The 48 in Swindon

We have been there a number of times recently and we love it. Lots of competition in the area BUT there is easily our favourite. The variety, quality of food and the fabulous staff.. would recommend it highly.

A warm friendly restaurant with excellent service from the waiter. The food was delicious and very tasty and it all came out at the same time.

A early evening meal as a group of 6 celebrating a birthday. Food is resally excellent with a small but quality selection - food served was very well spiced and cooked to perfection. We needed a little guidance from the staff on sharing options and quantity needed and they were spot on without over selling. Staff were friendly without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. A great night out on a 70th birthday.

Just had a lovely set meal celebrating Valentine's night with my special other half. You can't fault the quality of the food but the restaurant is so cold. The main door stays open when people enter and leave. The staff were very efficient but rushed off their feet and had a lot of washing up to do when we left. Our only moan about the food is that we asked for both rices and weren't told we would be charged an extra fiver. We paid it though without questioning it and will be back in the future.

Food is good but portions are small for the price we pay, eg, Rice.. we pay £8-9 but that bowl of rice is only enough for 1 person. Please consider the price of rice compared to your charges and appreciate a decent portion to be served.

Top class Thai food and I wish these guys were in London. Tom Yum - spicy and tangy with fresh lime leaves, red chillies and Thai ginger. Tastes perfect to my taste and smothers into the throat. Prawn tempura - I might got the name wrong but the prawn is battered with spices. Lightly spiced and goes well with the sauce. Salt and pepper chicken - this is a common dish in pan Asian restaurants but these got it very right and perfectly goes with a birra moretti. Thai red curry with jasmine rice - rich silly sauce with coconut milk - spicy on one side and also sweet on the other side. Perfect with jasmine rice. Pandang noodles - noodles tossed in wok with crushed peanut and this is so far the best Thai glass rice flat noodles I've had so far. Overall, top quality food with a reasonably priced Thai restaurant which is a hard find. Decent interiors and service is really good. Can't fault anything and I hope these guys continue the hard work maintaining everything on par. Must visit and highly recommend!

We tried 8 other venues as a last minute booking for 7! We could not be more glad everywhere else was fully booked. This place was amazing! Service was excellent, felt personal. Food was excellent. No complaints at all - tasty, presented beautifully and enough without over facing. The prices were brilliant too! Excellent value. We will definitely be back and may try a take out too!

It's a brilliant, cosy restaurant that has all the right ingredients to tickle your taste buds. The ambience is cosy and perfect for date nights or family night outs. The food is extremely well cooked and tasty and fresh. Usually Asian food tastes the same wherever you eat, but this is definitely different. The pad Thai, the Thai curries are just very fresh and deliciously made. The menu is not too extensive but every single item on the menu is brilliant so you can come back again and again to try it all! Please go to this lovely place and enjoy your evening!

We had our first meal at "The 48" and it was fantastic! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff were super friendly, making us feel very welcome. The menu has a great variety, but we especially recommend trying the Duck Tamarind and Beef Yakisoba – both were amazing! As a bonus, we got a free drink to celebrate the restaurant's 1st birthday. Great place, and we’ll definitely be coming back soon

What a fantastic place! We were so glad that we manage to get a table. We just moved to this area and after 3 days of hard work moving our stuff into our new home, we were so looking forward to have our first meal out! The Duck Tamarind, Korean BBQ Chicken Wings, Fish Sambal & Broccoli with coconut rice... OMG, absolutely delicious.Compliments to the Chefs and lovely staffs and Anjana, so warm and welcoming, made our evening just right! Great selection of music too.👌🏽❤️ Definitely going to visit again. Fantastic tasty food and wonderful service. The pad Thai was delicious and despite being packed into a small bowl (as reviewed in a previous review) once tipped out onto a plate there was plenty! All the dishes were delicious - this place is an absolute gem. Highly recommended.

Wow. Was the best restaurant I have been too. I went last night with my mate for his birthday after someone recommended the restaurant. The food was just simply incredible, never tasted food like it. More people need to attend and experience what we experienced.

Booked 'the 48' for our badminton award/social night and we were not disappointed. There were 20 of us and we were given our own function room upstairs, that could have fitted more. The food was so tasty and affordable considering it is such good quality. It felt like we had our own waiter for the evening, who learned our names very quickly as they kindly offered to do the bills individually (as splitting the bill at the end is always a nightmare for large groups), and nothing was to much bother. Thank you Ravi and your team for a fun relaxed evening!

