Had my eye on coming here for about 2 years after following them on Facebook and seeing what they do we were not disappointed, lovely traditional pub with great locals, just as a pub should be. Ordered the steaks as this is what they're famous for and I could confidently say the best steaks we had although they were 14oz we were told that they were actually 18oz ! Very reasonably priced and came with all the trimmings where some of the chains would offer as extras. We'll be back in a fortnight, thanks to Steve and his staff but most importantly the friendliest and most beautiful dog.

Just the best steaks we have ever had served in a pub. Steve the landlord is great and gets tetchy with folks who ask for their steaks well done because they are ruining them in his opinion.

Five of us went for food and was welcomed by the lady behind the bar. When we sat down Steve the owner came over and had a chat. The food we had was lovely and we really enjoyed our visit. After reading reviews about Steve and his attitude I think people misunderstand him. We talked about football as he was wearing a Bristol City Shirt and we were Cardiff City Supporters and also other things and he is straight talking and honest. He and his staff welcomed us and served really delicious food and we can't wait to visit again.

Started well, went down hill not because of food but treatment by very aggressive, intimidating landlord ! We had booked, on entering pub went to bar to buy drinksWe were greeted by a very nice lady behind bar,she asked if we would mind eating in the adjacent room as they were busy. She said she would come and get our order for food and drinks. We walked through corridor full of junk and toilet rolls into other room. This room used to be a nice dining room but now houses tv inside fireplace, numerous notices on walls and a lift that looks like a shower in corner.I imagine this room was not normally used.We did not mind sitting in there, looking forward to food.Lady came and took our orders and brought drinks .We were quite happy and were bemused when landlord entered and seemed quite unhappy that he had to serve us. He demanded to know if we were really hungry and wanted starters ,saying aggressively, most people don't as they would not eat mains. We assured him that yes we did want them.He then said nastily that if that was the case it would take an hour and half for food.We said politely that we did not mind waiting. He then said condiments were in the bar. At this point we were sort of amused by him being so rude ,likening him to Basil Faulty. Absolutely bizarre ! Starters actually came in 30mins ,everything fine.He delivered food, ribeye steaks 20 mins later. All cooked to perfection ,one of our party asked where in the bar the condiments were He replied aggressively again,"they are in the bar where I told you 20 minutes ago !! .OBVIOUSLY it does not register with SOME people !!! " The lady came and asked us if everything was OK and asked if we wanted drinks. We said yes and even complimented her on how nice steaks were. We asked him shall we pay in bar and he said aggressively again "Yes and most NORMAL people order drinks at the bar "He then left the pub. This to me was the last straw ! Up till then we just laughed it off .We are NORMAL people who actually live just down the road ! We were asked to NOT order at the bar but what is his problem besides being a rude, nasty bully.None of this was an attempt at humour. I have NEVER encountered behavior like it,let alone by someone who is suppose to be serving you and taking nearly £90 of your money. I have been told since by locals that he is like this ! I feel sorry for the lovely lady working there. Needless to say we will not be back

Lovely pub, we visited off the cuff on the way past and it was well worth it! If i lived closer id be in here all the time! We had some ribeye steaks and ill be honest, theyve ruined every other place ive eaten steak at for me now. Properly fresh food, cooked perfectly along with great staff, all happy and very helpful. The football was on and a few locals were watching in the main bar area, felt like id gone back a fair few years to how pubs used to be. Only issue i could see people having are parking (just a few spaces at the front it looked like?) And the gents really does need redecorating, fair bit of the old black mould around the window, but the bar and restaurant areas are spotless, so dont let that put you off.

After having a poor experience here previously I decided to give this pub a second chance hoping they would improve their processes but still very disappointed in the rude alcoholic landlord who decides to get drunk and belittle and bully his customers by intimidating them, for example threatening us because we were paying on card instead of using cash when not mentioned before ordering, in general after two very disappointing visits I would highly recommend avoiding this place and travelling to a different pub.

We thought we were in a rip off version of "Karen's Diner"!! The Landlord; (we assume he was the landlord, as anyone else would be sacked for their attitude) was just awful. He was rude, unaccommodating & obnoxious. Firstly when I asked where the beer garden was, a remark was made about me getting cancer when advised where this was. Secondly we were quizzed on why my wife needed cutlery (we were sharing the starter, but were surprised we needed to justify our request, also told him this at the time of ordering),this was then was met with a rude response and then our condiments slung across the table at us. When the food was brought out I when was in the toilet, but again the Landlord started going on about me going for a "cancer stick" again, my wife told him he was rude, to which he replied he wasn't. (This was no way banter, my wife had told him he was being rude and just tried to condone it). The steak was OK, the chips were undercooked and hard. All in all a very bad experience. If we had have been within walking distance to where we were staying we would have simply left after the 1st comment (who wants to be judged on a night out). Save your money and go somewhere that welcomes you, rather than leaves you feeling uncomfortable & judged!!

