Only drinks available here on Sunday. Felt rather uncomfortable when we walked in as literally everyone turned around as we entered. Perhaps we took someone’s seat? Anyway we had drinks and left as felt very unwelcome. Toilets not great but functional
Service was excellent, greeted with a wonderful smile. All their gelatos are made on site, if you are on your way to Chester, stop at Frodsham and treat yourself to one of their delicious gelatos, I highly recommend the trifle and strawberry flavours.
We had a special event here for my partners menu. Hengata was absolutely incredible! They prepared a totally new tasting menu for the occasion which was much better value for money than anywhere else in Harborne. The food was perfect and the chefs and the waiting team couldn’t have looked after us better. Thank you to the Hengata team!
Really disappointing to see what has become of this place. What used to be so friendly and full of life now feels like a soulless cash grab. NFTs? Really? I don't understand what has happened over the past year or two. This café has squandered its once great community and become something unrecognisable. Sure, the board games are still there, and the food is serviceable. But compared to what it was, that's just not enough for me anymore.
Been to this place a few times always had good hot foo, good staff and good service, the menu is basic but what they do is good, nice space between the tables, and a clean area.

Experience the ultimate in Chinese cuisine at Summertown on Oakhurst Road! This culinary gem offers a seamless experience from order to delivery, with the owner's personal touch. Enjoy fast, efficient service and dishes that are visually stunning, bursting with fresh flavours, and served steaming hot. Prices are surprisingly fair for the exceptional quality. Every bite is a revelation, and leftovers, if there are any !!! ¿¿¿.... they are just as divine the next day. A must-visit for anyone craving authentic, mouth-watering "Chinese food!' 👍🏾👍🏽👍🏼👍🏻😋🙂🙃💖
Having visited as a couple for tea and cake & as a group of 7 for afternoon tea, I would strongly recommend it. I’ve had many afternoon teas and the balance of what was provided was perfect and one of the best I’ve had. It was great quality and the ladies that work there are lovely. We all felt so welcome and everyone enjoyed the experience. A real gem .
Took my kids here for ice creams. Ordered one in a tub as my 5 year old is coeliac so can't have a cone. Asked if the ice cream contains gluten and the girl serving said she didn't know. Asked if she could check in ingredients and she said she couldn't. Asked if she had any allergen information and she reluctantly picked up a pile of paperwork and said it didn't say.
Decided to take the risk as ice cream is usually ok. She then presented me with an ice cream in a cone. Reminded her that I asked for a tub. She then turned her back to me, but craning my neck I was able to see that she just tipped the (now contaminated with gluten) ice cream into a tub and tried giving it to me.
I asked for a fresh one without any contamination and was then presented with a lump of ice cream the size of a small egg.
"Is that all you get?" I asked. "Yep. One scoop." Came the helpful reply. "Jeez" I answered.
This prompted another member of staff to have a go at me saying "Leave her alone, she's just doing her best."
"Yes but she's just not listening!" Said the lady behind me in the queue, who had obviously witnessed this terrible service.
My 5 year old was really disappointed with the pitiful lump of ice cream, so we had to go to a pub called De Koffee Pot just down the road where they had a whole gluten free menu and the staff were really friendly and totally understood the importance of allergens.
The ice cream there came in proper portion sizes and was actually much nicer too, and you get to sit overlooking the river. Wish we'd gone there first!
So anyway, if you've got coeliac disease, give this place a miss. If you've got any serious allergies, DEFINITELY AVOID or you could end up seriously ill.
Visited with my husband yesterday on a bike ride. Lovely fresh toastie -good coffee and even better hot chocolate. Fruit cake was beautiful. Staff were really friendly.
Enjoyed my visit. I will definitely return.
