I absolutely love visiting this restaurant, the staff are so friendly and quick to serve you. I was welcomed by a lovely chap who sat us down and served us drinks and food before the restaurant had even officially opened! (We didn’t check the times but just walked in whilst it was still takeaway only without realising) The food is absolutely fantastic, tasty and well portioned! I’d love to see this restaurant get more business! They deserve it ☺️ please, if you’re in the area and hungry, give this lovely place a go!

I really liked it good quality and excellent friendly service will be back. My roast pork curry was ace. Being on the duel carrageway makes it unusual

This used to be a good place to go but the prices have risen and the quality of the ingredients used has deteriorated. The chicken tastes of chlorine which is not a good sign. Also it is freezing cold in the restaurant. The owner does not seem to understand that eating out should be in an enjoyable and comfortable atmosphere.

Ordered a takeaway it took 2 hours to arrive had to call twice only to be told the second time they had lost the ticket. We have been customers for over 20 years, not sure hat has happened to this place but we won’t be ordering for here again. The portion sizes and quality of the food and ingredients has dropped significantly. The squid was over cooked and like hard tyre rubber and everything smelt like it had been fried in the same dirty pan.

We’ve ordered Fortune Palace takeaways from time to time over the last ten years or so. Quality has always a been a bit hit and miss, but when on target, dishes can be really appetizing and agreeable. However, yesterday evening’s takeaway was truly dire. The BBQ’d spare ribs were dry, of poor quality, with far too much fat, and the BBQ sauce was insipid and thin. The Cantonese sweet-and-sour prawns were soggy and overcooked, and drowned in a glutinous orange gunge. The duck with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts was a disaster -- bland, overcooked meat chunks mixed with heaps of unappetizing yellow lumps, with almost no juice. To top it off, the egg-fried rice had the consistency of wet cardboard, as though it had been cooked weeks earlier and left in a hot cabinet. Of course, the perennial problem for us with a duff takeaway is that returning it to complain means a round trip of 20 miles or so. I suspect a lot of such establishments are well aware of this and are tempted to skimp on quality as a result. The Fortune Palace appears to be under new management. If so, they’ve an awful lot to learn. If not, the existing team is failing badly. Either way, we won't be back.

over 26 years this place provides exceptional high quality, consistently delicious food- we usually take away, and they are prompt and efficient.

Absolutely awful service missed at least 4 dishes off our order waited over 1 1/2 hours for mains AVOID this place if you want to be filled up

An excellent menu, and the food quality is superb. The proprietor is absolutely charming, and treats you with great respect - perfect service and a hospitable atmosphere. Busy over the weekend, I understand and not open on Tuesdays.

Sadly we’ve been here before and it was ‘ok’ but unfortunately this time it was awful. Not only were several items missed off the order, but food came out at really awful times (main courses a good 15 mins before rice) and the woman serving was argumentative, aggressive and honestly quite clueless. One dish came and was slammed on the table and when asked what it was, the answer was ‘beef and something’. It took 40 mins for our order to be taken as apparently the manager wanted to take the order personally, and the lady serving was rude, dismissive and obviously couldn’t care less about customers. As a local business we would love to support, but will definitely not be returning. Avoid.

We used to go here a lot, however Hadn’t been in so long and wow has it gone down hill. Service is awful, supposed to be an all you can eat buffet but after a selection of starters we were told we Could not have any more and only allowed mains. Portion sizes were small, we asked for satay skewers for 5 people but Only 3 came out. Overpriced for poor service and mediocre food., older Lady who was Serving us was rude and very unwelcoming. Would not return again.

The food here is always great, it is my favourite Chinese food restaurant in Dorset/ Somerset. Good value. The owner and his family are great. However, really disappointed this time to see the restaurant dirty with dust and cobwebs and chipped plates. Fizzy drinks were not fizzy. I hope it improves as I will be back.

Dissapointed with a sunday night meal. Restaurant quite cold, starters were lovely , but very dissapointed with mains , Poor quality of chicken in satay sauce , no nice chunky breast , just grey tasteless chicken. Ordered crispy beef, but was everything but crispy , chewy and soggy. Staff nice , but sorry , poor ingredients , we wont be returning.

