The menu is a tight and crowd-pleasing selection of their favourite things. Tonight, this includes a classic soy-braised short rib dish, a non-meat alternative of tofu with king oyster mushrooms and greens, and a seabass special. We start with a plate of aromatic perilla leaves, wrapped around minced beef and pork, then deep fried in a lacy, fragile batter of hot, cheery crunch. These are god-tier snacks, little pockets of joy, to be eaten as quickly as possible from the deep fat fryer, which is easy because it’s only about 5ft away over there. Dip them in the accompanying sweetened soy and mourn them when they are gone. There is the sturdy Bokman salad made with layers of Chinese leaf, toasted pine nuts, heaps of sesame seeds and a healthy ballast of toasted seaweed, lending a seashore waft to the plate. A mini cauldron of fat-grained kimchi fried rice comes laid with a frilly-edged fried egg. You can have this with shards of roasted pork belly – and you know I was always going to.

We had the sharing starter plate and all the items were really chewy and hard. The chicken stuffed with rice was good but the whole fish was a not special. The service was great but it’s expensive for not top notch Korean on benches elbowing my neighbours.

Best Korean restaurant in Bristol. The food taste authentic like I'm actually in South Korea. It may be a bit more on the pricier side but I think its totally worth it! It's a smaller restaurant so I recommend booking a table beforehand as it does tend to get busy :) All dishes were perfect but I do highly recommend the banchan side dishes to compliment your main meals :)

I couldn’t get a table the previous evening, but had their takeaway!!! And it worked better, I was in early and could sit outside before those tables got snapped up!!! Lucky me, because I did have a dinner date despite travelling solo 😂! The food tasted amazing: spicy, rich & flavourful! Of course I had the soft serve ice cream: the cherry version… why not?! Absolutely delightful. The service was quick, very courteous and I was presented with all steel cutlery, including chopsticks!!! Most place still dish out the single use version, which is annoying. Also, bonus starts for offering grown up non-alcoholic drinks: a delicious pre-biotic soda that was delicious and good for you! ⭐️💚💚💚💚💚⭐️

This is a Korean restaurant run by Koreans. All the food here is delicious, especially the Korean specialty ‘Tongdak’. I had the kimchi fried rice, which was the best kimchi fried rice I’ve had in the UK. Next time I visit Bristol, I’ll try other menus. The servers were very friendly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. If you want Korean food, don’t hesitate and visit! Parking is available behind the restaurant! (It’s very crowded, so I recommend making a reservation in advance.)

This meal was exceptional. Not only was the food some of the best we’ve had in Bristol but the team at Bokman could not have been more accommodating about one of our party’s sunflower allergy, even changing the oil they used ahead of time. The way they went above and beyond for this was reflected throughout the evening. Couldn’t recommend it more.

We attended a special event/ collaboration here last night. All food was excellent and the service had a unique twist to it which we loved! Great atmosphere that reminded us of the south islands of Japan. Chicken was to die for!! It was coming off the bone just as it should; waiter explained the special cooking technique and open fire used at Bokmam. Oh and the home made lemonade was amazing too! Will be back for sure on a “normal” night to try out the regular menu!

Food is unbelievably delicious. Service was very attentive. Atmosphere is really lovely and relaxed but the space we had by the door was really quite hectic for me. I eat out sparingly and it's not cheap so it felt like a bit less of a special occasion because of that. I don't have lots of money so was a bit disappointed by that. But I loved being able to try so much absolutely delicious food. I'll come again for a special occasion but might ask for a seat downstairs instead or away from the door at least.

…this place has been hyped up for a while now and whilst the seemingly high footfall is heart warming to see you can already see standards beginning to slip as demand picks up. The service was impersonal, a touch cold and they were clearly trying to turn the tables over as quick as they can. My oysters were frozen / had big chunks of ice in, but they kindly wavered these off the bill. The chicken stuffed with rice was original and delicious, but the short rib was a touch fatty and not rendered down like you’d expect. I was surprised how unclean the place was, which again is probably down to not being able to handle the demand. Left somewhat disappointed but would give it another chance.

