Best chinese ive had and thats saying something !! And i eat alot of Chineses!! Food spot on taste amazing duck chow mein and roast pork is szechsuan sauce especially delicious. Were here staying at hawkchurch resort and they delivered! Definitely be ordering again when were back! Thankyou

This Chinese is claiming to be open, however upon arrival we unfortunately found a very small poster on the door claiming that it is shut for the whole of the Easter holidays. This would of been helpful to know by changing the opening status online to warn other customers before making the drive that it is shut!

Food is always great here, especially the special fried rice and chicken chow mein!

Average food. Lady behind the counter didn’t seem too happy when I asked if they take card. Cash only sign but clearly a card machine behind. Not the best customer service or food. Won’t return.

Take away or home delivery only. I thought it was rather expensive, but their only 'competitor' was closed. The pork in the sweet and sour pork balls was a bit tough

Walked in to order on a busy Friday night and was greeted by a delightful smile, efficient ordering and 20 mins later was tucking into a tasty and generous variety of delicious dishes ...

Their food is just absolutely delicious especially the satay sauce and all the salt and chilli dishes.

Great food with lots of flavour and a lovely young girl behind the counter that explained the dishes and gave great recommendations, can't wait to try again!

Delicious food but one dish packed incorrectly. Received prawn balls rather than chicken. Expensive too but good quality. Parking is difficult for pick-up as its on a one-way street. Would look elsewhere when visiting again.

We ordered using the excellent web site and whilst the page informed us that the wait for delivery would be 60 minutes it turned up in around 35 mins, whilst the web page was still saying we had 30 minutes to go! :) The choice was varied with the normal favourites there but also some more unusual ones. The food was really excellent; great flavours, tender chicken, crispy and not chewy batter, generous portions and just lovely to eat. A special mention goes out to the satay chicken skewers; never have we seen such large and still very tasty skewers. Whilst we're only here for a visit we will not only remember the Hong Kong Chinese but order from them if we get another chance.

Ordered 2 Special curry and 1 Beef curry. They supplied 3 beef curries. The meat was tough and inedible. Pancake Rolls were tasteless.Altogether an overpriced disgusting meal.

Horrendous. We ordered a beef curry and two special currys and just received 3 x beef currys. Rice was awful. Spring rolls were bizarre and utterly tasteless. We know that complaining will get us nowhere. Binned the lot. We are locals and will never return. A real shame.

Really happy with our Chinese tonight. Everyone really enjoyed the food. It was all cooked to perfection. Delivery was speedy. It arrived really hot! We will definitely eat here again!!

Ordered a delivery, was told would be about an hour which seemed lengthy but given it was a sat night we went with it. 2.5 hours and several phone calls later the food finally arrived (having to go to the nearest main road to collect) rang to complain but no interest shown as already had our money. Avoid if you can!!

We ordered a curry and sweet and sour chicken balls with some pineapple fritters on a Sunday evening at about 8-15 pm , delivery was on doorstep as we got home from town , still hot though so no problem , was lovely all tasting really nice . Thankyou

Absolutely disgusted with this place phoned up and ordered when it arrived 1 dish was missing then phoned up and the girl on the other side of phone was so rude not how customer service should be run then say we have to pay for the dish cause she didn't hear me right the first time then the driver come out and asked for the money which we said no as they over charged us and said there prices have changed not what there menu or website said then he took our food back so then we phoned up and she was rude again and said they would send it back out and now it's been any hour and half and not seen nothing very rude drivers aswell avoid at all cost now they have updated there website

Sweet and sour Chicken was rancid, rice and chicken chow mein was very poor, don't bother entertaining this place.

Food was hot and delivered within 50 minutes. Use the online service they have on their website, it was great and we had no issues at all. This is the local Chinese if staying in Lyme Regis and it’s nice. I enjoyed my chicken and sweet corn soup the most and would recommend that :)

We ordered crispy Roast Duck, Barbecue ribs, Beef chow main, Hong Kong sweet sour Chicken and Special with Mushrooms, all for sharing. The food was lovely the flavours didn't over power each other like most Chinese food I've had in the past. Being a Tuesday the takeaway was quiet so would it be differently when busy who knows. However I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend this takeaway. Keith Worcestershire.

Delicious food, excellent service.

Firstly the positives. The takeaway was ready on time and we were given everything that we ordered. The prawn crackers, which were complimentary, were not only a large portion, but good quality. The crispy duck was a generous portion of duck which was also quite tasty. The pancakes were bland and tough. The sauce unpleasant. The main courses were poor. The beef in oyster sauce tasted like low quality cooked roast beef. It was the worst Chinese dish I have ever tasted. Unfortunately this is the only Chinese takeaway in Lyme and we have absolutely no reason to return sadly. My recommendation is to avoid. Lal Qila Indian is good and East is top drawer, really good, but East doesn't do takeaway.

