Cash only ! Very nice place and scrumptious, genuine food at a reasonable price

My favourite pho place in Bristol. Yes it is cash only, and you need to reserve through calling or WhatsApp, but the food is consistently great and good value. It's not really a restaurant for dwelling, it's fairly cramped inside and doesn't have the vibe for luxuriously chilled lounging around with friends. We were sat down, ordered and ate within an hour but it works great to then get dessert or another drink elsewhere. We had a ginger beer and a Hanoi beer for drinks. For food we had satay tofu bao, classic beef pho and the pork rice bowl. It was all super flavorful, with flavours you can only get from proper marination and stewing. The pho broth was clear and delicious and the pho was topped with a generous portion of meat that was beautifully brisketed. My partner ordered the pork rice bowl which I tried some of and it was very tasty with a great serving sauce similar (if not the same) to the ones that come with the bun dishes. Portions are pretty large, just the single pho fills me up to very full.

The kitchen was very accommodating to us as we arrived kind of late but they still were able to have a seated and the food was very quick. Very tasty staff were very friendly very accommodating. Unfortunately there is no option to pay by card. It is cash only but the ATM was only two minutes walk up the road.

We ordered two bowls of rice noodles plus a spring roll, but the restaurant made us wait over an hour for our food to be served - it's hard to imagine any restaurant making customers wait that long. The waiter spilled a lot of soup on my pants while cleaning up the bowls, but offered no compensation, treating the incident as if it didn't happen!

Not sure of the reasonings behind a cash only restaurant where a average bill can be over £30 for 1 person. The food was nice and the staff friendly. The classic beef pho had nice flavours and was filling.

The yellow-haired male waiter has a very bad attitude. He only urges you to hurry up without a smile. He spits when talking and is unhygienic. There is no service at all. This store only accepts cash and does not give receipts, so it is not formal. The taste of the dishes is also very average. The soup is not authentic and not fresh and sweet enough. The beef is too thick and too braised. The waiter with yellow hair had a terrible attitude. He only hurried us and didn't smile. He was also unhygienic, spitting while talking. There was no service at all. This restaurant only accepts cash and doesn't provide receipts, which is unprofessional. The food was mediocre, the soup wasn't authentic and lacked freshness and sweetness. The beef was too thick, overcooked, and overly tender.

Stopped off for a quick lunch. Had the satay bao buns and pho. Everything was delicious, and their homemade chicken broth hits the spot. It's cash only, so easiest if you bring this in advance, though there are ATMs close by. Would definitely go back here. Casual place but very tasty food.

Food was so so yummy! Would recommend the lemongrass chicken curry and the noodle salad, both were delicious and super refreshing. King prawn summer rolls were really yummy and the staff were super friendly and service was quick. Nice chilled atmosphere inside.

It's always full every time I come here. This time I waited 10 minutes before the opening time for the door to open. I ordered beef pho and summer roll. It's a relatively authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Bristol. It's delicious and the staff's service is very good, but the restaurant is quite hot.

The best Pho in Bristol by a long mile. I’ve become a regular orderer of The Viet Kitchen on Uber Eats and had to come and leave a review here. I’m consistently so so impressed by the seasoning of the ingredients, the quality of the meat and the generosity of the portion sizes. Viet Kitchen gives the incredibly rare feeling, that you order food and feel like the restaurant are trying to give you the biggest bowl of delicious food they possibly can for your money. Portion sizes and food quality seem to be going down everywhere at the moment, and it can be so disappointing. So, if you want to eat somewhere and feel like the chef has just personally tried to give you a big treat after your long week, eat here.

We ordered a vegan tofu pho, bahn mi, and noodle dish. Sadly, I found the combo of hot tofu with ice cold noodles and lettuce a bit strange. The portion was huge though! The pho was a little over-seasoned with coriander which can spoil the other delicate flavours of the dish. This was also a big portion however, and was probably a better choice than the noodle dish. The bahn mi was perfect and we got this to go. We sat outside as it was a warm day. We don't mind being asked if our meal was ok but after the third time it was starting to get a bit invasive. This place is fantastic. Very lovely and attentive staff and the food is so nice. We are from out of town and staying nearby - trued to book a table by phone and although no answer a very quick text back to ask us if they could help. Sorted a table for an hour later - I really felt this went above and beyond. When we got here the service was fantastic. Followed by lovely food and I thought the price was very reasonable. If in the area a good place to eat! Thanks

Great food, wonderful service, friendly and helpful staff.

The people serving were really polite and softly spoken. The food was amazing. I had the veg pho which is vegan. The noodles had flavour, the broth was really good. It had beansprouts, chillipepper, onion, mushrooms, corn on the cob, noodles and broth. The portion is quite big and extremely filling.