We shared all of our dishes, we thoroughly enjoyed the mixed pickles which I think was the star of the show. The stuffed peppers were amazing too. We found this place while visiting Bristol by chance and were lucky to get a table (well high chairs on the bar)... So I recommend booking! We had the rotisserie chicken stuffed with rice and seasonal pickles and mini side plates... Everything was quite tasty but for me it wasn't Korean enough - almost everything was on the sweet side- even the radish, which I expected to be more spicy with a bit of a gochujang kick... Still tho, I'll go back next time I'm in Bristol!

This gem of a spot might be on the smaller side, but it's all charm, so you'll want to book ahead to dodge the bummer of it being packed out. It's the perfect place for bringing a friend or two since the menu's all about sharing – think choosing a main and then piling on the sides, both big and small plates. I went with a buddy, and let me tell you, deciding what to order was no easy feat because everything sounded amazing. We ended up with the beef short rib and kimchi rice, which were just bursting with flavours and spices – so good! We had our eyes on the chicken and some other sides too but didn't get around to them, so guess what? We're already plotting our comeback to tackle the other half of the menu we didn't get to. This place shot up to the top of my go-to list real quick; it's that good.

First time at Bokman and trying Korean food. The reviews are generally excellent and from my perspective it was good but not outstanding. We had a number of dishes including the chicken, fried rice, and a number of Kimchi dishes. Whilst all were not to my taste, the quality was good. It’s quite a small place and they have seated areas and benches with high seating, personally, I wouldn’t go unless you can get proper seats. Service was excellent, super friendly and helpful chap who served us, we were next to the kitchen and at times it was incredibly hot so if you can get a seat away from the kitchen I would recommend. Prices were fair, we had a beer each and 5 dishes to share (big and small) and it came to £40. Overall not bad, just not quite as good as u had hoped for.

A mixed review. I went for dinner here with a friend and we were told twice from arriving to sitting down that we only had the table for 1hr 30. We were then reminded 20 mins before our time was up and offered dessert whilst still in the midst of mains. Unfortunately this tarnished what would have been a perfect evening. The food is delicious and we’d recommend the stuffed chicken and the boba ice cream for dessert. Sitting downstairs was very cramped and I only had a small stool. More comfortable seating and a tiny bit more space would also improve the dining experience. I remain unsure if I’d recommend to a friend.

After hearing all the hype about Bokman we expected it to be a quirky, unique and fun restaurant. So, we decided to book a table for a birthday treat. I’d like to list some of our experiences; Overcrowded We knew it was a small restaurant but it was full from corner to corner with tables. We felt squished and uncomfortable with the seating. The menu isn’t visible People are either sat in front of the menu on the wall or it is simply too dark to read. The place was dirty and unkept The floors were greasy. The bathroom felt dirty and the pipes were dripping with condensation. A constant smell of burnt fat. Don’t get me started on the fruit flies The lighting is too dark - you can’t even see your food. The food was nice but it was spoiled by the timings of service. We weren’t told that food comes when it is ready. We felt unprepared and hungry while waiting for our meals. The starters came at the same time as the mains which defeats the purpose of even having a starter. Call it a side dish! The food coming when it is ready is not a problem but they should be served in the same sitting, not once everyone else has finished their food. This needs to be explained or be better thought out. The Bokman salad was our favourite dish. The matcha tiramisu was delicious. No cutlery, chopsticks or napkins We arrived to a bare table which remained bare even when are food arrived. We are more than fine getting our own cutlery when we know where it is but this wasn’t mentioned. We had to constantly ask for cutlery with no awareness from the waitress. They don’t have knives which made it hard to eat the whole chicken or the fish. After the meal we were left with unpleasant sticky hands with nothing to clean them with. There’s a difference between informal and unwelcome. The service made us few unwelcome and unwanted. The waitress looked bored and forgot at least 1 item each time we ordered. The only time she seemed happy was once the bill came and the service charge added. All of these problems wouldn’t be so bad if the restaurant hadn’t been so expensive. The restaurant is overpriced. The drinks are far too expensive! The dishes were too expensive for what we received and we weren’t left satisfied. We couldn’t see the bill properly and the service charge felt like a sneaky percentage but what would we know we couldn’t even read the bill in the dark. There is a fine line between cool casual dinning and poor service delivered with overpriced food and the feeling of needing a wipe down.