Had lunch this week....venue is a traditional Somerset country pub...no frills just an honest aged place to eat / drink etc. We recently paid over £100 for a steakhouse lunch in Bristol but wanted to lower our expense on this occasion so we thought the Wellington would be a good choice. Obviously a pub steak can't compete with a steakhouse steak and the prices there reflect that. Good seating & a very friendly landlord ensured a good welcome. The food was priced very reasonable considering ever hiking prices of all foodstuffs, yeah home cooked chips which is very very rare these days were the bomb. Side veg very tasty & plentiful. The money ball is always the steaks & these were very good & cooked perfectly to our liking. Yeah we be back & the Wellington is highly recommended if you just wanna notch it down abit

We stopped in The Wellington Arms whilst staying locally at The New Inn hotel. As this venue was based in the services area of the M5 the choice of decent food was non-existent, so I used TripAdvisor to search for somewhere nice to eat and the pub had such good reviews, there was no other choice. The atmosphere was so friendly, the staff were warm, welcoming, and great entertainment. I had a T-bone steak, and the wife had a sirloin, both great cuts of meat, both cooked to perfection. You can tell a great amount of pride is taken in the food and drink, and the pub is run by people that know exactly how to run a 'proper pub'. The steaks were a great price, with fresh cut chips, fantastic, battered onions rings, mushrooms and I had a lovely peppercorn sauce. I cannot recommend this pub and Steve highly enough, if you are in the area, do yourself a favour, avoid all those chain restaurants and get yourself in here! Note: -Booking is recommended as it gets very busy, and the eating area is not that big

Stopped here yesterday en-route to Cheddar Gorge. We initially only stopped for a quick drink but upon seeing they served food we decided to order lunch - this turned out to be a good decision as the food was delicious & good value too. I had traditional fish, chips & mushy peas & my friend had sirloin steak with all the trimmings & stilton sauce. Very friendly landlord & very reasonable prices. Great selection of real ales on offer too. I had a pint of Gem ale & my friend had a pint of Blackthorn cider - both were perfect so the landlord also keeps his beers & ciders well. We will definitely be back again soon as proper local pubs with good home-cooked food sold at un-extortionate prices seem to be getting rarer by the day. Keep up the good work. Highly recommended!

Yummy well cooked traditional pub food, generous portions and very reasonable prices. Steve welcomed us and held the kitchen open, even though he was about to stop serving food. Cook and Steve all brought us food and drinks with friendly welcome and checked we had all we needed (sauces etc). The locals and other visitors all chatting together and sharing tales. After the awkward silence we first walked into (gulp) they welcomed us happily to join in the friendly conversation. Don’t judge a book as they say. Good food, great prices. I had a delicious vegan curry, rest of family raved about their steaks. We had a very long wait for the food but it was worth waiting for and we could see the landlord was rushed off his feet. He still took the time to talk us Somerset first timers through the local cider options!

I don’t understand how this place has got so many good reviews. We wanted somewhere with a beer garden as we wanted to be outside in these Covid times but it is a huge stretch to call it that. It was so tiny, there is scaffolding up all over the building & weeds everywhere. The tables were filthy & didn’t look like they had been wiped for months so we felt we were better off sitting indoors. The food was ok but certainly nothing special. We then waited about 40 minutes for the table to be cleared & puddings brought (with kids this was frustrating). The barman just constantly told everyone how busy he was & had no customer service skills. People were coming in stating that they had bookings & he just said ‘yeah’. There was no warm welcome at all.

Excellent meal tonight. The landlord is a right comic, made us welcome. My sister & I along with our husbands were celebrating our late mums birthday. It was first class.

Went with my husband and daughter, on more than one occasion to this little café A true Gem, staff are always very helpful and cheerful, The cakes are amazing, I have tried to resist but find them too tempting, and unlike some cakes that look lovely but taste is disappointing, these are gorgeous in looks and taste, last time myself and daughter tried the courgette and lime, while my husband had coffee and walnut, both were very tasty, along with an unusual but delicious Mumbai chai, highly recommended. All in all a very nice eating experience with the backdrop of surrounding woodland, and stream that runs past.

I was very surprised to find this cafe right next to the canal. I really liked the breakfasts as they were homemade and in good quantity. They have cakes and pastries and the coffee is very good. The waitresses were lovely and I was impressed that they are animal friendly, allowing dogs to come in and sit on the chair with their owners. También estuve otro día en una cena en el mismo sitio , en un espectáculo cómico. Hay car park para ir en coche

We don’t live far from BOS so decided to drive down for a couple of hours. It was a very cold day so decided just to have some lunch then head home :-))) We noticed this little cafe and decided to pop in, there was a table right next to the window/door so we went to the back of the restaurant for some warmth, sadly the staff kept leaving the door at the back open even when my husband kept going and closing it. But apart from that hiccup the food was very nice, and I would return but when the weathers warmer :-))))
