We visited the restaurant in October for the first time in a while and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Fresh quality ingredients, great atmosphere and professional but friendly service. We arrived at 6:00 and explained we needed to be finished by 7:00 as we were off to the theatre. Raj delivered as promised and without being rushed, we were able to leave on time, having all commented on the quality of the food. We’ve visited again on 3 November and opted for dishes recommended by the server. The scallop starter, chicken Golap and king prawn jalfrezi were stand out dishes, although all dishes were very good. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our visit and meal at the Pier House, Although the menu is not extensive, the food was excellent. Personally I would like the option of vegetables as a side. (We were amazed that each table had a tall lit candle, they seemed precarious and you could see the dried flower decoration had been singed already. Just thinking, after the previous fire here) Service was very good.

It had been too long since we ate here. We had a great meal, shared a starter and a pudding as one of had steak and the other the carvery for main course. All very tasty and well presented. It was busy but the staff were there when we needed them. Thoroughly recommend The Sun for a good meal.

This is an excellent fish and chip restaurant that offers a bit more than the usual run-of-the-mill place. The homemade fishcakes really were proper homemade ones and so tasty. Although the curry sauce was also homemade, and not typical ‘chip shop’ style, it was quite rich with a fruity taste and didn’t go down too well with the children. However, I had a taste and thought it was delicious! Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions sizes, and seemed to be a bit below the average (£10 for two large homemade fishcakes and chips). We ate inside and were more than happy with a bill of just over £71 for meals and drinks for our group of four adults and two children. Just as an aside, we travelled in two cars and, although I managed to get parked along the side of the road, my daughter had to park in the Exeter Road car park, across the road. Although she paid and got a ticket, a week or so later, she received a fine through the post for alleged non-payment. From the ‘Google’ reviews, it seems that this particular car park has a reputation for scamming drivers. Obviously, this is nothing to do with Squires but it just helps to be aware if you’re parking there.

Went in for dinner on a Friday night. Unfortunately my meal was barely edible but even though I hadn’t eaten all day I still only managed half of it. My partners slow cooked beef was good but my steak pie was overcooked to the point that the moisture had been sucked out of the meat and pastry resulting in tough, stringy beef and a dry, hard crust. The potatoes and gravy were tasty but the accompanying swede, carrots and broccoli were woefully overcooked and literally disintegrated to the point I had to scoop them onto the fork. Highly disappointing meal.
