Talbot in Worcester

Ordered food and drinks together on a Saturday evening, food came in 20 mins but after waiting 45 minutes still no drinks. Went to the bar and asked and was told ‘Oh yeah I’ll start those now for you’, no explanation no apology. Apparently the bar was ‘busy’ but definitely wasn’t busy enough to warrant a 45 minute wait. When drinks were eventually brought over (close to an hour at this point) there was still no ‘sorry for the wait’ or anything.

Slow service for food, but you get what you pay for. Above average 👍

Great pub just enjoyed a burger and pint great price will be returning.

Went for some food and drinks with a couple of mates and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food and service was. Was a lovely atmosphere and the 2 lads working were very attentive and helpful. Will happily be coming back again!

The Talbot is the most welcome place to enjoy good food, nice ales, and very friendly staff nothing to much trouble.

Great atmosphere, lots of tables. Would of liked there to be more big tables or room to move tables together as we had to sit near to tv which was playing football while we had a committee catch up

Came here for some drinks with my friends and got served by someone who has an inability to smile, two of my friends ordered a draught beer but there wasnt any nozzles on which is strange considering the pub wasn't supposed to close for another 2 hours and there was a fair few others on the premises, so her pint was flat. Asked if this could be changed and the same happened again. They have cat food out which looks as if its been there for days, its crusty which is disgusting. Also ordered cocktails and was wondering if theres an ice shortage as not one of us got offered ice. The pub has fallen since the old landlord left. Wont be coming back

Have been coming to the Talbot for a long time and always have a nice time. The staff are welcoming and atmosphere relaxed. Food is always excellent with good portion sizes. They have tv's that show sport but it is not loud like in some pubs. Would recommend for food or just drinks. They have lots of outside seating too.

Tried a little small talk with the lady behind the bar. Not interested. No real bitter. Loud swearing folk at near table. Swearing whilst walking out the door too. "Cheers" I said whilst returning my glass. Nothing from her. Disappointing. Will not return.

Arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday night to be told they had no clean wine glasses and couldn’t have a wine. Gobsmacked! My friends who had already had a glass gave them their empty glasses to reuse and I ended up with a beer glass to drink my wine from! Unbelievable!!!!We left after that drink and won’t be back.

Very warm welcome including the lovely friendly cat. Good food at a reasonable price.

Went on a Sunday late afternoon was Nice atmosphere but the Sunday roast was a disappointment the veg was hard and the potatoes that seemed frozen ones were not all cooked all the way through they brought us more veg and told us they couldn't cook it more than 4 mins already cooked so finally got a refund other food we have had in past has been nice but the Sunday roast I wouldn't recommend

Great pub, amazing quiz on a Thursday, lovely food, lovely crowd, and an incredible and hard working bar team. Don’t have anything negative to say!

Having had visited the Talbot on multiple occasions, I feel it be necessary to comment on the approach taken towards the service by staff. Frankly speaking, each time at the establishment I have been served by the same server at the bar. His attitude is unwelcoming and not approachable. If able to I would have requested a different bar person as he had presented unpolitenees towards me every single time. He seems unknowledgeable regarding discounts and discouraging towards the products advertised on the menu, even when the options are limited due to stock. Such a shame to see the staff not promote the lovely atmosphere and the quality of product.

Jonny and his team were brilliant throughout the Euros, a very friendly place to go to as well with a beautiful outdoor garden.

Good atmosphere a pints a bit pricey

Wanted to get some drinks, a bowl of chips, and play a game of pool. Pub didn't have enough food so refused to serve sides from the menu. Pool table had only one cue, and it was worn to the point of being unpleasant to use. Staff were apologetic and friendly, but it put me off coming back.

Popped in last on spec with our 2 dogs . Food was spot on service was great and friendly . Great outdoor area with cover .can't wait to come back . ( don't forget to sign in for free park )

Great pub in the heart of Worcester! Being a Greene King there is an excellent selection of beer to choose from, pints are always poured consistently and correct! The food is always top tier, as is the service from staff who always have time for a chat. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Been visiting the Talbot for over 20 years,but since the latest management has taken over its really declined as an establishment...I no longer bring my family here for food as the quality just isn't there like it once was...the toilets are always filthy and full of teens offering narcotics and I feel it's no longer a safe place to bring my children & wife...really disappointed

This has to be the worst and roughest pub in Worcester. The staff are rude and disrespectful and never smile and they look really grubby. The toilets are dirty and smelly with urine all over the floor and no loo roll. And the food is not fit for human or dog consumption. With so many other pubs to try in Worcester definitely swerve this place. Can't believe they are still trading !

