The Pack Horse in Wiltshire

Visited the packhorse to meet a mate on a Friday after work. Pub was busy. Lots of happy people just enjoying the place. Log burner, dogs, pool, Guinness, snacks, great staff. Felt like a large, communal front room. People there for a birthday party all in fancy dress and singing. It was good. 4 stars only because the entrance is freezing cold and teeming with mould. That said, a lemon-scented marble entrance hall wouldn't fit at all. Glad I went and would definitely go back.

Seemed nice enough. Difficult to give a full review as we only stopped for one drink and it was quiet.

Limited opening times so missed it on the first night of our 2 night stay but open the next night. Shame as it was the cosiest, friendliest pub we found. Also dog friendly. Nice garden and modern and cosy inside. Ten minute walk from town but worth it, Mainly locals but welcoming.

We decided to have a fun sports day with work along with a BBQ at The Pack Horse, Exellent Service , Great Food & catered for all our needs! Highly recomended. Splendid Arvo/Evening , Thank you Toni & Joe

After returning from our gig at the Canteen in Bristol we decided to stop off in Chippenham for a bite to eat. It was just our luck that we came across the Pack Horse a delightful little pub which met our needs perfectly. Jo and Tony were incredibly kind and served us up with 4 very hearty meals and even allowed us to use the jukebox for free. With four happy bellies full of scampis, this ideal pit stop left us feeling fully recharged for our show tonight at the Victoria in Dalston at 9:30pm.

Asked some locals where was good for a bite to eat, and was directed to the Pack Horse. I'm not sure what locals consider good, but this isn't is. Greasy cheap burger, the worst pub chips I have ever seen. It's a beautiful building, nice beer, but all of us felt queezy after eating here.

Proper pub. Juke box, pool table and different sports on. Great selection of beers/cider. Would go there again.

I will never be returning to this place as they treated me like rubbish and was disrespectful to my whole family when we went in the landlord was nothing but rude to myself and my disabled mother with sly and horrible remarks , you couldn’t pay me enough to want to return to this place and I urge others to avoid by all means

What a fantastic traditional pub. Great selection of beers and ciders. Very welcoming staff, a lovely old building, pool table, plenty of outdoor seating and the best priced in all of Chippenham. Would highly recommend popping in for a pint or two and some delicious food. Just a note, I've heard karioke nights can get lively..

Nice pub but a little small inside, nice beer garden and plenty of parking. Drinks and food are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. Look forward to returning soon

DO NOT visit. I was accused of taking drugs whilst using the toilet by the landlord. I was enjoying my evening with my partner until this happened. This WAS my local where I spent a lot of money. I will not return again.

We visited The Pack House with all family. It was unforgettable time. They have everything for each taste in the menu. Food , drink & entertainment. Will come back more. Highly recommend you to visit.

It's location is absolutely sublime, surrounded by a combination of buildings both new and old that have this building nestled within it. The drinks are fairly limited in variety but it's to be expected by a lovely local that's on a road side. Having said that I did have a beautiful Thatchers pint, a line within thatchers I've never had before which really hit the spot. It has a lovely and eclectic handful of locals and a pool table to match. And not to mention its massive beer garden. Marvellous place

Not only are the venue breaking every covid regulation by not encouraging track and trace and encouraging locals not to wear masks but there is no respect for social distancing. Food is awful, things cooked days before and re-heated for serving. Also heard from the locals that the mutton landlady is known for flirting with all the men and several affairs with whoever will pay her attention which was obvious from the evening, very desperate woman and a pub with no atmosphere, food that makes your stomach turn and a very unclean premises

One of my favourite pubs in the Wiltshire area. Ian and Michelle are the loveliest of landlords and the atmosphere is always very welcoming and family-friendly. Great selection of alcohol and the hard work they have been putting in over lockdown has made the place look even better. Would recommend to anyone who lives in the area or is visiting.

Great proper pub. Chap in the garden doing Elvis impression which I didn't expect on a Sunday afternoon. Really friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Everyone social distancing so a fantastic session.

Good solid pub fare enjoyable meal with a good menu choice given the circumstances . Burgers were excellent as were the pies

First post lockdown pint. The landlord Ian is a joy to talk to and the Doombar was clearly fresh from the brewery. We will be back soon

Nice friendly pub with right prices.

As it was on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, on this occasion I was only there for the beer and I can aver, without equivocation, the Otter Elf was in noble condition. The pub has some history and the landlord can lay claim to a haunting experience - and that's nothing to do with the excellence of his cellar. With much work done to improve the outside area, on a lovely day (remember those?) the beer garden will be lovely place to sup and munch.

Walked in, a dog had a go at me. I went to a different area and it ran after me aggressively. I had to leave very quickly! Staff did nothing.

Even after 2.30 and wanting lunch we were given a lovely welcome, excellent beer and food and great value. Sitting in the garden was a bonus. We hadn’t been there for about 20 years but will now return a little more regularly. Thanks to all at the Pack Horse

very unfriendly manager ( think his name is Ian) customer service is clearly not on his agenda!.. having been there a few times thinking his demeanour might change.. ( maybe he was stressed on the first day we visited) .... nope it’s safe to say he’s pretty consistent with his lack of people skills... best kept on a building site or in the kitchen out of the way.... will definitely not be returning...

Nice selection of ales and spirits, no idea what the food is like, but it looks good.

Beer ok. Not all kept brilliantly especially the guest ales. Sometimes find it slow for service. But on the whole reasonably decent pub. Beer garden good.

I've been inside the pub only one time, it looks very cosy and homely; a comfortable, almost romantic atmosphere.

Having lost our shed venue, the Pack Horse welcomed the Chippenham Shed members and let us use an area for our Tuesday meetings. Thank you for your support. It's a great place and friendly too.

Great spot but is very much the 'locals scene'. Got plenty of looks for just being there. They had the football playing when we arrived so it was packed and incredibly loud. The garden retreat was well needed and much more pleasant than inside.

This is the best traditional locals pub in Chippenham. Cons bit out the way from town centre. I'm not sports orientated so a bit too sports TV ish at times for my tastes. However they have a juke box that can play separate areas including the big well tended garden. Separate kids playing area. Dog friendly and big car park. Good basic food. A great family safe pub.

Very friendly staff, popped in just to use the loo while in the area and staff were very kind and polite. Facilities clean and enjoyable and atmosphere was perfect for what it is.
