Had a starter that was lovely my wife and me both had gammon steaks my gammon was over cooked my 2 eggs were fine my wife's were hard she then went on to taste egg shell in the whites of her egg a waitress had asked us if everything was ok that was before my wife found the shell she said we should of told her that when I asked you and didn't apologize at all and took you plates and stormed off what sought of manners is first and definitely last visit the chief obviously needs training to how to cook a fried egg

Family meal for 11 and it was really nice food. Highly recommend

Always had a great meal here, and it’s just a beautiful old style pub. Somehow, we always seem to get placed by the fire which is great to have a warm by. Lovey Sunday roast on this occasion.

Brilliant pub food with REAL pineapple! The Butchers arms is a great pub with lovely staff and a fantastic chef. Whatever you order will be well cooked, tasty and generously portioned. The gammon is amazing and is served with real pineapple rather than the usual tinned round offering!😂 The pub is cosy and there is loads of outdoor seating, covered and uncovered. It’s well worth a visit.

Fabulous food as always. It should come with a "health warning" as the portions are enormous!!! DO NOT EAT anything b 4 you go! But they do do "doggie" bags!

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere, we'll worth its reputation and the 4th or 5th time I've eaten there. We went for lunch with my 90 yera old Nan and after the shambles of a roast from a 5* establishment in Essex for her birthday few months back. To the amazing roast we all had for lunch yesterday was night and day, the meat was lovely, the potatoes all3 types roast, daulphonwa and boiled were very tasty and I do love a Yorkshire and some stuffing. The pig in blanket was a welcome addition as well. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Delightful country pub, lovely old inn with wooden beams, the food was excellent as was the service, the staff were very friendly and attentive. The garden was a delight to sit out in after our meal. The meal was great value too.

Went for Sunday lunch today, absolutely fantastic food and plenty of it. We were a party of 12 and mostly all had different meals, all of which came out together . Staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We will most certainly go there again.

There was a band and BBQ when I went and clearly lots of locals having fun. Only one poor woman on the BBQ and a long queue at the bar, probably because of the event, hence 4 stars. I'd go again for sure.

Amazing steak pie. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Desserts often an afterthought were very very good A great evening.

Had a midweek dinner here and would definitely recommend, good food for good value!

I was there celebrating a friends special birthday and had a great time. I was part of a large party but even so the staff were very efficient and welcoming plus they have a very cosy beer garden out the back ad well as some lovely views of haugh woods. I had the pan seared seabass which was cooked to perfection. Just take note a be nice to max 😀 I've recently visited the Butchers Arms and thought I would update my review (30/03/2024): As expected We had a fantastic lunch! The atmosphere was lovely and welcoming, and the view from the beer garden overlooking Lenacre's Ford was delightful. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The food was a real highlight - my bacon and brie ciabatta with fries was delicious, and my wife and son were equally impressed with their tempura battered king prawns and wholetail scampi. The portions were generous, and the ingredients all tasted fresh and high-quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend The Butchers Arms to anyone looking for a great pub meal with a beautiful setting.

Absolutely fantastic place ,food is fresh and very tasty and good size portions,we had 4 starters 4 main and 2 bottles of wine and 3 pints of lager £150. staff friendly, reasonable prices ,that good we booked up again and going to try a Sunday lunch aswell in April ,this place it well worth a visit

An absolute gem of a pub! Beautiful location & most definitely the best Sunday roast I’ve ever ate out! Generous servings and freshly cooked. Locally sourced meat with a friendly service. Excellent value for money. Thank you! We had travelled 90 minutes to meet friends there and we were all really happy and satisfied. The 3 children loved playing outside by the stream. See you again!

Fantastic country pub oozing character, along with a Sunday Roast that ticks all the boxes, and staff who look after you and keep you smiling! It may be off the beaten track, but seriously worth visiting, and make sure you book in advance, the place is busy, even 'off season'... We will definitely be coming back

Brilliant staff. Just really friendly service by everyone, especially the lady I assume was the proprietor. We went for Sunday Roast and it was as impressive as the other reviews make it sound! Huge portions, lots of veg, tasty gravy and the pork itself was SO tender. Excellent value. Pretty good coffee too. We will definitely return!