I have had me a few Pho's in my lifetime, and I aint ever had one this good! I usually be adding bits and bobs to it to get it "just right", but this one came perfectly salted and packed with a hell of a lot of flavour! The atmosphere was awesome, very small cozy and genuinely delightful. As soon as I even thought about asking for another drink the waiter would appear to ask if we needed anything. I think the pricing was also really good, £43 for x2 people and I was full, had drinks, shared starter (bao), and main. 10/10 experience, 100% would go again.

I was recently visiting Bristol and I’d heard about how good the food was in Bristol and Viet Kitchen set the bar very high. I’ve had Vietnamese food a couple of times before mainly Pho and so was buzzing to come here and it did not disappoint. We ordered some starters e.g Gyoza, Prawn Summer Rolls and Bao Buns and then for mains we had a combination of curries and pho’s. The portions of the mains especially were HUGE and we all struggled to finish them. The food was full volume flavour, I couldn’t resist trying some of everyone else’s. For 6 of us, starters, mains and drinks it came to about £150 which is just excellent value. In London I’d pay double the price for that quality and size food. I’d 100% recommend going here and when I’m next back in Bristol will definitely visit.

Understated but the food speaks for itself. Yummy pho, bao and curry. Perfect for a delicious relaxed lunch. Friendly and efficient service we will come again.

The food here was truly inspirational. Grab a meal before it gets a well deserved muchelin star. I don't have sufficient praise to heap on this incredible restaurant and it's wonderful authentic food. Hugely recommended.

Came with a group of friends for a birthday. Attentive staff and great food! I really enjoyed my main dish with rice noodles - felt like I was back in Hanoi, and the bao was delicious. Would definitely recommend for an authentic experience!

Great little buzzy place with good Vietnamese inspired food. The place is really small so advanced booking is recommended. There are a number of steps to climb to get into the restaurant, which is also quite compact, so not suitable for wheelchair users. The beef brisket dishes are very popular and they seem to run out very quickly so booking a table as close as possible to opening time is highly desirable to ensure all items on the menu are available. There are plenty of microbreweries nearby so takeaways to eat at the tap room are also a good option if no tables are available.

I have to say the food was very good, ordered 2 different pho but came 2 same pots. The service was slow, over 40 minutes of waiting, and I have been placed right in front of the toilet, not really nice eating with the people bumping my chair on their way to the loo that was less then 2 meters behind me, not even good for the smell. I was much looking forward to eat in there but won’t come back

Had a delicious meal here last night. Got the tofu curry with a tofu and guacamole summer role. The food was so tasty and there were a good selection of drinks. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was lively. Would recommend booking as this place is always busy, a good sign!

My favourite Vietnamese place thus far. Love their Bao’s, their curries, their Pho’s. Vietnamese cold coffee is to die for. Tables get booked up really quickly, so be sure to book one when you get a chance. Only downside is the space being a bit too tight and it is cash only, but it still doesn’t stop us from going every once in a while.

You can place an order for take away by texting to them on their phone number. Super quick service, proper packaging (I went with a bike, no leaks in my backpack) and very tasty, delicious food! Keep in mind you can pay by cash only.

We went to the Cotham Viet Kitchen and had some great food. It was a bit disjointed with the service, and our main courses arrived before our starters, but the flavours were superb. So hopefully it's just a few teething pains in the early days as I will definitely return.

As authentic a vegan pho can go, it actually quite delicious! I recommend definitely to go here if u want to try authentic vietnamese pho in Bristol.

When we visit Bristol this is one of our Go To places. Delicious summer rolls, curries and noodle dishes, portions are great and bill is always a pleasant surprise. Small beers are a bit pricey but a family of four had starters mains and drinks for under £80. Always busy so book ahead. Staff are lovely!

I feel very upset about the food this time.Last time I came, the food was great. This time I bring my friend together, and the Bao tastes hard as if it was made yesterday, and it has been left there ever since. It should be soft if it is fresh. The noodle tastes not chewy.

Really delicious food and the friendliest staff! Portion sizes are generous and great value for money - really recommend the noodle bowl which is £10.50 and comes with two spring rolls! Definitely book ahead as it’s quite small. I’ll be back as the menu has a lot of variety and there’s something for everyone (we came as a large group).

The pho is delicious. Not the best Summer roll I had, but not bad. Place is quite small, so make sure to call beforehand and make a reservation before going. Worth a try.

Gorgeous food. Have been a number of times and everything always delicious, always busy and they are always accommodating. The thai coffee with condensed milk is so good, but only if you have a bit of a sweet tooth! It is cash only so make sure you hit an ATM before you go. 👍🏼 price also v v reasonable. Aside from the lovely cosy ambience perfect for a date night, the pho is absolutely to die for. Lovely subtle flavours in the broth with an underlying richness from the meats. Make sure to book in advance as this place is popular!

