Started raining so took shelter in here. Oh my God, thank you for the rain or we would never have stopped in this gem. Great atmosphere and service. Will be back!!

Great pub during the day/early evening with lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great selection of drinks. But it really needs an upgrade to the soundsystem, which spoils it in the evenings. On days where there is no live music, the music is played insanely loudly on the world's worst speakers, which have no bass at all and can't handle the volume, so music is tinny and distorted. Seems like a minor thing but it's quite unpleasant and it makes no sense for a music pub!

Tuesday 18th April 2023 We visited this really friendly real ale pub Great staff cosy pub with easy going background music This pub is a must to visit when in the old Town area of Swindon This was 2.0c in the afternoon. Friday 26th January 2024 Tonight again, this great real ale pub in the old town of Swindon was revisited This pub is a 1 roomed music pub lively busy with a local following the land lord and staff were polite, the 2 real ales were from small breweries i had the Mad Squirrel Pomello citrus it was grand. The bar is interesting with its coins on it. I can not fault this propper English pub power to all involved

Located in Old town, this pub has a generous selection of beers, wines. Most beers are craft ales from local brewers. They also sell organic wine, bottled beers from Europe. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They do not make food on the premises but you can order food from the local restaurants and it will be delivered to the bar. Live music is played on Thursdays and Sundays with the odd DJ session on a Friday/ Saturday. I recommend the place for families, groups even solo drinkers as there is always a person to talk to.

Good atmosphere - a good local, welcoming to strangers. Real and craft ales, board games, occasional live music. Dogs welcome.

Popped in after helping my friend move into her new place. Fab beer and cider.

Costs a little bit more than Tuppence, but could get used to this pub. In a very good position for all those bars in that area to spin off each other. Many a 'all boys outing' had round Od Town bars I'm sure.

Haven't been to a pub this full in years. Loud DJ playing music I've not heard of before. So many varied drinks to choose from.

Lots of new age craft beers to choose from. Not to my taste but a quirky bar in an old haidressers with live music at weekends. Old comics to read, as wall paper, whilst doing your business into cut down beer kegs. Knowledgeable owner who provides extensive insight into the breweries on tap and advice to your preferences. This bar would be one of many on your walkabout in Old Town as there is little parking nearby.

One of the best craft beer outlets in Old Town Swindon. Friendly staff happy to help with choices. Great range of events which add to the atmosphere.

Really enjoyed our night in here, friendly family atmosphere......Great selections of beers and drinks. We loved playing the board games whilst having a drink. It was lovely to see others doing the same xxx Definitely a must!! We will certainly be frequenting this pub again. Next time we do plan to try the food..x

Went out to Swindon to try the local brewery's. Stumbled upon this place by accident. The atmosphere was fantastic. The decour was well suited . When I asked if there was any local beers on tap . The bar staff named every beer and exactly where they were from. Very helpful, and accommodating. Very tasty beer and lots of options

Great vibes with bar staff happy to make an off-the-menu item provided you explain what it is! the inclusion of board games is also quaint. We kept it simple and played some rounds of Connect 4 before calling it a night

A fantastic place to spend time. Friendly staff, homely vibe and great drinks and, if you like, even board games. They also do live music sometimes. Definitely a must-go in Old Town.

A hidden gem. Friendly staff who know their beer, fantastic homely feel and simply amazing beers. You have to try this pub if you love real ales and quality drinks. You get what you pay for and it's worth it. As a CAMRA member of many years, this is the place to visit in Swinton.

My wife and I regularly visit the Tupp and especially in these challenging times want to support top class independent venues. There is a vast selection of drinks available from craft beers, specialist lagers and ciders to gins and cocktails. If you are unsure about what to choose, Jamie, Linda or the friendly bar staff are always happy to help. From the first day since reopening after lockdown the Tuppenny have strictly managed all the Covid regulations and continue to do to ensue the safety of all customers. We love the atmosphere and friendly welcome and consider it to be the best pub in town...pay them a visit and help support a small independent business!

There's a wide selection of drinks available for every taste (not a carling or fosters in sight). The beers are changed regularly so there's always something new to try. Staff are friendly and helpful and it's dog friendly too.

Went with the family for the early evening sunday quiz. Excellent craft beer, great quiz (it covered the age range of the family nicely), friendly bar staff and a good atmosphere. We got there early and plenty of tables were available (430pm-ish) after 5pm there werent many tables left. Not a big pub, but suits us for the great choice in drinks and friendly crowd. Board games are also available.

more of a bar than a pub, lovely selection of drinks and a cornucopia of board games including loads of sets of scrabble, the only downside was the music they played, i know music is personal preference but..... not my taste at all.

Jamie and his team will give you the warmest welcome! They allowed us to host a private event. Nothing was too much trouble. The gin list is fabulous and extensive. The beer is always exceptional and changes regularly. With good coffee and cocktails on offer there is something for everyone. I cannot recommend highly enough. A must visit venue!

Dropped in on a Sunday night for a drink, a mixed clientele which is always interesting, decor is different and definitely not your standard pub fit out. Worth a look.