We decided to give this place a go because friends said how good it was. Have to say what a surprise - from the lady that served us and the whole restaurant with amazing efficiency. Sorry for asking for satay sauce when you had 29 jobs to do. The food quality was top shelf as was the speed and the quality. This place really is a hidden gem and really can’t wait to eat here again…11/10

Have not used the Fortune Palace for a long time due to the poor quality of the food. Decided to give it another try recently & very glad we did. our Takeaway orders have been excellent & service very good. I understand it has been under new owners for a while now & it certainly shows. At last a great Chinese restaurant close to home. Can certainly recommend.

Have been coming to the Fortune Palace for dinner for years, we are regulars here (once a month) and always eat in. We like the staff and the calm attentive service. The food is always well prepared, we have the set buffet menu choosing from the sheet. Portions are generous and the Chinese flavours are always excellent, in particular the sweet and sour chicken. No other Chinese restaurant matches this place - for us it ticks all the boxes and we always enjoy eating here.

Stayed at chetnole and ordered from this restaurant to pick up. Took 15mins to get there but we'll worth it. Food amazing, would recommend.

We’ve ordered from Fortune Palace on several occasions, and never had a problem!! Sadly, this time we waited 2 hours for our food, we had to phone after an hour to be told the traffic was bad because of an accident! However, on our sat nav it read 5mins! Had to phone back again after an hour and a half, told it was on way.. Yet it was 2 hours before it arrive - and was cold! No communication, no apology!!

Got to be the worst Chinese meal I have ever eaten. Curry sauce is watery with no flavour . Hardly any duck in the spring rolls . Only thing was ok was chips

This is simply the best Chinese’s food I have ever tasted it’s that yummy. My so loves the place and he is always nagging me to take him here. The all you can eat menu is fabulous and the service equally as good. Give it a try I guarantee you won’t be disappointed

The food wasn't bad, half of it was very tasty. Disappointed that the duck wasn't shredded at the table (my favourite part usually), that made it dry and not very hot. All of the food seemed to go cold very quickly so that was a shame. Service was ok, just felt a bit rushed

We ordered a takeaway whilst on holiday. The quality of the food was poor. I definitely wouldn’t order again. Very little meat on the ribs terrible bbq sauce. The crispy prawns wontons were a joke all crisp and no prawns. The rice wasn’t even nice....

Excellent food, crispy duck amazing, prawn wontons great, lemon chicken crispy and delicious, salt and pepper chilli prawns were knockout. It's a shame we are not local, as we would be back in a heartbeat. Don't let the exterior put you off coming to this...

Had Sunday lunch here, billed as buffet. We had a la carte but all the food was freshly cooked & everything we had was delicious. We can’t recommend it highly enough. Shame it’s only open for lunch one day a week but well worth visiting.

Delivery ordered the 8th of July and the more amazing Chinese food we have ever had . We ordered 11 different dishes and all of them have a rate 10 /10, tasty, fresh, just delicious. You gained a client today, what a nice birthday dinner.

Driving home from Yeovil and found the Fortune Palace on the A30 open again at last! We arrived on spec without a booking and were squeezed in. The restaurant was very busy for both sitting in and take away. We have been coming to this...

It wasn’t amazing, the duck pancakes and chicken skewers, not a problem but unfortunately the chilli beef and the salt & pepper chicken wasn’t nice. I love Chinese and have had it from many takeaways but this was just inedible.

We visited this establishment for a family meal.Even though the restaurant was fairly busy, we were served very quickly and the food arrived soon after we had placed our order.All the food was very tasty, hot and well presented.All in all, a great experience and I would recommend their cuisine wholeheartedly.