I ordered twice from here now, both times I was coming back from a trip out in the area, and both times they got my food ready in 15-20 minutes. The first time, I had tofu with vegetables in Szechuan sauce, with chow mein and second time tofu with vegetables in satay sauce with chow mein. They made adjustments to the exact way I like it. I really recommend popping in.

Despite pre-ordering, they didn't seem to have the order. But when we did get it, and drove just 2 minutes back to home, some food was lukewarm, some food cold and some vegetables were chilly cold!! This was very alarming because it can only mean one thing, and that is the food was not properly cooked, most likely because they were crazy busy and trying to get the food out quick! YUK!!!

Fab takeaway from here last night! We waited an hour for delivery but that’s to be expected on a Saturday night! Singapore noodles , spicy wings, bbq ribs ! All very yummy

I have now had several take aways from here, all delivered to my door, so I felt they deserved a good review.. The latest one was at the weekend, ordering online was simple and it shows you approximately how long it will be.. and delivery was on the, by a friendly delivery chap! I ordered special fried rice, king prawn fried rice, sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mein, chips, curry sauce and sweet and sour sauce.. all looked really tasty and you could see fat juicy prawns in the rice, and see all the different meats in the special fried rice.. and it tasted yummy too.. ordered too much so had the rest the nest day heated up.. and again as tasty as the day before.. So lucky to have this wonderful chinese that delivers to your door close by! will definitely have another... and another! Many thanks Hong Kong Chinese.

They need to under stand how to make a good takeaway go back to the school of cooking and drop the cornflour for gods sake, we got three different dishes and they where all the same bland and full of cornflour no taste

What's happened? Our previous takeaway from Hong Kong Chinese was very disappointing, but now its the best takeaway we've had down here! Freshly cooked, fresh ingredients and great service! Could not recommend it enough!

Quality of food is declining. Service is very poor. Certainly don’t order on line and avoid ordering shredded beef. It’s all batter no beef, appalling, with the oil tainted with fish. 90min estimated delivery time the reality it was over 2hrs. Sadly something is going horribly wrong. It used to be so so good.

This ridiculous restaurant is in shambles. Fact of the matter is that they don't know how to run a takeaway. Card reader broken, people waiting an hour for food (I've been waiting 45 min is my food almost ready? Come back in 20 min). Grim and ridiculous. Avoid.

Having heard that they had changed hands from last time, my girlfriend and I decided to try them again, and what an improvement!The tofu was amazing, the accompanying vegetables tasted fresh, the fried rice was light and delicious, and the ribs were tender and perfectly cooked. The delivery was great, and the driver was super friendly and thorough.

This place used to be quite nice, now its manky and dated along with the food which is pretty gross, its horrifically over priced and honestly not worth it. Food in lyme isn't great anyway but this really is a blot on the landscape of local cuisine.

Absolutely disgusted by this takeaway! I live quite local to it, but never used before! Thought would give it a try! Big mistake! Collected our food sat down to eat at home and we find a hair in one of the dishes! After examining closer then found another hair! Then another one in the prawn crackers!! After completely being put off and binning the lot, we opened the fortune cookies, and all stale!!!! Safe to say we will NEVER EVER use this Chinese again!

Avoid avoid avoid. It’s a disaster. Staff. Good and service. Honesty wait until you get home and do not go to this dump. It’s awful awful awful. Please don’t waste money or think you can eat it. Shocking. Avoid. It please. I’ve been to 400 places on trip advisor and this ranks near the bottom.

this food is so nice however waiting is a bit long but overall so worth it. you can pre order on their website which makes things a lot easier.

I am a vegetarian and the woman on the phone talked me through the best options and I really enjoyed my meal. overall I would definitely recommend and great service

We ordered a takeaway at 6:00 to be delivered she advised it would be 1 and half hrs which we were happy to wait. After 1 hr 45 we called to ask if it was on its way. She then said it was being cooked and would be a further half a hour. Unfortunately after 40 mins it was still not with us again called and she said it was out for delivery. It arrived at 9:00. The food was nice but just order in good time. If we had known and had not had drinks we would have ordered or gone else where.

Ordered at 5 p.m., collected at 5.20. Egg fried rice with duck in BBQ sauce. Delicious.

I'm amazed by the overall low rating. I'm a pretty regular user, and a critical eater, and I find what I order is very good or excellent. Everywhere may have occasional service glitches (not that I've had any here) but I find some of the reactions a bit OTT.

Best food you have but you services little bit slow

Ordered our Chinese takeaway from this ridiculous restaurant, we ordered our food at 19:33pm online and rang them at 20:45pm as still not been delivered, for them to say it will still be another 30 mins! And the girl on the phone had quite an attitude! And wouldn’t even do anything to say we’re sorry! The website also told us it was on its way when it obviously wasn’t! We could of easily driven there twice and back already in the time it’s taken! It fully states on the website delivery will take 45 minutes!

