Visited for the first time for a carvery, we were intentionally early and did not expect the table to be ready and were quite happy to have a drink in the garden. We were advised to scan the QR code on the table to order. I scanned the code secured below a transparent disc on the table, it took me to what appeared to be the pub webpage, I ordered and paid on my phone. No drinks arrived, I checked my credit card history which showed activity from a movie company. I then spoke to a different member of staff who wasn't surprised and seemed to know all about the forged QR codes and the cloned website. I was then able to order drinks at the bar, our reserved table was ready on time, and the carvery was first class. The following day I contacted my credit card company and after explaining the circumstances they issued me a new card with a new number. I emailed the Pub who were very apologetic and forwarded my observations to their head office , that was over two weeks ago and I've heard nothing since. I should add I did not lose any money as a result of this but if I had not taken the action I did I suspect the outcome could have been much different. Don't let this put you off ,the food is very good, but do not scan the QR codes just navigate to the website , and with your table number you can order your drinks that way.

Lovely place, lots of outdoor seating space. Food portions are very generous. Had the halloumi and falafel salad and sweet potato fries on the side. However, I had under estimated the salad which had lots of halloumi and falafel and a very tasty sauce, and fresh salad as well. Of course I couldn't finish the meal and took it home. Highly recommend this venue.

Visited for the carvery. The beef was lovely, served pink and generous serving. Plentiful selection of veg so you can pick your faves and avoid the stuff you're not keen on. Very tasty gravy and reasonably priced for a yummy Sunday lunch.

Visited for drink and lunch. Aperol spritz and beer was flat. Bangers and mash were served hot. However clearly evident that this was warmed up instead of freshly cooked. Sausages were not properly cooked and not impressed with the meal or the drinks served.

Sally’s do the best salads around. Any restaurants that want to know how to do a salad just look how Sally Pussey’s Inn does it. I always have the chicken & bacon salad with sweet chilli sauce, great quality and a great portion size….. so fed up with other restaurants saying ‘salad’ on their menu only for it to be the size of a garnish instead. I hope you never change the salads, they’re great 😊

A tall young brunette girl served us and she was absolutely wonderful. Great sense of humour and was so accommodating to my fussy husband. Food was absolutely amazing per usual. My husband ordered the Sirloin steak and requested to have no mushroom and no tomato. The waitress was so accommodating and the food was served promptly. We’ve had breakfast here a few times and the service has always been amazing, however the young girl who served us was hands down the best. She did tell us her name but it’s a bit of a hard one to pronounce so I won’t insult her by trying. Thank you Sallys for yet an amazing meal and I look forward to coming again.

We went for family lunch, greeted well, felt very welcomed was quiet when we first entered then was busy afterwards. Clean area inside lovely decor and outside seating area as well. Was served quick enough as was not busy but didn’t like how my wine was served as the glass had marks on it, was replaced straight away but still had marks. Food was good size portion and very tasty. Kids menu was also very good. Later when it was busy was hard to get order. Food great and good value for money but lacking customer service and quality. Also staff need to be trained as person who served seemed not to have experience.

