Good fast service. The App works well. I go to this takeaway bevause it was recommended as the best Chinese takeaway in Dorchester and I'm very happy with the quality of the food.

We drive from are village to ruby's lovely food and the safe aways polite and friendly

We went here for a Chinese a couple of weeks ago after reading online that they have gluten free options avaliable. The staff were all very friendly and explained what I could and couldn't have on their menu. The food was lovely and only living 5 minutes away, we will be back again soon! Thank you! 😊

Expensive compared to other places a round town

We always used this Chinese as it’s the very best. We moved to bridport 2 years ago and the local Chinese’s are awful. We took a chance today on the food staying hot for the journey… so glad we did. Food was piping hot and we are so happy we have our Chinese back. Food was excellent. The large pancake rolls are the best. Enjoy

Well worth the money! Amazing food for everyone, a great variety and everything was STUFFFED! So filling and flavourful! Around £16-£18 per head (depending on how much you order obviously) but it’s all amazing quality with amazing taste and smell, would 100% order again!

Not happy at all sent our order threw the app with special instructions due to food allergies the food came with the orders being ignored with no apology or refund offered so I'm £20+ out of pocketfor that order and then the inconvenience of time to arrange other food Just read your reply y would I order food I can not eat ! We decided to have a Chinese takeaway on our final evening at Warmwell Holiday Park in October 2023. We reviewed the options available to us and decided to go with this venue in Dorchester. It really did not disappoint. The menu was representative of most UK Takeaway Restaurants. The menu was priced fairly and the food was served very quickly. The food was served hot and was incredibly filling. A good place to visit if in the area.

There is no seating area??? This is a takeaway. I had the crisps aromatic vegetarian duck. The pancakes were OK but the "duck" like leather. Has been donated to the seagulls since it is inedible. The chicken chop suey was poor quality chicken and a very small portion for a main. Expensive for the quality of food Very disappointed. We collected since they charge £1 a mile for delivery. There are other takeaways which are better.

Decided to try Ruby house for our dinner last night (Saturday 16th) and all I can say is wow , food was delicious , staff were excellent and very friendly, looked busy but everyone knew what they were doing very professional, loads of free parking outside , didn’t wait very long we will definitely be returning if I could give 6 stars I would , keep up the great work . thank you everyone at Ruby house

Won't use again. Phoned in the order, arrived at specified time, they took the payment and then we waited 10, 20, 30 and more minutes, couldn't go elsewhere as they had the money, shame we didn't have the food, their excuse was it was very busy and had lots of orders, well would they not come in and be behind us. Why was ours pushed back, it was a big order ££

Make a £100 order and they took payment before we had the food. Told order would be ready at 19.15, arrived 5 minutes early only to have to wait 34 minutes for them to finally cook and present the food., had we known we would have gone to the other one in Dorchester. Will not use again. Poor service, ordering over the phone is not worth it. Will use “Imperial dragons” next time

Really disappointing 45 minutes past scheduled pick up time. As Chineese food goes , this was not a place we will be using again, Spare ribs more fat than meat. Chicken Chou min was mostly fat or skin. Under cooked pancake roll. Sweet & sour chicken was tasteless. Though the mushrooms in black bean sauce were nice Spending £100 for a take away, this was ruined by the service and then the poor quality of the food. We regularly eat Chinese food, there really are much better places than this. Summary, small portions and very over priced Do NOT recommend

Had shrimp chow mein noticed the poo had not been removed unlike the King prawns I had, I called to find out why, the chef or owner not sure said to me that they buy them in like that and don't worry you won't taste it, Jesus that comment, all I can say is never again

Extremely disappointed this evening, ordered take away, House Special Chow Mein, Chicken Chow Mein, Chicken balls asked to change sweet & sour sauce for barbecue sauce which I was informed was ok. Order collected, however in arrival home food was cold, we had been give Sweet & Sour Sauce instead of barbecue. Then to find out that we had been over charged by five pounds. Will not be returning,

1st time visiting Ruby House as we live in Sherborne and all local takeaways closed on a Tuesday! Looked on Trip adviser for reviews/recommendations and chose RH. Ordered for 7 people, including 2 children under ten, online including special request instructions for kids dishes. Very tasty food, not oily or greasy, and cooked brilliantly. Although further for us to travel would definitely go again as very impressed with both taste, quality and quantity.

My partner and I live really far away in the sticks and we don’t drive. I am pregnant and was craving some good Chinese food! After an email and a wonderful phone call, we were able to order an amazing Chinese takeaway meal for our dinner! After being turned down by FOUR other restaurants, they accepted the drive! The driver drove all the way out to us to deliver, where he even got lost (bless him!). We received our food and tipped the brilliant driver. Will 100% order again.

