and abusive customer in a wheelchair shouting abuse at a young waiter who very professionally said nothing but ma agement should have been there to ban him from ever coming again. im sure establishments get the odd complaining moany customer but this was next level stuff and i would protect a d support my staff from accepting this level of abuse from anyone paying customer or not.

What a lovely meal. Scallops followed by aubergine curry for me and fish pie for him. We eat out a lot and enjoy fine dining. The food here was up among some of the nicest we have had in a long time. Shame its 200 miles from home otherwise we would be there a lot! Thank you to all the staff and compliments to the chef.

Superb lunch yesterday. Quality of food, wine and service was exemplary as always - The Bridge was the perfect choice in every way for our celebration; dining here feels special - more so than eating in a pub however, it’s FANTASTIC value with an interesting and varied menu to suit all tastes and budgets. My visitors were most impressed. Well done Patrick and team. So proud to have such a gem of a restaurant in our lovely village.

We arrived in a narrowboat, looking forward to booking for a special meal. Walking round to the garden we were rudely apprehended by an older waitress who asked if she could help in a less than welcoming manner. It felt more like an interrogation than a welcome. We were then curtly reminded that any idea of eating with them would need to be booked and she departed. So did we.

Highly recommend this place. The food is simply amazing, cooked to perfection. The staff are delightful and attentive. We will definitely return when back in the area. The riverside location adds to the atmosphere, with a gorgeous decked area on the first floor overlooking the river.

Excellent food, well presented. We chose a festive menu, however, the atmosphere was lacking any festive feeling even though all the diners were having a good time and looked as though they were celebrating Christmas. Very attentive and understanding service. Will definitely return in the new year, hopefully with a warmer welcome. So far...best food in Bidford on Avon. Would like to see more Vegan options, that would enable me to bring the whole family at least 4 times a year !!

This food was really exquisite, and the view of the old stone bridge and river from the windows or patio, is so relaxing. We all had a beautiful meal and the food and service were very high quality.

Excellent meal in a charming riverside location with great personal service. From the outside this looks like a general pub but is in fact a top class restaurant. It is not particularly big inside but the tables are decently spaced to give an element of privacy. The menu reflects the bespoke high quality of the food and includes some delicious fish options. On the day we went there was also a, 'specials' menu, again with some good fish options. The service throughout was first class. Highly recommended.

Lovely garden terrace with views of the river. However, staff unfriendly and food poor considering price. Kitchen in view which is good except you can see and hear the microwave ovens pinging away! I expect this was why the chicken was unevenly heated and tough as old boots! Such a shame…

Restricted menu options where they'd sold out, slow service on things like water refills and the bill, and unhelpful when we asked if we could also have coffee and sit outside to drink it. Food was ok but nothing special.

Had a surprise birthday dinner for my partner here. All the staff were fantastic, keeping a cake and flowers delivered by others for presentation after the meal. What a fantastic meal too. My greatest appreciation for all the effort everyone put in to make our night a huge success.

4 of us had dinner, non of us enjoyed it. The sea bass was particularly horrible. At a time when going out is a luxury, spending over £150 on a night out for awful food is really upsetting. Avoid The Bridge.

Service is good but the food was way overpriced for what it was. We had smalls and some daily special starters. I was surprised that the wild mushrooms were served on shop sliced bread not even a properly backer one. The meatballs were cold and dry. Tempura prawns were nice, but scallops were undercooked. Scallops should either be raw for sushi or cooked to perfection or they taste fishy. The garnish with them was rubbish. Few leaves of iceberg lettuce (unforgiving) and some orange. No proper saws or relish. I can't state for main courses as we didn't go for it. The bill did not reflect the quality of food. I'm disappointed to say the least, especially that it was my son's birthday and i took him out for a meal. I think we both would have enjoyed Fish and Chips more. Maybe the menu would have worked with an individual who doesn't know good food, but I do.

Great location-friendly staff but very disappointed with food. Ordered char grilled flat iron steak. Steak was cold when it arrived. Very tough and to me quite tasteless. I was only asked if all was Ok when my half full plate was collected.

My partner treated me to a lovely meal at The Bridge for my birthday. We had a table on the outside terrace right on the river front. Varied choice on the menu including small plates. Food was great. Friendly service. Well impressed!

We had a glorious family birthday lunch on Sunday. The food was delicious and the service very efficient yet unobtrusive and friendly. Perfect.

Four of us had Saturday lunch which was excellent , with very helpful and cheerful service. We were given a table inside with a great view of the river . It was too cold and damp to eat outside on the terrace.

We visited the Bridge as it was recommended to us and we were very impressed. The menu was limited but obviously all freshly cooked. Service was very good and prices were very reasonable. The views of the river were a further bonus.