My wife offered to buy me dinner at Sally Pussey’s. I’m afraid from the moment we arrived, it was a complete disaster. We found a table on the terrace, and sat there for about 10 minutes…no sign of any serving staff. I ventured inside to look at the beers available, but the bar was completely blocked by 4 serving staff, who all were engrossed in some sort of electronic device. Eventually one of the staff said to me “all right?”. I informed that I was indeed “all right” I was halfway through ordering two drinks when she interrupted me ‘where are you sitting? I told her we were sitting on the Terrace. I tried again to order two drinks; again, I was interrupted “Are you eating?”. I told we were having dinner there. At this point I suggested to the young lady that she finished asking me her questions, and then I could order two drinks. This was duly done, and I was told I had to pay straight away for the drinks. I asked if I could put everything on the bill…which is pretty standard restaurant procedure; I was told “No, it’s pay as you go.” Some time later the waitress appeared at our table with my wife’s drink, but told me that they had “just run out” of the beer I had ordered (Wiltshire Gold). I asked what other beers were available; the waitress proceeded to read out a list of all the lagers in stock. When I repeated my request for available beers, I was told “Sorry, I don’t know the difference “!!!!!!!! Another trip back inside for me to choose a different beer. My wife then went inside to order our meal; she was told “If you’re sitting in the Garden, you have to order by QR code. My wife is 67; she does not know what a QR code is, let alone how to use one. Eventually she was allowed to pay with her debit card…how very kind of you! I then decided to have a glass of wine, so another trip indoors beckoned.. Our food arrived; my wife’s lasagne was ok, but my steak was stone cold. I asked the gentleman (supervisor) that I was going inside to buy a glass of wine, he said “don’t worry, I’ll get it for you, and I’ll bring the card machine out to you” Service at last! We finished our meal, and were going to have dessert and coffee, but by this time we were so fed up of running in and out to place orders, we decided against it and left. In summary, your operation of “pay as you go” made us feel like crooks, the staff have clearly never been trained in “meet & greet” skills, and their product knowledge at best. Your ordering procedures are clearly good for you, but as a customer, they are just appalling. Rather than “Sally Pusey’s Restaurant”, Sally’s Self Service Cafe would be a more accurate description.

We visited the Sally Pussey Restaurant for the first time with our in laws and children and had a great meal. You can book places in advance which I would recommend as it was busy due to popularity. The Restaurant is well sign posted on the way into Royal Wootton Bassett with ample free parking. The carvery has a number of planned sittings so we got early and waited in the foyer. The carvery itself was good value - a selection of roast meats with all the vegetables and trimmings and you could fill your plate. The deserts were also substantial and excellent and service was prompt and friendly. Overall a lovely experience and will visit again!

My wife and I ate for a second time. Our experience was the same as last time - very bland food, even though we tried something different this time. My Thai fishcake was okay. My wife asked me to taste her prawn cocktail because the prawns literally had NO taste at all, and she was right. Her Salmon was ok but she left much of the rest. I had the curry - they had run out of the planned curry and apparently they offered Coconut beef Madras - it was perhaps the worst curry I have ever eaten. I am a keen curry lover, and normally a Madras is fairly hot - but this was incredibly mild, VERY bland, and the rice was so mushy. I left much of the rice but battled to finish the chips. My biggest complaint was the size of the portions - all around me people were leaving food because the meals were simply too big. Morally I think it is appalling to be serving such huge meals that people end up throwing it away - customers these days are socially aware of such things. Not good, all round. Lovely staff serving, but food pretty awful to be honest.

As work colleagues we have visited Sally Pusseys regularly on Friday lunchtimes. Today was very disappointing. The service was worse than poor, the food not up to its usual standard and when I pointed out to the waitress that the Ciabatta was not actually Ciabatta but soft batch bread I was told that it was Ciabatta and that this is what the baker sells them as Ciabatta. If that is true then I suggest you change your baker. Sorry but not good enough.

I went here a few years ago for someone birthday so I thought, yep it was good. However, this time not only were we given a shared room even though a function room was booked for a private function but the draft coming through the window was horrendous.Moving on, waitress service was fantastic unfortunately the Coffe was Luke warm at best. When the food came it looked great. Well, the peas were cold, the meat was cooked to perfection but the chips were raw inside. We did get replacement chips that were cooked however the damage was done and I am only now writing this as my stomach has now settled from Saturday nights events. Toilets were not clean and everything looks worn or broken. That is not a problem if the food is good. It was not. We won’t be going back again in a hurry.