Saturday evening for a local delivery, did take rather a long time to arrive after another 2 times of phoning after initially phoning our order in and wondering what time we are receiving the food. When it arrived, the chap was very apologetic and took on my frustration to relay back to the shop. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, the new chef knows his stuff and how the Ruby House does it well.... I always have the chicken balls, which are mahoooosive and a right belly buster and our friends were very pleased with what they had and said "it was the best Chinese meal they'd had in ages", so no complaints from any of us, but we were chomping at the bit by the time it arrived. We will be back soon, but hopefully it won't take too long like it did.

Always friendly staff and food is amazing

Well very possibly the worst fried rice I have ever tasted. It was dark very greasy and not nice to eat. I had one portion as I wanted to put it with some lovely pork leftovers that I cooked the night before, with some sweet n sour sauce. My friend had a portion of this rice too with another dish. I met her tonight and she was equally disgusted with the rice. Quite frankly you do not deserve to be in business selling this rubbish. You can be sure I will not be coming back. The only reason we came to you was that the Imperial Dragon doesn't open Mondays, but when they do open they know how to do fried rice. I have travelled throughout the far East so understand there are different presentations of this dish but even taking that into account my dish was absolutely awful. Chris 0

Our usual Chinese take away is now closed due to retirement so it was time to try Ruby House. Disappointing is the word to describe our first meal from there. It was tasteless, the portions were small & it wasn’t cheap.

We ordered a delivery to our village and it was prompt, hot, crispy and very very tasty. Will now definitely become a regular customer. Good large portions.

Tried this place for the first time. Ordered online and my food was ready when i arrived to collect it on time. I was pleased to see a nice clean establishment. They were incredibly busy and still it was organised and clean. I had the Malaysian satay chicken which was really good. Haven't been able to get this dish from other takeaways I've used so nice to find it and it was really yummy. The sweet amd sour pork Hong Kong style was OK. Have had better but still nice. The special rice was delicious. Can't wait to use again.

Thank you for an excellent takeaway. I contacted Ruby House to say that we were staying in the area and wanted to order a Chinese for 10 people to be delivered to our accommodation. Daniel was so obliging, let me pre-order, confirmed our delivery time and said the driver would call 10 mins before delivery to let us know he was on his way, which he did. The food was delicious and piping hot even after being delivered from Dorchester to Warmwell. The customer service was fantastic too. Will definitely use again if we are in the area. Good food and good service!

Went to place my order and used PayPal as I was on holiday in a park resort and didn't want the hassle of trying to get my money back if they couldn't find me. When I added delivery and PayPal on it was an additional,£10 so I canceled the order. £10 is a ridiculous charge however you put it. This is based solely on the ordering as I didn't try any food so can't say either way.

We were staying locally near Dorchester and we were very impressed with the food. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. We all enjoyed what we selected especially the chow mein dishes. We will definitely be back next we are in the area 😃😃

Really bad experience with the food. Two of us ate different foods and we both struggled with stomach issues afterwards. My friend had cramping and felt sick and I had full blown food poisoning that I'm only now recovering from.

Very poorly cooked takeaway, tasted vile. didn't even eat a 1/4 of our plate and decided to stop and chuck it all away. Stomach upset after 20 minutes of eating. Decided to phone about it to notify them it was badly cooked, resulting in most of it being chucked away and an upset stomach. Owners reply was that maybe you just don't like our style of cooking as I noticed you havnt ordered from us before" ummm no, i know what to expect when ordering Asian style takeaways and it shouldn't taste like that! Every dish had a bright orange red gloupy sauce to it, as soon as the food/sauce cooled in the tubs it was like a jelly texture. Would say it looked like it had msg in the dishes but then that would make it taste nice! Owner was apparently happy with the standard of food going out this evening?! Every dish pretty much had the same odd bland taste even being completely different dishes. We actually had ordered here before but quite a few years ago, which then was really nice. Since speaking to the owner, now reading other recent reviews it seems I'm not the only one feeling disappointed in the quality of cooking and since has changed hands from when we last ordered from here. We are a family of 7 and rarely get to treat ourselves, a real kick in the teeth and money thrown down the drain, leaving us with a bad taste in our mouth in more ways than one! Apologies to leave such negative review but I feel the owner did not deal with this effectively albeit being greatful for the callback. if you want to waste £64.30, a long wait for food just to be checked away and a pair of upset stomachs on a Saturday night, this is your place!

Tried it again tonight the first time for a long time,and have to say very disappointed as I was the time before.chicken Chow mein very very salty and once again the house rice special again had a very Distinctive taste of disinfectant. never had this problem with the previous owner Alan who lived down Mellstock Avenue since he went its never been the same!!