This is a fantastic example of Vietnamese with a twist in Bristol. The staff are amazing and the food is delicious, consistent and always fresh. I have been taking my son here weekly for a couple of years now and would highly recommend. Our favourite is the pho!

Great portion size and delicious food

Amazing authentic Vietnamese food!! We had the chicken spicy pho, beef spicy pho, lemongrass chicken curry, pork belly, spring rolls and baos, each dish was packed with flavour and well balanced. The best Vietnamese food I’ve had in the UK. Definitely recommend, transported us right back to Vietnam! The portions are big and great value for money, staff are really friendly and happy to help. Make sure you book as it’s really small and it was constantly busy while we were there.

The pork Banh Mi was excellent! The chicken was good as well but the pork blew it away. Not a big fan of the chicken Pho but I think I would still like to try another one here before I pass judgment. UPDATE: Changing from 4 stars to 5. We had a meal dine in and everything was absolutely excellent!! Great food, great service. I can't wait to go back!!

Delicious fresh food, a simple menu done incredibly well and so very affordable. If I lived closer I'd be in here all the time. Staff friendly and attentive, and although the restaurant is intimate it doesn't feel cramped at all. Cannot rate highly enough.

Incredible food and service, very good prices

Super small restaurant, maybe 10 tables, so I would recommend to book in advance. The food here is AMAZING, I have been a few times and every time it is spot on. The prices are extremely reasonable, my partner and I can eat and drink for about £40 total and we are stuffed! I would recommend getting a variety of smaller dishes to experience the different tastes.

They really need to sort out both the process they use for customers to order food (by text but responding 30 mins later to say it will be ready in another 30 minutes time) and the way they treat customers. I was very loyal to them during covid, but I feel like going elsewhere now.

We went as a family of four this evening and none of us could fault our food. The lemongrass chicken curry deserves a special mention as does the tofu noodle bowl. Lovely friendly service too. Thank you- we’ll be back!

Best Vietnamese restaurant in Bristol the vegetable pho is absolutely incredible. Perfect balance of sweet and umami. I usually have the vegan options, which consists vegetable spring roles, tofu bao and tofu and mushroom pho. The rolls are freshly cook and fried to have the perfect crisp. The bao is is not too soft and a subtly sweetness and marshmellowy texture complements the slightly more firm fried tofu inside. The mushrooms that come with the pho are seared to perfection, to get rid of the slimeyness you usually get with undercooked mushrooms, without loosing the mushrooms natural flavour and texture altogether. If you have a chance this place is definitely worth a visit.

Very good phó, I like the Bristol twist they're putting on their food, amazing graffiti decor and colourful food. I'm actually Vietnamese and my mum would be impressed, not exactly sure what these reviewers that "visited" Vietnam are expecting

The restaurant was full and the food smelt wonderful. However the food itself (Pho and cold rolls) lacked the wonderful flavours of Vietnamese food. Very disappointed - definitely not street food you would get in Hanoi.

As we entered it smelt good and authentic. The food was okay but blander and not as full of the real subtle flavour as we had hoped for. Having spent time in Vietnam this is not quite authentic but rather a dumbed down English version. Pity they don't offer a more authentic version.

PHO looks good, but the taste is fair, soup base is not rich. Vietnamese ice coffee is OK. The tidiness and cleanliness of the place need some attention.

This place is by far the best in Bristol, everytime I order for takeaway or eat in it never fails.. me and my daughter are obsessed with this place.

This place was so good! The summer rolls and Pho were absolutely amazing. Such a good price also!

Thus was my first visit and I hope not my last. All the ingredients seemed to be very fresh. The cooking was good as well. The taste buds enjoyed the flavours to the full. Well worth a visit if you are in Bristol.

A lovely little eatery hidden away on a back street of Bristol. There was a good selection to choose from on the menu. The pho was very good, I went for the pho, with beef served 3 different ways.

Best meal we've ever had in Bristol

Viet kitchen is situated just off stokes croft and the bear pit . A note to remember it is a cash only restaurant ! The smell in this place is incredible and its very authentic in design ! Its a cosy restaurant and your greeted by friendly waitresses , the menu has a great selection of phos / baos / viet currys / banh mis etc so plenty of the traditional choices i went for a bao starter and a beef brisket Viet curry! Both were flavourful well portioned and so so tasty ! Only reason i marked it down as one of our table did no enjoy his main and neither did i when tasty the pork was not crispy as described on his dish which was a let down on the flavour! However it wont stop me coming back for more !

Small place which is very popular and you can see why. The food is absolutely delicious, I had duck bao and braised pork belly and for the quality it's great value. Book if you can, but make sure you go as it's very special.

A simple cozy restaurant in a vibrant area of Bristol. They open at 6 pm in the evening and all the tables were full by 7 pm with a young, hip crowd. There was a kindly lady who served us and she does and incredible...
