Walked out of this place as no social distancing, no perspex screens, staff unmasked and leaning forward to within 1m of customers. All of the customers complying with mask rules; why can't the staff reciprocate with mutual respect?
After not eating here for a *long* time we tried eating here again once lock-down had finished. Happy to report that we've been delighted with the quality of the food and have eaten here a few times since. Even better the food has been consistently good too.
Good coffee - terrible service - tables all filthy dirty - bagels totally overpriced and really poor. Dry - lack of bbq sauce in’The Gent’. Entire place smelt of old chip oil and had to wait so long we have left smelling of chip fat! £59.00 for 3 people! Definitely not worth the visit. Go for coffee and cake only.
Nice looking little bar but staff don’t seem interested if not out the back smoking/vaping then stinking the place out with dettol type cleaning products. This seemed strange when partner reported ladies toilets were in a poor state but even worse no toilet seat in gents toilet how is this acceptable in this day and age.
When basic standards can’t be meet on where you can see them who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

Popped in with my husband just for a quick coffee. Cafe is small and a little dark but the coffee was very nice. Very reasonably priced too. It is part of the open studio so we were surrounded by lots of fascinating art work.
Toilet was a bit grubby but apart from that, it’s well worth a visit.
Hey the owner is a great entertainer been here for New Year's Eve 3 years in a row & it gets better every time
Chalkie puts groups on regularly
Give it a go
Six of us were spending the weekend down in Poole. After spending a day on the beach we wanted a takeaway
This was a 5 min walk from where we were staying. The service was very friendly and they cooked fresh fish for us and it was very nice. Also had sausages and saveloys
All in all great food decent portions and good price. Would recommend.
They also do burgers and pies and you can eat in for breakfasts as well.
Would recommend this is a place to eat
We are here today as a family. Have had family meals here many times before including when the pub was under the Hungry Horse brand. Service was exceptional. So friendly, professional and first rate. Great staff throughout. However, the food was very mixed. Seven meals and two starters. Nachos starter ok. Nothing special but ok. Ultimate starter was tasty but small for cost. Seven main meals: steak medium with popcorn sauce good. Gammon very good. 2*double burgers with cheese, bacon a chicken strips, one not bad, one poor and tasted nasty. One portion of chips 50% bigger than the other! Mac Cheese tasted good but very small portion. One chic mix very good, scampi chips and mushy peas, 5 pieces of scampi, one spoon of mushy peas and small chips. Front row f house staff awesome, kitchen staff need to get a grip. Overall disappointing.
Absolutely loved the All You Can Eat, embraced the deal with my friends for a special occasion. The sesame king prawn toast in particular was an excellent starter! Many thanks
Food took 85 mins to be delivered food was hot which was a nice change.
First time ordering from here. Didn't enjoy two of the meals curry sauce had no flavour broccoli was still raw and over powered with garlic. Crispy wonton hadn't been drained of the oil and the goo inside I couldn't work it out.
The rest of the food was edible chips/rice etc. Wast of money in my op as the other meals couldn't enjoy.
On the plus side a very polite delivery driver which is rare.
Had my brothers wake on 19th March it was amazing they opened up early for us to set up and omg the spread buffet they put on was amazing.
Fully recommend 👌
Fantastic visit. Came over from Cheltenham in the glorious sun and enjoyed some drinks in the garden (total sun trap) the place was absolutely packed with people and so busy but service was so quick ordered on the app and it came within 10 minutes handed delivered by a lovely lady who I later found out is the pub manager. Ordered some food later on in the day and it too came pretty quick despite how busy it was. My personal favourite was the salt and pepper chicken. My compliments to the chef. Great atmosphere fantastic staff. All round a great venue. Will be back more now that I spotted the massive TVs for me to watch the footie. Thanks Team Talbot
