The atmosphere was good, warm and friendly, the service was excellent, even with the problem we had, they couldn't have been more apolagetic and helpful, I have no hesitation in recommending them and will frequent again when I'm in the area x

There was lots of food on the menu that wasnt available as they hadn't had there Tescos delivery. The waiting staff were pleasant but perhaps a little bit more attention to detail is needed

Had a fantastic evening here, helpful, friendly staff. We have a reactive dog, and the staff was helpful and understanding. The wine was excellent, and the food was even better. It's probably best to book in advance.

We booked for a group birthday meal and I'm glad we did as it was busy, even the first Saturday after Christmas! There were only two staff serving drinks and food, so as it got busier at lunchtime service time did slow. But the service itself was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating; we brought a cake with us and they were great organising it to come out at the right time. Food was just what we wanted, not a massive menu but good range and tasty food too. Plenty of veggie and vegan choices for the amount of menu items and they adjusted as we needed too. We will be back for a meal in the future

Stopped in today for a quick spot of lunch. One Hot Pizza and one Napton Buffalo burger and they were both absolutely delicious. Little wonder we have struggled to get a table previously! Good service from a friendly team. Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing place visit often. The manager Matt is super kind and friendly and we are always well looked after. Feel like VIPs.

Another lovely meal with good service.

First time visit 4 adults, booked in advance. Choice of food disappointing as a number of dishes weren't available as they'd ran out!....No burgers, no pizzas, no meatballs no pork belly no seabass or another fish dish. Forced into ordering something we didn't really want due to lack of choice. Had to ask 3 times for water for the table. Didn't feel it was value for money. Its a shame as this establishment was highly recommended to us. Won't be coming back.

Marvellous food, but I missed the ambiance of a restaurant.

Just a lovely place to spend our last night of our holiday. Food is exceptional and the service personable and friendly. Highly recommend for families and dog owners.

Great dinner for 7 of us to start canalboat holiday from napton boatyard. Portion sizes a bit massive. Ribs needed at least 2 others to help!

Absolutely outstanding place. Food was excellent with a great choice for varying dietary requirements. The service was fantastic, we were thoroughly looked after for the entire time. Good banter from the staff, very friendly. Great drinks selection as well as the main food menu. Would definitely recommend. Cost wise, very reasonably priced.

Had a fantastic time here with the girls last night. The service from Chris, Andy (nice shirt btw!) and the rest of the team was 10/10. The food was amazing and it was easily the best chicken burger I've ever had. The atmosphere is so calm and relaxing from as soon as enter from as soon as you leave. The drinks are fast and strong (bring on the Baby Guinness!!) All on all I had a 10/10 experience and I look forward to returning ♥️

Must admit never tip, but on this occasion absolutely necessary as everything was outstanding! What a tremendous and rare experience these days!

Today we decided to have a walk from the canal . We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the beer garden. At 2.45, before we'd finished our last drink, we thought we'd nip to the toilet before our walk back - only to discover the pub all locked up! Absolutely flabbergasted! We were still customers drinking and the pub was due to close at 3pm. Such a shame to write this as the beer was great

We have eaten here a few times. We chose the The Kings Head today because we wanted to treat a Nepalese guest to an English pub experience. Consistently good service and great food. We made a very nice memory for our Nepalese friend. Thank you Team for a great fun evening.

As the Ausies say "It was pretty ordinary". Standard pub Sunday lunch available anywhere. Jammed in a table for 2 next to the door and cutlery dispensing area. Was a bit disappointed as I'd been wanting to get in here for a while and at £18.50 a pop I thought it a tad overpriced. Oh well, on to the next one...

Dieser Pub liegt direkt an einer vielbefahrenen Straße. Das ist aber auch der einzige Hacken. Wenn man draußen sitzt, ist es halt ein wenig lauter. Das Essen ist super und der Rest stimmt auch. Es gibt eh nicht richtig viele Alternativen im Ort. ;-)

Really good service from attentive staff. The food was ok, we had the pizza which was ok. There was a loud group next to us, which spoiled our enjoyment somewhat, but as we were only visiting, being moored on the canal our visit isn't likely indicative of the place. The others in our party had the steak and king prawns and were very happy with their meal.