Lovely pub in terms of food and atmosphere. Only downside is it has a sign on the accessible toilet stating baby changing when there isn't a table in there.

Great pub, delicious food. The only issue I had was the fact that with the steak pie and mash, you only have 2 choices no gravy or extra gravy. You have to pay more for extra.

Good at a lot of things but not great. Nice bar area and lounge, quiz is good and also have a nice out door area. The food is typical for this type of pub. It's ok. I had the pie which was actually quite nice with broccoli (which was undercooked and mash potato which was ok and gravy which was so think I could barely pour it out the gravy boat. However it was fine as the positives made up for the negatives. The beer is nothing special with usual lagers and off the shelf beers. But this pub isn't claiming to be a real ale establishment so it's fair to say the drinks are fine. By all means this isn't a negative review. If you would like beer some reasonable beer and wine. At reasonable prices you can't go wrong here. Well done

Visited during our stay at the apartments next door . Lovely pub .. friendly staff . Had the seniors lunch one visit and dinner on another visit . Both were very good meals and great service .. would recommend!

Came in on spur of the minute and what a lovely surprise… attentive bar staff, cracking no nonsense pub grub and Garry the pub cat! Friendly atmosphere with lots going on - quizzes etc. Will certainly be back

Came for Christmas meal. Booking the event was abit of a nightmare but all in all the food was good and atmosphere was nice and quiet no shouting over the table to be heard.

Came here an about a year ago and what an awful pub this was. We heard there was a new landlord here so we have it a go over bank holiday. What can I say. What a change to this pub all for the better. We went in to find great entertainment and the new landlord really made an effort and his amazing team. I must say thank god for the change we love the talbot. We will he back,

Good selection of beers and ales and one of the top places to go for a drink if you want to see Justin from the feathers sloping around telling all the punters that it's better over the road in the feathers.

Hi we were looked after well when we worked at The Talbot. Nest time in Worcester will be one place il go too .

What a lovely find! We've driven past this pub so many times and not really noticed it but cycling past it one day we decided to stop for lunch, as the food was so reasonably priced. We returned last week thinking it couldn't be that good again but it was even better. We had the "senior menu" which was beautiful food at an affordable price. The Talbot has a lovely friendly, relaxed atmosphere and Jo, the deputy manager made us feel really welcome. Hopefully we'll get to meet Gary (the Talbot cat) next time!!

Not had a bad meal here, I quite like the snug area, where you can sit have a drink or meal, away from the busier part of the pub.

Sophie the girl behind the bar was amazing! She was on her own on a steady Sunday evening, she was working constantly, but still with a smile on her face, regulars were asking her lots of questions regarding the beer issues but she was so positive and service still with a smile, an absoloute credit to the pub. Definitly deserves a raise! There was a young man helping her however we didn't catch his name, he was not old enough to serve alcohol, but helping with glasses and getting things Sophie needed! Welldone both , all the guests were praising her service and her attitude, considering how busy she was!

Had to change beer because cloudy and sour .We also ordered food with salad and chips. Salad was tomato onion lettuce and rocket with a slight drizzle of something so insignificant . I had mac n cheese which was Luke warm at best. Obviously not been in the microwave ( ha ha complex cuisine) long enough. Chips with a so called non existent rosemay and salt sprinkle once again liuke warm.No i bet the manager says why didn't i raise the matter. I say if you took pride in your business then there would be no need to complain.

My friend and I had a lovely relaxed day recently and a few drinks out of the cold. Lovely comfy pub, great atmosphere and lovely staff 😀 We didn't eat on this occasion but I recently had a lovely Sunday roast here too and that was very nice, large menu range all the week and good selection of drinks. Great family pub and sports bar, large garden and very friendly 😀

We regularly used to call in here for lunch on our day off, as we loved the great value food and friendly staff. We hadn’t been able to call in for a few months, so were looking forward to our visit in the run up to Christmas. Oh dear, not sure what has happened, but the quality of the food had fallen dramatically. My lasagne was very claggy and unappetising , and was nearly all pasta. My husband used to love the all day breakfast here - but unfortunately the standard of all the ingredients had fallen off a cliff and did not taste good at all - he had to leave most of it. We were so disappointed after all the good meals we have had here. I hope we were just unlucky and hit an unfortunate blip, and normal service will be resumed!