We booked a table this evening for 6pm online, when we arrived we were pointed to our table from the staff behind the bar. We then sat at the table for 25 minutes, without anyone taking a drinks order or even acknowledging us. We at this point left. As we were leaving I said to the staff that we would leave it and he said ok mate ‍♂️ we will never return 2minutes

Last time I had a takeaway here it was really nice. And have had meals In The restaurant which have been nice. But this evening the food we ordered was really sub-par. The "hot" salt and pepper squid had no kick and was soggy. (even my girlfriend said it wasn't spicy and she can't handle anything!) but everything else we had was really bland.... We were both quite dissapointed this evening. :(

My wife and I visited this restaurant tonight and were very disappointed with the experience. The food was very bland and tasteless, the plates were cold and the dishes the food was served up in also lost their heat quickly. The serviettes were very thin and cheap paper as opposed quality linen. The water wasn’t cold and had no ice in the jug despite it being a very warm evening. Staff seemed disinterested, we were not offered a suite and after asking for the bill, instead of them bringing the card terminal to the table, we had to walk to the till to pay.

Arrived early,first impression was good. Waiter very pleasant. Disappointed that the Buffet menu was very limited. On the web site it gives idea that all on main menu is also Buffet menu!. We thought the food was very plain, certainly not as good as other restaurants.

I have visited The Fortune Palace a couple a times recently for family celebrations and although the restaurant has never been busy, the food has been excellent. We have never been kept waiting with quick and efficient service.In our economy, lots of businesses in the food industry must be struggling and I can understand how the owners of The Fortune Palace can be disappointed when some customers order too much food on the “all you can eat” menu only for it just to go to waste.Keep up the good work - I will be coming back for another meal with a group of friends very soon and am happy to support your restaurant.

We have heard about this place from a few people and wanted to give this a try! The buffet doesn’t work for everyone because you get charged £3 per plate for what doesn’t get eaten which I don’t think I overly agree with. Other than that the food was amazing, the service was good and we will all most definitely be back. What a lovely place, thank you!

My first thought was a little restaurant near a main road selling cars outside possibly ? Wasn’t entirely sure by the outside what the take away was going to be like.I had a screw it moment which sort of surprised me, the food was actually pretty good as Chinese take aways go everything was cooked well and had good flavour.Take a chance on it if your ever in need of a Chinese nearby the pricing is pretty good too for what you get.

4 of us visited the Fortune Palace for the first time, restaurant had no record of our on line confirmed Saturday night booking however ‘found’ us a table in their practically empty dining room. We all ordered the £19.99 per person all you can eat buffet so after a mixed selection of starters we then chose 2 dishes each plus rice & noodles to share for the main meal.

Returned to our old favourite the Fortune Palace along the A30. A treat for Valentines Day. Telephoned lunchtime to book a table however hesitated as to whether they could fit us in and arriving at 6.30 pm, however took the booking.

Ordered a home delivery this evening just before 6pm took over a hour for delivery, all the food was Luke warm, the crispy beef was tough and stuck together in a heap (we had to blast 5 out of the 6 dishes ordered in the microwave) .

We have visited the Fortune Palace on many occasions since 2012 and generally pleased with the overall experience simply because the owners and chef are well aware of our Vegan diet and are very particular that they get it right.

Very poor - walked in on a Sunday evening only one other table in. Not a friendly welcome ! Walked us to table and plonked the menus down with a paper and pen of the buffet ! No explanation or welcome at all - very unfriendly staff has to ask for Sri is and prawn crackers - food came really quickly - mediocre. Literally had a couple of starters and a dish with rice - 2 soft drinks and one glass of wine - So expensive ! ... asked for the bill asked for a finger bowl asked again to pay - very very poor and no other guests to look after ! .... would never go again .... what a shame. Really let themselves down .. the plastic cat in the photo was the friendliest person in there !!! ;(

Last minute spontaneous trip to a little shepherds hut outside Yeovil - We decided to look for a Chinese restaurant to eat at

Arrived on a Wednesday at 12.25pm for lunch. They were closed.Their opening hours for lunch for that day are advertised as 12 noon opening. A women eventually came and unlocked the door. We were then told their card machine was out of action and it would be cash only. First time we had tried and are unlikely to return any time soon.

Everything from food to service was excellent, as all the dishes came to the table quickly. A very relaxing quiet environment to eat in. All the food was amazing and vegetarian friendly, too! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!

not happy have been going her for years but as of late the all you can eat buffet is not what you get we ordered 7 lots of ribs which should have been 21 ribs which is what we wanted as there were 7 adults and 2 children, we also asked for 3 lots of the seaweed and didn't even get any we then asked for 4 lots of the crispy duck and only got 6 pancakes when you should have got at least 10 pancakes we asked for more pancakes so we got 3 more and it just wasn't enough and then the mains well it just wasn't we had to ask for more rice as one of our party didn't have any we feel they charged us £16.99 each and we didn't get an all you can eat buffet why give you a menu to fill out if they don't bother giving you what you asked for.