Fabulous - they worked with our pre-booked party of 50 plus people, provided excellent service and great value, tasty food. Our whole group was served quickly and with consistent quality.

Excellent Sunday roast and great beer too! A la carte menu also has a good selection of food available. Sizzlers well worth trying...really tasty! Still great food and a good choice of beers.

Awesome food and staff, why can't more pubs be like this?

After asking for a Flat White coffee, I got a standard black coffee. My friend ordered a pot of tea, tea great, pot cracked. Food excellent but served in a black bowl! Otherwise totally excellent. Loos were brilliant.

Walked from canal boat for lunch, lovely characterful pub, good beer, good food, dogs welcome, very chatty and friendly bar staff/ waiter, food very good (had a risotto) served in good time.

Went and had Cowboy Pizza really good, husband had risotto so we shared both really tasty. Even bought some out with us.... 😉

Always a fan of the Kings Head but today VERY disappointed. It wasn’t busy, which was quite discerning as always very busy. Ordered a starter, had to ask after waiting a substantial time if it could be served before the mains only to be told that waitress had forgotten to put it through when our mains arrived! Then offered to put them through then 🤔 Apart from that, the food we did receive was very nice although the roast dinner had no potatoes 😐. All said we won’t be rushing back, which is a shame as we always loved the kings head!

10 min walk from bridge 111 on the canal. Not a real path in places but easily doable and well worth the walk! The food was amazing, I got the rack of ribs - the best I’ve ever had. Staff were very accommodating. If you are on a boat or otherwise give this place a try 10/10

The staff are kind and good and the portions are very good for the price. The drinks came out quick enough but the food looked AMAZING and the burger was the best that I’ve had in a long while and was very filling and they have a good selection on the menu. It’s a great environment inside and out and mainly inside is very well decorated while making it an excellent place to sit and eat food. The kids menu has good portions for children as well while keeping it at a reasonable price. There are always different specials making it a good place to come continually and not get bored. Would recommend and come again. Edit: I ended up having the sorbet for dessert and it was amazing.

Lovely gastro pub. The quality of their food is amazing, and not your usual "from frozen" or from a packet type of pub food. Big garden to enjoy the summer in, and great customer service. Had the sirloin steak last night, and it was cooked to perfection.

The food was absolutely delicious, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection and all the flavours went well together. I felt sorry for whoever had to wash up the assortment of plates, bowls, miniature buckets and mugs that it arrived in, but this didn't detract from the quality of the meal. I was slightly disappointed that there were only two veggie main courses to choose from (not even a vegetarian pizza, which should be easy). Although I enjoyed what I had, I left still feeling hungry. My partner had a meat heavy meal and felt very full afterwards. I don't know why restaurants always assume vegetarians have less of an appetite than meat eaters. My main reason for 4 stars is that we felt both rushed and ignored although this sounds like a contradiction. We were ushered straight into the restaurant when we arrived and not given a wine list until we ordered desert, it took some time to get a drink and was hard to get the attention of a server to get another. However they didn't give us enough time between the main course and the desert but then seemed to forget about giving us the bill.

Food, drink and location are exceptional. A must eat and drink, fabulous outdoor area. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

Great local pub. Top level food and super popular, so need to book in advance. Good range of wines and craft, relaxed atmostphere. Not the cheapest, but definately worth it.

My family and I went for a Sunday lunch in December. All meats were the same price and we got an absolutely huge serving for our money! Everything was hot and well cooked, although some of the veg could have done with a bit longer. We would definitely go again.

The food was incredible! Went for a meal in December with the family and every one of us were impressed with the meals. I had the pork belly which was arguably the best I've eaten. Not just your typical standard pub food, definitely worth a visit! Staff were friendly and service was great. Dog friendly in the front area by the bar where you can eat. Plenty of tables available there. There's also a large dog-free restaurant area. If looking to take your dog, I would suggest to book to secure a table at the front. In fact, it was pretty busy so would recommend booking for everyone.