Ordered via the website which was nice and easy. It said on the home page the wait for collection would be 20mins. This is not a live update - took nearly 1 hour before ready. OK it was a Saturday night but - whats the point of having a time on the website if its not accurate.

As per the last review, I can confirm that we were not drunk or on drugs….. We are staying at Warmwell holiday park, ordered food on a Saturday evening and turned up 45 mins later piping hot. Was delicious! Would recommend for anyone staying at Warmwell not knowing where to order from!

By far the best Chinese food in Dorchester. The portions are always huge and the quality of the food is awesome. The staff there are always friendly and genuinely concerned that your food is up to their high standards every time you go.

Took 1h 30 minutes to be delivered and the food wasn't even nice either, to the point I didn't want any more after quarter of the plate. The lady on the phone was quite blunt when I phoned to chase it and simply said 'its just left'... Yeah that's what they all say 🤨..

I order from here once a month as a treat and it’s truly amazing! I’ve never received something and not been happy with it! Not to mention the staff are amazing and kind. (there hoisin sauce is the best I’ve ever tasted too) Delivery is always quick too. I’ll never order from anywhere else. Just a shame delivery is a little pricey but understandable as you have to make some profit!

Have tried all of the local chinese takeaways around Dorchester and I find Ruby House by far the best one! From the first moment of ordering the staff are very nice and polite, the food is always lovely and fresh. Cant fault it at all. I reccommend them to everyone who asks me.

Spotted that these were Open again after being closed for 3 weeks due to putting Corona measure in place. Sou we thought we would give them a try.Very helpful on phone - explained what time we wanted to collect. When I got there I could see it's an open kitchen, I could watch staff working (from a distance) and everything being made. All staff were wearing gloves and face masks. The chap taking payment was sanitizing his hands constantly. This impresses me as I'm very fussy about hygiene. All looked professional, well thought out and clean.When my food was ready they paced on a chair for me to collect in order to maintain social distancing. The food was most excellent - every dish was nice, which is rare as normally when you try a different Chinese there are some dishes you don't like as munch as the usual place you use.They have gained us as a customer - thank you.

I am local so I have had several deliveries from them. Been in Dorchester since the early 80's. Our favourite takeaway so far. Wonderful food and can all be ordered online which suits me.

Food was greasy and tasteless, chowmein had no flavour just tasted of nothing was just greasy not even a hint of soya sauce. vegetarian option had no tofu was just vegetables and sauce the only thing I actually enjoyed was the prawn crackers...

The star of the show was the pancake roll very delicious but Tasteless chow mein very bland, sad to say would be nice to see caramelized noodles,seared beef and sauteed onions ,was very greasy, im a huge fan of chow mein thought id try again at ruby house as the last chow mein i had, was under cooked onions and chewy beef was my birthday meal last October, also today my partner didnt have any tofu in her tofu in black bean and vegetables was also missing a chow mein on the order and had to return to restaurant. Sorry guys its 2 stars but would try again at a later date.

I lived in Dorchester a few years ago and this place was my regular. After moving away and then moving back to the area after a couple of years I told my partner how amazing the food is. Tonight unfortunately It was underwhelming. Disgusting to say the least. We ordered the crispy duck and it was almost inedible. The hoisin sauce was watering and overall a massive disappointment. Won’t be ordering from there again.

I've ordered twice from Ruby House and both times the food and delivery has been excellent. Would highly recommend.

Always pickup yourself, first time we have had it delivered and it has taken over 1 hour and a half and we live under a mile away. Again always pickup as there is always no problem with pickup

Terrible waited nearly 2 hours for 3 bits off food for a portion of rice a chow mien and some chips then resulted to us no even wanting it will never use this place again waste of my time

Excellent food great staff and first in area to fo tofu so I've stuck with them.

Our meal cost £64 for 6. The sweet and sour chicken was awful. Batter was undercooked and soggy inside. Chicken seemed a bit processed and was tasteless. No vegetables at all in the sauce which was far too sweet and vivid red. Spring rolls had barely any filling.Kids had two portions of BBQ ribs which were fatty. Beef chow mein barely had any meat in it. Chilli beef portion was tiny. Wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Visited here on the way back to Devon based on the very good reviews. Excellent veggie options, complete menu on one wall which unfortunately I missed! My vegetarian Singapore noodles from the normal menu were extremely tasty and crunchy. Unfortunately my husband thought his special chow mein was a bit bland hence the 4 stars. I would definitely return and try more of the veggie choices.

We tried this takeaway whilst on holiday in the area. We placed a large order for 10 of us. We requested the time we wanted to collect and it was ready bang on time. Very friendly staff. And the food was lovely. Very hot and fresh and so much flavour. Everyone in our party was happy which takes a lot, believe me!!!!
