The place is very small so you have to make a reservation before going and it is usually full, so either go early or book a little in advance. the delicious food. We started with the bokman salad which is a little spicy, the rice (I thought I wasn't going to like the kimchi and I loved it) with pork. They serve it to you in a stone bowl to keep it warm during the meal. We finish with the beef stew. the waitress who served us was super nice

Absolutely out of this world. You can feel the passion and dedication in this kitchen: the menu hung together like a great album, with the dishes balancing each other for flavour, colour and style. Relaxed atmosphere, cool but very friendly staff. The only issue is that we ate too much! Couldn’t stop.. Booking essential.

Very expensive for a very tatty place. £250 for 4 people. Food was ok, but nothing special. Korean food is rather basic - it’s not a sophisticated cuisine, so street food is its model, which is fine , but not for me. Rooms are horrid and very basic. For a restaurant that probably takes £10,000 a week it’s a bit of a rip off.

Had a very delicious dinner at Bokman. It's a small restaurant/bistro sort of place, small menu, quick service. They have a great drinks menu to start you off, and a handful of starter/main/side options, so shouldn't take too long to decide what to have! Since it was our first visit - we went for the recommended Tongdak chicken. And it was amazingly well done, soft and juicy chicken stuffed with sticky rice, served with some condiments. The salad was another favourite of ours, just delicious veggies and seaweed, dressed in peanuts. All the food was really great, came out quickly. I can see why this place is so beloved by the locals.

I’m super shocked that the food they served was nothing regarding to Korean food. It’s totally different from their advertising. If you want to have some traditional Korean food, defensively avoid this one. The restaurant is very tiny, it’s more like a Cafe, rather than restaurant. It can’t serve the enough customers.

Good restaurant with a mix of purely Korean and fusion dishes (they do sometimes give their own interpretation to some of the dishes). Ever changing menu with fresh ingredients, great vegan kimchi and also other dishes that can be vegan/vegetarian adopted. Definetly recommend.

A superb meal, in a lovely little restaurant. Busy but cosy. The food was amazing: we had banchan, tempura chilis, kimchi fried rice, beef stew and the bokman salad - far too much for two people! With 2 beers each, that was £100. But everything was super delicious and felt like a real step up from your standard (chepaer) asian restaurant. We waddled out feeling very happy. Should have gotten the whole roasted chicken though - everyone seemed to be having it except us!

Reposting from 11 month ago: The service was good although they do try and upsell (always recommending the two most expensive dishes). They say the "smaller" plates wont be enough for a main but they will with some rice on the side. The food is good but I do think it is a little overpriced. I would recommend peppers, the chicken wings were also good. The galbi stew is nice but would recommend sharing as a table as too expensive for one person. The tiramisu is not a tiramisu.

Booked table month in advance and still was seated on high chair by the window in entrance door literally-my friend had to get up and move every time someone was walking in or out. Spoke to staff and was told we should point it out while booking we wouldn't like to seat there?!!! Second restaurant charges service fee! I was it was "miscalculated" twice by the till (I was overcharged) and the girl was not able to give me the receipt because "we did booking for 2 people but paid separately"...?!!!!

We had dinner here for the first time this week, after having read a newspaper review online. What a wonderful place! It is very small, slightly off the main road and we wouldn't have looked twice if hadn't have known about it. You need to book, we booked weeks ago and the latest we could get was 5pm. The menu is on the blackboard, the waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. The tempura stuffed chillies were great (very spicy!), and the stuffed whole chicken was wonderful. We ordered it with the sides to make lettuce wraps with different sauces, it was extremely tasty. There aren't many options for puddings, just soft serve ice cream with different toppings - but the honey butter crisp topping is just wonderful! We will definitely come back here next time we are in Bristol.

The service was OK, but the food left much to be desired. We ordered the restaurant's signature dish, tongdak (roasted chicken), but it was disappointingly dry and flavorless. While the pickled items were tasty, the portions were unreasonably small. It seems the restaurant benefits from good PR, but the food itself is overpriced and underwhelming.

The menu is a tight and crowd-pleasing selection of their favourite things. Tonight, this includes a classic soy-braised short rib dish, a non-meat alternative of tofu with king oyster mushrooms and greens, and a seabass special. We start with a plate of aromatic perilla leaves, wrapped around minced beef and pork, then deep fried in a lacy, fragile batter of hot, cheery crunch. These are god-tier snacks, little pockets of joy, to be eaten as quickly as possible from the deep fat fryer, which is easy because it’s only about 5ft away over there. Dip them in the accompanying sweetened soy and mourn them when they are gone. There is the sturdy Bokman salad made with layers of Chinese leaf, toasted pine nuts, heaps of sesame seeds and a healthy ballast of toasted seaweed, lending a seashore waft to the plate. A mini cauldron of fat-grained kimchi fried rice comes laid with a frilly-edged fried egg. You can have this with shards of roasted pork belly – and you know I was always going to.

