Filter coffee only to wash down a dry flapjack in what is really a car park… come on guys you could do better

I've visited chapel porth for years and honestly it only gets better. The food had always been incredible, but this year was the first time in ages I have had a croque on the beach, as they now have vegan options available too! Everything vegetarian on the menu was able to be made vegan, even the cream, and they had multiple ice cream flavours, alternative milks, cakes, and drinks. Its possible they have for a while and I missed it, but I couldn't be happier. Everything from the meals to the ice creams to the hot chocolate is delicious. There can sometimes be a wait as it gets very busy and it's only a tiny kitchen, but it's well worth the wait, and you're by the beach, life isn't meant to go quickly. Absolutely recommend, even if you're just buying a coffee and a cake, the flapjacks alone are worth a walk down.

Good coffee, delicious pastries that they bake on site. Nice staff. Filled up our water bottles when we asked. Decent toilets available.

Came back here from a previous visit specifically for the hedgehog ice cream and it IS good! This is a busy place and car park isn’t big enough.

Bit out of the way, but we will be coming back because of the brownies - best i've ever had!! Decent tea, not eat-in, more of a take-away.

Best ice cream and large servings! Tried the traditional hedgehog icecream. Rolled in clotted cream and studded with toasted large hazelnuts! Enough to do for lunch. Other choices too. F Meals sounded good too.

For a small little beach cafe, it has an unexpectedly interesting and enticing menu. We only stopped for ice cream and coffee (filter, nothing fancy) and left feeling disappointed we couldn't stay to try their gourmet croque monsieurs.

Gorgeous little café shack right on Chapel Porth beach. This place is an absolute must to visit if you are in St. Agnes. They serve everything here and are famous for their "hedgehogs" (not what you are thinking as in an actual hedgehog) it's their famous ice cream which is not for the faint hearted nor the dairy intolerant lol! Food was excellent, price is not cheap - but nowhere is in cornwall! They also, more importantly, have delicious coffee (decaf too) and non dairy milk, which is hard to get in cornwall! So it was perfect for me. You can pit stop here and pick up the coastal path to either direction of st. Agnes or to porthtowan or spend the day at Chapel Porth beach and just mooch about and watch the world go by. I came here on a Saturday and there was an organised trail run/hike so it was very busy. As it's a small beach/cove, try and get here early to get a good spot and enjoy having the cafe right there. Great loos, too, which is a huge bonus! Dog friendly too and all the staff there were super sweet kind and helpful. There is plenty of parking which you will have to pay for.

Famous for the hedgehog ice cream, today we tried the equally delicious and naughty fox ice cream with clotted cream and flapjack coating. Really good. Would be better if there was more seating but nice alfresco cafe.

This cafe/ walk was recommended by the lovely lady in the RNLI shop in St Agnes- we walked from there. Delicious prawn baguettes and the " hedgehog" ice cream was fab too. Really friendly and good service. Worth the 70min each way walk!

Fantastic food at a great price, service with a smile too . And the location was stunning. Seriously recommend the burger and cheese and giant porky sausage in granary roll. The hedgehog ice cream in a cone looked amazing and they were very popular. Maybe next visit I’ll get to try one.

A lovely place to stop on route along the coastal path. There are only two benches to sit at outside the cafe but plenty of other space to rest. We ordered Croque Monsieur but unfortunately it definitely was not a Croque Monsieur that came out but ham & melted cheese in a toasted baguette with garlic. It was pleasant enough but should be described as such.

Nice small bistro located at a wonderful small beach. Tasty Baguettes freshly made. A bit pricy but after a hike on along the coast a perfect spot for a break.

Lovely cafe very busy which was nice to see. We had a burger and a sausage £7.50 each, they came out and the presentation was fantastic. They was both yummy and worth every penny. Will be back. Really worth a visit.

Famous ice creams! Definitely have one if you’re on holiday here. The various croques are great also. I do wish they offered a larger variety of coffee; filter only, and the decaf is instant. I do appreciate that this could lead to even longer queues in the summer, though!

Went to their Saturday Hatch Night. What amazing food, top end restaurant food from a tiny cafe in a stunning and remote location. Absolutely brilliant! Just be aware that there are only a couple of outside tables (no inside dining), so be prepared to sit on the beach or in your car.

Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices in beautiful surroundings. Hedgehog icecream are one of the best icecream cones.

Saddest, smallest and most expensive hot chocolate ever.

Delicious food, we had a couple of sandwiches which was really good quality but unfortunately waited 15-20mins for them. Not busy but the people who ran it had visitors who were in and out of the kitchen area with their children and got a bit distracted but we got there eventually and it was yummy!

Sensational cafe food. Had the “croque prawns” today - easily the the best seaside scoff I’ve ever experienced. Gorgeous bread, clever cheese and salad background and perfect prawns. Just marvellous.