Blonde Bar Maid was incredibly rude, and sexist, won’t be returning. Clear lack of training, as a front of house member myself there is an obvious lack of respect and professionalism . clearly the staff here have not been trained properly !!!

I visited the talbot for the first time last night, and I must say the food was amazing and the staff were so polite and friendly, a really warm and inviting pub and great value for money

Booked a table for 7:30pm for dinner and quiz. Told only after already buying drinks that we couldn’t order food for a while due to a large Christmas party, and that the staff would let us know when we could order. Had to ask again at 8:55pm at which point we were told we wouldn’t be getting any food that evening, as the backlog was too bad and the kitchen closed at 9pm. Pointed out that was poor not to have informed us ahead of time, as we were led to believe we’d be able to order eventually; also, I specifically booked to have dinner…. We would have gone elsewhere, if we’d known. I would have been understanding had the staff seemed in any way bothered, but what I found most appalling was the complete disinterest and lack of apology from members of staff. Half-mumbled excuses and not once did I hear the word ‘sorry’. One female employee outright ignored us when we asked for an update on the food situation. I thought even a single free bag of crisps would have been a nice gesture for the inconvenience...! Come on people, customer service is not that hard (I used to waitress). As it was, we only stayed for the quiz and 100% will not be going back. This used to be a lovely pub but the customer service really lets it down these days. So many great pubs in Worcester, I wouldn’t bother with this one anymore.

Visited today with a good friend. We walked in to find Jo and Vicki very welcoming. They were full of energy and obviously happy to be at work. We ordered mixed grills and couldn't fault the food. Didn't have food so can't comment. However I love this pub, great staff, great prices & great atmosphere!

I booked the snug area in advance for a group of 20 people. Our group had a mixture of support staff and adults with learning and physical disabilities, who all ordered food. Terry behind the bar was polite and helpful, and everyone enjoyed the food, ease of access for wheelchairs, and nice relaxed atmosphere. This has been our favourite location so far our meet ups, highly recommend.

Really enjoy coming to the Talbot for food and drinks, the weekends are always busy but the staff are still on top form.

I’m a new student at Worcester uni and I have to say this is one my new favourite places to go. The staff are friendly, they have great deals on drinks 2 for £5 on jägerbombs, £5 for 5 sourz, 3 for £5 on shots. Also only double up £1.50 extra! Also get 20% student discount when you show student ID then they give you a Talbot card to use. Me and my friends agree this is a great place for pre’s or to stay all night

Had a lovely evening. The staff were friendly and made us all feel welcome. We had some food and it came out quickly and tasted lovely.

I went for my friends birthday for some drinks and the service was impeccable. Staff were friendly and able to have a laugh. We ended up ordering some food. The service was fast and the food was amazing. They also have a pool table which is great for a large group.

Was a very busy shift and the bar staff that were on were brilliant. Really enjoyed my experience.

Great pub to watch the football and have some food.

Hadn’t been to this pub for years, and won’t be going back. Just popped in with some friends for a drink. The staff were not very helpful or on the ball and the beer was not in great condition. The place looks tired, and the male toilets were not what I would call clean. A working hand dryer might be nice…. The only redeeming feature is the Pub Cat! To top off a terrible visit, I had the pleasure of getting a parking ticket in the pub car park. I didn’t see the signs as I arrived as was running into the pub through the heavy rain, but there were not any signs in the pub to inform you that you needed to register your car. Maybe a sign on the bar? It seems that unless you pay with a card or take some photos to prove you were in the pub, there is no way of getting out of the parking ticket. Thanks for that.

Not the best experience with the service left wanting on multiple levels.

Had my surprise 60th birthday meal here last week with my family an friends. Service was amazing and the food was spot on , all 25 meals where perfect . All staff were amazing ,happy to grab extra colouring for the kids which kept them happy. All round a lovely place to go . Look forward to visiting again soon .
