A lovely pub offering a great selection of drinks alongside a quintessential pub menu. The food is consistently high standard for both the regular menu and their Sunday roasts. The venison Sunday roast is a standout.

We went here for a drink at the end of a long walk. The pub is out of the way, but people clearly make a special trip to visit. The menu looked amazing, though didn't offer any sandwiches or similar for a light lunch. The service was very friendly and we look forward to returning for dinner one day.

A friend from the US friend and a few others went to The Durant, once again last night and had the most incredible dinner. Smoked Salmon and Horseradish pate with Home-made soda bread bread - has got to be the best starter I've had in years. Their pies are without equal in the modern world! You just cannot find them made like this in the old-fashioned way with suet and wonderfully crusted texture. Old world atmosphere inside with roaring fires and plenty of dogs to keep you happy. Warm and personable staff and cheeky glimpses of the busy kitchen.

What a real traditional Gem of a place. Three friends and I pitched up for some drinks after a lengthy walk mid Saturday afternoon. We were greeted by friendly staff and locals alike. The Pub was immaculately clean and tidy with a real big selection of Ales, Beers and other spirits, with at least five real ales on tap, most of which we tried during the following couple of hours! Although we did not eat the restaurant looked lovely and menu looked very inviting, but having spoken to the Bar Staff, booking is essential! Ideally located for walking into Totnes, which is what we were staying nearby. This also has rooms which may be a venue for us in the future! Well worth a visit.

First id like to say, the service was terrible! We ordered starters and a main corse. We waited an hour for the starters to come out and when they did it wasn’t nice, I ordered the Thorizo toast starter. The toast was burnt and only 5 small bits of thorizo on the plate. Then we waited another hour for our main corse and that wasn’t nice either. The chips were under cooked and the bun to my burger seemed almost stale, no one offered us drinks we had to go up to the bar to take drink orders, no one asked how our food was and no apology for the long wait. It almost seemed like the staff didn’t care one bit! We still left a tip tho

Our table booked for 7 15 arrived at 7 for drinks ordered food at 7 15, took 45 minutes for the starters to arrive, and two of those were only olives, and 8 45 our mains arrived, this after being informed several veggie items had sold out, so the only option for three of us was the cauliflower dish, I had a steak and my son had a dried out burger. Well we all thought too late for coffee and any dessert, after finishing, at no time during our stay did any waiting staff check us , talk to us, ask us if all okay, poor being the understatement here, i had to apologise to our friends and family who are visiting for the weekend for a terrible experience , I would invite anybody for the Durant Arms to speak to me personally, I've heard the food is good v not so good service, but this takes the biscuit and we shall not visit again, this being my second visit . You can see this stems from poor management and I am not blaming anybody in the kitchen as food was being dished out all night. Anyway, there ya go Durant!

Absolutely excellent. Faultless. From the welcome as we arrived (early, it was raining!), their knowledge of the wines and ciders, the fabulous food, and the friendly staff, all was perfect. My real pie was stuffed with big, tasty chunks of chicken. My friend’s plaice was huge and had an interesting variety of fresh greens. The puddings are amazing. No portion stinting here! It’s not cheap. But it’s great value for money and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Booking is probably essential on a Friday Saturday. It was full the Friday we went. Clean loos. If you’re prepared to drive a few miles along narrow lanes surrounded by beautiful countryside then you have to try this place. Set in a pretty village this restaurant has a good choice of starters and mains. We skipped the starters because we didn’t want to be full before the main course arrived. I then had gammon, chips, fried eggs and peas and I can honestly say it was one of the best I’ve had. Generous portion, well cooked. My wife went for fish and chips. Again delightful. Although we went for traditional pub grub don’t be put off. There was a good choice of meals you could expect to be served in fine restaurants. We shared sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Recommended.

Good selection of drinks with a number of local beers & ciders. I had scallops for starter followed by steak. Although the scallops were slightly overdone they had a good flavour. The steak was great with triple cooked fat chips. One of the party had the curry which was on the hot side. Enjoyed the evening and glad we visited.