Very average standard of food made for the masses and not with love. We had the Sunday roast and it was the usual standard fayre. Frozen vegetables - yuk. Having been to the Five Bells previously it cannot compare to their beautifully presented high quality meal. The Five Bells roast is gorgeous and the sticky toffee pudding is sublime. Judging from the packed restaurant this is a very well supported pub/restaurant. I took my wife and son there tonight. They certainly do not skimp on the helpings of food. We were pleased with the service and the quality of the presented meals. My wife and my son could not empty their plates. my son had chilli concarne which he said was spicy my wife opted for battered cod and chips. I had steak which came with a steak knife, which I did not need as the on table cutlery cut it easily as it was well cooked. A bit expensive compared to other venues but we would go there again.

It’s such a shame as this was our favourite pub for years - we even travelled 2 hours each way once for my birthday, and the food used to be so good. We’ve just left there now and the experience was disappointing. No one greeted us, even though it wasn’t busy. We ordered a starter of deep fried cheese which was actually really nice hence the 2* review not 1. The mains weren’t good. My husbands cajun chicken burger with Brie and bacon was flavourless, no hint of Cajun at all. I had the daily curry, red Thai. The poppadom on top was so soft I could bend it in half and the curry has no flavour or heat to it. It was a huge portion and some of the chicken was good but the larger bits were full of sinew. Hubs left half of his and I left 2/3rds. The girl who collected our plates didn’t comment, just took them so I suspect this isn’t a one off experience. We’re gutted and sadly won’t be returning.

As I am a restaurant manager I won’t do the type of service they do. Too robotic and courses come too fast, you don’t even have time to enjoy your aperitif. First course mushrooms that are yogi they are cooked from frozen mushrooms as you can tell by how much watery they are. Second course a lamb shank that it’s floating in sauce( soupe of a lamb shank ) disgusting and no more words for it you still pay a 13,50 do it. The rib eye stake was grilled on the same grill that all the other costumers steak were cooked so I felt the burnt sensation and taste at all the time which isn’t great. When told to one of the waitress she said she’s passing it to the kitchen. No manager come to see how we were or what was wrong. At the end of the shift there was the same waitress standing around and a chef came at the end of the shift and literally touched her intimate zone in front of the guests. For me those kind of restaurants needs to see the bigger picture and stand out because guests is the priority.

As per usual I was really pleased with the quality of the food and the reasonable price. The meats were cooked to perfection and the vegetables were just right. The stuffing was a bit dry, but that's not the end of the world.Sadly my desert was completely burned on the bottom but I didn't realise until I'd eaten most of it! This is the first time this has happened though and it definitely hasn't changed my opinion of the place.

My Husband and I have been coming here for a great number of years, and have always been more than satisfied with the Food, Service, and Atmosphere. However last Thursday night we came to Sally's for our Wedding Anniversary with my parents, previously having sung Sally's praise, for the excellent food and service. However on this occasion we were extremely disappointed to say the least. Firstly two of the meals we ordered, came 10mins before the other two meals, when the last two meals arrived, the meals were not hot, One of the Chicken & Ham pie's had a bone in it, and the presentation of the meals over all was not to the high standard we have come to expect of meals at Sally's. We ordered dessert, and again two came out, then 5mins later, the waitress appeared and advised us that the choice was not available, (surely this would have been noticed on the chitty at time of placing the order in the kitchen??). We were then offered an alternative, which was accepted. We also then raised the issue re the main meals, (which the waitress disputed, advising it might have been grisel? I have been in catering for over 30yrs, and I am familier with Chicken Bones!!!) with the waitress, who kindly offered to discount our meal by the price of two desserts, However, the overall experience and standard of Food appears to have made a change for the worse. "WHY" and was really not acceptable, especially for a week night. Unsure if their have been management or major staff changes, but the whole flavour of the place now appears a lot cheaper (not price)(very large resturant chain like, when it always was more family, specialist, wholesome pub atmosphere dining) Our whole evening was spoilt. We shall carefully consider again, before choosing to come to Sally's again, or recommending or bring friends and family. Shame