This visit to Bokman was a mixed bag. On the (very!) good side: - The anju drinking snacks were fun and allowed us to nibble whilst choosing our mains - The beef stew and the kimchee fried rice were both absolutely delicious, and the rice tasted fairly Korean - The service was friendly and warm, despite the issues (see below) On the less good side: - The building isn’t appropriate for the meal prices. Some of the tables are lovely, but others are tiny counters next to a condensation streaked window. We refused our first “table” - a counter by the door on a sub zero evening (despite booking a couple of weeks in advance). I wasn’t prepared to spend £100+ on a meal whilst sitting uncomfortably. - We ordered a tempura chili dish because we both like spice. It was inedible - some of the chillis were like birds’ eyes. We understand that chili vary in heat, but this could have been avoided by the kitchen trying a small amount of each before cooking. It knocked my tastebuds for the rest of the meal. - The wine is extortionate. I do think Bokman is worth a visit, but I wouldn’t expect perfection.

The seats and tables are very limited and the restaurant is tiny. My friend and I got a table outside, the view was nice but it was raining. I suggest to reserve the table in advance. I have been reading about this place and was so excited to try their food-ordered takeaway and am not sure what the hype is about. Ordered the whole chicken stuffed with rice, the tongdak. For £19 I expected a regular sized chicken, instead the tiniest chicken that I have ever seen arrived, it was more like a poussin or Cornish game hen. This tiny chicken contained about a tablespoon and a half of rice. The rice was tasty but not really flavourful. The sauces were nice and the pickles were tasty but I struggled to get a mouthful of chicken that did not contain teeny tiny bones...😞 after wresting through a plate of tiny bones, I was excited for dessert and ordered the matcha tiramisu, the matcha was a nice addition and the marscapone was lovely but the ladyfingers underneath were bone dry as they had missed the soaking in coffee step. Having enjoyed lots of Korean BBQ in NYC was excited by authentic Korean food here in Bristol-and it looks like I’ll have to wait a little longer. A larger chicken for £19 is definitely needed!

More than enough food I think. Would have loved to try more things, so will return again. Service was excellent, and food arrived quickly. The table is time limited. The staff were great at explaining the food, which was very tasty and well presented. OK, it is Korean for a western palate, but that made the evening inclusive.

Seated in a hot cramped basement room hosting 20ish people when only comfortable for 10 at most, which as well as being uncomfortable also makes it incredibly loud. No menus at the table instead written on the wall blocked by someone eating, no cutlery laid out instead told it was in a drawer inside our table which was inaccessible as we had already sat down. Horrendously overpriced food given the portion size (£15 for around 100g of pork and 3 seaweed wraps) which is considered a large plate? I didn’t fancy the small plate items some of which were being served in literal ramekins. Mine eventually came out 20 minutes after my partners by which time she had already eaten hers. £12.50 for a glass of wine and £6 for a can of beer and not enough food to leave either of us satiated. Safe to say we won’t be returning

Awesome food! Great service! Clean fresh big flavours from an honest hard working kitchen! Front of house work the small space well. Worth the wait if you have to don't miss the Bo Ssam or soft serve

Tiny, cramped, joyous Korean restaurant hidden away from the main road. Food is always excellent - I worked as a chef for years and can usually read through a menu and know what’s what but this place always surprises me. One of my favourite restaurants in Bristol right now :)

Popped in with a mate as we used to frequent the previous bar at this address (Zito & Bevi), I'd not tried Korean food before but wanted to give it a go - the meal was absolutely 10/10 delicious. Each plate had such a variety of flavours and each was so unique and flavoursome! Can highly recommend

Was recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. Missed out on a few dishes with our late booking but still thinking about the amazing dumplings and soft serve. The wine is very well priced. The staff were super warm and friendly too! Would come to back to Bristol for this alone.

Bokman is genuine, very authentic with some really knowledgeable and sweet staff. Everyone was really nice and explained the dishes very well. I real liked the drinking options, alcoholic and non ones, all of them, super interesting, even offering natural wine 💓 The food was excellent, very high quality ingredients, fantastic execution. The flavours were absolutely on point. You feel all the love poured into it. For people complaining about prices, they need to understand how much time it takes to make these dishes, but also how much do they think it costs to buy really the best local and sustainable ingredients? People need to be more grateful, it’s not easy!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here, went with three others and spent just over £100 between us (including alcohol) and left satisfied. Great place.

