Lee's in Wiltshire

The fish was very greasy and was tasteless and very small, can’t believe I paid £6 for it. Chips are reasonable but not very hot, sad really this used to be a great place to buy from.

Always Closed. Doesn’t take cards., cash only. I never carry cash. So I never go there. Get in the 21st century please!! There’s only a few reasons not to take cards. I’m sure the tax man would be suspicious

Great food, great prices, very clean, waited for the cod to be cooked. Delicious chips and fish. They chatted whilst the food cooked and were kind and helpful.

The food is ok. Unlike other fish shops nothing is pre cooked. So you order what you want when you get there and wait for it to be cooked. At busy times you can wait a long time. price wise its comparable to other places. There is parking outside.

We had 4 lots of chips which were not the best we’ve had but they were hot & there was plenty of them. A cheese & onion pasty, 2 fish & a couple of sausage in batter which had a hell of a lot of crispy brown batter on them. There are better places but it was hot & edible & plenty of it.

Bought cod and chips for dinner. It's clear the cod and chips were cooked in old and stale oil / fat, perhaps from earlier in the day or week. The colour of the chips and the fish were dark brown - like the colour of wet leather shoes. The fish was oozing with an unpleasant, brown/ yellow fat. The cod was 60-70% batter and 30-40% fish, and the batter was tasteless. What was there from the cod was rubbery, bland, overcooked and probably cooked from frozen. The vibe from the staff in there is really weird. It is staffed by four or five blank and occasionally somber looking people. No smiles. Rang to complain, no answer. Obviously the owner doesn't care.

Just went to get some chips for an evening to be greeted with a very rude young girl behind the counter. I had smiled on entry to the three girls but one of the girls didn’t smile or anything just stared at me and made me feel so uncomfortable, while the other young girl got my order ready, she just stood there with a hard look on her face (would put anyone off ) I then turned round to head to the door when I heard her speak as I saw her reflection in the window saying an extremely rude personal comment about my appearance to the other girls, she was loud and obnoxious clearly.. and she couldn’t exactly talk being on the large side. So I felt like she needed to grow up and not be such a judgemental bully. Rubbish service never going back, neither should she. (Dark haired girl with braces)

Never again will I visit this fish and chip shop after being insulted by both the staff and manager when I raised a query over my incorrect change. The place is poorly run by angry teenagers with the rudest manager I’ve ever met. Sadly the food didn’t make up for the service.

Served by a very rude man who told us we couldn't have fish as he'd switched the fryers off 15minutes before they closed. 'You can have what is here' we were advised as he grumpily pointed at the items behind the counter. What we did have wasn't covered in batter it was more like armour.....far too thick and over cooked...I'd like to say the chips were better but no....limp and soggy......curry sauce was OK.....

These chips were brown heated from lunch. The sausages tasted awful. The owner was so rude. Won't be coming here again.

Haven't had food from here for a long time but really enjoyed the chips we got recently. Piping hot and really tasty. Highly recommended.

We've been coming here for a while, but have decided after tonight to try elsewhere. Every Friday night is the same. They open at 5pm, we were 4th in the queue and waited 20 minutes for a small portion of chips and 2 jumbo sausages!!! I could understand if it was a tricky order, or took a while to make, but the sausages were sat in the counter waiting. So that means there were not enough chips cooked at 5pm opening for 4 people. Every time is the same, queue going out of the door and everyone has to wait 20 mins plus. The food is average, so in my opinion, not worth the wait. The chinese take away do beautiful food, went in there too, ordered and got served within 10 mins max!

