The Sun Inn in Wiltshire

The waitress was outstanding, so friendly. It was chilly inside and could of done with the fire lit. The food is not great. The menu extremely boring, mostly everything served with chips. Not a curry or chilli in sight. The portion sizes are big but this is not quality. I think they need a decent cheif and it was expensive if we had paid the normal price. There was a January discount on.

I booked The Sun Inn for a team building day and first aid training. Having had our Christmas lunch here in December (there were 32 of us and it was absolutely brilliant), we booked again as the food is so good and service always with a smile. Thanks again to the team for looking after us so well.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the bar staff and the landlord at the pub for their continued great service throughout 2024. As always, the staff and the landlord are always so helpful and very accommodating. Always go above and beyond for their customers. We had a great time at the pub on New year's eve. Happy new year to you all. See you in 2025.

What a beautiful friendly pub, myself and my wife came to the Sun for lunch yesterday and the food was delicious, the staff very friendly and helpful and we had a great laugh with the landlord. We highly recommend the pub and food. We will definitely been back!!

We have visited this pub for many, many years, always been amazing! The staff here are always so lovely, thank you. Unfortunately, current landlord is not so polite. Today was second experience of rudeness, and really isn’t acceptable. We never complain, but today, New Years Eve, this was not acceptable.

We ordered Lamb and Mint pie £15 and a Fish and Chips £15 ,the meals soon arrived after a short time . Both were very nice with good sized portions .For a sweet my wife had a Chocolate Brownie £7.50 ,again very nice . Inside it was nice and warm as it was freezing outside , my only complaint was it was not wheel chair friendly with narrow doorways as my wife was in a wheelchair making it hard to get to the table . Overall well worth a visit to try the good sized menu .

I’ve visited a few times over the last few years and it’s consistently great. Delicious food, great atmosphere and good service. And it’s dog friendly!

Great pub with great atmosphere and fab staff. The new menu is great and accommodates vegetarian ans vegans really well. Great value for money too! Staff were super helpful and very accommodating for our 19 month old baby who wouldn't really est a whole meals but were happy to sort little picky bit for her which she loved! Our second time here and again, did not disappoint. Thanks all! We hope to see you again soon!

Sadly disappointing after looking for a nice village pub for a Friday lunch out. Ordered a Ploughman's and a Club Sandwich. Ploughman's was basically bread and cheese! A small bowl of pickles and the ham was not the best along with some salami (a bit odd on a Ploughman's). No pork pie, grapes or apple or celery/tomato etc you would expect on a Ploughman's and the butter was solid and straight out of the fridge so bread fell apart trying to spread it. Club Sandwich was not as good as had in many other pubs and not toasted (as the pretty much always are) so again was quite hard to eat as it fell apart when holding. Pub is very attractive and staff were friendly but unfortunately we didn't appear to choose the best food on offer.

Ordering off menu is normally the preserve of the finest restaurants but it is also a sign of truly warm and welcoming hospitality just as we have come to expect in our local. Being Sunday lunchtime I had the excellent Roast Beef but my wife fancied pie and knowing that it was on the weekday menu duly asked. The result was the envy of the pub with staff and punters alike looking over in envy! Great food, excellent friendly service and a credit to our village!

We stopped here at random after bowling in Swindon on our way back to Fairford. What an absolute delight, really friendly staff and such a beautiful clean place. Loads of garden space and we were hoping to grab a portion of chips, they had stopped food but did sort us out. Very grateful. We shall be back. Such a great place! 🤗 Dog friendly too. 🐕

Despite a lovely location, just outside Swindon, lovely decor internally, and pleasant, attentive staff, I was not asked how my meal was and, sadly my meal let them down. I wanted to avoid anything with 'bread', which was very limited, so had the curry but gave my naan bread away. However, my Chick Pea and Sweet Potato Curry literally only had one piece of sweet potato in it and basically looked like tinned chopped tomatoes on a plate, with chick peas inside and didn't have a curry flavour or thick sauce or any spicy or marinated ingredients, as it was overwhelmed by the tinned tomato-deluge! I could have cooked it better myself; so disappointed! Avoid the curry, unless you just fancy tinned tomatoes with plain chick peas. Most of the other menu choices were either 'meat', deep fried or bread-based. Generally all quite unhealthy choices. Where can you get veg, fish or salad these days, in eating outlets in Swindon?

Yet another great meal from the team at the Sun. Great local pub with superb service and atmosphere. The refurbished marquee is a winner.