Have been meeting my friends once a month at Sally Pussey's Inn for the last 8 years and tonight was the second time on a trot I've been disappointed. Not only has the meal I normally have been moved to the lunch time only menu (Tikka chicken breast) but when I did ask to have it as an evening meal, it arrived with chips and peas and not jacket and salad like I had ordered! I therefore asked for it to be changed and the salad it was served with was insulting ... a few lettuce leaves, some grated carrot and a couple of bits of onion (no tomatoes, cucumber etc) This used to be such a lovely dish and a fantastic portion! No idea why the lunch time menu is now so much better than the evening menu and why cut backs are being made with salad! (What I was served didn't even pass as a garnish!)

Happened to be driving by and decided to pop in for breakfast . The lady serving us was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast menu covered most things from a full English to a bacon buttie. We chose a larger breakfast that comes with coffee/ tea included in the price and a smaller breakfast where you have to order your drink separately. The food was very tasty and hot, the sausages were one of the best tasting that we have ever had. Everything was good and was served quickly and pleasantly. Both breakfasts with drinks came out at the same price of 7.50 each so my tip would be to order two of the larger breakfasts and therefore have a greater choice on your plate. The coffee was served in a caffetierre and was great tasting and hot. Car parking was good with good access for the less nimble via a ramp. All in all a good find for us and we will be returning to try the much advertised carvery.

We booked into Sally Pussey's in Royal Wootton Bassett, for lunch for 20 family members to celebrate our youngest daughters christening, not having been to the restaurant before, but having heard good things. On arrival shown to our two large tables in a conservatory area of the restaurant. Though we were a little cramped in.Due to how busy the restaurant was being Sunday lunchtime of a bank holiday weekend, it did feel like a conveyor belt at times. Having more staff would have helped / or having less tables (but then profits are everything!), and stopped the issues we had.One sore oint, when we had 3 babies in the party - They don't have any highchairs. We did know this in advance, but for a restaurant to not have any highchairs in this modern day and age simply isn't good enough. When the food was ordered, the staff forgot one of the tokens needed for the carvery. The steaks two of us ordered, were sent to the wrong table, and so we were offered a free upgrade on the type of steak (as they had already started to cook them), but when they arrived, my friends medium-rare was overdone and my medium-welldone was underdone. Not good for a restaurant that prides itself on the quality of its meat. When the desserts for the children arrived, one of the ice-creams was wrong, and then they tried to charge us for an extra dessert. This was quickly remedied, but shouldn't have happened in the first place.Toilets were clean and tidy, though difficult to find.Overall a slightly disappointing meal, that was meant to be a family celebration.Certainly room for improvement!

Stopped here after shopping. We didn't have a booking and were seated straight away. It was very busy. We ordered our meal at the bar. Didn't have long to wait. The meals were large portions. Too much for me but good for someone with a good appetite. The meals were piping hot although the chunky chips could have been cooked for a bit longer. Still hard in the middle. The meal itself was ok and the price was reasonable. The staff were also very friendly. Also it got very hot in the restaurant.

Everything you'd expect from a local pub. Busy but friendly staff. We nipped in for a quick pub grub dinner. Steak and a tuna steak. Reasonably priced. Varied pub grub menu and some local ales on tap. Lots of parking and a pub garden

We were regular patrons of this establishment for many years but gave up going. The food is not up to the standard of the most basic fast food outlets, although I have never used the carvery. The bar is overcrowded with people trying to put in food and drink orders and, finally, when it gets toward 9.00 to 9.30 pm the staff start stacking chairs on tables as a massive hint to leave.

We stopped here for lunch on a Friday afternoon, as we entered, my husband holding our eleven month old daughter, the manager (?) was at the bar, looked at us, ignored us and continued to tinker with his laptop. We caught the waitresses eye - no warm welcome but returned our 'hello' brusquely, we asked if we could sit anywhere for lunch to which she nodded, as an after thought whilst looking at something on the bar, she stated ' don't do high chairs though'! We are amazed a large pub - owned by a well known chain (Arkells) could be a) so unfriendly and b) have a policy not to cater for young families. Obviously, we won't be visiting the Sally Pussey until our daughter can sit on a chair at the table, and then, it's still massively unlikely.

