We came to eat. Great food. Friendly staff. They catered very well for my wife who is gluten intolerant.

Just checked out after a wonderful three nights stay. The Room, food & service & staff were all exceptional. As a Ceoliac, the beer battered fish & chunky chips were the best I've had in years & on the last night I didn't want the sirloin steak & chunky chips to end! Thank you for expertly hosting a family birthday party for 30-plus. It’s a pub reborn after years of neglect and decay. And now beautifully reappointed, The Lion’s roar is very happily restored and it’s a hostelry that’s fizzing with history and hospitality in equal measure. Well worth a visit if you’re passing and don’t wish to wander off the main road. You absolutely don’t need to!

Booked for dinner on a Friday night. The staff were welcoming and very efficient. We were particularly well looked after by Will who even sorted out our wobbly table. Food was excellent. We had mains and puddings with drinks. Very good night out, we will certainly call in again.

Booked a last minute night away with my husband. Mark and his team were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Food in the restaurant was delicious; the steak was perfect! Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fabulous too. Would highly recommend and we’re looking forward to visiting again soon.

Lovely, cosy olde English pub in a beautiful Cotswold village. Staff were friendly and very efficient, and the food was excellent, best steak I've had in a long time, cooked to perfection. Good selection of ice cold lagers, perfect after a long day on the motorbike !

Only had a meal. The sirloin was cooked to perfection and the pie of the day chicken and bacon was full of meat and proper pastry both superb 😋

We stayed here for a weekend and felt incredibly welcome and at ease. All the staff were amazing but the owner went above and beyond, thank you so much for making us feel so valued and at home. The rooms were lovely and the food was incredible. Would recommend to anyone and we will visit again just to visit and stay here.

I pass this pub every day and decided last minute on Sunday to pop in for a drink but then looking around the food looked amazing so decided to stay for lunch . Wow wow wow it was superb !!! Probably one of the best Sunday lunch we had out for a while , great menu to choose from so both started with Isle of Wight tomato, fetta cheese mint salad ( heaven) followed by beautifully cooked roast beef , potatoes selection of perfectly cooked 5 choice vegetables served with a pot of gravy and cauliflower cheese . We were full but had to try the desserts I had the banana creame buleee delicious and my fiance had homemade profiteroles with chantilly cream n chocolate sauce wow . Such a very reasonable priced meal £25 For 2 courses or £30 for 3 courses worth every penny !!!!!! Mark the manager/ owner and his team were very welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble along with a beautiful decor n building made this a perfect lunch out 10/10 . The only downside is we never tried it before , living very close by it will definitely be our local pub to drink n dine in can't wait to return very soon to try your other menus thanks again Kosta n Philip

We were visiting the area for a friends wedding and stayed here for two nights. We were looked after from arrival to leaving, Mark was the most attentive host and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was lovely and clean and had everything we could need with lots of nice welcoming touches. The food was a real treat too, enjoyed in the new garden area we had the pleasure of witnessing taking form in just one day! Would definitely recommend this place for a wholesome visit, thanks Mark and the team!

Stayed overnight whilst meeting up with friends. Really enjoyed our stay. Great room, delicious food and beer in a friendly atmosphere. Will most definitely return as much more reasonably priced than much accommodation in the area

Absolutely fantastic! Cosy, warm and modern room with plenty of space and lovely amenities. Mark was an absolute delight and such a a wonderful host. Had a delicious meal for dinner and the included breakfast was great. Would recommend this place for anyone going to the Cotswolds - only 20-40min drive from all main villages.

We stayed for 2 nights this month for my brother's 55th birthday. What a find! What an awesome place with lovely, welcoming staff, and Mark could not accomodate us enough, so kind and considerate. The choice of food was enough, was beautifully prepared and tasty. So much so we booked for dinner both nights we stayed. Thank you Mark! We will definitely return.

Beautiful venue. My first time visiting. Roast beef dinner was lovely however not very hot. Too much red cabbage. Clotted cream was grainy and lemon tart was bland. Could do better

Brilliant team who cater to all requirements, for all allergies or dislikes. Food is excellent, great choices, something for everyone. Very busy night but we were given a table and staff were very attentive. Can’t thank Mark enough for fitting us in as Friday night was a very busy night everywhere.

I’ve been to The Lion on numerous occasions and it’s always been great but at my most recent visit it was exceptional, the food was incredible, service was lovely as always. This will now be my go to when I want a meal out locally, I can’t wait to go again.

We enjoyed a two night bed & breakfast stay over. Eating exceptional food both nights also. Mark the owner and his team are second to none. The locals are extremely welcoming. I celebrated my birthday at The Lion and can’t praise them enough. They did an excellent lunch for 20, a mixture of adults and children, some with dietary requirements. Myself and husband also stayed there for 2 nights. The room was very comfortable and we were very well looked after.

A lively, busy and friendly pub used by locals and those coming from further afield. This is a place which delights through its friendliness, warmth and exceptionally well-presented premises. We had a very cheery welcome and good service which had just the right level of attentiveness. Food was excellent - delicious, imaginatively presented and hot. Gammon, egg and pineapple for me, followed by Eton Mess was a cut above the usual pub offering. The landlord sat at our table to complete the payment and couldn’t have been friendlier. We shall be back!

Warm welcome and bar service. Went straight to table with our drinks. They were busy, fully booked (which is great) as we have a holiday barn conversion opening soon and it’s amazing to have such a great pub on the doorstep! The food was excellent. Roast Beef with a huge Yorkshire pudding. Six types of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Extra gravy supplied. Very tasty and sizeable. Pudding was Black Treacle Sticky Toffee! To die for. Very reasonable price too. We will be using it more!

Lovely pub in rural location but within easy reach of Stratford upon Avon and other towns, with very much the feeling of a traditional village local . We were a group of friends and were seated at a roomy oval table which made conversation easy. The two or three course set lunch menu offered a good choice and was very reasonably priced. The full menu was equally interesting. Everyone enjoyed their meals which arrived very nicely presented and piping hot . Be warned - the excellent beer battered fish and chips is a man sized portion !Those of us who were too full for one of the tempting desserts on offer enjoyed a coffee to finish the meal. The pub has a welcoming feel to it and is attractively decorated with tasteful displays of interesting objects and pictures and lots of cosy corners. There was an eclectic selection of music playing quietly in the background which added to the relaxed atmosphere. I only wish it was in my own village!

Visited for Sunday lunch for my mum's 86th birthday. 2 of us are coeliac, but gluten free choices were available. We all had beef. Really tasty, wide range of vegetables. Gravy was gluten free. Portions were generous, staff were friendly and courteous. All positive, and we will definitely be back with other visitors. Good value, as the food was excellent.

Great food and a warm welcome. We stayed for a week in a very comfortable and well appointed room and ate in every night.

We discovered this Pub a few weeks ago and have now had a weekday lunch and this week returned for what my my partner described as the "the best Sunday Lunch he'd eaten out". Mark and his team do a great job and still find chances to interact with their customers. The chefs need to be commended on their kitchen skills and I'm sure this team will take The Lion to great things. The menu is not vast but great food, home made and cooked well.

We had a fantastic meal at the Lion. The pub is under new ownership and Mark and his staff really go above and beyond. The menu is varied with lots of good veggie and gluten free options. So tasty! I had the steak frites it was delicious and a good size, came with decent salad too. My husband had the steak and ale pie, he loved it, a proper homemade individual full pastry pie, amazing! Everyone was really friendly here too, made us feel straight at home, will definitely be popping back.
