Was sat eating my dinner of jacket potato and cheese with salad. When the owner who was clearing a table behind me chucked some crockery and cutlery in to a bowl of water. It splashed out the bowl and the water went on to my dinner and over my mum's and my clothes. A bean also landed on my plate. Told them I couldn't eat it now and wanted a replacement and he accused me of complaining and wanting my money back. I said no I just want a replacement as I couldn't eat it with dishwasher liquid and someone else's bean on it. After arguing with me and repeating you just want your money back there is no glass in it, I said I never said glass I said splashed ...but still he did not seem to understand what I was saying. he then said he would give me a replacement but as he put the food in front of me he said this is your last meal you are barred. It upset me that much I couldn't eat the replacement meal... Really upset me and im still in disbelief of what happened there.

As I always do, I like to try new areas to eat I have not tried before. Well, what can I say. Happy workers with a cheery greeting to all customers, even the more ‘difficult’ customers. Nothing is too much to make people welcomes and to give them the best they can. Delicious food cooked with love.

We visited this chippy as we were "just passing" - how fortunate!! They have a few tables in the front of the shop so we sat down on one of them to view the menu - and we're amazed - we last paid these prices years ago!! I had a steak & kidney pie and my wife had cod & chips both with a can of Diet Coke. I also had baked beans and my wife had curry sauce. Total cost not £12 each but £12 in total i.e. £6 each!! The food was delicious. The staff (owners?) were so friendly and made us very welcome. We were absolutely gob smacked that a restaurant like this still exists. The people of Calne are extremely fortunate!

It was my first time and I was impressed. Good friendly service and quite quick too given how busy they were. The chips were lush!

Yuk. Rather poor. Very soggy chips and fish quite small (it was a large one). My usual chip shop was closed for holidays, I'll try an Indian next time!

Portion size is large, the chips were perfect and curry sauce rather good too. Free parking nearby, plenty outside seating close by.

Very cheap and nasty food, not what is advertised on wall posters at all and absolutely caked in grease! We have tried this place a couple of times and is consistently poor so won’t be going again. The only reason for 1 star is the ladies working in there are very pleasant.

As a northerner, there is not much I appreciate more than a good old fish and chips! Dolphin Fish Bar food is always high standards! Tastes just like official sea side fish and chips to me! The staff are always lovely as well, though I'm still not sure where they are from? By far the best chippy in town! Thanks a lot!!

We’ve just polished off cod roe, savoloy and a mountain of chips! Delicious as always. Staff are so friendly and lovely....and so bloody generous! This is our favourite chippy and happy to drive out of our way to collect!

I normally call in here for sit down fish and chips when I am down in Calne on business. Previously this has been a good place to eat and whilst I cannot fault the food, I am very angry about the cost and the receipts I received! Obviously as a business traveller, I ask for the VAT receipt, and on placing my sit down order I was advised this would be £9 which I paid via contactless card. I was advised the order would be brought to my table, and I asked for a VAT receipt which - at the time I thought the server seemed a bit apprehensive about - but eventually printed out a till receipt, which I admit I didn’t check and just placed in my wallet along with the contactless receipt. Today I have checked through my receipt and matched them up only to find out that this establishment have charged me via card for £9 yet the till receipt shows £8!! I accept this is only £1 difference but as far as I’m concerned, firstly it surmounts to theft in my book, and secondly if they were doing this to everyone then that’s a hell of an additional turnover!! FAR FAR FROM IMPRESSED, AND WONT BE EATING HERE AGAIN!!!!

Whenever we are in calne this chip shop is visited . The fish is beautiful accompanied by more than enough chips . Personally think at the moment best one in the area

Went in for a takeaway to get large fish and chips as we were in the area . The fish I was sold had hardly any fish inside the batter and my chips were warm . When are these people going to realise that in this day and age we live in ( you’re not going to keep getting away with serving this slop to people and charging good money, Apparently I just found out that if I had gone s bit further down the road to Duncan st, there is another fish and chip shop which is meant to have an amazing reputation.. O well, next time .