This meal was exceptional. Not only was the food some of the best we’ve had in Bristol but the team at Bokman could not have been more accommodating about one of our party’s sunflower allergy, even changing the oil they used ahead of time. Food is unbelievably delicious. Service was very attentive. Atmosphere is really lovely and relaxed but the space we had by the door was really quite hectic for me. …this place has been hyped up for a while now and whilst the seemingly high footfall is heart warming to see you can already see standards beginning to slip as demand picks up. The service was impersonal, a touch cold and they were clearly trying to turn the tables over as quick as they can. My oysters were frozen / had big chunks of ice in, but they kindly wavered these off the bill. The chicken stuffed with rice was original and delicious, but the short rib was a touch fatty and not rendered down like you’d expect. I was surprised how unclean the place was, which again is probably down to not being able to handle the demand. Left somewhat disappointed but would give it another chance.

This gem of a spot might be on the smaller side, but it's all charm, so you'll want to book ahead to dodge the bummer of it being packed out. It's the perfect place for bringing a friend or two since the menu's all about sharing – think choosing a main and then piling on the sides, both big and small plates. I went with a buddy, and let me tell you, deciding what to order was no easy feat because everything sounded amazing. We ended up with the beef short rib and kimchi rice, which were just bursting with flavours and spices – so good! We had our eyes on the chicken and some other sides too but didn't get around to them, so guess what? We're already plotting our comeback to tackle the other half of the menu we didn't get to. First time at Bokman and trying Korean food. The reviews are generally excellent and from my perspective it was good but not outstanding. We had a number of dishes including the chicken, fried rice, and a number of Kimchi dishes. Whilst all were not to my taste, the quality was good. It’s quite a small place and they have seated areas and benches with high seating, personally, I wouldn’t go unless you can get proper seats. Service was excellent, super friendly and helpful chap who served us, we were next to the kitchen and at times it was incredibly hot so if you can get a seat away from the kitchen I would recommend. Prices were fair, we had a beer each and 5 dishes to share (big and small) and it came to £40. Overall not bad, just not quite as good as u had hoped for.

A mixed review. I went for dinner here with a friend and we were told twice from arriving to sitting down that we only had the table for 1hr 30. We were then reminded 20 mins before our time was up and offered dessert whilst still in the midst of mains. Unfortunately this tarnished what would have been a perfect evening. The food is delicious and we’d recommend the stuffed chicken and the boba ice cream for dessert. Sitting downstairs was very cramped and I only had a small stool. More comfortable seating and a tiny bit more space would also improve the dining experience. I remain unsure if I’d recommend to a friend.

After hearing all the hype about Bokman we expected it to be a quirky, unique and fun restaurant. So, we decided to book a table for a birthday treat. I’d like to list some of our experiences; Overcrowded We knew it was a small restaurant but it was full from corner to corner with tables. We felt squished and uncomfortable with the seating. The menu isn’t visible People are either sat in front of the menu on the wall or it is simply too dark to read. The place was dirty and unkept The floors were greasy. The bathroom felt dirty and the pipes were dripping with condensation. A constant smell of burnt fat. Don’t get me started on the fruit flies The lighting is too dark - you can’t even see your food. The food was nice but it was spoiled by the timings of service. We weren’t told that food comes when it is ready. We felt unprepared and hungry while waiting for our meals. The starters came at the same time as the mains which defeats the purpose of even having a starter. Call it a side dish! The food coming when it is ready is not a problem but they should be served in the same sitting, not once everyone else has finished their food. This needs to be explained or be better thought out. The Bokman salad was our favourite dish. The matcha tiramisu was delicious. No cutlery, chopsticks or napkins We arrived to a bare table which remained bare even when are food arrived. We are more than fine getting our own cutlery when we know where it is but this wasn’t mentioned. We had to constantly ask for cutlery with no awareness from the waitress. They don’t have knives which made it hard to eat the whole chicken or the fish. After the meal we were left with unpleasant sticky hands with nothing to clean them with. There’s a difference between informal and unwelcome. The service made us few unwelcome and unwanted. The waitress looked bored and forgot at least 1 item each time we ordered. The only time she seemed happy was once the bill came and the service charge added. All of these problems wouldn’t be so bad if the restaurant hadn’t been so expensive. The restaurant is overpriced. The drinks are far too expensive! The dishes were too expensive for what we received and we weren’t left satisfied. We couldn’t see the bill properly and the service charge felt like a sneaky percentage but what would we know we couldn’t even read the bill in the dark. There is a fine line between cool casual dinning and poor service delivered with overpriced food and the feeling of needing a wipe down.

