Lovely well appointed comfortable rooms. We booked an evening meal on arrival. It was delicious and very reasonably priced with a good choice on the menu. Breakfast was included in the stay and was just as good. Great service from very attentive staff free parking in the square 50 meters away, what's not to like? As a seasoned traveller who has stayed in lots of hotels, both at home and abroad the Anchor offers outstanding value for money.

This is a lovely place to stay the night but was spoiled for me. The room itself had no storage. But had a wardrobe painted on the wall as if to say here's what you could of had. The bathroom and shower was great and very clean. In the main room the blanket was wafer thin and the TV remote didn't work. It wouldn't allow me to change the volume or the channel. So I was reliant on what little WiFi I could get. The other issue there was a loud dog barking well into the night. The staff where very polite. I ordered the nachos for a starter and a chicken burger which I paid the extra for chilly on top. The chilly on the top of my burger was cold and hadn't been heated along with my burger. The nachos had a big peice of plastic buried in the cheese which looked like it was from a broken tupaware box. When I told them about it it the service guy took the plastic away but I had to ask for them to change the food. Again this is a lovely hotel but my stay was really spoiled by a combination of things.

Very misleading as we booked a nice room in the pub and we got a cabin in the car park. Tiny room, same price as in the pub. With a broken bed and side lamp bulb gone. They clearly pay no attention to the maintenance of the rooms. Complained and we were moved into the pub. Lovely room in the pub (apart from the cable ties holding the shower together), but the music in the bar was ridiculously loud until 9pm. I complained, as did a neighbour across the road, it was that loud. Such a shame as this pub is nice and breakfast was great. But it seems like the current owners are not getting the most out of it. The one shining light was the girl working while we were there. She was very professional throughout. We won’t be returning and we wouldn’t recommend.

Our room was warm and comfortable. Up some stairs to the bath room so might be something to consider. It was reasonably clean though found som cobwebs in the corner. Finish was rustic in which I mean badly, I'll fitting home made cover for electrics badly painted. Don't know what electrics as dare not touch. But that sort of sets the standard. There was no polish or style to the room. It was like it was 'tartted' up with that'll do mentality. Although the pebble floor in the bathroom with under floor heating was nice. Food was ok although we'd eaten there before and decided to eat out this time. Breakfast was good but the restaurant area in which one eats was cold and felt a bit bleak. Staff were lovely helpful and pleasant. Overall it is a standard place to stay, nothing makes it 'stand out'.

First of all - we're probably not the only ones to be misled after searching for hotels in Ivybridge: the Anchor is in Ugborough, not Ivybridge! But it's a friendly and comfortable pub with nice rooms above. Clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were good.

Good stop off if visiting Dartmoor. Nicely decorated and room was spacious. Can bring dogs. Sleep quality ok, we were in a room by the gravel car park so with window open (as it was hot) you can get disturbed by car noise plus privacy not great. Menu was ok but not a massive choice. If you have a dog with you, you need to eat in bar area (although breakfast you can take dog in to dining room 🤷♀️) Seating was a little uncomfortable here, as it’s window benches which aren’t ideal when eating a meal. Breakfast very good and served by really friendly guy. If bringing a dog there is a good walk 5 minutes away, but no grass area near pub or outside room for dog to be let out in the night if needed! Only thing to point out is CHECK YOUR BILL before leaving!! Annoyingly we trusted that we had been charged for what we had ordered - we could see the bar lady tap in to the computer when we ordered drinks, but the bill showed a different drinks order. We had 1 wine and 2 beers but it was only after we had left and looked at bill and we had been charged for 3 beers and 2 wines!!😡

We got married in early June 2023 and held our wedding reception at the Anchor. We know the pub very well and live locally. However, that does not influence this review as Tom the landlord and his team were amazing leading up to the wedding with the planning of the reception, budgeting and allowing us free reign to dress the restaurant as we wanted. We booked out all 10 rooms at the Anchor and all family and friends that stayed were very happy and looked after with a great breakfast each morning. We had the most amazing wedding day and the reception went onto late in the night. The staff worked tirelessly and always had a smile when serving. The rooms were super clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend this pub in an amazing village.

We were placed in the converted stable, basic accommodation, room small, no wardrobe, a strong odor of humidity in the mattress and room in general which also was absorbed by my clothes. One day the bed had just the top cover done, with the underneath sheet still untidy. Shower gel not replaced once finished. Towels very worn. Breakfast ok. All in all a poor value for money accommodation.

Park in the square rather than pub as more room. Service from start to finish was great and warm and friendly. Menu online wasn't same as in pub but they said it will be updated asap, good range of drinks. I had the steak and chorizo burger, the fries were amazing and the burger sauce was great and lots of mustard in it. Burger was also very tasty but I shouldve asked for cheese aswell as just needed a bit more flavour. Cheese board for afters was delicious with smoked apple wood, extra mature cheddar and stilton and crackers. Haven't been in about 8 yrs and was still a great evening as previous.

The Anchor is in a quiet street in a quiet little village. The rooms and the rest of the premises were clean and well decorated. The bar was good, the menu was reasonably varied (dietary requirements catered for) and the food was well prepared and presented. The staff were courteous and helpful -- in fact they were excellent. Location is convenient for a number of nearby event/wedding venues including our destination, Shilstone House, which is less than two miles away (down some fairly narrow lanes, so drive *carefully*). Ivybridge is less than ten minutes away by car. There's some car parking at the side of the building. Overspill and public parking is a few yards away in the main square, free of charge. I would unhesitatingly use The Anchor again in the future.
