Impressed with our first visit to Carisma where five of us shared nachos and a couple of the sharing platters - I also identified some individual tapas for a future visit. Good service and it looked as if there are different eating areas

All I can say is fantastic service and fantastic food. This is the pub you all wish for in your home village. Great beer choice Great menu and great value Staff with a smile Food is homely and country pub quality When we come to Alton Towers next year we will be back

Reading other reviews makes me feel like I visited an entirely different place. I can’t comment on the quality of the food because we left before ordering. Nobody greeted us when we entered so we were left standing in the doorway for a few minutes despite seeing three staff pass us. We were sent upstairs where, again, nobody greeted us so we eventually went to the bar to ask for our table. After being seated by the third staff member we asked for our table, we were left with two food menus but no drink menus. After asking for drink menus we were left again. After ten minutes we attempted to ask a staff member if we needed to order drinks and food at the bar but we only got as far as “excuse me, could you tell me…” before she cut us off and said she’d be back in a couple of minutes. She didn’t come back so after another ten minutes we left, given that several other tables were waiting for food and drinks and feeling like we’d be waiting a very long time to eat. The food we saw looked good but the lack of service was a massive problem. Maybe we just went on a bad night for them

We used to eat at this pub before it closed and was sold, so we were expecting similar high standards from the new owners - but we were disappointed. Saturday evening was busy, with the staff being fully occupied. Starters were good (ham hock and goats cheese) but the ribeye steaks were poor quality meat and were very under-cooked (had to send both of them back for a second spell on the grill). The chips were unusual, like mashed potato inside a crispy coating. Anyway, at £150 for four people, I didn't think it was good value for money.

Simply disappointed. No meet and greet at the door. We just stood in the entrance despite a staff member doing nothing. Disproportionate amount of time waiting for a menu. Asked to choose wine before we had even seen a menu. There were lots of changes to the menu which we were verbally told but to repeat this to all diners was time consuming. A simple menu reprint would have been better. The waitresses were polite but there was no happiness. When we asked one to explain what something was the answer came back as ‘a pastry thing’. There was a lack of dish knowledge by everyone except the main man. Who was running around taking orders and producing bills and basically doing the brunt of the work. The terrine starter and beetroot gravlax were bland. Main courses were good but the chocolate torte was more of a sponge cake with no robust/ deep taste. The wine we chose was good and reasonably priced. It was meant to be a special occasion but was an expensive lack lustre affair.

Firstly an apology to Waz, I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to write a review for your bistro, and more over I'm sorry the adventure has ended; albeit a new one is now in motion. I came here at the request of a good friend of mine, and fellow food blogger back in December 2022. I was told that the chef knew his stuff, and that the food was very reminiscent of the street food cafes we had visited during our time in Morocco, and Southern France; my friend wasn't wrong. I ordered a starter of Calamari Fritters, served with a Garlic & Saffron Mayo, for the main a Roasted Quail accompanied by dauphinoise potatoes and a fig sauce, and for dessert my go to Christmas Pudding. My first impression of Waz's Bistro is that its a tidy affair, on par with some of the smaller bistros you would normally encounter in the city. The staff although young, were attentive, and if they were unsure would ask the kitchen. The wine list was hit and miss; so I stuck to dealers choice and ordered a cocktail. The starter arrived around the fifteen minute mark from order, not withstanding the location; wasn't to bad of a ticket time. The Calamari Fritters were crispy on the outside, and the Calamari succulent when chewed. The mayo added a nice bite as the garlic added a subtle dimension, the saffron was perfectly measured, and like the garlic added an extra dimension to the dish. The main course was roughly ten minutes from when the young chap took my entre plate away, again ticket times are clearly a priority to the chef. The Quail was unfortunately a bit drier than what I would have normally liked, but still ticked all the boxes regarding taste and presentation. The potatoes were just that, nothing abusive to the taste buds, nor offensive to the eye. The Fig Sauce though was something to behold, perfectly balanced, and complimented the quail beautifully; bravo Chef, Bravo! Now to the disappointment. After my plate was taken away, I was left for roughly twenty minutes before what in my eyes was a travesty. The Christmas Pudding was undercooked, and even though it was perfectly fruited, it was a trudge to eat it. The bill was thirty-five pounds excluding the cocktail, and to be honest that's cheap considering other Bistros. It was overall a great night out So how do I rate Waz? More so now that he's closed his doors. I believe a nod of respect to his talent, and acknowledgment of all he did for the industry in Bromsgrove is a good place to start Bon Chance Waz.

We were booked in for a family anniversary celebration for a party of eighteen for a three course Sunday lunch . The meal was excellent all served at the same time no one was waiting for there meals to be arrive. The starters, main course and deserts were exceptional. The staff serving could not do enough for us, the drinks were bought to us promptly when needed . I would definitely recommend this restaurant the food and service was of the highest quality.

We cycled over 10 miles to visit this entity which apparently has not been a tea room for over 3 years. It is still showing on the Herefordshire publicity material and cycle guides as a tea room. The photographs on Trip Advisor are also very misleading. There are currently no tea rooms in Pembridge.
