The best restaurants in Calne Central Wiltshire South West

I was so looking forward to having a decent Kebab for a change but Sammy your Doner Kebab meat was not good. Salad tasted fresh and was plentiful and I’d guess it would be ok if you’re were drunk but the meat was wafer thin and was chopped up like a two year old child’s meal. I even told you it was my first time visit. I won’t be returning if this is your best !

Great food, great choice of menu, great staff, great venue. Starters came out in good time I had the mussels which were delicious with plenty of bread to mop up the sauce. I then had the sirloin steak which was well cooked to medium rare as requested. There was zero fat and I ate the whole steak. Really enjoyed the Italian vegetables. Pudding choices were great but no tummy space left unfortunately. Friends reported their meals were just as good. Will be back.

My wife and I decided to have lunch here, as we had not been before. Lovely quiet location and welcoming staff and atmosphere. Extensive menu choices with so many appealing options on offer. The spiced banana milkshake was amazing as was the pork belly kare kare. Delicious combinations and something different than the usual. So good we will be visiting again next week. Highly recommended and Tess the owner is lovely.

An attractive riverside location with seating both inside and out. A varied menu and great coffee. Licensed too! Toilets neat, tidy and clean. Good service…friendly and professional. Food cooked to order so can sometimes mean a bit of a wait. We will return

This was by far one of the best breakfast this year! Everything was so tasty and cooked to perfection. The staff are absolutely lovely, really friendly people and the café is clean and welcoming. Highly recommend.

A very pleasant restaurant, fresh decor and variety of seating areas. The warm toasted ciabatta of roasted vegetables and goats cheese was fresh and extremely tasty. The ciabatta was served with a small side salad of green leaves . The staff efficient and friendly, a relaxing atmosphere for lunch.

Really lovely place for some craft beers. Meet friends, staff are really friendly and knowledgable about the beers and local gins, if you don’t know what you want to order the staff take the time to find out what you like and pair a beer / gin to your taste, not failed us yet! We love this place it’s a little gem in the heart of Calne. Had limited opening hours so check it out before you go.

Excellent place, full of charm and character, brilliant scenery. Now for the food, service and atmosphere. Lovely olde wordly charm inside, clean and welcoming, food really very good, a limited menu but that helps a lot as clearly the chef focuses on what he knows best. Also a big thank you must be given to Tina and Tilly, who were both run off their feet, but still had time to look after us and ensure everything was good, which clearly it was. Thank you ladies, you made an excellent meal even better! PS book in advance or you won't get in, very popular.

Well we didn't even get as far as eating. A group of friends booked for a birthday meal , we were asked to order in advance , which is fine. Then we were told they had accepted another booking ( larger than ours which was in double digits) and could we change our date? Needless to say we cancelled . If our custom was not valued , we are going elsewhere. I appreciate January is a difficult month and you want as much custom as possible, but this appears as greed. You can't ask people having birthday meals to change date !

Very up and down this place. Sometimes cooked really well and delicious, sometimes sadly pretty awful. It's more expensive than other Chinese takeaways in the area but when it's good it's worth it I really hate feeling ripped off though and I did tonight.

Ordered to collect the chow mein was missing where we got home. They delivered a replacement fast enough but tasted old and greasy it had a really funky twang. The food overall wasn't good either and the duck in plum sauce always anemic and pale beige even the sauce was beige. People of calne must have strong stomachs because it's gone straight through me. Won't be returning
