The galettes were the best I've eaten in years. All of them are gluten-free too! The crepes were also amazing. It's such an attractive little place, and with the staff apparently all being French you can kind of imagine you're in France - the food is certainly good enough. Highly recommended.

Read a travel book a while back, about a coastal walker pooing in for a hedgehog ice-cream, made from Cornish clotted cream and was advised to comeback in the morning for their sausages cooked in clotted cream. We tried the ice-cream recently and can't recommend them enough, now need to loose a other stone and possibly a heart bypass..but i will be back! Try to be clever ( out of hours /season or walk down hill) if using carpark, as gets expensive if just going for an ice-cream.

Started well, went down hill not because of food but treatment by very aggressive, intimidating landlord ! We had booked, on entering pub went to bar to buy drinksWe were greeted by a very nice lady behind bar,she asked if we would mind eating in the adjacent room as they were busy. She said she would come and get our order for food and drinks. We walked through corridor full of junk and toilet rolls into other room. This room used to be a nice dining room but now houses tv inside fireplace, numerous notices on walls and a lift that looks like a shower in corner.I imagine this room was not normally used.We did not mind sitting in there, looking forward to food.Lady came and took our orders and brought drinks .We were quite happy and were bemused when landlord entered and seemed quite unhappy that he had to serve us. He demanded to know if we were really hungry and wanted starters ,saying aggressively, most people don't as they would not eat mains. We assured him that yes we did want them.He then said nastily that if that was the case it would take an hour and half for food.We said politely that we did not mind waiting. He then said condiments were in the bar. At this point we were sort of amused by him being so rude ,likening him to Basil Faulty. Absolutely bizarre ! Starters actually came in 30mins ,everything fine.He delivered food, ribeye steaks 20 mins later. All cooked to perfection ,one of our party asked where in the bar the condiments were He replied aggressively again,"they are in the bar where I told you 20 minutes ago !! .OBVIOUSLY it does not register with SOME people !!! " The lady came and asked us if everything was OK and asked if we wanted drinks. We said yes and even complimented her on how nice steaks were. We asked him shall we pay in bar and he said aggressively again "Yes and most NORMAL people order drinks at the bar "He then left the pub. This to me was the last straw ! Up till then we just laughed it off .We are NORMAL people who actually live just down the road ! We were asked to NOT order at the bar but what is his problem besides being a rude, nasty bully.None of this was an attempt at humour. I have NEVER encountered behavior like it,let alone by someone who is suppose to be serving you and taking nearly £90 of your money. I have been told since by locals that he is like this ! I feel sorry for the lovely lady working there. Needless to say we will not be back

Eat here many times with my family good is always spot on and huge portions never had any bad experiences here can't help but think the negative comments are from other cafe owners who are showing their jealousy, and the staff here can never do enough for you really friendly people welcoming place

Experience started off well - can't book dining online so e-mailed request and ended up having to phone - conversation was very friendly and welcoming. From then on it went down-hill. I have some restricted mobility and walk with a stick. Arrive at front of pub and realise its a steep flight of stairs to entrance. Manage up that, holding on to railing. OK welcome when we got in - we were early for our6pm booking but no problem although we were told kitchen doesn't start till 6 (says 5 on website). Where do we sit - here or upstairs - where's the toilet - upstairs - OK we'll sit upstairs. Two young kids around the bar (owner's presumably) - we order drinks and have to start carrying them and menus up steep and narrow stairs to the next floor. Has an eclectic look to the room, plus an external covered patio area. Everywhere has dirt / dead flies and isn't appealing. By then all hell had broken out in a very aggressive domestic back downstairs in the bar - manager and staff (wife?) - all about whether glasses were dirty - this had started in front of one of us while waiting for drinks to be poured - manager part poured a coke held it up and said glass is dirty - poured into another glass and said this one was dirty too - but then proceeded to fill the glass up and hand it over to the customer. The staff member (wife?) denied they were dirty and said she had cleaned them. As we sat upstairs the row just got louder and louder - and was clearly in front of the kids as well. We were the only customers and sat debating to order or to go. The argument suddenly stopped. We were feeling decidedly uncomfortable - no one came near us at 6 to see if we wanted to order. We decided to beat a retreat quickly and went back downstairs to pay for our drinks. The manager did ask us if there was a reason why we weren't staying - we didn't want to get into a conversation about the the appalling behaviour so just left.
