Food was tasteful so maybe 4 stars for that. Now service on the other hand I would’ve given 2 stars…I have now been trying for over 20min to get the waitresses attention as she is on her phone and just gazing at the unknown. I have waved my hand 3x and nothing. Mind you the other tables have been waited on and checked on over 2x and ours was just left in the back corner forgotten. Just felt a bit weird Hopefully next time it will be better 🙏🏻

What a wonderful find. So popular you need to book and thankfully our friend did! A wonderful place, spacious but cosy. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Fab menu. Morning coffee time so I just fancied their pancakes , bacon and maple syrup with a latte. Bliss. Would highly recommend this place, so many tasty treats to offer. We're coming again soon so I can sample some more of their menu!

Lovely inside but much to expensive.

Lovely, lively cafe nestled inside the YMCA. Great big, fat sandwiches and toasties on offer, as well as gorgeous coffee, cakes and pastries. Bear in mind that this cafe gets extremely busy as it is situated in a popular area right next to the canal and we were advised to book ahead during our training course. The decor was cute, bright and open, and the staff were lovely and seemed very much on top of things despite being packed 😊

this cafe is cute with nice decoration and a good atmosphere. whilst its in a harder to find place, once you do find it, its great and definitely worth it. it is along the canal which is lovely in the summer, you can also sit outside so you can bring dogs as well! the food here is great quality and portions, breakfasts and lunches are suitable for all ages too. vegan options are available which is great. they also serve a large variety of cakes and sweet pastries which are all homemade and you can pick up on your way out if wanted as they have a takeaway option for cakes and sweet treats! a huge variety of drinks on top of this too! great for big groups as they are able to accommodate to large groups very well, which is good for parties or large meetups, although it is very important that you book. they also have a huge variety of events you can go and take part in at all times of the year, lots if these events are very l different in what they contain and what they are about so there is certainly something for everyone! overall a lovely place, i highly recommend that you stop by here!

We had a very nice brunch here. The food was lovely as was the atmosphere. Added bonus that inside is dog friendly, they even have a menu for dogs. Really enjoyed cooked breakfast and home hade topped crumpets. Will return.

Booked this for a birthday, when we arrived the staff weren't aware of booking but found us a table. The food was very good seemed freshly cooked with good produce.

We stopped here for a coffee, and stayed for a brilliant breakfast. We had the giant crumpets and the vegan breakfast, and were very happy with both. Coffee excellent too.

A really nice place to eat, At the YMCA Bridgwater next to the canal overlooking the country side, the menu looks expensive until the food arrives then you understand you get a lot for your money and they serve a nice coffee, worth a visit.

Food is a overpriced for what it is. Need to learn to cook poached egg as I've been here twice now and they have either broken my egg or given me a rock hard one. But good initiative so can't complain too much!

Great cafe very good food and atmosphere.

We have always loved The Purple Spoon cafe, and so chose them as the caterers for our wedding in Bridgwater in July. They catered perfectly for vegetarians and vegans, with a vegan paella for the day meal (with fish and meat add-ons for those who wanted it!) and a vegetarian buffet for the evening. The service was warm, friendly, and joyful. Everything was done efficiently and the food was delicious. We couldn’t fault The Purple Spoon at all. They went above and beyond, especially to help with providing crockery for family-made desserts… and even helped with serving them!! Always busy, nice food and cater for dietary allergies. Nice selection of food and family friendly. Nice views of the canal. Baby change facilities available. Parking can get full but generally a space available.

The best cafe in Bridgwater! A wonderful warm place with a great selection of cake, sandwiches and much more. Also a great place to stop after a stroll along the Bridgwater/Taunton canal. Have a cuppa and feed the ducks!! These guys do a huge amount for the local community (check out their awards) 100% recommended

Waited 15 minutes before we were even served to be told it was 35 minutes for take away sandwich! Should have been told before being asked to sit to order. Awful customer service

Highly recommend!! Organised a meeting at a local Village Hall near to Bridgewater and asked Purplespoon if they would cater. The service was very friendly and professional and even offered to drop the food to the Village Hall. The food itself was also fantastic, there was a great variety of sweet and savoury options and they were able to cater for a variety of preferences. Will definitely be using Purplespoon again and hope to pop into one of the cafes when I am next in the area. 10/10!!

