I really like Chinese food, this is the worst ever! 1.6 miles away and exactly 1 hour for delivery at the princely sum of £4.50! “If you don’t like it come and pick it up” The crispy quarter duck was remants from some else’s meal, not a lot of meaty bits, just a load of crispy bits!. Poor service and poor food. Expense as it’s poor food and service. Never again

Placed an order for chicken batter balls standard size portion with curry sauce & pancake rolls,then amended order over the phone to larger potion 13 balls & paid extra. Arrived with standard size potion & sweet & sour sauce! Not ever ordering online from them again as ruined my treat for my friends. & I paid extra for extra balls. Lady I spoke to was lovely & no blame on her shoulders at all.

Good food, quick delivery, easy to order online, decent portion sizes and a friendly delivery driver. Would definitely order again.

Absolutely HURRENDOUS. Over two hours waiting, phoned the restaurant to see where our food was, the woman couldn’t be more argumentative if she tried. Kids went to bed hungry, food was cold. It’s a joke. NEVER ORDERING HERE AGAIN.

Reheated and if it wasn't then even worse. For the price I'd have liked it freshly cooked. Certainly not as good as it used to be. Maybe the oil needs changing. 30 min delivery which is fine. I'd wait longer for freshly cooked. Shame.

Waited over 2 hours for delivery. When the food arrived I wasn’t impressed at all. The prawn curry wasn’t even a curry it tasted like a congealed gravy which has been on the side for two weeks to go along with the two tons of onion with the dish and the 4 prawns. Also the prawns balls the batter was soggy and the prawns was so tiny so basically tasted like a soggy slop also the sweet and sour sauce was watery. The chow main was greasy which left a nasty taste on each bite. The egg fried rice tasted funky and old. Overall not worth the money or the wait. We have order from here many times never really a issue. Tonight will be my last time.

Probably not the cheapest, but the best takeaway in Calne! Great food and friendly service. Check the online menu for latest updates / prices. Very good all round.

Chicken curry is more onion curry now was my second favourite Chinese in calne but after mainly onions and peppers for our family Friday take away I will just go back to the ones that don't deliver

Little did we know that our seemingly innocuous choice would lead to a veritable odyssey of frustration and dismay. Forsooth! The delivery of our much-anticipated repast took an egregiously protracted 1 hour and 40 minutes, turning our rumbling stomachs into cauldrons of seething impatience. When I, in my most cordial and courteous manner, endeavored to ascertain the whereabouts of our order, the response I received was nothing short of a flagrant display of apathy and disdain. "It will arrive when it arrives," they declared with the nonchalance of a somnambulist. The temerity of this so-called "Lucky Boat" to presume that their abysmal customer service could be shrouded in a cloak of anonymity is a testament to the hubris of an age long past. Behold, the power of the digital review to expose their lamentable inadequacies! My esteemed friend, who typically partakes in the culinary offerings of the laudable Wok Express, was utterly mortified by our misadventure. Alas, the food itself, which arrived tardily at 8:09 pm, was, to put it diplomatically, unremarkable and lackluster, paling in comparison to the Wok Express by several country miles. No longer shall we frequent the disreputable establishment that is "Lucky Boat." Nay, it should henceforth be dubbed the "Sinking Unlucky Boat," for their flagrant disregard for the very lifeblood of their enterprise – the customer. We shall return to the welcoming embrace of the superior takeaways in Kent, where service and satisfaction are held in the highest esteem. Beware, fellow gastronomes, of the treacherous waters surrounding the Sinking Unlucky Boat in Cairns, for they shall lead you only to disappointment and despair.

Easy online ordering, however it took about 1 hour 20 minutes for my order to arrive! I put the order in just after 6pm mid week so I wouldn't expect it to be crazily busy. The food itself was good apart from the crispy squid, which whilst the batter was fine, the squid itself was a bit on the tough side (but it's a new dish and perhaps it will be refined as they go).

First time ordering from here, delivered before due time, bonus. Delivery man was friendly and smiley, bonus. The food was hot and absolutely top notch, I ordered a pancake roll, chicken balls and was amazed that the batter on both was crispy and thin, no fat...absolute bonus, best takeaway I've had in a while.

