We had a good experience here. Some simple and delicious food from a simple menu with good service and in a nice small garden protected by a canopy while it showered around us. Good place.

Me and my wife came in Saturday for brunch. We didn't book so we got lucky when there was a table for 2 inside as all other tables were taken or reserved. Service was very good and food and drink came just as quick. We both had French toast and for me personally would have been nice to have some berries with it and not just bacon and maple syrup. It was delicious but for the portion size the £11 we paid I would say was a bit expensive.

My wife and I plus our small dog, always enjoy a coffee here. As it was a sunny morning we sat outside on this occasion. We chatted to the couple on the next table whilst enjoying our beverages. The staff are always extremely pleasant and polite. If you enjoy a slice of cake they always have a delicious selection to choose from.

Food was good and friendly staff.

Met a friend here recently for a coffee and a catch up on a very cold Saturday morning. The tables were stating that they were reserved for lunchtime bookings, however as we were much earlier, we were permitted to sit there and enjoy our coffee and people watch, the shoppers in Church Street. The home baked cakes are always delicious and so is the lunchtime menu. It’s always a delight to have some time in their courtyard to dine al fresco when the weather is fine too. Great polite service with friendly staff.

Popped in for a spot of brunch. Recommend scrambled eggs on sourdough bread (£7, 3 large eggs) - it was filling, perfectly cooked, delicious. Very pleasant welcome, good coffee and tea. Tasty lunchtime specials too. Recommend reserving a table at lunch time as many were reserve for later. They will squeeze you in but ask that you do make the table available for the reservation time.

Lovely chill café with relaxing low-fi music. Sit in the window to watch the world go by. Breakfast is recommended, cooked to perfection

Our first visit and we were delighted - the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was charming - we will definitely be going back.

Meal a present from family, slow to serve us, but once order taken service improved. Not the warmest place to sit and eat.

What a gem, mid week lunch with my husband and we were not disappointed. Food was amazing, we sat outside in the lovely courtyard with a chilled glass of wine, perfect. We will definitely be visiting La Madeleine’s again..and again.

From outside, a modest little eatery in a narrow street in Hereford. But what a gastronomic experience! I have been fortunate to enjoy food in some famous establishments, including recently Ynyshir in mid-Wales, which was fabulous. However, the dinner provided to me and my motorcycling buddy by Ed, chef-patron at La Madeleine, came a very close second. The ‘beef three ways’ looked gorgeous served on a wooden platter. The piece of steak was cooked perfectly and was exploding with flavour. The cylinder of compressed pulled beef cheek was similarly flavoursome and covered with intensely crunchy panko breadcrumbs, adding a welcome textural contrast. The little pot of baby onions and slow-cooked beef was sublime in its buttery unctuousness. The chips were the best I have ever tasted (and that includes Ynyshir). Our waitress, Evelyn-May, was utterly delightful and coped gracefully with a bit of gentle banter from two old men. She found time to chat with us warmly and made us feel welcome and nurtured. We loved her hair! I am busy planning a second visit even though it will involve travelling again from Northern Ireland, to allow my wife to experience this very special little restaurant. As long as Ed can promise to cook us the same dish to precisely the same standard.

Nice place to grab a coffee or get some decent food, bit more hidden then some other places but on one of the nicest streets in Hereford, been a few times and it's always been good food with something different to other places in Hereford.

Popped in for lunch, lots reserved tables. Unfortunately a long 35 minute wait for our food with no warning by service staff (which was only warmed up quiche and steak sandwich with French fries ) Portion sizes very small and seemed over priced for quantity of food served ie Jan's Quiche with tiny salad and spoonful potatoes £12 We have eaten happily here before and so todays experience has put me off going here again as took so long for food to arrive and had to pay for additional parking to eat our food comfortably without rushing.

Popped in for lunch. No booking but they accommodated (Lots of reserved tables), Some items missing from the menu but we had an alternative which was very tasty. Portions, we're on the smaller side but well presented. They forgot us, so dropped a star on Service.

A busy kittle place with amazing food. We went for breakfast as me and my husband had a rare day off together. My frech toast with berries and mascapone was so tasty. My husband enjoyed his equally.

Visited today for lunch. Now our go-to lunch stop when we're visiting Hereford. Consistently good food...fresh, great quality, top notch cooking and presentation. Excellent front of house, too, especially Nikki. Thank you, to all the wonderful team at La M....see you again in February!

Such a lovely cafe! This is my favourite place to go with friends for breakfast or coffee. The food drinks and cakes are exceptional. Service is also very good. If you are looking for a cute little cafe, I’d recommend this one.

