Decent coffee, however the woman working was so rude it ruined my experience (blonde, wearing a dress and early thirties?) she just made me feel like an inconvenience for wanting to pay. Also the counter was very cluttered and messy, it did not look fully hygienic, she could of spent her time cleaning that rather than doing nothing for the full duration of my visit. Overall I won't be returning and I don't recommend higgler cafe to anyone (at least while she's working).

A quick visit today to see the newly refurbished shop and as always we were not disappointed! Great atmosphere and quality food and coffee. The newly opened seating area is a great addition and has a very luxurious feel to it. Higgler Coffee is always our first stop whenever we are in the area. Can highly recommend.

The staff were friendly, professional and very knowledgeable regarding the amazing array of tea and coffee available. We bought a selection as gifts for friends.

They were busy. Was shown to the corner window table by the waitress where people were just leaving. When I sat down in the chair I realised I was soaking wet. Paid, then spoke to owner on leaving asking him to at least apologise as I was absolutely soaked. He said he knew that a child had previously spillled his drink on the chair but did not say sorry, not only was he extremely aggressively rude, he then said I had chosen the seat, then the waitress denied showing me to the table and he said " I am not responsible for your mistakes". A wet, traumatic and shocking toxic experience topped by an exchange with a a very unpleasant arrogant man who does not deserve to be dealing with the general public

After reading reviews we decided to stop here for coffee while in Axminster. It didn’t disappoint. The coffee is delicious and the staff very helpful. We also bought some cake to take away which we thoroughly enjoyed later. It’s a bit out of the way, but well worth finding.

I've sat in a couple of times recently an stayed for a short while and I have never been made to feel pressured on that I should leave after I have finished my coffee / lunch. Very generous portion sizes always leaving me full with fresh ingredients delivered whilst I was there! Quick to be seated and attended to and an excellent range of food to suit all dietary requirements and preferences. The owner himself is very knowledgeable about coffee with a large selection of teas and coffees to try - slowly making my way through the list! Although the smoothies appear small do not be fooled as they will still fill you up and are very fresh with a good selection of flavor combinations. Sadly limited outdoor seating alongside a road however the interior is full of plants and decorated very stylishly. A hidden (or not so hidden if your local) secrete of Axminister.

I realise that I've reviewed twice now, which is probably over the top 🤣 , but my second experience at the Higgler was just as delightful as the first. I popped in for a quick lunch with my other half this Saturday and was greeted by the same lovely teenage girl, with the same lovely smile as before. Service was as always amazing, the food was delicious and my husband(who was somewhat sceptical of my raving about how amazing it is )was just as impressed as I was. It truly is lovely to have these small local businesses, run by local people who provide the best experience possible for everyone, always with a smile on their faces. I also love how the cafe is dog friendly as it always brightens a day to see a furry friend whilst out. Thank you to the lovely staff and owner for my lovely food and experience once again.

I went in to the Higgler for a bite to eat, after a long day of wandering Axminster on Thursday, and was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional food, drinks and also the service. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and welcomed by a very friendly teenage girl, with the loveliest flower earrings, who was very attentive and informative about my queries. The same girl, presumably, also made my coffee and halloumi bagel, which were both delicious and well cooked. This café despite being busy had a very personal feel to it, in a way that a lot of places lack nowadays,I felt like the worker really cared about my individual experience there, rather than just trying to get as many people in and out as possible. A lot of young people these days are very rude, and simply can't seem to want to be bothered with the older generation, but this girl was lovely, very chatty and seemed really interested in what I was saying, which did really make my day. Overall my experience here was very pleasant indeed and I will be returning.😊

This seemed a nice place to head for a proper morning coffee and a catch up with.my boys, both of whom appreciate their coffee. The cafe was quiet when we arrived at about 11:30 but seemed to fill with socilising locals which i regard to be a good endorsement. The place has a lovely ambiance. Relaxed. The staff are attentive and polite. TBH i did expect a choice of coffee blends to be offered on the wall menu as well as the usual different presentations, but whatever the house blend was it was delicious and smooth in my flat white. The cafe sells bags of differing tea blends. Our coffee turned into a light lunch and i was delighted that the food offered included vegan friendly options. My son's dog was well looked after too with a water bowl available and treats offered as well as dog ice cream on sale. Both drinks and food were reasonably priced. A lovely place!!

Well worth finding South Street to get a drink or snack here - it's off the main street through Axminster. I'd been there the day before by myself, just to get a coffee while waiting for an appointment. I was so impressed with the very pleasant and prompt service, that I returned the next day with my partner. On seeing the very generous portion sizes, we decided to share the Cheese and Tomato Toastie. This came with a handful of crisps and some salad greens that were the best I've tasted in a very long time. Apparently they are from Trill Farm Garden just a few miles away. The Toastie was well filled with tasty cheese between slices of excellent (proper) bread We both had tea (Builders and Lady Grey respectively) and had a couple of their own homemade shortbread biscuits. For just over £15 we were very happy with the value for money. Vegetarians/vegans are well catered for within a simple set of menu options. Staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The premises are small, but cosy and comfortable .

We were served by a lovely smiley helpful young woman who was very welcoming and the ambience calm and friendly. They also welcomed our little dog who sat happily on the floor next to us. The delicious coffee was tasty and hot and the accompanying hot milk served in a pretty little glass bottle. We were particularly wowed by the toast which was way more special than the usual in most cafes. The bread was from the local bakery, freshly cut, toasted perfectly and served hot. The local butter was the most yellow I have every seen and was delicious, as was the homemade jam and marmalade served in little jars. It really was an uplifting and unexpectedly pleasant experience on a dull day on the way home from our holiday. Highly recommend.

This is by far the best cup in Axminster.Smooth, rich but not bitter to the taste, thick and a proper Latte.I have sampled the flat whites from here too and they are just as good so is the take away version from the Land rover that serves at some local events.Shop local, support this one man band and enjoy

Told the lady behind the counter she said she wasn't sure if it was a human hair or a dog hair. Like it makes a difference still disgusting.Won't be returning I like to support local businesses but would of been cheaper in Costa and the staff smile there.

This independent coffee shop is run and owned by a chap who is also a Master Wine Taster! His taste buds are second to none if the coffee is anything to go by. Delicious flat white served in a relaxed friendly environment, by people who really care. Don't bother going anywhere else unless you want a bland chain store coffee......this coffee shop is wonderful. The hot chocolate is made with REAL Belgian chocolate and the delicious cake is handmade by his Mum. The type of coffee shop that we all long for in a town. I just had a tea cake with butter . Both very nice . My friend did say her coffee could of been a little hotter . But that was the only fault ., other than that a good place to get a great cup of coffee or a pot of tea . There is also a little crafty shop in the same place so you can browse while waiting for your order.

Don't add sugar as already sweet but delicious . Whilst there we also had the soup with a choice of bread or toast , today's was leak and potato. Very nice . I was so glad we went in as it was lovely . There are only two tables in the shop as it's quite small . But it's set out very well . It's definatly worth a visit if your in Axminster .

Gingerbread house cafe is a lovely local coffee/breakfast/lunch spot on the high st, just up from the beach. I recently ordered a cream tea for two box to be delivered to my mother for her birthday as I live far away. She loved it, it was fresh and delicious and included sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and all the fixings, and she couldn’t have been happier to be surprised on her birthday with a friendly face and a special delivery. They are also very active in the community and offered free lunches for school kids during Covid. A great cafe!