The only fish & chip shop I can think of that doesn’t have any chips cooked at 17:30 on a Friday night. Having placed my order for sausages & chips & handing over my money, it was only when being handed my change that I was informed that there was a 20 minute wait while the chips were being cooked. I can only describe the service at Lees as chaotic. While the owner does all the cooking, he has 3 teenagers who “serve” the customers. By serve, this means 1 takes the order & handles the money. 1 wraps the food when & if it ever gets cooked & the last one just opens up plastic bags for the paper wrapped food to be put into. Maybe if one of these servers were to assist the owner with cooking of the food then maybe on the busiest night of the week they might actually have the main item of food that they sell available for customers. Annoyingly on my part, while waiting for my order to be cooked the servers finally started telling other customers about the wait for chips before they placed their orders meaning many walked out and went elsewhere to get their food - lucky them! After a near 40 minute wait I finally got my order. Sadly it wasn’t worth the wait though as the sausages tasted awful. I used Lees as it was local for me rather than going there for the quality of the food. But never again, from now on I shall use the fish & chip shop in the high street instead. Although not so close to where I live, the food quality is way better & the only wait is because they cook the fish fresh for you.

Fancied fish and chips on a Monday and unfortunately as it turned out this was the only choice. Ordered a fairly large order as wanted to give it a go and counter staff forgot one part of the order. When I enquiried about where part of the order was, I just got attitude from the staff member, was told I would have to wait longer for the missing item then in the next breath told they don't have any left of what I wanted, she seem to take great offence that I had accused her of missing part of the order. Definetly needs to work on her customer service skills. Food was pretty mediocre as well. Won't be going back or recommending to anyone. Next time I'll stick to the high street and not get fish and chips on a Monday in Basset.

THE best fish and chips, always cooked fresh, good portions. What more can I say except yum yum. It makes me drool just thinking of them!

I prefer the fish and chips from this shop than Harbour, as Harbour batter is too thick and stodgy for me, but the batter at Lees is always just right, and the fish always tastes tender. Plus the curry sauce is nicer.

Servicio super lento grosero tenía que esperar mucho tiempo me decidí a recuperar mi dinero y conseguir unas patatas fritas del chino unas puertas. Si las patatas fritas eran algo tan bueno como el puerto de chips en Wootton Bassett no importa esperar por desgracia este no es el caso. Tenemos una broma con la familia de chips lee" llama la garganta cortadores". Siempre secos cosas de mierda. Evita este lugar como la peste. Tuve que hacer un perfil de tripadvisor sólo para hacer que la gente consciente de lo malo que es realmente.

I don't usually go here but on Monday the other fish and chips shops are closed so I went there, and it will be my first choice next time. The fish was very fresh tasting and tender.

Always friendly and good prices,chips sometimes are not 100% to my liking but I have always returned so can't be that bad.

Great takeaway, which won't break the bank. Take classical battered cod and chips, half-pound cheeseburger, any of pies or even a sausage - all fresh and mouth-watering! And you as well can have a family dinner for £10!

Yo tenía prisa, me pareció que me dejaron tomar unas patatas fritas y una salchicha en el camino a casa antes de salir. Por desgracia, patatas fritas lee's sentimos doble preparado, sabes el estilo, bastante marrón y no crujientes. La salchicha maltratadas era bastante horrible....

Fish and chips are always OK but nothing to write home about. Service is usually good. It can get busy there.

Best Battered Fish and Chips in Royal Wootton Bassett (personally my favorites are the Battered Sausages and their curry Sauce!) Great Value!!!

Although the food here is very good, and it is very popular, this must be the slowest fast food shop in the world.Their system seems to be to cook to order, which means the food is always nice and hot and fresh, but it can also mean waiting 45 minutes just for a portion of chips while you wait for everyone else's fish to cook along with their chips. It seems to be a first come first served basis, which is ok, but to wait for 35 other items to be cooked and served when you have just ordered a bag of chips is a bit much.It must be a Wootton Bassett thing because the other chippy in town seems to have the same cooked to order policy, so don't expect to be in and out in a few minutes on a busy night.

RWB is blessed to have two decent chips shops, to be honest Harbour chippy cant be beaten but this is the pretty good second and well worth a visit.The food is good, prices reasonable, the place looks immaculately clean and the service very good.Great thing about it is there is plenty of parking outside the front, cash point next door.I'll revisit and recommend for sure.

Overall very good. When it says large chips, there's more than enough for 2 usually. At busy times (Friday and Saturday), they are extremely busy and you usually have to wait at peak times. Then the portion sizes are a little smaller, but worth waiting for. The fish is very good and freshly cooked. We go there about once a month approx.
