Been here a few times now, once in the summer at night, once for a late morning coffee and cake and yesterday for lunch. Each time we have been we have had a warm welcome. The food has been really good at really reasonable prices.
Highly recommend.
The Giant is our go to pub - they do everything very well. You always get a warm welcome, service is friendly, beer is local and well kept and the food is excellent - pub grub + and its good value for money too. Highly recommended.
Our third visit with a group of friends who we meet up with every four weeks or so. Excellent food again, very efficient and pleasant service and very reasonably priced with good variety. Lighter meal deal amazing with main, dessert and tea or coffee. Consistent food too which is very important. We will continue going there on our next meet too. Cannot praise it highly enough.
I absolutely love visiting this restaurant, the staff are so friendly and quick to serve you. I was welcomed by a lovely chap who sat us down and served us drinks and food before the restaurant had even officially opened! (We didn’t check the times but just walked in whilst it was still takeaway only without realising) The food is absolutely fantastic, tasty and well portioned! I’d love to see this restaurant get more business! They deserve it ☺️ please, if you’re in the area and hungry, give this lovely place a go!
We came here for my Mums 90th Birthday celebration. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They made us feel so welcome and were very accommodating! The food was lovely too. I would definitely recommend The Pilot Boat
Our second visit to The Saxon Arms. The last was at Christmas for a larger crowd. We had taken a last minute decision to have a Sunday Roast quite late in the day. We phoned and were told there was space for two. We chose the Sunday roast with "For the table" selection of pigs in blanket, cauliflower cheese, extra roast potatoes and stuffing along with an additional gravy boat.
The meal arrived with with an appropriate wait and it was delicious. My partner and I slowed our talking to make our way through the wonderfully prepared and presented dish.
The meat was wonderfully cooked, the veg were well prepared and the roasting were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
The service was very good without being over attentive. We didn't try desserts because we were full.
Highly recommended.
Been to Lucianos (Luccios? Carluccios??) a couple of times in the last year and it's a decent place for Italian.
The food has been great, with a decent pizza, fantastic beef ragu, and the best carbonara I've graced my tastebuds with the second time. I cannot stress enough, the food is FANTASTIC. Portions could do with a little more, but what I've got thus far has tasted lovely.
Both times I've come in the place has been eerily quiet, so either something's up with my timing or the place is just... quiet? Regardless, the service has been timely, albeit mild-mannered, both times which isn't an issue at all. There is a 12.5% service charge stuck on as a heads-up, which you'll find in tiny text at the bottom of the menu. Not a fan of that trend as a whole, as I'd much rather tip good service and good food where it's due.
My only complaints are the pricing (which is *STEEP*, especially for Dorset at £50+ for dinner for two) and the fact they took beef ragu off the menu - it was a fantastic dish and taking it off the menu is a crime against humanity. Bring it back!
Either way, Luciano's food is fantastic, on the proviso that you aren't the person paying for it... But I don't know if that says more about myself or the restaurant. If the staff were a bit chattier and the British economy wasn't doing an impression of the Titanic (or things were a bit cheaper), I'd give five stars.
My husband and I recently had a 3 night stay at the New Inn with our disabled Dachshund. Annette and Julian were the perfect hosts and we couldn’t have found a better place to stay!
Our room was in the original part of the building on the ground floor, it was a large room and beautifully furnished with good water pressure in the shower.
All of the food was excellent and we ended up eating in the pub on all 3 nights of our stay. All of the staff were polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
We would highly recommend the New Inn and will definitely be returning
Probably worst tasting lamb shish kebab I've ever eaten. Ordered small one, however did not expected 4 tiny pieces of chewy, salty "fat". Not sure if I even had a tablespoon of meat in that meal. Fries were decent though.