Really lovely cafe, the all day breakfast was one of the best that I've ever had. I really pigged out & had the hot fudge dessert to finish. The cleanliness is on another level, staff super attentive, would I recommend The Purple spoon, hell yes, amazing experience, keep it up guys.

Fantastic meal at the cafe, brilliant friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Only negative is that only one outside table offers any shade on hot sunny days, some additional portable shade would be most welcome . 😊👍

Next to cycle and footpath. Lovely hot coffee. Buddha bowl delicious and vegan ginger cake light and delicately flavoured. Service knowledgeable and helpful. Inside and outside seating with view of the canal

Such a lovely relaxed atmosphere, so good to see its doing so well. Thank you to the young lady who very kindly cleared up after our doggie was poorly.

Greeted by smiling and happy staff, very helpful and super customer service. The flat white with oat milk with double shot was one of the best I’ve had for a long time. And it’s a beautiful location especially outside with the sun beating down and against the backdrop of the ducks quacking and frolicking in the canal! Highly recommended.

Jacket potato and salad beautifully presented although the potato was only luke warm, great otherwise and salad was delicious . MY GRIPE was being charged 30p for a very small jug of soya milk, enough for one cup of tea. Silly really as they have lost a sale, will return but only have tap water to drink.

Went for a walk along canal with dogs and stopped for some lunch it was very tasty, service very good and lots of gluten free choices too.

We had a table booked for lunchtime at 1:30PM - we arrived on time and sat at our reserved table which even had my mums name written down. Our food & drink orders were taken, and the drinks arrived some 10 minutes afterwards which was fine. I ordered the falafel wrap, my mum ordered a jacket potato with toppings. by 14:20PM we had no food and noticed that other tables which had arrived much later than us were being served their orders and the staff were beginning to sit down and eat their own food which their kitchen staff had provided for them. We went up to ask the staff where our food was after being sat down for nearly an hour, between the 3 staff working front of house (including the woman who served us) not one of them could work out where the food was and why we haven't had it. One of the staff on lunch claimed that she would not be eating her food right now if there was an order still outstanding, due to the electronic system they had in placed to prevent this from happening. A second member of staff then turned round after 5 minutes of searching and said that "the food is being prepped in the kitchen now" without any apology or explanation or a rough estimate of how much longer this would take. Despite all this the restaurant was not particularly busy during lunch and had plenty of covers available inside and outside. We left shortly after hungry without any further attempts to apologise from any staff. I'm confused as the order was taken via tablet which is then uploaded to the kitchen teams and bar teams, the drinks arrived so I really don't understand why the food hadn't even been started/didn't arrive. I have heard some positive reviews about this restaurant which is a shame, but I strongly recommend avoiding it for the bad service alone.

Great cafe food is good and good location along side the canal

I’m gluten intolerant so the variety and quality of food here was a very pleasant surprise. And the service was great too. And I loved the coffee. A very pretty setting too. It’s attached to a sports hall and the toilets were in need of maintenance. But were clean.

Best sandwich ever! The club sandwich was delicious and great coffee too. Can't believe we haven't been here before! Will definitely be back

I can not give any rating for food as they had run out! Except for cake. But the staff were lovely. The setting nice , right by the canal.

Lovely food and coffee, friendly staff and great view out over the canal and the Meads. Just had a piece of cake and a coffee in glorious sunshine watching ducks on the canal. 3 Yr old grandson loves a hot chocolate with his cake!

A really lovely cafe set alongside the canal and within the YMCA building. A good choice of food - breakfast, lunch,tea & cake. Also a good drinks menu. The cafe is very popular so reserving a table would be a good idea but in dry weather you can sit outside. The staff team are always very friendly

My favourite local cafe, but… I love the location and ambiance but the food seems to be getting disappointingly worse every time I go 🥲 Simple flavours lacking, overcooked/solid toast, small portions and coffee making dwindling! Prices still reasonable though :)

I popped in for a coffee and a sandwich when in the area for business. Great coffee and the club sandwich was unreal. Warning - it's huge and really could be shared by two people.

First time in this cafe, certainly won't be the last. Fantastic food and service in a relaxed atmosphere.