Went with wife and mother in law. Nice bustling atmosphere, fairly busy pub. I had the lamb shank and both ladies went for the pie of the day which was chicken and leek. Loads of really nicely cooked vegetables with both dishes. Toatal bill for three (With drinks) was about £40 which seemed good value.

We have been here before and the food and speed of service were up to the usual high standard. I had ham egg and chips and my wife had a jacket potato with a very good salad garnish. Normally one would expect to be asked if there was anything lacking or required when the food arrives. Not this time. I don't know if the waitress was having a bad day but the food and cutlery were just dumped before us and she was off like a shot. I had to call her back and request some English mustard. She, seemingly, huffed off and came back with a squeezy pot of Heinz mild mustard - sort of sauce. It was rather tasteless, not simply 'mild'. When I have ham I rather like a mustard that "grabs the nose". Anyway, apart from that the food was excellent. Lots of parking, easy access from the M4 Swindon junction. Oh yes, pot of tea very good and very reasonable and finally, the toilets were clean and smelled - how do you describe a nice toilet smell? it was ... perfumed.

I have just got back from lunch at Sally Pussys and was amazed to find they had a separate gluten free menu. As I'm new to this gluten free lark I'm still unsure what I can and can't eat. I would have ordered the chicken tikka and yogurt and mint dip salad but this was not on the GF menu??? l could have been ill if it wasn't for the separate menu. I went on to have a lovely curry and rice. Well done and thank you.

My partner and I were staying in the local area and were drawn to this restaraunt by its name and by the reviews and we weren't disappointed. The service was super fast and the food was great and the portion sizes were very large. The staff worked hard cleaning the tables and being very attentive. The pie was packed full of meat and was a large portion. Pudding came quickly and was a large portion tasty and extremely filling

We were looking for somewhere to eat after visiting Avebury and Swindon and were just passing by. The meals we ordered were generous in proportion and efficiently delivered by courteous staff. However the meal was over cooked and dry and tasteless and thoroughly unappetising! This was a thoroughly disappointing meal where the staff in the kitchen seemed unconcerned with rather delivering quantity over quality.

Late on Saturday eve ,passing and I thought I'd give it a go. Was impressed from the moment I walked Through the door being met with a friendly smile and a no reservation, was shown to a table for two and a chance to cast my eye over the menu and most importantly the restaurant. First impressions always with me and this place didn't dissapoint , being spotlessly clean( no dirty plates lying around), very polite friendly staff and very busy! The food is good pub grub with generous portions not lacking on taste .To be fair the menu does go a bit more than just pub grub and I give full ratings because I liked the way it was run with attention to detail, will be back.

I visited this place for my father's birthday and I must say that the atmosphere was very noisy and busy. This is good for when you have kids but unfortunately we just wanted a chill evening. Food, however, arrived on time and was well heated. There was good value for money - the portions are generous but the quality of the food was average. We'll probably come again if the local wetherspoons is shut.

We went for lunch. The food is excellent, large portions always freshly cooked and hot. Always tasty. The only negative is the have started making coleslaw with red cabbage I think it looks like vomit on the plate and does'nt taste that nice, also the selection of what is in a salad is not that good too much lettuce. This is only a minor problem. The carvery at the weekend is always excellent, but you must book as it gets very busy.

