Popped in for a pint on Sunday. Great old school pub. Just two ales on, Gem and Tribute (both now St Austell brews). We didn't eat but the food we saw coming out looked really nice. Very friendly landlords. Would recommend that you give it a try. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays I think.

Warm welcome on entering the pub by the host. We had just walked the strawberry line from winscombe and called in for lunch. Menu several options but plumped for soup. Soup homemade with rustic bread really tasty. Followed by bread and butter pudding and custard which was very moreish. Other half had warm choc fudge cake which was delightful. Pub is very traditional inside and quirky. We loved it and will return. The landlady came out to talk to us too. We even chatted about cake recipes. All in all a wonderful experience which must be repeated when we visit again . Such lovely people and spot on food.

The White Hart has become a home away from home for us, a local, the type of which we don't have at home. Mike and Gina are the most welcoming hosts and there is always something going on, from pizza nights or chilli nights to music and karaoke events. The food is amazing, we tried the hot dogs, and although I'm not a frequent hot dog eater, but the buns and the sausage (vegan-friendly options available) were excellent. We also went to pizza night and it was the most thin and crispy Home Made Pizza you could ask for. We then enjoyed a coffee and Gina's coffee is worth coming here for - a really good cup of joe :-). Even when not enjoying the great food here, just dropping in, enjoying a drink, and meeting friends is why this is probably the best pub you could ask for. We look forward to returning very soon.

Looking for a lighter not chip filled lunch today and google came up with The White Hart. Called to check if a table was free and the wonderfully polite lady (owner) said of course, dog friendly and apologised for not serving chips, but the food was home made. Right up our and street and in our opinion should not have to apologise. Sure we all love a good chip but for us it was a breath of fresh air and it was what we were looking for. Met with a friendly welcome and such normal polite owners. Could not have been better with our children and dog. The food was fantastic. Ploughman’s, jacket potatoes and sandwiches were the order of the day. My ploughman’s was yummy. Kids played some pool and had free reign of the juke box which is always a welcome treat. Again such lovely people and happy to chat and welcome you. Apologies I didn’t catch your names, but if you see this thank you. We’ll be back next year. Please go here.

In the area to collect my daughter from Bristol Airport, only a few minutes away in driving time, but a world away In real life. This boozer has EVERYTHING.. - incredible location in the Mendips - heart of a lovely quiet village - easy parking on road - regulars out front watching the world go by - very warm welcome inside - really quick, efficient service - proper traditional saloon bar on the right - great selection of beers.. I loved the Shipyard on a warm day - proper pork scratchings - amazing beautiful quiet beer garden backing onto the hills Thank you so much! We’ll be back!

A great, picturesque family run country pub in a very nice little village near to Cheddar. Stone walls and beams greet you as you walk into the pub, and there is a good beer garden for that warmer weather. The main bar area is a comfortable drinking/eating area and there is a games room on the other side of the bar. There was a choice of two well-kept real ales on my visit, so I tried one of each. I would highly recommend this pub as a stop off if you are in the area. Dog friendly. 🐕

This is simply the best pub in Somerset. Great range of beer and ciders. Wonderfully welcoming and friendly landlord and landlady, Mike and Gina. Magnificent suntrap of a beer garden at the back. And as for the food... Yes, the menu is simple, but so, so delicious. If you want chips with everything go somewhere else, but if you want genuinely home made food you can't go wrong. Gina prepares everything herself and each plate is presented piled high and with real care. Nothing is too much trouble and there's a lovely friendly atmosphere, with the same great welcome for regulars and those dropping in for break in a walk. If you are in the area you MUST visit The White Hard, you won't be disappointed.

A traditional Old English pub with a fantastic welcome from the owners and staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Traditional pub grub - can recommend the sausage & mash with onion gravy, the Chilli and the Ploughman’s is immense, would keep one going for a weekend! A newly opened beer garden is a real sun trap but not recommended for those not so good on their feet - a lot of steps. Friday evening is Pizza in the wood oven, very popular, highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment. Excellent choice of well kept real ales.

We popped in half way around on a Meetup walk. It was nice to get inside and out of the rain for a lunch break. We all had drinks and Lunch. Nothing was to much trouble considering there was 9 of us. The food is mostly light bites but good sized portions. I didn't have it, but the Cauliflower Cheese looked amazing and I definitely had food envy. I hope we will be going again very soon. It was the first time we've stopped at a pub while on a organised walk. I should say we did book, and not just turn up, just as well because it was pretty busy and we would have had no chance. If you like good home made food at a good price in an old quiant pub then this is the place for you. We stopped off at The White Hart after a trip to Brean. The hosts were immediately welcoming & very friendly. I had the creamy mash with beef stew. I'm very fussy when it comes to beef as I can find it chewy. This beef was of the best quality & I ate every bit. My wife & daughter had the sandwiches & enjoyed them a lot. The desserts were amazing as well. I had the choc fudge cake with icecream & cream. Again fantastic taste. Not too sweet & sickly & all home made. My wife had a pit of tea which was topped up with more hot water. Great service. Will definitely be coming back for more delicious food.
