The Slip Tavern is closed and no longer .an inn so don’t bother visiting it

We came here for a private function to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday. We were greeted with a lovely warm welcome in a beautiful warm, candlelit restaurant. Ann-Marie and the team were absolutely amazing, they provided outstanding service all night long and the night went perfectly. The food, drink and service were excellent, would love to go again.

We love dining here. Service top notch. Quality of food is always exceptional. So lucky they're on our doorstep. Recommend their Sunday lunch!

This was my first visit with a group of friends and it won't be my last when I next come with my wife to enjoy this wonderful olde worlde pub in the country. Fantastic decor and furnishings gave it a cosy and relaxing feel as soon as I walked through the door. I was warmly welcomed by Abbi whose service was second-to-none. We all enjoyed the food (thanks to Layne the chef) and left our plates completely empty! Hannah the manager must be congratulated for her care and supervision to ensure that the whole pub was clean, comfortable and attractive. Angie the matriarch was also on hand to provide her full support. All in all, a wonderful experience. Thank you all for making our whole group feel valued guests.

Walked through the door to be shouted at " No Dogs in Here". That's fair enough I understand not all places allow dogs, but there are only signs that say dogs on leads and clear up after your pet, nothing that says No Dogs in the cafe. We left and went elsewhere. No need to be that brusque.

Another wonderful meal, without a doubt the best restaurant of this type in the area. Have been several times and always the same great standard unlike a lot of places where the food isn’t consistent.

Unfortunately the restaurant at Westons was full so we thought that we would get a snack at Hellens. Bad mistake The menu was very limited. It felt like we had stepped back into the 1950's. Grated cheese and pickle sandwich (or you could have the grated cheese and pickle sandwich!). We both had the grated cheese sandwich at east with mayonnaise. It was very pappy roll with grated mousetrap cheddar. Neither of us ate all of it. Decent selection of drinks and ice creams. Very friendly service. Being honest try to eat before you go here otherwise be prepared for disappointment. The three stars are 2 for trying and one for being there but zero for the actual food choice and quality.

Come here every year for a family meal and the staff and food are always excellent. Having two young children it's not always easy to keep them occupied over the course of a meal but having the toy corner and book swap, while just a small touch makes all the difference. Will be back again!

The Beefeater beside the hotel has been shutdown, it was a great pub/restaurant, there is a restaurant inside the Premier inn but not a patch on the Beefeater, probably wont be goi g back. Used it at least 10 times last year.

Sunday lunch menu offered roast pork. Normal restaurant/gastropub pork is sliced thin. This was a good inch thick and on the bone. Not dried out. Deliciously just so. Such a generous serving that we took some home for supper. Our table also had fish and chips and the mushrooms dish. Also v good, and service charming. We sat in the snug by the wood burner.

Poor show! Turned up at 8pm on a Wednesday for the place to be closed even though they are open to 9pm on the website! As I’m writing this other potential customers are also being turned away so clearly it’s not because of lack of customers. Absolute waste of time even attempting to come here as this seems to be the case a lot of the time too, not just on this visit.

Worst KFC ever! We called into his KFC for the first and last time. Although food is served fairly quickly the standard was poor, No juicy white chicken just pale grey greasy meat.the indoor bins were full with waste and the unisex toilets disgusting . I don’t want to share a toilet with a man who pees on the floor and over the pan Avoid this restaurant at all costs