This was my second time here, the first time a few years ago i was very dissapointed with my meal and would not go back, but decided today to give it another go. We had a table booked and the only disappointment was that we walked in and wondered about for about 5 mins expecting someone to offer to show us to our table,in the end we went to the bar and asked.we had more or less decided what we were going to have before we went in, but on going in noticed the carvery was on.......Mmmm not contest then so it was 4 carverys but my daughter decided to have the lamb shank as she had tried it last week, but she did not like the wine sauce it is cooked in, which is lovely, but there you go so she told the person who served us she wanted she lab shank but with a bowl of gravy instead of wine sauce they did it perfectly for her and the rest of us had the carvery which was just delishious, i did not eat a huge meal as i have just got over a bug and have not been eating well, but what i did eat i just loved, and i am sitting here now and i could eat it again now, especially the couliflower and cheese sauce, they sat us in a room next to the carvery which was lovely and only us there, so we did not feel we were disturbing othere people as we can get a bit noisy laughing etc, The staff were great, the food was great and yes i will be back and soon .

Hi, I am a regular visitor to this restaurant with my Husband and sometimes friends and family, we have always enjoyed a lovely Roast Dinner and had excellent service, but on the last two or three visits the standard have dropped dramatically. The carverywas still very good, but the service wasn't. My Family was left sitting at our tablefor simply ages before they took our empty plates away, in the end I had to ask someone to remove them, bearing in mind on that day Easter Sunday it was unusually very quiet and the young staff were just chatting by the kitchen entrance.I just felt since it's now under new management the standards have dropped and it needs addressing or else I possibly won't return there. Another issue I find whichneeds addressing are the toilets, I obviously can't comment on the Gents but the Ladies toilets need checking more often as they are constantly a mess in there with tissues all over the floor, and toilets are often blocked. I would say ideally it would be a good idea to pop in there through the day to check them.

Having eaten here for many years tonight's visit was something that I wish I'd not bothered to do. To summarise cold soup that had to be replaced, then cold veg with the main course so that had to be replaced and if that wasn't enough then found a stalk from the thyme that had been used in the steak and Guinness pie. To rub salt in the wound the waitress then openly admitted it should not have been there!! Go somewhere else to spend your hard earned money, please be warned.

Haven't been here since a disastrous Christmas meal many years ago. Often hear good things so gave it another go. We were a large group and were well catered for. Some of the senior staff are a little aloof, not really sure why. The waiting staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. We had a mix of the Carvery and food from the menu. Have to say for a pub setting I was very impressed. The Carvery was well enjoyed. The food from the menu was fab, lots of choice and the children's menu is one of the best I've seen. Lots of different choices for them including salads, steaks and burgers. Does get very busy so advisable to book. Will definitely be back for another try.

Just off the M4 so easy and quick to get to for those traveling with plenty of parking. Friendly attentive staff in a modern looking pub and very clean. The place was not busy when we arrived but a few tables had reserve notices on them. It turned out they were not reserved, confusing? Not a large place so could fill up quickly, I think I saw outside space for those better days? The food was good, I had a burger and it was well presented and tasty with a good pile of chunky chips but loads of other choices on the menu. Looking across at other tables their choices looked good also.

Absolutely dreadful! Advertised a la carte menu replaced with a 'bar' menu. Took the waiter 15 minutes to bring a menu and ask if we'd like drinks 40 minutes for food to arrive which was not hot. The pork belly my colleague had was wrapped in gooey fat not crackling, the pumpkin sauce was a teaspoon of orange 'something' and the seasonal veg was mashed potato and some peas. The chicken burger was deep fried and tasted of old fryer fat as did the 'tepid' skin in chips. Presentation of the burger was non existent and the two tiny leaves of lettuce were brown. This was fed back to the waiter when he finally returned to our table his response was he'd mention it to the Chef. The after dinner treat of sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery, not moist. The tiniest bit of ice cream and a token gesture at the sauce all was tepid. The dining room was cold and drafty. The decor tired and wall paper peeling off the ceiling and walls. Utterly awful experience with nobody interested in the overall shoddiness of the service and food. Really disappointing, especially as this is the closest hotel to work. A real missed opportunity for this Hotel and Restaurant.