Next to a fantastic beach, this cafe is highly recommended. The staff are smiley and welcoming. The filter coffee is great, as are the amazing flapjacks! We enjoyed this spot so much that we visited three days running and sampled several of the croques on offer; monsieur, rosemary and crab - all delicious. Ice cold cans from the fridge and the ice creams went down a treat. Perfect spot!

Totally loved this cove within a cove of top tasty nosh. Perfectly small menu of lush. You’d be guessing correctly if you fathomed that the deserving punters have dog-walked, cliff-scrambled, surfed-along, wind-blown & a tad appetite-gathered. The chunky nutty baguettes drip with garlic butter, lavished with herby sweated onions, topped with cheese or sausage or creamy mushrooms, as the 3 of us contentedly chowed down. Completely prepared to return multitudinous times to make our way through every item as well as the ice cream menu, and will resort to a low calorie diet the rest of the year to allow for this new life necessity. Welsh fans of Celtic camaraderie, da iawn cariadau x

Lovley staff, poor service(forgot my Order) I was the only person they forgot give the order to the kitchen.. I waited 35 mins for a sandwich I was the only one there.. great food tho, I want to give it a higher score maybe next time …

In the Chapel Porth Beach Café you can get some small snacks and very tasty ice cream. The whole family enjoyed it, especially because we were able to enjoy it with the great view of the bay.

Very disappointing croque Monsieur.It was ok ham with melted cheese on a stodgy granary baguette.Not really a croque Monsieur.Also the crab sandwich was disappointing.The white crab meat should be left alone on a sandwich with seasoning and lemon.Not mixed with lots of green and red peppers.They should have been separate as a salad.Have been visiting Chapel Porth beach for many years, and every year the croque Monsieur is different!

We had a Croque Rosemary. Granary baguette, with melted cheese, mushrooms cooked with cloyed cream & rosemary. Yummy. Staff friendly and helpful. Not too long a while before food was ready. Followed by an Iced Hedgehog, excellent, worth trying. Would recommend this eating place if you walk the coast path or drive down to Chapel Porth beach car park NT.

Excellent freshly made sandwiches in good quality bread- very big, could probably have shared one and had some crisps. Filter coffee available but no machine so no lattes etc. Also, be aware that it’s a kiosk and there is no indoor seating, though there are toilets.

Iced hedgehog was amazing. Lovely beach with caves to explore when the tide is out. Beautiful place to visit all year round.

Visited for light lunch. Unfortunately not a great experience. Ordered sandwiches but received baguettes, I can live with that but these were stale baguettes, very stale baguettes, likely several days old. Fillings were plentiful which was a slight saving grace.

Famous for its hedgehog ice cream we decided to try something else off the menu, I went with croque de lar mer with prawns (unfortunately ran out of crab) but I had no regrets, absolutely delicious. We also had the classic croque monsieur, what's not to love, cheese ham and toasted in a baguette. Being a small cafe and busy sunny Beach day be prepared to queue and then wait for the food but compliments to the team they do a wonderful job in a very remote area. Love it

Walked from Wheal Coats down to the beach at Chapel Porth and decided to try the cafe there. The selection of food was amazing considering the venue seems to be a small kiosk and the “Croques” were amazing. I savoured the Croque de Mer with more prawns then a sandwich could handle and the Rosemary Croque was enjoyed by others in my party and this was equally well received. The queue was just too long to try the famous hedgehog ice cream afterwards.

I have been coming to this cafe for so many years and it doesn't dissapoint. You must try the hedgehog ice cream and the newer foxy ice cream. Worth any wait on busy days. Well done team.

Great cafe for a stop during your coastal walk. We had coffee, pop and a bun. Coffee was tastey and the bun was great. There was a selection of other hot food but we disnt try, but looked tastey.

On a blustery cold day we had Croque monsieur and onion soup with cheese and bread - just what was needed. Very tasty and hearty!

I popped down for a hot chocolate by the sea. Really disappointed. The 'hot' chocolate was tepid and really watery and £2.50 for the tiniest paper cup I have seen. I took it back and politely suggested it was too weak. No apology, just another weak tepid one to replace it. Is it really that hard to make a descent hot chocolate snd serve it warm with a smile?

I had the BEST ice cream in the world yesterday! The famous HEDGEHOG! If you love real Cornish ice cream, clotted cream and hazelnuts, you will Absolutely love this peace of heaven…. Really lovely friendly staff also. I’ll be back next year hopefully 🙏

The most delicious 'Hedgehog' ice cream I've ever had. Vanilla goodness rolled in Cornish clotted cream and topped off with home roasted crunchy hazelnuts! So good I had to get a second serving!