This is so much more than your usual chippy. I had chicken and chips, my dad had chicken and salad, mum had tuna jacket & salad. Big mugs of tea & a cappuccino... We arrived very late for lunch, but they were very accommodating to my elderly parents and we stayed whilst they closed. They were so incredibly gracious. 3 meals with for £16.00 complaints at all.

Last holiday we fancied Fish & Chips and we had a really great take-away meal from the Dolphin Fish Bar in Calne. The Haddock portions were huge and were delicious. The chips portions were massive and even too much even for four hungry people! The service was friendly and efficient and the fish & chips were excellent value for money.

Sit down or take away, invariably busy because it is very good, - good value good quality and very pleasant people despite being rushed off their feet. Not British nationals but they know how to do Chish-and-Fips proper like. A slightly broader range than the original selection and they cater for the elderly with mid-week/off peak specials. The staff are friendly and greet newcomers like friends and regulars like family. Been going there on and off for three years and not had a bad meal yet.

I'm an American who was looking for Fish & Chips during a recent quick tour of England. I tried it in a number of different places, because I wanted to get a sense of the variation. I found decent F&C in Portsmouth, and fair to awful in London. Fortunately, one day, I was semi-lost driving around and stumbled upon the parking lot at the nearby Sainsbury's. I needed to collect myself to figure out how to get where I was going, plus get a quick snack as I was pretty hungry. I saw that there were a few shops across the street so went over there and saw this place. Rather than grabbing a snack at Sainsbury's, I ventured to try the F&C here. I had the Haddock and Chips. The place was very pleasant, the crew nice, and the food was outstanding, reasonably priced, and plenteous. After all was said and done, this was my favorite experience with F&C during my time over there. Who would have thought that I'd be putting Calne on my list of places to visit again in the future?

We were hungry after being out on a day trip so I asked for two large Haddock & Chips, which were cooked whilst I waited. The Haddock portions were huge and were delicious. The chips portions were massive and far too much even for two hungry pensioners! One large portion of chips is plenty for two people. The service was friendly and efficient and the fish & chips were excellent value for money.

The staff are really friendly and the food is very good quality. Unless you eat a massive amount of chips, you will not need more than a cone size portion as a standard size will easily feed two people.

Top food from an amazing family run business. Weve been going here for 5 years now and will be going for as long as theyre here.... always remember who you are.always chat to you and the kids. Dont go anywhere else !

I've visited the Dolphin Fish Bar a couple of times and never been disappointed. I've only ever ordered their fish, chips and mushy peas, so can't comment on the other items on their menu (which includes burgers, chicken, kebabs etc). My girlfriend is gluten-free, and they offer to grill the fish rather than fry it for us, which she was really pleased with. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. They get really busy on a Friday evening, but that's a testament to how popular they are.

Love visiting this fish and chip bar. It's the best in Calne and great to eat in or take away. Took my dad in today when he visited, he says it's the best fish and chips he has ever had and loves it there. It's friendly, fantastic and welcoming.

I have tried the chips in most places in Calne and have to say this is the best place by miles . It gets busy so you have to wait a few minutes but that is always a good sign . The chips and battered sausage I had were spot on and the curry sauce amazing . Really friendly staff too. Will be going back soon - recommended!

First visit, a bit of a delay in getting our food after ordering, however well please when we got home and had the food. Very tasty, the portions are huge.

We order from here regularly and always get well cooked non greasy fish and chips. They have a standard but large menu and customer service is always second to none. Worth phoning ahead if you want Haddock which they always cook perfectly to order.

We use this fish & chip shop at least twice a month, the fish is good & fresh, it is cooked to order by the owner or his wife, the chips portion sizes are massive & they are hot. The shop also serves other things pies etc aka any normal fish shop. There is a small seating area so you can eat in if required. Due to its location & quality, it can be quite busy at times, prices are very reasonable especially given the portion sizes. There is plenty of free parking close by

This small fish bar in Phelps Parade is very popular, used by passing tourists and locals. The food is very good and the prices reasonable. there is room for about ten people to sit and eat and although it looks small, it is comfortable and very clean. There is a Senior citizens fish and chips meal for £3 which is tasty and adequate and I am certainly not a small eater. as well as a wide range of takeaway food. The staff are very friendly and helpful too.