Yesterday was the first time I've ordered from Lucky Boat. I am not a regular takeaway orderer and usually use another local Chinese BUT they do not deliver. So, I took the plunge. I ordered online (simple to use website) and the email came through to confirm how long the wait time was. To the minute, the delivery was here. And it was delicious! I will definitely be ordering from Lucky Boat again!

First time trying wasn't that impressed core dishes were good but starter seemed like it had been left and anything battered was soft. Three stars because it was first night of lock down there for maybe they were very busy.

Very disappointed tonight. Waited at least an hour for our food for it to actually come and they had missed half of our order. When we rung up to complain, the lady on the phone had no empathy and told us that even though we’d already paid, we would have to pay again and wait again for the rest of our order.

Having just moved to the area, we thought we'd try out Lucky Boat when we walked past during the day and their takeaway menus were outside to take. We ordered over the phone for collection and the phone line was clear (some takeaways can be terrible to communicate with over the phone!) and the service was really good. Collection was prompt and socially distanced with a 'one customer inside at a time' rule. Our order was correct and the food was delicious. The chicken in the chow mein was moist, not dry, and the crispy chilli beef was actually crispy and not stodgy like other places - I ate the entire portion! My only criticism is that the pot of curry sauce we got was a little small, but it was perfect chip-shop-curry sauce! Prices were no higher than you'd expect for a regular takeaway and we'll definitely be ordering from here whenever we want Chinese again!

This evening we had a family get together to celebrate a birthday (first since the lockdown began) we ordered food from the lucky boat. Once we gave them our order, we realised the price they gave us didn’t add up correctly. When we contacted them to let them know, they responded very rudely insisting we were in the wrong and the food was already on its way, so we had to pay for the error made by them. When we said we were disappointed with the service and would not be using them again, they responded with “ok bye then”. When the food arrived we received items that we didn’t order, so we ended up paying an extra £18. Completely understand that mistakes happen but the way it was handled was appalling.

Had a meal delivered tonight from lucky boat, I must admit we normally use wok express but they don’t deliver so thought we’d try these.But it turned out to not taste what I was hoping it would taste like. Very dissatisfied with the whole £30 meal. BBQ ribs were in a sauce which looked and tasted like gravy granules and very salty yuk, egg fried rice yuk, plain chow main noodles salty yuk, even our 2yr old granddaughter turned her nose up at it, Special fried rice well I’m not sure what was special about it , the only thing my husband and son said was half palette-able was the Crispy sweet chilli chicken and beef that was ordered by them. So I’m sorry to say if you like bland and salty food and would like to throw your hard earned cash in the bin then order your meal from here. Because we will not be having another meal from this Chinese.

Had a chicken curry with no chicken and they was very unhelpful when I called them. I had already poured it over my chips and chicken rice when I realised when my husband asked why I had ordered a mushroom curry. I called them to tell them of mistake and told them and to make life easier suggested I had free delivery the next time. She said they could not do that they would need to collect the curry and replace it... already on our plates and what about rest of dinner going cold even if I hadn’t... no common sense and extremely unhelpful when they had ruined our meal!!,,, will not use again sadly

Was absolutely disgusting. Rice was cold and unfried. The curry was foul. The chow mein i put half a bottle of soy sauce on to make it palatable and it was just a bad. I called up to complain and she demanded i pack the meal up and bring it back and get a refund. No apology no form of compensation. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS OFCOURSE YOU WANT SALMONELLA

We've had food from here twice and both times it was delicious and both times the order was wrong. The first time we ended up with beef with oyster sauce and not the chicken with oyster sauce we ordered. That was so nice we ordered it as beef the second time but our chicken chow mein was wrong and we ended up with Singapore chow mein which is spicy and only one person could eat it. It's a shame as we love it when it's what we order but thats a poor record and I'll be checking in there before I leave from now on. The lady even read out my order so it was a kitchen error.

After reading the positive reviews I thought I'd try this out but the food was really bland, had little flavour and all the dishes we bought tasted the same as each other.

Bloody joke of a service went in and orderd waited a hour for food and no apologies or anything. When I asked why taking so long they had no idea why!