We ate delicious ice cream, a hot sandwich with bacon and salad, and onion soup. It is a small cafe with a few outdoor tables. There is a free toilet and a medium-sized paid parking lot next to it.

Fantastic views from the walks nearby, the beach is attractive, oddly there is a NT carpark at edge of beach accessed by narrow roads. Full when we got there. The star ice cream to order from cafe is the Hedgehog. Loads of ice cream, loads of cream and masses of nuts.

When we arrived at 10am the national trust car park was full so get there early! The car park that isn't national trust is only £3 for the day which is very reasonable. The walk down to the beach was nice and scenic,once the tide had gone out at around 11:30 there was enough beach to allow us to walk along the coast of and visit some of the multiple caves which were amazing. The sea was clear and cool there was not a single piece of rubbish on the beach 😃 all in all s great day out and a beautiful location. You don't get a phone signal if your on EE or O2.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another of Cornwalls fantastic beaches on national trust land so parking is free if you are a member, plenty of rocks and caves surrounded by sand when the tides out,small cafe in the car park. The hedge hog ice cream is a must,ice cream cone with a dop of vanilla ice cream and a dop of clotted cream covered in nuts.

Decent little café. Was served quickly. Had prawn sandwich, nice, had wanted crab but sold out. Try out their ice cream creations, a hedgehog and a foxy one, forgot the third one. NOTE, a small NT car park there that fills up easy. A nice little cove there to view.

We visited the cafe midway through a coastal walk. The setting is beautiful and the food was amazing. Really good menu too, not your average beach cafe fare! Just what was needed to recharge the batteries for the rest of our walk.

I've been coming to this little kiosk since the 80's! First as an excited child and now bringing my own children. It's as much a highlight / must-do for us as anything else on the itinerary. My son wants to know if there really isn't...

Who knew there were so many variations of a Croque monsieur! And who would expect a beachside cafe to serve them. Such an unexpected treat and delicious. Had to have the Hedgehog ice cream and although not the biggest lover of nuts really enjoyed it.

Cafe is closed until further notice - nothing on the Facebook page about this, just shut when we got there. Covid? Lots of disappointed people! It’s our favourite cafe!

Has the best icecream as usual here at Chapel Porth cafe. I have been coming here for over 25 years to this cafe for this particular icecream and it never fails. Best cornish icecream around !

Amazing onion soup with granary wedge of bread following after walk by coffee and cake. Good clean toilet facilities and if a member free National Trust parking.

Read about the Iced Hedgehog and thought it would be nice reward at the half way stage of our walk from St Agnes. Unfortunately it was very disappointing, the clotted cream was either off or not proper clotted cream. Extremely disappointing.

Best gluten free lunch I’ve had in a while. The croque rosemary (cheese and garlic mushrooms) on the brown gluten free roll, was perfect. My partner loved the croque de la mer with prawns. A beautiful spot with brilliant cafe. A must if close by.

A really cute beachfront cafe run by the most adorable couple. They have a tasty selection of food although the full menu isn’t always available. There’s also a good selection of soft drinks and a lovely seating area plotted in the sun. I’d really recommend stopping of here before venturing across the beach to Porthtowan or over the cliffs to the old mines and St Agnes. There’s also some toilets which is always helpful when heading out for a long walk. Just a heads up: Avoid Tuesday around 11am as the car park have their septic tank emptied, it’s a little smelly.

Such a lovely cafe next to the best beach in Cornwall. The ice cream is delicious and the bacon and mushroom sandwich is so tasty. There’s nothing better than watching the waves crash in while you’re eating a hot bacon butty!

Stopped here on a circular walk from StAgnes. Simple menu, great looking baguettes however we had the hedgehog icecream which is simply fantastic!

With a reduced menu due to covid we sort of expected a burger van type of quality to the bacon/sausage options. How wrong we were. We had the bacon and mushroom sandwich which was servedi in a crusty brown baguette in a tray with lashings of bacon and mushroom. It was delicious and we can't wait to sample the sausage option tomorrow. The service was friendly and efficient. Quite a bit of queuing at busy times but it's a small cafe on a busy beach so this is to be expected.

Very popular when we down on our holidays.The famous Hedgehog ice cream, enjoyed while we watch the waves. Handy for the walkers, and for Wheal Coates.

Lovely cafe, right on the coastal path, good prices and great food. I would have given 5 stars however, the no waste bin policy due to COVID 19 is in my own view not scientifically justified and appears to be a convenient excuse not to collect waste. This policy will inevitably lead to people discarding waste in in appropriate places.

Delicious food and coffee with the kindest staff! My partner and I were walking the SW Coast path and had the a wonderful time stopping here for coffee and flapjack in the morning. We loved hearing the owner's story about her own hike some years ago with a canvas tent and dogs!