Buffet is great for big eaters & good value at £16.99 for adults. Got a little confusing when some of the group had buffet & some ordered from the menu.

We went with our children on a Friday night. The food was great. We chose off the menu rather than the buffet - eat as much as you like. Cannot fault the food at all. Service was a little slow at the end as a big group had arrived but not too so bad to complain. It is a little expensive so would be for a treat rather than once per month, but all in all would recommend.

Visited here recently with family. Food was lovely however please take the shark fin soup off the menu there is no need for it. This day and age it is ethnically wrong and I was quite shocked to see it.

Me and hubby have visited a few times and opted for the all you can eat buffet. The value is great, so much better than ordering take away or from the menu. It's fairly quiet mid week but would recommend booking for weekend. Fresh cooked food and good selection. Staff always welcoming. We'll be back soon :)

Had a wonderful meal again at the Fortune Palace next to the A30 between Yeovil and Sherborne. This is the best Chinese food in the area - always tastes fabulous. Favourite dish is sweet and sour chicken always tastes wonderful and the vegetables in the dishes always taste good and are crunchy. Always a real treat coming here.

Birthday meal with family overall very good hot tasty food the only thing that let them down is that they don't really cater much for young choldren

El personal era agradable, a un precio razonable y el buffet tenedor tenía mucha variedad, a pedido, lados parte eran de un buen tamaño y estaba delicioso. No llevar la porción correcta pero afortunadamente suficiente que pedimos nos llenando y podría fácilmente de pedir más y me trajo algunos. Galletas saladas en la mesa con dos salsas diferentes para probar para un chapuzón y aceptaron el pago con tarjeta. Volvería de nuevo si alguna vez volvemos a este camino y lo recomendaría para probar auténtica comida china para este no llevar demasiado.

Tengo que decir que este es el mejor chino alrededor. Ambiente agradable, buena gente y excelente comida. Teníamos todo en el menú, y todo era fresco y estaba buenísimo. Los dim sum son tan buenas como en Hong Kong, he pasado un rato allí y esta tan cerca de la auténtica que he probado. Merece una visita y yo iré de Wincanton para llevar en el futuro!

Yo recomendaría la opción buffet toda la comida aquí es preparado a pedido, a diferencia de la mayoría de todo lo que pueda comer restaurantes chinos - mucha variedad y la comida bien fresca con sabor a precios razonables, pero ten cuidado con las bebidas suaves, como siempre en la cara

Aquí tarde llamado tanto como nos apetecía una comida china. Camarero muy servicial, ya que mi esposa ha explicado su alergia de cebolla. Orden ocupaban rápidamente y bebidas trajo enseguida. Compartimos un plato de alas de pollo crujientes con sal y chili. Absolutamente delicioso. Pan de gambas con salsa sumerge trajeron de cortesía. Principal de mujer Pollo Kung Po era el mejor que ella aparentemente. Mi crujiente pollo con salsa de limón era igual de agradable. Realmente fresco y salsa tenía una bonita tang sin ser demasiado dulces. Arroz de hongos y verduras eran sabrosas y caliente en portacandelitas calientaplatos. En general una excelente comida a un precio razonable con un buen servicio. Sin duda volveremos.

Booked a table for a Saturday lunch but we were the only people there at 1pm. The restaurant is accessed from the eastbound carriageway of the A30 so if you are on the other side you must carry on to a cut through and do a U turn. Parking is at the rear and shared with the adjacent car sales. Inside the restaurant is well presented and clean and the nearby A30 does not sound too noisy. I didnt use the toilets so I cant comment there.On the day we went we were informed that it was cash only as their card machine was broken. Other reviews have mentioned this. Luckily we had enough money to proceed. The food was excellent. It all appeared within 10 minutes of ordering and was tasty and well cooked. I would therefore definitely recommend a visit. Maybe take cash just in case!