If I could I’ll give 10 stars!!! The most delicious pan Asian food in Swindon. If you love sharing dishes you have to come to The 48. Good atmosphere and friendly staffs.

Another wonderful Dinner at The 48. After a sporting boys night out , we went to The 48 for dinner .. lovely ambience , friendly staff and amazing innovative dishes . Lovely every bit of it !

First visit and was pleasantly surprised how good this restaurant is , the 48 items on the menu all sounded great and the 8 that we had between four of us were brilliant, will definately visit again

Great food and great service, loved it. It was a little busy so the wait for food was 40 minutes but this was explained in advance and not a problem.

You must try The 48, this was our first visit with a group of friends. We had great service from really friendly staff, the food was freshly cooked and lots of choice and comes in a selection of small plates which is great for sharing. Please ignore the reviews that grumble about this, it works! Yakisoba noodles with tofu were amazing, as was the Goat curry, Thai green curry and Pad Thai, just go you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing flavours, freshly cooked, piping hot food. Empty plates all round. Great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes too. Attentive and friendly service.

We came for lunch and we will be back. Perfect portion sizes and a lovely choice of food - very different for Swindon. We had the vegetable teriyaki and the Mongolian crispy chicken, both of which were delicious. Then we had the fish Sambal and goat curry. Mouth wateringly lovely. Desserts were amazing. The set Thai custard with crystallised mango is utterly gorgeous, as is the coconut posset. Warm, friendly service and good drinks menu. Brill.

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. We had a selection of starters and then curries - the portions are quite small but we expected that. It reminded us of the Mowgli chain of restaurants for food and quality. Will definitely be back. The only downside was that the men were disappointed that you had no draughty beer 🙁

The 48 is a ‘Must-Try’ place, whether you are a localite or a traveler. My friend recommended, so I went there with my family while travelling last weekend. Firstly, I was delighted with the ambience and then by the warm welcome by staff. I’d say the Menu has been carefully crafted with care. The best part is the Food; it was authentic, delicious, reasonably priced and we enjoyed every bit of it. Luckily we went for an early dinner, else I’d highly recommend advance reservation. There’s ample parking near the restaurant, so not to worry.

Absolutely gawjus food! Food was well presented service excellent the staff were friendly and accommodating. Make sure you book a table as it gets busy.

The atmosphere was good but I must admit the portion was so small, the taste was good. I ordered Pad Thai and I expected to came in the plate rather than in a small bowl. I believe we do not serve Pad Thai in the small bowl.

Lovely restaurant but stupidly priced starters for quantity - mango and chilli prawn starter £8 for 4 prawns. Pad Thai was tasty. Service was good but I won’t return because of prices and lacking portion sizes.

Awesome and Excellent choices of food. It’s very rare to see pan Asian cuisine and “The 48” is spot on with their food menu, simple yet you still get wide range of choices . We loved it , you will never be disappointed !!

This place has got it perfectly. Food - simple menu with great choices. The food was exceptional. Full of flavour and spice. Best Asian food I’ve had in the uk. Service - again excellent. Slight misunderstanding with our order which was perfectly handled by the staff who were warm and friendly. I think this is an absolute gem. We will certainly be back.

This was our fourth time eating at 48 and, despite being great to start with, it has only got better and better each time. The whole operation seems to have really hit its stride now, the food is consistently excellent and the front of house service ties in with the kitchen perfectly. Some dishes are absolute must-order, the Duck Tamarind, Tofu Yakisoba, Char Siu pork Ribs and Fish Sambal are just amazing, but there are so many excellent dishes you really can't go wrong. Also a mention for the wine list, it's much better than many similar restaurants. Our most recent visit was on a very cold, middle of January evening, so it was great to see the restaurant packed. Our reserved table was the only empty one when we first walked in. This restaurant thoroughly deserves its success.

We enjoyed fantastic food and hospitality at The 48. The goat curry and fish sambal were excellent (yes they are spicy…we even asked for them to be hotter!!) :D The food was served in a tapas style of small plates with a lovely friendly smile from the waiting staff. We are certainly looking forward to coming back.
