We’ve traveled over 600 miles from Shetland to see family. We always go here for a meal when we come down to Calne It’s the best Italian restaurant we’ve ever eaten in the food is fantastic The staff are great . So if you’re ever in Calne you must stop and eat there .

We took our two grandsons to this restaurant for pizza night . We all ordered Pizzas my wife was served with the wrong type one of my grandsons aged 7 with an adult size Pizza . In my opinion the quality of the Pizza was very poor with with a half cooked soggy doughy base. I should heave really sent them all back but the restaurant was very busy and we would have had another long wait Add to that the beer I ordered (Peroni) was at room temperature . On the basis of this visit if this restaurant was in Italy (a country I love and have visited many times in the past) they would not be in business for long. I want to support local businesses but will not be returning to this establishment.

Eaten here 2 nights in a row, cannot praise it enough. Calzoni was best I've had in 20 years. Carbonate tonight was amazing

Lovely meal to celebrate a friend's birthday. 9 of us in all, we had pizzas, risottos, lasagnas, plenty of drinks (house red was very quaffable), Panna cotta and gelatos. Excellent food, first class service too.

Went here for a Birthday meal,it was very enjoyable from start to finish,the food was delicious all cooked to perfection in the authentic Italian style.The menu had a lot to choose from with a very wide variety of lovely dishes.All the staff we’re very nice and made you all feel welcome.With a nice friendly relaxed atmosphere,it was very busy as it has become a very popular restaurant in the town of Calne in Wiltshire.will definitely go back to sample some more of this lovey Italian food.I can highly recommend this restaurant,booking is essential..... We visited here again for another Birthday meal on the 07/06/24 again it was first class Italian food with excellent service delivered by the lovely staff....👍

Just had the most amazing meal, and the service was great!

First time ordering from Antica Roma.. and all I can say is wow! Absolutely fantastic staff, very welcoming and accommodating, the restaurant is very well furnished with a warm wood setting throughout.. the food was amazing!! I ordered a vast amount of pizza and pasta and I can say it was thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome and the delicious food! I will definitely be back in the near future. If you haven't tried food from Antica Roma yet.. you're missing out on an amazing experience! 👏🙌

I went here with two friends on Monday lunchtime and I can highly recommend this lovely restaurant. The food was excellent along with the service will definitely be going back

Having not visited Antica for a while it was such a pleasant surprise to see the old faces back in charge. Even though we hadn't booked we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. We had the calamari and whitebait starters which were hot and delicious. The chef was happy to make a pizza to our individual needs which was perfectly cooked with those nice crispy stone baked edges, all washed down with a great bottle of red wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, Vladi and his team made us (Mr & Mrs Valentino :)) very welcome and we will definitely be returning soon. It's great to have a such a high quality restaurant in the town.

Lovely Italian restaurant with seating over 2 floors and plenty of local paid for parking. The welcome was warm staff friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The food quality was very high, portion sizes generous and prices reasonable, especially given the quality. The wine list was also well worth a visit!!

What a great evening, food, atmosphere and staff were absolutely fantastic, taking the time to interact with our group, all singing Happy Birthday to one of the group. Amazing gluten free pizza! Home made and safe for coealics please keep making these home made gluten free pizza they mean a lot to people like myself who are coealics and can now enjoy yummy Italian meals without missing out. Thoroughly recommend 😋

Italian atmospher, very good meals, a nice moment

The service here is excellent! The ambience is noisy, very noisy. Vegetables and salad are very good. The pizza, sadly, isn't great. Could really use better dough. I can't comment on the pasta but they looked very nice when they went past. It's just the pizza that lets it down.

Amazing food again, staff very friendly and accommodating regular monthly family night meal. Very reasonably priced.

Excellent meal & atmosphere & service.

Well we have revisited Antica Roma today, for the first time in a while. Unfortunately, a while ago we were disappointed in the standard of food and service, so decided not to go there. We have recently noticed more positive reviews and comments. Particularly about past staff members being there again, and past chefs returning. We received a very hearty welcome from one of the head waiters that we used to see there regularly. Our meal was amazing. They have a new lunch time menu which is excellent value. We are so pleased that this little gem in Calne has returned to its former glory. Thanks to all involved today that made our return well worth it.