Hot, fresh, ridiculously tasty food that leaves you comfortably full. ‘Edgy Bristol’ vibe as opposed to formal. Would thoroughly recommend for a casual meal.

Overpriced and not enough time. We were kicked out after 1hr 25 mins when we hadn't even finished our meal - they had to pack up our half-eaten meal and send us home with it. Honestly the food was delicious and worth the hype, but the whole thing felt extremely overpriced and then we didn't even have time to enjoy the expensive food! £14 for a very small veggie platter seemed extortionate. It's a cute small place with say-hello-to-your-neighbour canteen vibes, if it was cheaper it would make a lot more sense. I honestly wouldn't go back even though the food was tasty. Felt like we were not valued as customers & that we paid £35 per head for a cold half-eaten takeaway.

Five stars all round. Excellent interesting food, wonderful service, small but not too cramped seating. Also they had a high chair and were lovely to our 18 month old. Not loads they could eat on the menu, but tried bits alongside things we brought for them. Would go again.

Service was super friendly, food was unbelievably tasty and served with instructions from the staff (which is helpful if you’re not super well-versed in the nuances of Korean/Asian food). Went in on a whim and had a really amazing meal. Can’t ask for more than that.

Amazing small restaurant!! Fantastic and original menu! Loved every dish! The waiting staff really helpful talking you through the menu. We felt welcome and looked after. The soft scoop and potato chips a revelation 👏! I would 100 PC recommend any foodie to visit this place!!

Fantastic food and very friendly and helpful. The starter of mixed snacks was amazing, especially the deep fried seaweed. Roasted whole chicken stuffed with rice was also amazing and went very well with the cabbage salad. And who would have known delicate crisps and soft serve ice cream would have been such a brilliant combo. Hope to come back soon.

Blown away by the flavours although I havent been to many korean restaurants to compare. A small squished restaurant but that added to the experience for me, but could be a problem for people with mobility limitations

Had a table booked to come here yesterday. It's a place my girlfriend and I have spoke about coming to for over a year now, we finally got around to booking a table for 6pm. Both of us were excited to get to try the amazing food on the menu, but we left after just 5 minutes. The restaurant was way too hot and we were both sweating loads the moment we sat, even though we were right by the door which was opened. We left bitterly disappointed and annoyed about it and went to Nadu for food instead which was a lovely cool place. Get some air con fitted and we'll definitely be back!

At first glance this small Korean restaurant seemed like an amazing combination of Korean food and modern dining. The chefs would come out to announce their creations and explain what is presented to you. The menu was small which led me to think focus is given to each dish. We ordered the Banchan (Korean side dishes ) and the Tongdak (Chicken stuffed with sticky rice). £16 for Banchan was not worth it for the amount of food. All the Banchan were strong and bold in flavours but weren't very refreshing. The dried squid and small fish did have lots of umami flavour Tongdak Chicken had some fantastic sticky rice with some the crispy chicken skin was a delight. This was let down by the dry chicken breast meat. It came with pickled radish on the side which was a nice touch. Overall, the food was good not great. I felt underwhelmed by the whole experience as I have confidence they can be so much better.

Great Korean restaurant located bit out from the centre in a slightly alternative side of Bristol. They managed to fit us in on a Saturday night. Bokman salad was fantastic. Had kimchi fried rice with roast pork and egg. My partner had asparagus bibimbap. Great food and good service. Interesting not a Korean chef in site.

Tricky to find as there is no sign above the restaurant and it looks like someone’s house. It was cosy seating with a cute idea of your cutlery etc in a drawer in the table. First server couldn’t explain the wines and told me that most people just have the house wine! Had to get her manager to explain but then they did give us a taster of two and the house was perfectly good. I found the food really disappointing. The Bokman salad was the best dish - full of interesting flavours and a dish in its own right. Otherwise I found the rest of the food chewy or unpleasant in texture. It seems that this really is an overly hyped place. I like Korean food but this was not a great example of it. There are much better places for Korean food and for restaurant ambience locally.

First time I visited it was amazing, truly delicious dishes and good prices. Second time, a few months ago it was a complete disaster. First plate was the bone marrow, full of fat and 3 pieces of meat
