After changing to The Copper Grill with a casual dining menu majoring on burgers and wings this was our first visit. The food and service were excellent. I am a bit of a wings geek and the Buffalo wings here were excellent - as good as I’ve had anywhere. Only downsides are that the menu is a little limited - maybe add some ribs and steaks. Opening on a Sunday with a funky Sunday offer would also be a plus I’m sure 👍

Proper country pub. Lovely staff with a fire warming the bar. Food was brilliant, we had incredible Burgers with delicious sides of Truffle and Parmesan fries and Corn on the Cob ‘ribs’ with locally sourced and fresh ingredients! Well worth a visit!!

Super cosy pub with warm welcome and great atmosphere.

Delicious burgers, chips, corn ribs, cauli wings. Staff really friendly and great atmosphere on a Friday night The staff had gone all out for Halloween with pumpkins etc, and there were Halloween specials on the menu too. All added to a great vibe. Pictured one of the Halloween Burgers - delicious! We took our dog Barney and he was given lots of attention :) All in all: a lovely place to go when travelling to the Cotswolds!!

We come up from east London to visit family on regular basis and this is what a proper pub is all about , friendly , good service good range of local beers . Plus you have a bonus of straps on the ceiling so you don't fall over when you have had to many 😂😂 superb little pub

Copper Mill, has taken over as the food provider, it us excellent. Had wings, wife had burger, dirty chips were excellent as well. Its only week two, however I would expect to book in the future. Excellent service, food and the beer the best just as normal.

Thai now closed 😩 A lovely traditional village pub, serving excellent quality authentic Thai food. The bar has a good selection of real ales, local lager and ciders. As someone who really appreciates authentic Thai food, made with quality ingredients, I really enjoyed my lunch at the Black Horse Shipston. There is also a nice garden at the rear to sit in and appreciate the warmer weather. I will definitely be back.

Having discovered there was a Thai restaurant nearby we went to find it. Hidden amongst a modern estate is a thatched pub The Black Horse. Looked fine from outside so made it an option for another day. Reviews were good and booked a table. On entering it was a very nice, and busy, local unfortunately serving locals first and with little effort to acknowledge us. The restaurant was unassuming and not professionally staffed, it would have benefited from a good dusting though it wasn’t off putting. Waiting for food we had no idea what we were in for but the food was fantastic. This is a great local but needs a bit of TLC in the restaurant and it would be heaving. Food much better than a Thai chain we tried recently.

Great Thai restaurant. Unusually for us we kept it simple and went with the set menu. Great staff and the added advantage being a pub with a good selection of ales and spirits if your looking for something different.

First time we visited this pub after it was recommended for its Thai menu. My husband really enjoyed the beer they had on tap, and the Thai food was great, we will go back soon! Nice pub garden too.

Having booked in for the Thai restaurant with my hubby we were sat at a table next to a party of ladies celebrating a birthday. They were loud even at 7pm so our lovely waitress offered to find us somewhere else to sit. Being a Saturday night the pub was very busy but she found us a table where we could sit and talk to each other without having to shout. First time trying Thai so she helped us with the menu and we both had absolutely delicious meals. Pub had a lovely atmosphere, full of people enjoying themselves. Great place to go.

I went to the Black Horse on Friday for pre birthday drinks and tea and I ordered the seafood salad for the first time in a while and it was fabulous and I had a pint of HillClimb the quality of the food and beer was exceptional as always and the service was fabulous if you love Thai Food you have got to go to the Black Horse

My family and I had an amazing meal here tonight, celebrating my oldest son starting uni 🥳🥳. The food was so tasty and very well presented. The staff are very friendly too.

Great little bar with great history. It's particularly lovely during the cold evenings when they have the fire going. Lovely atmosphere. And to top it off they have a Thai restaurant and takeaway in house, which is also top notch.

First class thai takeaway. Food ready for collection at time notified. Parking limited at busy times. Didn't use other pub facilities which looked attractive and traditional

Beautiful thatched roof pub. Full of locals and welcoming to newcomers nonetheless. Massive functional garden out the back which was great for the proms and pub and garden are dog friendly. Best of all is the food. Wow. For a takeaway there's a bit of a premium but it's worth it. We ordered to death during covid and still love it. These guys rescued us from a huge disappointment at the weekend after our food failed yo arrive at another rsturant. Whether you're a local or just in town for a visit, defo worth a visit!

The staff where very polite and eve sorted are drinks out for us and the meal was very fresh and no rush. Food was plenty full as we had meal for two menu. Starter and main and there was no rush. Incredible Thai meal…the dumplings were perfect. I didn’t want to eat anything else to keep the flavour on my palate. Deliciously fragrant Thai chicken green curry & rice. Our waiter was polite & attentive enough especially when he was so busy.

Really really good can't express it any simpler than that, thoroughly enjoyed the set meal for two with a couple of drinks from a well stocked bar. The young gentleman in service was extremely nice and represented the restraunt well and courteously. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.... enjoy!