Simple and delicious Italian food presented beautifully and delivered by friendly and attentive staff. Authentic Italian atmosphere and feel to the restaurant.

Just ordered 3 pizza's to take away. All freshly cooked and just as delicious and authentic as when we enjoy them in the restaurant. The service was prompt, professional and as friendly as always. Looking forward to returning to our local Italian for a family get together when it can re-open.

Went with friends for pre-pub quiz dinner! The welcome, the service and the menu choices all excellent. I had the best prawn risotto ever! Our group of 7 highly recommend this gem in Calne

Our first visit for a family meal and we had a lovely time. The service was great, the staff friendly and helpful and the food delicious. We only had mains due to time constraints but everything arrived together. Would definitely go there again!

Fantastic food and service. Our second visit and we'll be back again. We went midweek, sometimes this means slower service, but absolutely not the case here. Attentive staff and quick service. The restaurant is set out so you don't feel you are crammed in, lovely atmosphere and not too loud. Which is great as we have an autistic child, it must be good as he wants to go back again!

Delicious meal with my parents, delicious and succulent prawns starter followed by chicken mains. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal/evening, would definitely recommend!!

A superb birthday dinner for my wife with the family. The food was excellent and very tasty. We particularly enjoyed the sharing platter starters. Considering there was seven of us the service was efficient, not rushed and friendly.

So friendly and accommodating; great service and the food was delicious. We had the Antipasta Misto as a sharing starter; followed by Risotto de Mare for me and my wife had Cozze (fresh mussels) from the starter menu as a main dish. It was all amazing.

Last night I booked a table for 4 people. The restaurant was very busy and had a very good vibe inside. One of the waiter paulino was very helpful and was very quick to take our orders. The food was delicious and it was made very quickly. Would highly 100% recommend

Paulino and Valentino were excellent. The service here is beyond 5 stars. I didn’t know what to expect with the food but I was so pleased with my meal I ate the whole lot and ordered dessert! They were so attentive with drink refills and there was no delay at any point. The restaurant itself is very relaxing and beautiful and we had an amazing experience. Would 100% recommend. Could not find any fault with this establishment.

Been to antica roma for many birthdays and meals over the years and it never disappoints ! Very friendly staff, quick to take the order and usually very quick to recieve food as well. My family love the pizzas, omelette and steaks there but everytime I've tried has been incredible! 100% recommend to everyone

Great all round Italian restaurant

We were there for the first time today and are very pleased with them. Friendly staff with great service helped my a little naughty kids beautifully and my wife and I enjoyed their food. Proper Italian food freshly made and so yummy. We are looking forward to go there soon again!

Nice, friendly place with good Italian food.

The start of our experience was seeing one of the servers outside smoking and then blowing his nose and wiping it down his trousers, he was not one of the chefs so we still ventured in. We ordered a starter to share which was supposed to be bruschetta bread topped with a melted Italian cheese, tomatoes and balsamic vinegar, it was bland, tasted like cheap cream cheese, had one half of sliced cherry tomato on each slice, it was barely toasted and there was no balsamic vinegar to be seen. We did not eat all of this and fed back that it was tasteless and bland, they did offer to replace but we declined and waited for our mains. Whilst waiting we heard another customer calling the waiter after discovering plastic in her meal, the young and clearly inexperienced waitress took it away after offering to replace and returned a few minutes later stating that she had spoken with the chef who said ‘we don’t have that type of plastic in our kitchen’ this shocked us and did not fill us with much hope about our mains yet to be served. Eventually our main meals arrived but it was nothing like it was described on the menu, spicy Italian sausage was more like a chopped up hot dog, pasta was burnt where it had clearly been under a grill for too long to melt the cheese and the general taste was tangy and not right. We quickly called an end to our evening returning the main dish and advising that we would not be paying for the starter or my main, we asked for my partners pizza to be boxed up and agreed to share it later as we had seen enough. There was no argument over not paying which indicated that they were not at all surprised. Avoid not a good experience

First time there and sadly the last. I was so cold I had to wrap my coat around my legs the whole time. My starter was lovely but my main was awful sooo salty I couldn’t eat it. Very disappointed.