Been meaning to try this lace for ages, the buffet is fairly good and great value if your a big eater.

I have visited here several times and felt it was time for a review! I have been for a staff party, family birthday meal, and with my other half quite a few times, always good service, however when it's busy they don't seem to cope quite as well.However the value for money here is unbelievable, fresh delicious Chinese cuisine at an incredibly reasonable price. Haven't had a unenjoyable meal yet. Definitely worth looking out for on the A30 if your hungry.

Really love going to the Fortune Palace. Great service and superb food. Especially love their noodles and spicy beef, everything tastes so fresh.

Second visit here in about 6 years. Place hadn't changed at all. This time returned as a large family of 13. Food was very tasty and presented nicely. My husband said his duck dish was very delicious. The sweet and sour chicken balls were overly greasy in my opinion. I had the shredded chicken which was tasty, the top section was cold but the bottom was hot. The place is very cold so please take a jumper. All the radiators seemed turned off. They only put the overhead air con heaters on around 9pm when it had got busier we had been there since 6:30! Toilets very grubby and freezing! The place could do with a facelift and the staff could do with being a bit more prompt to get the orders and give you your drinks. Overall we all enjoyed the food. Bill around £200 for 7 adults and 6 kids. Kids having ice cream and 2 adult puddings and one round of non alcoholic drinks. Slightly pricy in my opinion.

We went to this restaurant for the Sunday lunch buffet last weekend. The choice of dishes is very good, well cooked, hot and nicely served. It was very good value for money. The drinks are not too pricey either. Restaurant is well furnished and clean. Only complaint is that as there were not many people there is was quite cold or perhaps they should have just turned the heating up. We will go again for Sunday lunch.

Visited with family on a Saturday night. 8 adults. Staff very poor and inattentive, waited half an hour to place drinks order. Then the only wine choice was house or nothing, no fruit ciders, not much choice at all. Gin and tonic served with flat tonic, returned and no improvement. Two menus between 8 people. Poor start. Food okay I guess although I've never ever had duck served ready mashed into tiny shreds on a cold plate, it is normally done in front of you to show that it's freshly cooked, pancakes soggy and I mean soggy. Rice returned as it was freezing cold and in solid lumps. Some starters arrived, some came later. Really terrible service and their manners and customer interaction..... I've had significantly better in McDonald's! Toilets.... don't get me started. Had we seen these first we'd have walked straight out, disgusting. No credit or debit cards accepted and when we paid by cheque, owners asked us to leave it blank, suggesting they're in financial trouble or dodging as they've no credit facilities. Clearly the alcohol stocks were depleted suggesting they'd either not been to cash and carry or their supplier has let them down. Automatically put 10% service charge on the bill, errrr I don't think so. Won't be returning anytime soon. Good luck with serving average food slowly with a sour face and people skills that lead a lot to be desired!!!

We were staying in a small village about 15 miles away and really fancied a Chinese. We found this (there weren't many options) and we thought we'd give it a go. We were slightly nervous as when it comes to Chinese we are quite picky!We weren't disappointed. We ordered from the menu but there was also an eat as much as you can option. All the dishes were tasty and well cooked.The restaurant was busy but the service was good.We would definitely return if we were ever in the area.

We've visited here several times now and must say that while the à la carte is a shade on the expensive side, the "all-you-can-eat" option is outstanding value for money. There is always a warm welcome, the staff are all friendly and efficient, the ambience feels cosy and intimate for what is actually a fairly large room. Finally, the food really is delicious, plentiful, well-presented and excellent value.

Quite possibly one of the best Chinese restaurants (outside of Hong Kong or Singapore) I have ever been to. Quality is very good, and the menu extensive. If you go for the buffet - even better value. Drink prices are reasonable and service also good.Definitely worth a visit.

