The best restaurants in Wootton Bassett East Wiltshire South West

We have been coming to the sun inn for many years. Staff are always very accommodating and super attentive. Food is always fantastic, chefs very accommodating to people's requirements. It's great that the menu changes every season. New menu is very good. Great beer garden in the summer. All round one of the best pubs around. Keep up the high standards you guys set.

The Woodshaw is a nice friendly place for a pint of Arkells beer. There's a Carvery available on Sunday's, which is good value. There's a small garden to sit in if the weather is amenable and children welcome.

Visited for the first time for a carvery, we were intentionally early and did not expect the table to be ready and were quite happy to have a drink in the garden. We were advised to scan the QR code on the table to order. I scanned the code secured below a transparent disc on the table, it took me to what appeared to be the pub webpage, I ordered and paid on my phone. No drinks arrived, I checked my credit card history which showed activity from a movie company. I then spoke to a different member of staff who wasn't surprised and seemed to know all about the forged QR codes and the cloned website. I was then able to order drinks at the bar, our reserved table was ready on time, and the carvery was first class. The following day I contacted my credit card company and after explaining the circumstances they issued me a new card with a new number. I emailed the Pub who were very apologetic and forwarded my observations to their head office , that was over two weeks ago and I've heard nothing since. I should add I did not lose any money as a result of this but if I had not taken the action I did I suspect the outcome could have been much different. Don't let this put you off ,the food is very good, but do not scan the QR codes just navigate to the website , and with your table number you can order your drinks that way.

I went to this venue for a silver wedding anniversary celebration on the afternon on 4th May. The venue is really lovely. There's a great sense of history in the dining area of this former schoolhouse. The food was fabulous and the warm and friendly atmosphere made it rather a magical occasion. I can highly recommend this as a venue to hold an event. Many thanks

We went to buy some bottles of beer for a friends birthday. The lady behind the bar was very friendly but the place was very disorganised. We hoped to buy 3 bottles in a presentation box , but they had run out of boxes. After about 15 minutes the owner found some plain bottle boxes for 6 bottles. We said that’s fine expecting to pay the same price as they would have been individually from their in line shop, which at worst would have cost about £23. But as we had bought the beer in a box we are charged £30. In other words they charged us around £7 for a plain cardboard box. I messaged the Area Manager, Bridie to ask firstly about brewery which we had been told in the bar were about £10, to find out later from their website they are £25. I also subsequently messaged Bridie to ask for an explanation for the pricing of the 6 bottles of beer in the box. So far I have heard nothing back, despite her very prompt reply when she thought we might buy a brewery tour. I suggest that the business gets it ‘s pricing and customer support more aligned. Otherwise the beer I bought and drank while waiting for my overpriced box of beer was very nice.

Very clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Very kind owner. Excellent value for money. Very peaceful and relaxing location. Definatrly recommend.

Fresh fish & chips. Excellent portion size and value for money. Service was very good and polite. After phoning order in advance, it was ready when arrived to collect. Would highly recommend for fish and chips and I will be purchasing my fish and chips from here on a regular basis.

We really enjoyed our visit with friends for dinner. We were a party of 12. The food was excellent, hot and well presented

Great food lovely atmosphere went on good Friday forgot different closing times so felt a little rushed, but very enjoyable food.

We will definately be returning! We haven't been here in years because the place really went down hill, but its had a complete turn over of new staff since March a brand new chef and team in the kichen and its made an incredible difference! We went as a party of 8 for the Festive Dinner menu and we couldnt fault it! The service by Jodie and Sarah was very attentive and the food was incredibly tasty, well cooked and plentiful, could barely manage the delicious dessert! Also great value for money. Would highly recommend!

Enjoyed a lovely Easter Sunday lunch today, good food, piping hot and very generous servings, polite and helpful staff all in all very good 😊

Anyone else I’ll after picking.up a takeaway from here? Last night had a takeaway and OMG have I been bad afterwards. Had nothing else to eat so know it was this. Beef tasted funny

Great local pub with a down to earth welcome from all staff. Jeff is the owner who runs a lovely pub, food is always hot and delicious. All in all a great local charismatic pub. Great choice of beers.

Disgusting service, food was not prepared properly. Was served by a lady called Martha I believe and her customer service skills were as much use as a chocolate teapot

I've been going to this chippy for the last 25 years on and off but its decline is shocking. Overpriced, Mushy Peas came in the smallest of containers, I mean one table spoon portion for £1.75, criminal. Fish and Chips are greasy and the fish was tiny. Unfortunately this take away used to be cracking so not sure whats happened. Cash only has become the norm for these places but used to accept card. As a Yorkshire man I can honestly say this meal was the worst Fish and Chips I've ever had. Avoid and save your coin and go to the Royal Wootton Bassett high street to the China Chef, or Harbour take away.
