Unfortunately the restaurant at Westons was full so we thought that we would get a snack at Hellens. Bad mistake The menu was very limited. It felt like we had stepped back into the 1950's. Grated cheese and pickle sandwich (or you could have the grated cheese and pickle sandwich!). We both had the grated cheese sandwich at east with mayonnaise. It was very pappy roll with grated mousetrap cheddar. Neither of us ate all of it. Decent selection of drinks and ice creams. Very friendly service. Being honest try to eat before you go here otherwise be prepared for disappointment. The three stars are 2 for trying and one for being there but zero for the actual food choice and quality.

Had a cream tea here before taking a tour of the house. Reasonably priced, delicious and nice to sit out in gardens in brilliant sunshine. Hope they can branch out into sandwiches or other lunch items apart from soup , but would need more space & staff! It would be lovely to have an alternative to the things National Trust properties provide. The attraction of Hellens is that it is still a family home & a family run enterprise. Loved the place, how I wish I lived near so I could visit every week!

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Outstanding gardens and although it was busy it didn't appear crowded. The tea rooms were excellent. Very good choice of drinks and amazing home made cakes. Well worth a visit.

What a waste of resources this place could be a gold mine very very basic selection of food not a sandwich in site , i had soup cant fault it wife had coffee (cold) and scone very nice shortage of seats the lady serving was on her own its just so frustrating to think what this place could be making. The whole place is just falling to rack and ruin had a guided tour not really that interesting the house is just awful leaking ,crumbling and uninviting. The garden well what a disaster a few bits of modern art if thats what you call it pathetic veg plot i think i will stop now because i know readers will say i am just moaning its just a shame such a beautiful place is going to be no more in a few years the way its being run .

Lovely home-made cheese scone and a cafetiere of coffee - perfct way to round off a walk around the grounds and gardens (no entrance charge!). If I lived locally, it would be a regular stop off spot.

Visited gardens earlier and returned later in the day. Tea room is beautiful inside and lovely outdoor space with table positioned around a large pond. Lady who served us was so very nice. We had a cream tea for two and took home some strawberries all for £10.50. All were delicious. Highly recommended

Genuine home made jams and scones - proper tea - not overpriced - and you sit amid a load of fantastic old paintings to eat them. Plus charming and friendly service. Well done to the lady who runs this place. and makes the jams. Superb.

We visited having walked round the gardens following the sculpture trail. Very nice cream tea, nice scone with enormous cafetiere of coffee - enough for 3 cups. Friendly waitress wearing face shield. All tables outside at required distance.

4 friends, 1 a birthday girl, organised an afternoon tea at Helens, brilliant food lovingly prepared by Sam who was so nice and caring, provided us with excellent service and she served us with a smile at all times and made sure that we had all that we needed, extra tea and coffee and milk. The gardens are also worth a visit, peaceful and quiet, teaming with lots of butterflies and bumble bees. Excellent afternoon

This beautiful old building has an amazing history. I particularly liked my visit as this home seemed to be left in the condition that it originally had been. The experience was very enjoyable for me as I love history. After which we all tucked into a traditional tea with lovely cakes.

We chanced across Helens a historic Manor House, before a tour of the house we had the statutory cup of tea and cake. The best lemon drizzle and carrot cake I’ve had for some time, exactly as they should be and a pot of tea for 2 which provided 6 cups of tea and more. The staff are friendly and chat. A very pleasant afternoon and excellent value and service

Great cakes and lots of tea, friendly service and not rushed. Take time before or after a house tour for refreshments as well worth it.

It is nice to see that the tea room can be rated as a separate entity to the house as it holds its own and compliments the tour perfectly. The tea room offers homemade soups accompanied with fresh homemade cheese scones or homemade cakes and cream teas with a selection of potted teas. The standard of baking was wonderful. The cake we ordered was moist yet light and full of flavour with a delicious buttercream filling. We also chose to have a cream tea with home made scones, jam and clotted cream. The lady running the tea room, she is also the baker, was very friendly. Nothing was too much. The same could be said about all the staff.

Can't actually review the inn as it was closed due to flooding, however the staff were beyond helpful; arranging a booking elsewhere and driving our party back up the hill to the Symonds Yat rock, where we'd parked. Pete also stood us a round at the new venue. Not necessary but much appreciated. Good old fashioned customer service and we'll certainly be back in drier weather.

One of the most unfriendly pubs I have ever been in. After a walk this morning I popped in for a pint. I put my bag by a table as I ordered and I assume the manager came past and literally kicked the table against the wall. I then went and sat at a small table in the corner, and the manager came over and aggressively told me I would have to move in half an hour. I drunk up and left. I have been in many pubs in my life and this was the most unpleasant attitude I think k I have come across. There must be better pubs in the area who welcome there customers.

The food once again was spot on and there was a lovely atmosphere in the full restaurant. All the staff, from the young lady who greeted us to the serving staff were friendly and attentive. The only down point of the evening was the length of time we had to wait before being served our starters and then mains. Even when we asked to pay the bill, we had to wait a long time before the card machine was brought to us. Whether this was due to being full...? However, this has not dampened our overall thoughts and we will definitely return.