As many previous satisfied customers have said, don`t be put off by the location beside a dual carriageway or the drab characterless surround and exterior of the premises, once through the door you are in for a treat. We go on the Sunday lunch time ` all you can eat ` for £10.95 buffet, words can not adequately describe the quality of the food. Please just put the words ` absolutely awesome ` in front of all of the following ; Chicken and sweetcorn soup, Prawn toast, Chicken Satay, Sweet `n sour Chicken balls, Lemon Chicken.....and many more ! The food is brought to your table hot and freshly cooked, don`t over order because it`s so easy to just ask for more as you go, we always order a Chicken curry as well from the regular Menu. I`m 57 years old and have been enjoying Chinese food for more than 40 years and this great little place is one of, if not the best I`ve ever been to

Went here while on vacation this summer with family.None of us knew what to expect. We showed up for their buffet, but we didn't see a buffet so we were confused. After some questions, we learned that they have a buffet menu and you can order from the menu as much as you like for one price. The end result....amazingly fresh flavorful food. I only wish we had discovered this place closer to the beginning of our trip so we could have gone back for more.

Despite being just kind of dumped at the side of the dual carriage way and seeming to be part of a car sales yard, this place is a little gem. I lived in Hong Kong for a number of years and I can honestly say that this is the closest I have found to authentic Chinese food (no chickens feet though you'll be glad to know!). The buffet is all freshly made to order and fantastic value for money if there are a few of you. Or you can simply order from the normal menu. I love this place and would happily recommend it to anyone.

My friend took us here for a treat. 5 of us went and we had the all you can eat option £15.99 (Thursday). It was not a buffet style but you can order as much as you like for as long as you bear in mind that you will get charged £3 for every dish you don't finish. We ordered twice on starters and twice on main course. They have a lot of choices with different meat as well. I love prawns and I ordered a few different prawn dishes and they are all very yummy. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated inside. The toilet was clean too. They were not so busy so we didn't have a problem with service. I really enjoyed my meal and even went back and took my partner so he will experience it too. We paid £18.99 as we went on a Friday but still good value for money as you will get a decent chinese meal. We will definitely be coming back but maybe on a weekdays as its cheaper and by reading the other reviews. They seem to get overwhelmed when its too busy or big groups. I hate to think that I will have a bad experience here as I really enjoyed their food and would like to keep coming back even if its 45mins away from where we live.

You have a choice of choosing from a menu in the traditional restaurant style, or having the buffet, which is non-traditional. You are given a list of available starters and main courses and a pen. You tick off what you would like and it is cooked fresh to order. You can have as much as you like, leading to over-eating, I'm afraid. The food is consistently good. We have visited Fortune Palace numerous times and it is ALWAYS a treat. The staff are welcoming, and remember you and your preferences, eg, my husband uses chopsticks, I don't, so our server brings the chopsticks for him, the fork and spoon for me. A small touch, but very nice. If you are in this area and love Chinese food, visit this place. You will not be disappointed.

Don't be out of by the exterior of this place!Although the decor is drab & outdated, the place is very clean, service very attentive, and most importantly good food !Certainly worth a visit!!!

In an area not noted for good Chinese restaurants, Fortune Palace stands out. The dual carriageway location and ghastly exterior give way to comfortable kitsch inside. The food is excellent if unadventurous, but served quickly and with a genuine smile.

Went to the Fortune Palace last night with two friends. We had set menu B for £19 per head. It was ok. Lots of food but mediocre quality. Service was ok but got fed up with being reached across. Been to much better Chinese restaurants.

Great evening - all you can eat, good value for money £18.50, starter plus main none of us needed dessert. Staff friendly and helpful.

I must confess I wasn't expecting too much when I was told this would be the venue for our group of 12. The restaurant is located on the A30 dual-carriageway between Yeovil and Sherborne. After arriving by car, we parked in a car park which is mainly a used-car sale yard. Very odd.The restaurant was extremely busy and our group were seated at 2 round tables placed together. One had a lazy-susan which was ideal, but would have been better if both had them. The food menu we used was from the 'all you can eat' cards. They have a fixed price but charge £3 for each dish that isn't eaten ( to discourage waste - a very good idea).A few of the party noted that the service was a little slow, but I felt it was the norm for a busy Saturday night. The alcohol list was fine but the non-alcohol could offer a few more options for the drivers.The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish that I tried was of excellent quality and all members of the group noted the same. All dishes that you would normally expect were offered so there is no point in telling you what we ate.Overall the location may limit their clientele as you can't just 'pop-in' after the cinema or shopping but if driving or don't mind booking taxis for the short trip out of town, I don't think the food will disappoint.