A lovely old, thatched English pub serving great beer and, curiously, having a really good Thai restaurant. Food and service were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent Asian food, waaaaaay better than I was expecting. Nice traditional pub atmosphere and good selection of beers and ciders. Highly reccomend especially the Massaman curry and the duck pancakes.

Oh. My. God. Had very moderate expectations (having lived in Thailand and being huge fans of Thai food), but it turned out to be absolutely amazing! Everything we tried (Starter plate, aromatic duck, pad thai, massaman curry) was impeccable, full of flavor, and just simply satisfying. Very moderately priced, too (everything above for about £40)

Attended wake for an elderly friend of the family. A wonderful interior with features daring from the 16th century.The exterior is a wonderful space for outdoor dining and relaxing. Clean throughout, an interesting range of beers, wines and spirits. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Awful service, waited for ages at the counter for a takeaway, noone came to the Bell. Barman saw me, ignored. Then called them whilst i was there to be hung up on!

Believe it or not, our recommendation for this gorgeous 16th century inn came from a table mat! My parents have a set of 'famous English pubs' placemats and this is one of them. As we happened to be in the area, visiting the superb Cotswolds...

Visited for my grandaughters NINTH birthday 😂! (Any excuse) We visited the Thai restaurant and it was excellent! Food was beautiful, presented well, cooked to perfection. We went with family who had eaten there before and recommended it. The staff were lovely and friendly and presented the birthday cake and sang along! Really lovely place to visit. The bar itself and outside space is great, we've been there for a mini festival (every August BH....apart from last year 🙄) and it's great fun!

A good spot to have a drink in the sun and while away a few hours. Slightly off the beaten track with a massive beer garden out the back and friendly staff and locals.

Great service and food. We brought our dog who sat next to us in the bar. Wine and flavoured gin selection could be improved on. Irrespective we had a lovely evening and will be going back!

Saw the reviews so went to try Thai restaurant as we love Thai food. Food was amazing, probably one of the best Thai meals we have had. Staff also really friendly. Also felt very safe .... well done

Great beer, i mean that absolutely awesome ale. And gabe (landlord) really has gone above and beyond looking after his customers during these unusual times we find ourselves in. OMG!!!! Amazing. Loved it. The food was authentic and delightful. Cannot fault. We had the fish cakes and soup then the duck red curry and the beef with chilli and green peppers. We shared a rice which was definitely enough and the Thai prawn crackers....

We came to the Black Horse for lunch on our way to the Cotswolds Distillery for a tour. Warm greeting from Gabe, super friendly service from the lovely young waitress, huge selection of Thai food - somewhat surprising if you were expecting English pub grub...

We wanted to see 'old england' and spend a bit of time in the country. Our guide, Peter (Peter Shelley--fun and knowledgeable local that does tours...find him! cotswoldsbycar.uk) was so kind in sharing his neighborhood hang out on a Sunday afternoon. Local beer, local folks, and a grand way to sample this wonderful part of England. Basic British fare but so nice to have amongst friends.

Fantastic, warm, traditional pub

This is an ancient stone pub with a thatched roof. The main bar is very cosy, with exposed stone walls, oak beams and a huge open fire. It very much has the look and feel of a rustic pub in a small village, but surprisingly it lies in a residential area just north of Shipston town centre. There are three handpumps offering a well chosen selection of ales mainly from smaller independent and sometimes local breweries. The other big surprise here is the menu, which is Thai - and not just a handful of Thai choices but the full menu that you would expect in a Thai restaurant. The restaurant is in a separate room to the side of the bar, but they are perfectly happy for you to eat in the bar if, as I do, you prefer. The food is very good and reasonably priced. There is also an excellent Victorian postbox set in the wall of the pub.

Un hermoso y antiguo pub tradicional con una chimenea, un gran ambiente y un personal amable. Este es el tipo de pub que amamos y definitivamente volveremos a visitarlo si en la zona. No probamos la comida tailandesa pero reservaremos una mesa en nuestra próxima visita.

Meh, not very impressed tonight. Service was slow. My plate had big greasy fingerprints on it- no apology from the waitress, just a funny look. Food pretty average- probably the best Thai food in a restaurant in Shipston, but not nearly as good as other Thai restaurants we have been to recently elsewhere.. Disappointed. For great food, go to the Tapas place.

We are thinking of moving to the town and stopped in for a drink. Received a warm welcome from the Landlord and met a few nice locals. Sell a great range of beers that are nice and different. Fire was roaring and very dog friendly. Thai menu looks great so this could end up being my new local!

Having moved to Shipston in July we have already eaten at the Black Horse on several occasions and each time the Thai food has been superb. There is a great variety on the menu, the prices are more than reasonable, and the staff friendly and prompt. What makes the place particularly special is that it is still very much a local pub with a packed fire and great selection of drinks. Highly recommended.

The black horse is a lovely little traditional pub which also does amazing Thai food, it is a little bit more expensive than average but it’s definitely worth it. Great service too, all round brilliance.

Huge choice on menu at reasonable prices . Collocated pub is very friendly with a good range of drinks . Restaurant service was outstanding .
