Genuinely good pub with polite staff and good beer. I’m more than happy for it to be a dog friendly pub, however allowing them on the furniture is a little too much. Which is unfair for people with allergens and not hygienic when food is served in this establishment.

Thought we would try this place after living localish for a while now. So 7:40pm me, my wife and daughter where on our way home and thought we would pop in. Every other pub I have been to have a 9pm curfew on kids. Was only going to have one drink on the way home. Walked in and was turned away instantly saying kids have to be out for 8pm. Never known a so called family friendly pub have kids out before 9pm. Seams more dog friendly than family friendly. Shame really. Nice pub but with a 8pm cut off for kids and being told in a really rude way. Just didn't feel very welcoming to new faces.

Visited September 2021 when doing the BCA ale trail. This was possibly my favourite pub of the day. Seems like a friendly sort of place, a locals pub. The beer selection was excellent, and the Hop Twister that I had was on top form. Well worth a visit.

This pub has been transformed and greatly improved by the change of management, the landlord and landlady are very very nice people who have a very wide range of experience, which shows in their hospitality skills as great beer, they also serve great old fashioned crusty cobs, pasties during the week and also samosas on the weekend, roaring fires in the winter and great beer garden in the summer. Also this is a dog friendly pub and kids welcome during the day, carry on the great work Simon and Marie........

This is my local pub that I have been coming to for the past 6 years but never left a review. They have recently had new management and I have to say what a difference it has made....the last manager would hardly look at you let alone speak to you. The new manager and his wife take the time to talk you and make you feel welcome and the staff seem much happier. The pub has a great selection of ales and gins and also offer samosas and pasties. It’s lovely on a cold night when they have the fire roaring.

A warm friendly atmosphere greets all who visit The Swan. Good choice of beers and gins complimented by crusty cobs and bar snacks. Visited on a busy Saturday night but no wait at the bar and found a seat. Only downside is the lack of off road parking.

Visited for the first time over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. More spacious inside the expected. As an independent pub it's nice to see something different inside and not the usual decor that you find in so many brewery owned pubs. A great range of beers ciders and gin with basic ham salad, cheese cobs, pork pies sausage rolls and samosas. Also has a good elevated garden to the rear. Pleasant bar staff and entertainment at various times during the month.

A lovely day out to this great friendly, warm welcoming pub. A brilliant range of lovely drinks available. 16 diff gins from 18% to 43% strength, 10 great real ales, 5 real ciders, 1 superb red mulled cider, There was a quiz night on Wed 6th Feb, £5 for a team of 4 people. 8pm start. Novel pump clip clocks available only £5, a nice addition. The fires were on making the place snug. Lovely cobs available, ham salad was delightful. Cheese & onion too. 2 ladies toilets. On X8 bus route from Birmingham, takes about half hour. Soul & Motown music night was Sat 26 Jan. Crafty Blighta played Sat 23 Feb 19. Current licensee here since 2015 & they are doing a lovely job looking after the place. They even have the lovely Pipers crisps in stock, every delightful flavour. There has been a pub here since 1750, but the first known licensee was known in 1845. The pub has been owned by Penn brewery from 1860, then owned by Atkinson brewery, then Mitchell & Butlers from 1932. It passed to Punch Taverns before coming under the great tenure of Black Country Ales in 2014. Local newspaper & a few books & mags to peruse. Beer garden at rear. A great place to come.

Been to this pub on many occasions. My partner loves the ale and we both love the cobs. We quite often call in after walking our little dog. Turned up there the other day only to find that dogs and children were no longer welcome. I personally don't like children in pubs, never have, though I've never really seen any in the swan. I have however, seen dogs and not once have I seen a dog that isn't under control and well behaved. We are annoyed at the inconsistency of the sudden change. We travel all over the country and lots of places are dog friendly. It's a shame as we will look for somewhere else now. Plus I don't see what the problem is, but it's unlikely we will go back.

Very good beer and cider selection, but the manager and his partner to create an atmosphere, very moody and ignorant and are both constantly watching the bar staff like hawks making both staff and customers feel uncomfortable, also making snide comments if staff talk to or have a laugh and joke with customers! Also made a comment when one of the bar staff dropped a glass to make him feel small! There is no way I would work for someone like this! Very unprofessional and very poor management!!!