The exterior of this former roadside greasy spoon belies what is to be found inside and I would strongly recommend giving it a try. I visited with 3 business colleagues on a weekday evening and partook of the "all you can eat" menu - like a buffet, but the food is cooked to order and brought to your table. The a la carte prices looked reasonable also but the "all you can eat" menu was great value for money and the food was delicious.

Visited with some friends celebrating a 50th Anniversary. Very welcoming and made us feel most comfortable. The dining room is beautiful complemented by attentive service. The menu is vast covering all specialties. The standard of the food is exceptionally good. The prices are what you get, perfectly cooked food and table service excellent. Will definitely become a regular . Excellent.

This is probably the sixth time I have eaten here . A bit pricey but the food for me is the best in the area , always had great service , the staff could interact a bit more , they seem a bit shy and stand offish , but the food makes up for any other issues , can't wait to go back again

Delicious Chinese takeaway. Convenient location with lots of parking. Phone orders taken for takeaway - orders always 100% accurate. Fantastic value for money.

A little trepidation about visiting Fortune Palace after seeing a couple of recent poor reviews. Nevertheless, some friends said they enjoyed coming here, so gave it a go. Booked a table for 6pm for us, our parents and our children (10 and 11 year-olds). We had a lovely evening - the food was very good, and the place started to fill up around 6:30 to give a very pleasant atmosphere for eating. The service was a bit on the slow side between courses at our table - but as I watched all the dishes that were coming out of the kitchen I guessed that they were making sure all their customers were eating their first course as priority, before getting back to us. All the staff that served us were attentive and very happy to make recommendations (eg suggesting we cut down on the amount of rice we had ordered - which turned out to be absolutely right!). I will certainly be going back again.

Got a takeaway for two here on our way back from Yeovil. Bizarre position on a dual carriageway next to a large used car dealership which is otherwise in the middle of nowhere. Having said that it's obviously popular as people were already eating there at 6:30pm. They apparently don't use msg so most dishes need seasoning but overall we enjoyed our meals and would definitely go again if in the area. Reasonable value and good portions. Recommended.

I have lived in Sherborne for well over 20 years and on and off visited Fortune Palace, either on my own with my partner or with friends as a group. I went tonight and what a desultory experience I had. Especially as I had just returned from 'the hidden peninsular' in Cornwall, where we had fantastic service everywhere we went. The place was empty - and now I can see why - the prawn crackers hard and cold, the crispy seaweed starter brought very quickly and cold and then.........I ordered a sizzzling dish, chicken with chiili & garlic. Well - to describe it as a sliced J cloth would be flattering. The veg chow mein was OK but I left feeling cheated and sad that this once rather good Chinese was now a very mediocre and desultory barn of a place.

If you want to be served mediocre Chinese food by rude staff the the fortune palace is the place for you.It used to be so good here, it's so disappointing that the staff ( with the exception of the lady who works weekends) really don't care if you go there or not & are not interested in customer service in the slightest.Sadly ,we won't be going back.

My husband dined at our favourite Chinese restaurant - The Fortune Palace near Sherborne, Dorset last night. We are regulars here and enjoy both the food and the complete experience. The prices are good and the staff remember us each time we go although not our names, and are lovely. We always get home ready for a sleep as the food is great and very filling. Highly recommended.

Went here for the all you can eat menu. It was a little expensive at £15 per person and the menu you have to choose from seems very small at only 40 items. The a la cart menu must have 10 pages each with 40 items on. However all the classics are on this all you can eat menu so went for it. It is all cooked to order and extremely tasty and well presented. There is a charge if you leave any complete meals but as you can just keep ordering as you go then this isn't an issue. All in all very much enjoyed it. Will go again. Thank you

The fortune palace is on the dual carriageway to sherborne.Inside is very peaceful and plenty of room for couples or parties. There is an extensive a la carte menu or buffet menu, for a very reasonable price.the service is good and the food is lovely.

Easter weekend treat - ordered by phone, and our dinner was ready for collection 15 minutes later. Food was delicious, and very reasonably priced.