I'm not sure if it is because they havent got a great chef or just because we are camping and got our delivery to the camp site (which cost £3 to deliver BTW, despite the fact we are in calne and the receipt says mileage as 0.01 and the menu says free delivery).... Anyway, the ribs were cut into inch pieces and not chilli as described, the seaweed came in a tiny pot about the size of a sauce pot (£3.80!!!!!) and far too much salt, chow mein was watery and flavourless, the prawn balls were overcooked....All in all not good. Would not order again and definitely don't order if you are camping.... 🤢

Been living just outside calne for 4/5 yrs and been using lucky boat all that time. Because we are a couple of miles out of calne we paid £3 delivery and always tipped the driver. Phoned tonight for a delivery and they have tried to put delivery charge up to £5. Questioned them on the increase and after a few minutes they agreed to waver the increase. Unfortunately to late they have no respect for regular customers will never use these again.

We've been ordering Chinese take away from here for nearly 10 years. It's fantastic and the staff are always so friendly. Definitely the best place to go in this area.

Went to the takeaway and ordered The food took about 25 minutes which was okay, but boarding on taking a bit too longWas it worth the wait?Yes and no...... there was no real distinction between the dishes as not strong flavours which was odd considering it’s Cantonese.Sweet and Sour Hong Kong style had too much batter coating and was nearly like a normal pork ball and the S&S sauce was a little thin.The crispy beef was okay but again a little bland with no added garlic or spring onion, which is typical of the dish in most restaurants.As I’m new to the area I think I will try the others .........

We moved to the area 3 years ago and have visited most of the Chinese takeaways in town. This one far exceeds the others by far! The food is always fresh and very hot. Delivered or ready for collection in reasonable time scales (even on busy nights!)

Been using Lucky Boat since moving here, and having tried all the Chinese take-aways in the surrounding area I can say with certainty that this is by far the best. The food is not over priced, but is outstandingly good. The service is lovely, the family that run it are all so polite and remember regulars. Absolute 10/10 on all marks.

Have used once before and wasn't over joyed with the food, thought I should try it again hoping may be better. The service and quickness is 100%, but the food was very bland. Satay chicken was watery and the spicy chicken wings, were just normal breaded wings with no chilli to be seen, the Szechuan vegetables were not spicy either and had to add spices to it for it to be palatable. They are the only Chinese open on Sundays which is a disappointment as I would of gone somewhere else.

Been using the Lucky boat for 3 years now! We came across it as no other chines would deliver in Lyneham (the one in lyneham is awful!!) and now moved to Calne 3 years later and were still using the Lucky Boat

I dn't mind the food, however, it doesn't fill me with joyous anticipation when thinking about ordering either. There are better Chinese take-aways in Calne which are also cheaper. My Husband's Beef in Black Bean Sauce was chewy and inedible but the rest of the meal was passable. I would only order again if other places were closed and will avoid anything made with beef!

We've only lived in Calne for 9 months and i have to say this is probably the nicest chinese takeaway we have found so far in Wiltshire. The food is always quick, fresh and hot, and the staff are all very friendly. Definitely recommend to anyone

We tried this takeaway as we couldn't be bothered to cook and the order was taken well and delivered in good time. I always have the same Chinese meals and this was on a par with the other Chinese restaurants in Calne. Great if you want your tea delivered, would use again.

This is a tough one to review... I want to use the phase 'the best of a bad bunch' which may be a little bit harsh but there are no decent chinese takeaways in calne. This one is ok. Nice phone manor, fast delivery but the menu is uninspiring and each dish pretty much tastes the same. I don't believe it's freshly cooked, this is evident through how quickly it's delivered and also the meat whether chicken, pork or beef tends to be on the chewy side. A shame as I believe this chinese is capable of a lot more.

Quick friendly service and delivery to the campsite we were staying at.The food was just Ok I have had better Chicken and black bean definitely has a kick to it!For some reason they seemed to want to batter everything so be warned if your not a fan of having your ribs and king prawns in batter....it doesn't state it on the menus but sweet n sour king prawns were I think battered or covered in something thick.Spare ribs were the worst I've ever tasted, at first we couldn't decide if they had mixed up the order and sent battered chicken, after a bit of investigating they were actually small spare ribs, I had ordered the chilli seasoned which were in batter (no mention of this on the menu)

Ordering for four people, nice food generally, blackbean sauce needs more punch and free prawn crackers would of been nice touch as others do. Would order again from there but will try others first to compare.

Went to lucky boat after hearing that it was the best in calne. Although the food was good it was no better than others in the area but it was definately more expensive. Will not be using it again.