This visit to Bokman was a mixed bag. On the (very!) good side: - The anju drinking snacks were fun and allowed us to nibble whilst choosing our mains - The beef stew and the kimchee fried rice were both absolutely delicious, and the rice tasted fairly Korean - The service was friendly and warm, despite the issues (see below) On the less good side: - The building isn’t appropriate for the meal prices. Some of the tables are lovely, but others are tiny counters next to a condensation streaked window. We refused our first “table” - a counter by the door on a sub zero evening (despite booking a couple of weeks in advance). I wasn’t prepared to spend £100+ on a meal whilst sitting uncomfortably. - We ordered a tempura chili dish because we both like spice. It was inedible - some of the chillis were like birds’ eyes. We understand that chili vary in heat, but this could have been avoided by the kitchen trying a small amount of each before cooking. It knocked my tastebuds for the rest of the meal. - The wine is extortionate. I do think Bokman is worth a visit, but I wouldn’t expect perfection.

By far the best Korean food I have had in the UK so far! Very nice little cosy restaurant with an authentic menu and great service. I definitely recommend

Love it in bokman, we have been multiple times since it first opened, food quality always excellent and always something new and interesting on the menu, however the galbi stew is a firm favourite. The prices have gone up a little but it is still reasonable for the great food and atmosphere and in line with similar in bristol. Dont miss out on the matcha tiramisu !!

Food was ok nothing special. Overpriced, the quantity of the food doesn’t even enough for 1 person. The waitress told us the food was the sharing size so we were aware it was gonna be big but .. yeah even one person couldn’t feel full. The service was great, staffs are friendly. The seats and tables are very limited and the restaurant is tiny. My friend and I got a table outside, the view was nice but it was raining. I suggest to reserve the table in advance. I don’t think I’d visit again due to the small portion, overpriced and the food wasn’t that special.

The service was good although they do try and upsell (always recommending the two most expensive dishes).

One of my best foodie experiences in Bristol, if not the best one. Serves dishes that are well thought throughout and you won't be able to get them elsewhere in the city. We enjoyed it so much!

The evening me and my partner spent at Bokman was perfect. We decided to get several small plates from across the menu and share it all. Lovely friendly service, balanced menu that clearly showcases the skill of their kitchen team with a lot of care that goes into the process of creating their menu. All of our food was beautiful, decent portion sizes and full of flavour. Mind was blown by a soft serve dessert! Great energy in the restaurant with the open kitchen, and casual dining experience when sat outside under their awning. Such a gem of a spot in the Bristol food scene!

We were sat downstairs. It’s cosy not claustrophobic. Helpful waitress explained the food. Had read about the stuffed chicken so had that and a beef dish that melted in the mouth. The chicken was amazing. The pickles fantastic. Charming place. You can get delicious wine if you ask.

We ordered the Galbi beef short rib, cold buckwheat noodles, kimchi fried rice topped with an egg, Banchan and matcha tiramisu. This is the best meal I’ve had in Bristol in a while…I felt like everything was made with love. The side dishes were not the main star but I feel I could definitely devour them with a bowl of rice. The Galbi beef short rib was absolutely delicious, definitely my favourite with how soft the beef was. Staff were very nice and had some good recommendations, Im glad we followed them. Will definitely come back.

I have been reading about this place and was so excited to try their food-ordered takeaway and am not sure what the hype is about. Ordered the whole chicken stuffed with rice, the tongdak. For £19 I expected a regular sized chicken, instead the tiniest chicken that I have ever seen arrived, it was more like a poussin or Cornish game hen. This tiny chicken contained about a tablespoon and a half of rice. The rice was tasty but not really flavourful. The sauces were nice and the pickles were tasty but I struggled to get a mouthful of chicken that did not contain teeny tiny bones...😞 after wresting through a plate of tiny bones, I was excited for dessert and ordered the matcha tiramisu, the matcha was a nice addition and the marscapone was lovely but the ladyfingers underneath were bone dry as they had missed the soaking in coffee step. Having enjoyed lots of Korean BBQ in NYC was excited by authentic Korean food here in Bristol-and it looks like I’ll have to wait a little longer. A larger chicken for £19 is definitely needed!

It is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the UK! Very generous portions and high quality food. You may find the place quite tight as there are too many tables for the size of the restaurant but overall it is a great place. Definitely recommend it.

Everything about this place is a YES. Incredible service from the moment we sat down and incredible food. A big thank you especially to Annie, a wonderful server who just made it feel like we were there for a chat. The head chef was also lovely when I thanked him for the meal.