Cosy and nice environment in a similar fashion to scoffage since the owner is the same. We had the pancakes and the club sandwich. I wanted to try the homemade crumpets but they run out of them. My gf also had the last set of pancakes. This was on a Saturday at 1pm which maybe it is a sign that they need to increase the stock of ingredients. Nice outdoor seating area for the summer with sun in the afternoon. Next to a canal with some ducks floating around which gives it a special touch.

They know how to cook bacon 🥓 here, lovely and crispy and brown 😋 delicious. My dog 🐕 enjoyed her breakfast from the dog 🐕 menu as well. I highly recommend this 👌 cafe.

Warm welcoming and comfortable. Lovely choice of food and the coffee is lovely. Good prices and always something going on there to get involved with (or not). The staff are lovely and it's always clean. Nice place to bring kids and hold events

A really lovely cafe with friendly staff and great tasting food!

Popped in for a Sunday lunch today. The food was divine, cooked well and not too much on the plate. The service was good too. We will be come back and definitely recommend this cafe.

Staff very friendly but clearly not enough staff on as really long wait times even for drinks (30 mins). They weren't even accepting food orders when we arrived, but fortunately we just wanted coffee. Coffee was decent 👍

Solid 5/5, good variety of food and drink, decent coffee blend, fresh ingredients, impeccable service from the lovely staff, nice decoration and quiet location off the city centre and right near the canal. I would advise to call in advance and book a table as it gets really busy, even on weekdays!

This is a hidden gem situated on the Bridgewater to Taunton canal. It is in the YMCA building with canal side seating. Easy walking distance from the town centre. A menu that includes all day breakfast and a range of alternative dishes including specials for Kids. It is table service only and offers a range of refreshments. Open six (6) days a week and closes at 1600 hrs every day. Will definitely be returning in the near future and recommend to others. Will definitely be returning in the near future an

Lovely lunch at Purple Spoon. They were rushed off their feet today, so we had a bit of a wait, but all the staff are so lovely - polite & friendly at all times. We had a jacket potato, a plate of nachos & and pancakes with bacon & maple syrup. It was all lovely-the bacon could have been cooked a bit more to crisp the fat, but it was still delicious. The coffees were excellent & the aragostine were totally delicious.

Great food at reasonable prices and lovely location

Came across this place whilst exploring the canal on a dog walk. The cafe was reasonably busy but we managed to get a table outside as it was a nice sunny day. We were immediately greeted by a friendly member of staff who gave us menus. This included a doggy friendly menu with a good selection of things for our dog (including ice cream which is her favourite). The menu for us gave a good choice of things from lite bites to larger meals. Our order was taken quickly, the drinks arrived shortly after and the food arrived about 10 minutes later. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling even though we selected light bites. The place is out of the way (at the back of the sports centre but overlooks the canal and hills in the distance. Well worth the trip to go and we will be back.

Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic staff, good view with the canal, lovely to sit outdoors on a good day, here. The food was delicious. I met my mother for lunch and I ate a 3 egg omelette with cheese and ham, made to perfection, my mum had a jacket potato with Tuna and Mayo, both were lovely. My mum commented on how lovely the cappuccino was that we ordered as her drink, while I had a very nice mocha. Highly recommend.

Great find! We enjoyed a delicious brunch overlooking the river. Staff were friendly and helpful and we were especially happy to enjoy The Purple Spoon's relaxing atmosphere after a cancelled hospital appointment. Just what we needed, look forward to visiting again!

This place is hidden away in Bridgwater by a canal and mini nature reserve. It's really lovely. Staff are friendly and chatty, food is good. We had a breakfast fry-up and a jacket potato with beef chili, both very tasty. Great smoothies as well! Particularly liked the Wombles puppets on the windowsill. Lovely place, we will be back soon.

One of the few truly lovely cafes in Bridgwater. Excellent for food any time of the day, have gone for breakfast and lunch as well as just coffee and all were a really positive experience. Cosy environment plus a nice little sun-soaking terrace outside. Can get very busy though, so not the most quiet location.

Visited for an early mother's Day lunch. Lovely space in a wonderful spot with a welcoming atmosphere. Food was excellent with great choice on the menu with gluten free options. All very happy. We will be back.

Only became aware of The Purple Spoon via Somerset Live but so glad we did. Excellent cafe on the banks of the canal and thus a perfect lunch spot on the Space Walk. Food and service were both excellent and a decent coffee as well. Sandwiches and wraps both really tasty and some excellent vegetarian options. Would definitely recommend.