Always excellent food and service

Authentic look and feel of a typical central Italian restaurant, tasteful decor, polite friendly staff, comfortable furniture, quick efficient service, a good cross selection on the menu, food is well prepared and presented, quite tasteful and tasty. Wine selection isn't too bad, nothing too strong to overpower the food, just the usual suspects. Overall a very pleasant experience, not the run of the mill, microwaved, mass produced produce but a genuinely thoughtful, well delivered dining experience. Returned with friends and family at different times of the day and midweek as opposed to the weekend and can say that the food and service remains consistently good. Very happy to return (if my waistline allows) and happy to recommend as a good place for a pleasant meal whether as a family or a party

An amazing place being there with my family on Saturday evening. The restaurant was so busy food was lovely we all had different dishes and the service was nice and quick. I will definitely recommend it to everybody stuff, was so friendly Can’t wait to go back again⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The place is interesting, well located and decorated. The staff was very friendly and the service was as expected. The food is good, high quality. I was expecting more Italian flavors in my dish. Nevertheless the tasty was good. Drink options available are rich. If you are nearby, suggest to have your own experience at this place, worth it.

Staff were polite when we entered but as we were seated they seemed to be too busy to even serve us water. We waited around 15 minutes before given plates and a drink. Sorry, but the lasagna was one of the worst I’ve had—it was bland and the sauce was too watery. The chef special pizza was incredibly average…. Cubes of ham were far too large and the pizza lacked any depth of flavor.

Dropped in for an inpromptu lunch, the food was authentic & delicious. The service was friendly and engaging without being intrusive. As always a great dining experience and by far our favourite place to go!

We had a lovely dinner here with friends. Great food but not too many vegetarian mains options but we had Four Cheese Pizza and Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni and both dishes were lovely and plentiful. Our friend has ‘Pollo Dolce Latte’ and she said ‘it was excellent and very tasty’. We’ve visited several times now and the food is always amazing. The creamy mushroom starter is absolutely amazing and the pizzas are delicious (and huge). Staff are always helpful. Can’t fault it.

I've lived in Calne for a long time and remember when this used to be the HSBC bank - what a change! For all those who are unsure, this is a proper bonafide family run Italian restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, tastefully decorated. We visited for the first time on a Tuesday night and it was packed! The only thing thing that let them down was a slightly slower service due to the number of covers. Great for families, couples and groups. We'll definitely be back!

Delicious, authentic home cooking. Brilliant and attentive service. A quiet atmosphere with some low volume Italian pop music which really sets the tone.

We stopped in Calne to see if we could find anything for dinner. This looked like a good bet and it certainly was! The food was fabulous and the staff were friendly. The meals arrived very quickly and the atmosphere was lovely.

An absolute gem of a place. My mates and I were in calne and saw this spot for dinner. So glad we walked in. Place is beautiful, food is top notch. Wish I took a pic! If I'm in calne again I'll definitely be visiting.

As Italian I can't give 5 stars to Antica Roma, mainly because of topping ingredients. I was expecting to get traditional sliced ham (not diced ham), traditional "salame piccante" (not pepperoni) and traditional spicy sausage. The dough was good. I understand pizzas are adapted to the taste of locals, but the use of traditional quality ingredients should not be forgotten. Also, the bread of some of our bruschettas was burned. The service was good and we didn't wait much to get our courses.

I strongly recommend you give this restaurant in Calne a try. Excellent food, friendly efficient service, nice atmosphere, good value - we were here early evening on a Thursday so not too busy - advised to book at weekends.

Been several times, pizza is brilliant, so much better than your fast food/ delivery places (you know who I mean). However, try the pasta dishes as these are the winners here.

Seems a nice place but as per usual with all italian restaurants, unfortunately they just seem to offer one type of gluten free pasta which they replace for all dishes.. Come on guys update, you can get any type ofpasta nowadays gf, it's not fresh, it keeps for ages and you charge us enough extra to buy the packet anyways.. there's no excuse anymore not to provide variety! Sainsburys liguine is nice you could use that..