Doesn't get any better than this. Top meal and a great pint of Guinness.

I had delicious gluten free fish and chips here with a lovely pint of local cider.

This is a lovely country pub and their portion sizes are incredible. The homemade lasagne was huge and delicious!! We were very happy that they do take away desserts otherwise they would have had to roll us out of the door. We will definitely be going here again.

Staff friendly and helpful. Warm night, good atmosphere. Food could have a bit more finesse and a lot less bulk. I had mussels which had gone just past their best, so slightly tough. Probably kept warm after cooking. My dinner companion had sea bass, again just past it's best, probably kept warm. Puddings straight from a freezer pack, disappointing.

What can I say other than thank you for restoring my faith and confirming to my family that i'm not just an old tight arsed cynic. Invariably, our journeys lead to the kind of family experiences which renders me feeling either underwhelmed or like i've been robbed for substandard dining. Im the silent (very British) diner who politely nods his reluctant approval when asked because I loath the notion that standards are met ONLY on request...!! The Butchers arms are clearly proud and want (it would appear) to deliver the kind of experience which has long been absent. where family can engage and enjoy each others company without this being interrupted by the awkward mood killing discussion regarding poor service or quality of food presented. The decor, was homely, clean and comfortable. The food (must mention the Exceptional Steak & Ale pie) was generously portioned, fresh, hot ,and delicious. (As were the deserts! - salted caramel profiteroles & Bakewell tart /custard were given universal approval too). All in all, this was a very enjoyable experience and worth every penny!..... What more can you ask for!!

Great roast dinner, fresh vegetables, good size portions, £33 for us both, included pint of bitter. Parking close. Friendly and helpful staff, garden pods looked really nice although we sat indoors. Definitely recommend if you are in the area

6 of us went for a meal last week here. Incredibly delicious food, large portion sizes and value for money, The team and the service they provide is second to none. Both the cleanliness of the place and the atmosphere is outstanding. We have all planned to makr a regular return

Well what can I say, it was absolutely amazing I had the vegetarian curry platter so much food but delicious hubby had the surf and turf which he thoroughly enjoyed, Helen is such a fantastic chef, credit to her, we will return.

Great value great food in wonderful countryside

Food was fine but the music being played was very loud rock music which wasn't conducive to having a meal with a friend on a Sunday afternoon and trying to chat. Despite asking for it to be turned down a little (not off) we were told this wasnt possible as other diners wouldn't be able to then hear in other parts. Maybe they need to consider relocating the speakers so they are not right about some tables or at least change the music to something less intrusive.

Always worth a visit, good food at sensible prices. Always busy so pays to book your table.

I would like to give an absolute raving review about this place! We arrived in our motorhome asking if we could possibly park at far end of car park if we booked dinner. The staff were incredibly welcoming and agreed. The interior of this quaint period property is absolutely delightful and ' quirkely current ' Great friendly atmosphere from efficient bar staff,. We ordered from both specials menu and regular menu.excellent choice. Our meals were Superb and probably the most delicious best food in this area. Truly exceptional, worthy of 10/10 and DEFINITELY worth a visit . Will most certainly be recommending this place for a long time to come!!

Havnt been to the Butchers Arms for many years, was recommended to go & try the Sunday lunch there. Was not disappointed, absolutely delicious 😋. Booking is advisable as it was very busy when we went. Good choice of meats & the veg accompaniment was lovely too. Didn't have room for pudding but the choice was good on those too.

Bit of a rally experience to reach this off the beaten track pub, but the food and welcome were good.

Proper pub grub 🍲, good portion sizes and very hearty meals. They even do takeaway! There’s an almost medieval ambiance, with tucked away rooms, low beams and cosy fires. A locals favourite ❤️

Had a fabulous meal here. I had the steak and ale pie which was very good with generous portions. The bread and butter pudding was the best I have ever had (and that is many)

Lovely place, attentive staff. Service could have been a little quicker but in all fairness it was pretty busy so could be expected. Ordered steak and what I recieved was absolutely sensational. I'd give 6 stars if I could. We had peppercorn and Stilton sauce with the steaks we ordered. Both were exceptional.
