Seemed like a good idea to hold an evening surprise for my wife in our local.
I started as a meal for family and a simple birthday cake !!
we ended up with a full blown do with ballons, place names (mini penguins) and a rather large cake in the shape of a penguin (we ended up sharing the cake with the whole pub and still took some home).
fortunatley a member of the pubs familly is a professional cake maker (thanks Kay).
We used to go there for our Saturday Coffee, thinking that the place needed frequenting. They never re-opened the cafe after the lockdown, which is a shamel
Excellent Sunday roast. The meat was so tender! Delicious pudding apple and mixed berries pie with custard. The staff went above and beyond as they were busy. Would highly recommend a visit to this pub. Thank you for fitting us in it was so appreciated. We will see you again in June! Many thanks.
Can't fault my stay from start to finish. All the staff are fabulous and two staff members went above and beyond to make my stay very special they are Tracey Buckingham and Bradley Davison. I will definitely return. My only problem is I couldn't review via QR code it has taken me 30 minutes to find somewhere to write this review which is why I've only given 4 stars overall. Please sort this problem out.
Thankyou for a lovely stay

fresh,hot, and jucy chicken
Drive through and have no signs on the main road at Dorchester Roundabout.
Although we’re locals the Vinny is also a perfect stopover on A35 being 200m from the Puddletown junction. Martin has transformed the pub recently and the interesting menu extremely good value. Young staff need time to learn their trade and service is now less hesitant- Sunday lunchtime and live music make for busy sessions at most pubs so some may choose to go then, or conversely choose to avoid.
I’d highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed. Altogether a bit quirky, but all the more special for that reason. Enjoy it for what it is.
We were back in West Bay for a pre-Easter week-end and after visiting one or two of the pubs/restaurant for lunch decided to visit The West Bay Hotel for Sunday lunch. The welcome from the staff was as expected, still warm and friendly and a very good atmosphere. The roast menu was varied, not expensive, well cooked and certainly value for money. The availability of small plated roast dinner was very welcome for those with smaller appetite. Customers can park fee in the car-park opposite, giving their vehicle registration at the bar. We also visited a couple of evenings for early evening drinks. We would have eaten on these occasions but the kitchen still did not open to 5:50. We would still recommend.
Probably worst tasting lamb shish kebab I've ever eaten. Ordered small one, however did not expected 4 tiny pieces of chewy, salty "fat". Not sure if I even had a tablespoon of meat in that meal. Fries were decent though.
I was unaware that the Pub was not actually open. Just the b and b. So instead of a lovely meal and drink in the Pub we stayed in which was my intention we had to get in the car and go out (moving the barrier across the car park to get out.) £105 outrageous price for 'Deluxe room'. which was basically a big room with a noisy fridge in it. Though it was very clean and comfortable. I received an email saying the pub was shut on the day I went on holiday to Cornwallm so didn't see it. Nowhere on there website does it say it's closed.
What a lovely experience. Joan and I with grandson Edward, down on the Jurassic Coast looking for fossils, successfully. The hotel was magnificent. Welcomed by a New Zealander, who couldn't do enough for us. Parking included, a bonus. The family room ultra comfortable. Dinner, choosing from the daily specials board, a revelation. The quality of the cooking, perfect. Breakfast can only be described by Edward, amazing. Fresh fruit with yoghurt, croissant, full English or other choice, fruit juice, tea, coffee or Edward's hot chocolate. Truly fantastic. All of the staff so attentive. Cannot say thank you enough.

Disappointing.
Incurs hidden charges for dogs to stay.
I had checked the website and rung up to confirm dogs were allowed in rooms and for any extra charges, none were mentioned. I happily booked and paid for the room, only to receive an email stating each dog would be an extra £10. Normally I don’t mind paying extra for my dog, but the fact that they didn’t state this on their website (room said ‘pets welcome’ at point of booking, no extra charge) and i had asked over the phone about the dogs they did not declare the charges. We cannot cancel because of 2 day cancellation policy, so are now forced to pay undeclared £10 fee per dog or loose our £60 room payment. Really unprofessional and bad management. Again, normally I am happy to pay for pets when I stay as long as they are clear and upfront about charges.
Late afternoon lunch after visiting Abbotsbury swannery on a spring Sunday, lovely home cooked food and drinks. Super friendly and welcoming staff. It was a perfect day out