We have used this pub on many occassions and found it to be a proper british pub that is full of character and characters. The recent beer festival was fantastic with loads of great ales to select from, which we were advised and educated about by a group call Top Beer Crew. Crazy, funny guys who apparently host the quiz there once a month. Live music was available on the 2 nights we were there which was excellent. The staff were very friendly and polite, although we dont recall the lady in the picture being there.I can definitely see us going back soon. Roll on the next beer festival

The swan spent many years being under new owners leaving the public in a constant state of is it open or not, but after a 2 years or so stint of becoming a real ale pub its become a great place for a few beverages.Pick an ale any ale or cider for that matter, I drink more of the latter in the swan of which has a fantastic variety to choose from, yet think a bigger variety of lager wouldn't go a miss? not necessarily your run of the mill Carlsberg's, but something sourced locally. would that ruin its real ale status tho? Does it keep the yobs at bay? Perhaps it does, which is a feather in the swans cap, I've never been in to witness any trouble and it always seems packed which means the swan inn is in demand.I've been to a few quizzes that take place on the first Wednesday each month I'd love to see that become a weekly feature, they also host singers weekly which also bring in big crowds. If your in the area and fancy a beverage from a massive array of local ales in clean surroundings, with background music where you can still have a chinwag with mates, with pleasant and helpful staff that can actually bartend, I cant think if a better place to go.

Since the refurbishment The Swan has become our local for all the reasons given in the many great reviews below and is a welcome destination once or twice a week. Great beer, fine surroundings, pleasant staff and customers and the gentle hum of human conversation and laughter. But now?….The addition of a TV. Why oh why?I can just….just about see why when an important sport match is on, though i'd prefer it not at all. No match on last night but it's silent distractive glow played relentlessly with not a single person viewing. Though the TV was silent the music system alas was not. Taylor Swift playing at an intrusive level is not what many of the customers were wanting at The Swan as confirmed when i asked some of them. The absence of TV and music have been highlighted as one of the great attractions of The Swan……Please don't spoil a gem for short term gain.

This has newly been taken over by a different landlord. I must say he is top notch, ever since his reign it has been more vibrant, friendlier and it has a bit more about it. There are beer festivals, and quiz nights and game nights and gigs. There is always a great choice of ales to choose from, all locally made. Great cobs or the odd scotch egg some days. Its just a nice friendly pub that I enjoy going to. Slightly pricey for normal drinks such as Thatchers and Carling but the ales and ciders on pump are reasonable. Great big beer garden too, when the sun is out, its a great local boozer!

Used to drink here years ago then closed down nice place to meet with mates and have a quiet beer, went on a Sunday night loved it only thing I disliked was when the landlord put cheese and biscuits on the bar and to see the landlord himself stuff his face and then not washing his hands before he continued to pull a pint ( BAD PRACTICE ). I presume there is a regular there who ate the cheese and biscuits who stuffed them in his mouth so quick there was crumbs falling over the other cheese from his mouth serviettes or paper plates would be great idea for people to take away from the bar this really disappointed me would have stayed for another but after seeing this we decided to leave would have been a extra £11 in the til

I loved this pub and persuaded my husband who is a non drinker to visit. We waited at the bar patiently whilst the person in front was served a large round of drinks and then a member of their party decided to have cobs - the barmaid wrapped them up very slowly and then when the customer had paid, the barmaid went and served 3 different people at the front of the bar who had arrived 10 minutes after us. We asked whether they actually served in the back area and was told 'yes sorry, will be with you soon'. My husband walked out disgusted. Poor service by bar staff who should be aware who is next in line to be served. Perhaps just the 'regulars' get priority treatment ...

Best pub near Blackheath, by far - and much newer and spacious than The Waterfall Pub There are 8 real ales on tap at any one time and several of them change by the week. The clientele are normal people - i.e. you don't seem to get any of the riff-raff that blights some of the other places in the area. It does good cobs but it's not a food pub. I didn't see a TV, thank God, but there's a cracking dartboard area.

I'd heard a few friends talk about this pub in a positive manner, so decided to visit one Friday afternoon around lunchtime. I was surprised at how quiet it was, but impressed by the interior decor. The barman was a friendly chap, who welcomed us right away.I was like a kid in a candy shop looking at all the ales on tap. Selection was helped by little jars which had samples in, showing the colour of each ale.I still couldn't decide, so was provided a small free sample of the one I was contemplating (I decided to buy 2 pints of it!).I would seriously recommend this pub to anyone with a taste for craft beers. Used to use this pub many years ago, when it was just like any other run down Black Country boozer. It's recently had a refurb and is now a superb venue for people who want what a pub should offer, beer and conversation. The staff all work tirelessly to ensure you feel welcome, engaging with you from the moment you step in the door, and as there are no people ordering mountains of food (they don't sell it!**), you get served fairly quickly even when it's busy.No televisions, no juke box just good old fashioned conversation.Try the whisky cask cider, or if you're not a cider drinker any one of the 8 real ales that are on offer every day.**At weekends you can get a scotch egg, chilli hot or wrapped in black pudding, well worth a try.No children allowed, and even as a father myself I appreciate the reason for this, there's plenty of Wacky Warehouses out there for families who wish to be surrounded by screaming children high on J20.