Exceptional food and a great evening out. It is not very often that I cannot find any fault with a meal. Everything we had to eat was outstanding and the staff were very good too. Would certainly recommend to others and if they cook like this all the time then they will definitely end up with an award of some kind 🌟

The service was very poor, my wife and I had grilled tomatoes on toast with fries. Not much for £10 especially when you have to ask for the fries which had been forgotten! When we finished we were not asked if we’d like desert or coffee. Very disappointed and won’t be going again

The food and ambience is always good here, but tonight was simply the best meal we’ve ever had… for starters we had heritage tomatoes beautifully presented with a tomato consommé, and home-made crab ravioli, followed by beef bourguignon with summer veggies and an aubergine and feta stack that was so delicious. Desserts were chocolate fondant with a to-die-for warm butterscotch sauce and strawberry, meringue and creme anglaise sauce, followed by coffee and cognac. The wine was luscious , the service fabulous… such a lovely lovely evening, eating outside with candles and fairy lights- thank you for such a beautiful meal 😍

A pleasant if uninspiring looking venue. We had fast and friendly service of drinks, but slower arrival of some unusual takes on French classic dishes from the small kitchen. I'd like to recommend this place, but they could try a mite harder.

First time at La Madeleine- excellent food and service, very friendly staff, cannot fault anything!! Very limited menu but there's something for everyone, which means they take extra special care to present the food, so it's actually a bonus having restricted choice. I wish more restaurants operated this way.

Fully booked at 1 on a Saturday. Good atmosphere and service, small menu but all looked delicious. Decent coffee. Decent value for money for the quality

Such a friendly and welcoming place. Had a lovely lunch of Nettle and Cheddar Cheese tart, absolutely delicious. Sat out in the garden, cozy blankets to keep us warm and lovely staff looking after us. Thank you.

The must place to go for the Best hot chocolate. A welcoming ambiance with friendly staff and good food.It soon becomes a regular place to go. A weekly treat for myself and my friend.

Beautiful cafe with secret garden area out the back. We turned up shortly before closing time and they were so welcoming. Luxurious hot chocolate, indulgent brownie, great coffee and the polenta cake melted in the mouth.

A really lovely place to stop for a coffee or for more, great food and super friendly. The garden is lovely in good weather, so pretty. It always feels a treat to visit La Madeleine!

I had a table booked today for a birthday lunch. When I turned up I found you closed. Now I understand that in the current climate with covid places are having to shut quickly, but did you not have the decency, manners and good customer service to have texted me to let me know that you would be closed. Less than two minutes of your time and at least I would have known.

High quality food in a quiet family run restaurant . Nice outside area. Everything we ate was perfect. Feels a little like you are in a French village with the surroundings even though you are in the heart of Hereford city centre. Recommended

Delicious coffee in a charming location off a cobbled street, adjacent to many other interesting shops & eateries. Friendly service, lovely little courtyard garden too! Didn't try any food but served breakfast & cakes which looked good. Would visit again for breakfast or lunch.

Very shabby food and expensive for what we had

La Madeleine is our favourite restaurant in Hereford. The garden out the back is beautiful and quite sheltered so even lovely on a sunny but cool and breezy day. The food is of exceptional quality and very fairly priced. I love that their menu is small as I know everything is freshly prepared. Highly recommend the four cheese and caramelised onion quiche and the steak sandwich.

We had our wedding reception at La Madeline in July and it was absolutely perfect! The garden was the most beautiful setting, the food was delicious and the service was faultless. Special thanks to Nikki who made the whole day run like a dream, to Jan for producing all of the outstanding food and to Chris and Ed for making the planning process so enjoyable.

A simply perfect place to celebrate the marriage of our daughter and her new husband. I cannot fault the service we were given from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious and in abundance, the staff extremely attentive, and the atmosphere delightful! The courtyard garden provided us a private intimate space to party the afternoon/evening away! Great afternoon tea here on recommendation from a friend. Literally so much food they packed some up in a bag for us to take home. Sat in the undercover garden. Lovely way to spend the afternoon. Def recommend.

Lovley little place to pop in, but I would recommend booking in advance as it's always busy and quite often have to turn people away. There also dog friendly but it is out side only I believe. The staff are friendly and the food is good and so is the coffee.

Lunch on wed 9th, very welcoming,nice garden table. Drinks and food order taken quickly ,. 30 minutes later were asked to remind waitress of order which then arrived in another 15 minutes. Steak sandwich arrived cooked medium rare as we had not been asked how we wanted steak cooked. Sent back to kitchen and arrived well done. This did not turn out as a relaxing lunch, drinks taken off bill. Asked why delay and told order ticket got blown away. Won't be back again

Nice meal with reasonable prices

Some of the best service I've had this year and the crust free quiche is incredible!! I have ibs and eating out os always difficult. The staff couldn't have made it easier and turns out there were loads of food options all made fresh. Also, such a goodI can't recommend La Madeleine's enough!