Went for a drink early on a Saturday night. Seemed like it was mainly focused on food but still we had a good drink at the bar. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

The Kings Head serves everything needed to enjoy an awesome restaurant experience. The staff is very friendly, the facility warm, inviting and the food is really good therefore meriting a "true 5". We ordered the Not a scotch egg, squid and prawns to start. Then enjoyed the burger, steak and sea bass. Our group visited from Canada on business and we truly enjoyed the experience!

Staff excellent, food good but served on cold plates why oh why do I have to try and gorge the food down while it is luke warm. This is common in so many places now not just here. Please please buck your ideas up

Just been for a meal here and our first time visiting Napton on the Hill. It is a miserable night and we are staying just up the road from here and thought we would give it a go. The attentive young ladies present saw us helplessly searching for the entrance and came out and invited us in. We said we hadn't booked but they said no problem. I ordered the RACK of ribs...and believe me it was a rack and a half...immense, it was cooked to perfection and tender with a rich sticky sauce accompanied by fries and coleslaw (to be honest I couldn't finish it as lovely as it was). My wife Ali had the Sea Bass accompanied with petit pois à la francaise and potatoes which she said was georgeous. The ladies who took care of us were really efficient, polite and very smiley...a pleasure to see in these times of shortages in the service industry. I used to be in the trade and it was good to see they knew what they were doing and contributed to a very pleasant meal. For dessert I had the Banofee concoction which I can say was delicious and presented really well in quirky glasses. I don't like Banoffee Pie but this alternative was spot on. My wife doesn't favour desserts but she said it would have been nice if a cheese selection had been on offer..so please note Management. At the end of the meal was that nights offer that you could toss a coin to see if you got your meal half price...we lost...we didn't care as the food had been so good anyway. I think we paid £65 in all with drinks & gratuity which I would happily spend again. A really great meal well appreciated by us. Thank you. Just a footnote, we enjoyed it so much we went back again last night and my wife had the same and I had the scotch egg & black pudding starter and the baked cheese which were both presented really well and tasty. Service again spot on.

Brilliant food and a beautiful pub. So sick of the same menu from pub to pub. It looks like most pubs download the same lasagne / hunters chicken / fish and chips / burger menu. Thankfully not at the King's Head. A wonderful menu and so well prepared. Excellent choice of whiskey selection too!

Went to this pub on curry night and the food was excellent. Good choice of ales and beers and friendly staff. It was a busy night but the service was very good and quick.

Its been a few years since we came here, but still a very nice place. The Scotch egg alone makes it worth a visit! 😋 Guinness drinkable, but could be better. Food and service pretty good. 👍👍

Food was nice but above average price, fancy dining, I had the sirloin steak, with 4 fries and a bit of salad leaf garnish, nice but not outstanding for the £28 price tag, (I was going to order the Wellington but sold out, and they had no coffee at all either, waiting for tomorrow's delivery. Was really looking forward to our visit but turned out to be mediocre. £60 bill and still feeling hungry.

We've eaten here many times and the food has always been fabulous and delicious. We attended with friends on September 6th for my partners 49th birthday. The food was amazing and very fresh with a great menu choice. No where else local comes close. The staff are very friendly, warm and welcoming. We took a birthday cake which the staff bought out on slate with a happy birthday message. Would definitely recommend, great place, great people! Thanks guys, you're all awesome!

Popped in for lunch on way back to London on Bank Holiday. What a gem! Great service and food. Hooky Cod and Chips and Grilled Halloumi sizzler were lovely. Catered for Children too with Chicken Goujon’s and chips. Nice pint of ale too.

This place is ALWAYS fantastic. The food is delicious, the drinks are perfect and the staff are wonderful. The landlord Matt always makes you feel welcome without being imposing, takes the time to come and speak to you (if it's not too busy). Since buying a house up the road in southam, we frequent here as much as we can. Be aware though that Sundays need to be booked in advance because the roasts are unbelievable. Plus now they do pizza between 5 and 7 on Sunday evenings. Try it once and you'll be a regular forever.

Really good food and nice staff

We were driving home after a day out and stopped here as we drove past. Was a lovely pub, with a decent garden. It was the perfect evening for pizza and cider in the pub garden!

Food was excellent - we all had starters and mains, which were all tasty with generous portions (my squid starter was a tad disappointing, but not going to mark them down for that).