Called in for drinks before show at Arts Centre. It's a nice quaint pub however i didn't recognise any of the draught drinks they served and didn't really enjoy the lager we ordered. we were sat in the main bar area a few tables in, i know it was a rainy evening but even so i was surpeised to see all the smokers gathering in the front doorway and needless to say all the smoke blowing back into the pub in great clouds and stinking out the pub. Several people even had to ask them to move to enter/leave the pub.

First went here during a day of snow ! And as it looks it’s Definitely a beer drinkers bar but has some great staff who will pretty much knock you up what you ask for ! Always a rotation of beers on draft and cans , as a gin lover they have a great selection as well as whiskeys and rums ! The staff are great , even when your hungover and there’s nothing you want more than an espresso martini they will just make one for your off the hoof , no need to check the recipe they are well versed bar staff ! And I’ve been going back ever since ! Ps love the beer barrel toilets and penny bar top !

We came here with family yesterday evening and were really impressed by the wide selection of beers and gins - you're literally spoilt for choice. The atmosphere in here is great and the staff are open, friendly and very approachable.

We re-visited this nice relaxing place after a curry. The customer service was excellent and environment relaxing. We even played some board games.

I popped in because I heard they might have some Rocking Horse S. on, but they'd sold out almost as soon as it came in. Never mind, spent a fine evening sampling several other options and listening to some great musicians that happened to be on that night. Really enjoyed the night, friendly crowd, easy to strike up conversations (mainly about beer!) and just the right atmosphere for a Thursday night. The diversity of tastes on offer is fantastic and nice to be surprised now and then (listen to the barman). I know some people don't like 'craft' beers but this is just the place to come and change your mind.

This is the first time I visited this pub. A very warm welcome and good bar service. It specialised in Gin. Indeed they have a Gin menu. It was a very relaxing place to meet and felt like someone’s lounge rather than a pub. It was so good we went back there after our meal.

An afternoon in one of my favourite bars with food delivered from the great Helen Browning’s chop house around the corner. Perfect ribs and hot dog to break up the day on a wonderful selection of craft beers (and my favourite cider)

Have become a regular visitor over last few months with both family and friends. Always friendly service from Linda,Jamie and Tom who will always have a chat if its not too busy. Great selection of lagers/beers/IPAs and gins with constantly changing specials so something different is always available..keep an eye on the % strength though as sometimes some seriously strong ones! Also host regular music and quiz nights. Unique bar with character, I would recommend paying a visit

Myself and a friend visited The Tuppenny for the first time yesterday. We were looking for a good burger and chips for lunch and we spotted that The Tuppenny served burgers made from the organic meat from Helen Brownings Chop House round the corner - so we knew the burgers would be good! There were menus on each of the tables so we had a quick look and both decided on the ‘classic’ burger. At £10 plus £1 per additional topping, it wasn’t cheap but were happy we’d be getting a quality burger! We sat chatting and half an hour passed. We were the only ones in there so thought it strange we’d been waiting so long. I had another look at the menu and reading the small print saw it said that our burgers were actually being cooked and prepared in The Chop House around the corner! So if they were busy that would be why we were waiting so long! We thought maybe this should’ve been explained to us at point of order as who reads the small print when ordering off a menu?! Then I re read the description of our burger and noticed it didn’t mention any accompaniments with it, ie: chips or salad. Surely for £11 each we’d get these with the burger?! We also wondered how the burgers would get to us. Would The Chop House deliver them assembled and The Tuppenny plate them up? We were starting to find it abit odd! My friend asked the barman how long it’d be at around 40 minutes and he basically said he had no control over it as they were being made elsewhere. After waiting for 50 minutes someone came into the pub and we realised he was delivering our food. At last! He then opened his bag and took out two polystyrene boxes - a burger in each! We couldn’t believe it. £11 each for a burger in a takeaway box!! Don’t get me wrong, the burger was very tasty but call me old fashioned, unless I’m going to McDonald’s I like to eat my food off a plate. I had to even ask for a fork as the burger fell apart and was difficult to eat.

We called in for a lint and were impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and great range of cask ale. The staff were pleasant and knowledgeable about their ales and I was very impressed with the place.

I’ve visited the Tuppenny a few times since opening and it’s really just getting better and better.

A great bar with an original, slightly quirky interior that added to the ambiance. We particularly loved the interior of the loos - all decorated with extracts from the Beano! Décor apart, the Tuppenny has a reputation for great ales although on this occasion we was sampling some of the great gins and welcomed the opportunity to try some I had not seen before. The next time we are in Swindon we will be back..

This is Swindon’s best craft ale bar. Two cask and eight keg craft beers make this a destination for real ale lovers. Linda / bar crew looked after us perfectly, and the locals are friendly too. Highly recommended.

Went in on a quiet sunday afternoon for a quick half a pint and ended up there for a few hours. Very friendly barman who was enthusiastic and knowledgable about the great range of craft beers (as was his later replacement). Some excellent craft beers on tap were served to us and, as some were quiet strong, were offered in thirds, halves and two-thirds of a pint which is wise. It also allows you to taste a few of those on offer without suffering the after effects of larger volumes. The bar itself allows socialising and there are some nice tables and comfortable chairs. They have board games (we played scrabble). Very impressed with the whole look and feel which suits the craft beer scene. We originally popped in a couple of months ago for a busy quiz night which was fun and well attended. They also have music nights.