I only ordered two dishes, one was ok, the other was awful and I didn’t think it was the ‘mixed vegetables with satay’ that I ordered. There were very few vegetables, about 90% bean sprouts and certainly no taste of satay. I called the takeaway to ask if I had been given the wrong order by mistake and, after waiting for the woman to go and ask in the kitchen I was bluntly told “the vegetables were cooked in satay sauce” and… wait for it… “there is nothing we can do”. Charming customer ‘service’! I was flabbergasted - no gesture of any sort, not even an apology. I am local and will not be back, neither will I be recommending the place. Very disappointed.

Ok chinese, if they checked that the BBQ spare ribs were cooked throughout when removing from the microwave it would be at least a 4 star, warm 1 end cold the other end, not acceptable

Our first take-a-way from here. ‘Phone was constantly engaged, thus went with the online ordering option with delivery. This was not entirely intuitive and took a while. A page then quoted 90 mins. wait, which seemed a long time at 2015 on a Sunday night for a restaurant less than a mile away. There was a countdown timer on the order confirmation page but this stopped every time my ‘phone screen went off so after half an hour of waiting there was still 87 minutes to wait! In the end, the food took just 50 mins., the driver was very courteous and the food was pretty good - with the exception of the mixed starter which was small and looked poor value. Room for improvement.

Really disappointing!! We ordered sweet and sour chicken, chilli chicken and an appetiser platter for 2. I like ordering a Chinese as it is normally better than a homemade version, this however was not the case. All the food was very bland! I opted for sweet and sour as you normally know what to expect. I have no idea what they did to the sweet and sour but it lacked all flavour. Also it was supposed to be sweet and sour chicken but half of them were prawns. The spring rolls and samosas were tiny and the ribs were dryer than Jesus's sandals. Sadly would not recommend and will not be going back during our stay.

Local to Lyme Regis and I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. I've told everybody I know to avoid this place. Twice now I've waited up to 3 hours for my food only to be let down by missing items. Then having to wait for them to sort it out and deliver it again. Twice in a row this happened. Won't be buying again that's for sure.

I had a takeaway last night and it was the nicest chinese I've had in a long time. Not many places deliver in Lyme Regis so thought I'd give this one a go. It didnt disappoint. Huge portions and extremely tasty. Delivery lady was so friendly and polite as well. Will definitely order again.

Sharing starters platter good. Sweet and sour chicken balls excellent. Other things included in the meal for 2 were really mediocre. The rice was horrible and ended being thrown out as bird food.

Great Chinese on holiday in the area and food was first class and easy quick delivery and order was exactly how we ordered. Would highly recommend and enjoy the food!!

Haven’t eaten from here for some time, but decided to try it after I heard there was a new chef in town, well what a difference, had two takeaways now and both were delicious, especially the BBQ ribs, meat is so tender.

Having been a customer of Golden House in Axminster for nearly 30 years, we moved ... and one of the upsides is The Hong Kong Chinese. Unlike the other take away, its piping hot...well priced and HUGE portions. I can honestly say, if we hadn't moved, I would drive from Axminster to buy here...as it is far far better value and quality, and would still be hot after driving home.

We ordered over the phone having struggled a bit to find a menu online (hubs found a photo of the menu eventually). Hubs went to pick it up 15min after ordering (as advised) - not surprisingly he then waited another 15min before it was ready but well worth it as the food was tasty, portions were generous and it was all hot and fresh.Options for vegetarians (and they did a veggie singapore rice noodle dish for me on request which was great). Good value - look forward to eating from here again next time we're in the area.

Incorrectly took our order originally, refused to deliver 3 mins away and the duck is so inedible, it's like chewy fat on a steak which you cant bite through. They refused to do anything when I told them as well. Definitely DO NOT order from here. Bad service and bad food, most likely frozen and reheated considering how long the food was to get ready.

The food is of the highest quality. It is cooked to perfection and there is plenty of it. Value for money is outstanding. I've heard nothing but excellent reviews from others. If visiting Lyme, give it a go.

Cannot fault the quality of the food. We’ve never complaint and no matter what we order, ever time the food tastes amazing! Even tho prices went up, it’s totally worth it. You get such a warm welcome from the staff, and they are always friendly. Highly recommend this Chinese take away! Thank you everyone!

We usually pay attention to the reviews on here, but glad we decided to go against them for this one. It may depend on what you order, but our food was wonderful - we had: salt and chilli squid (excellent, best one I’ve ever had), chicken curry (really tasty), sweet and sour chicken balls (absolutely huge, chicken moist and batter great). The only thing not quite to our taste was the sweet and sour sauce... nothing wrong with it.

Not good I'm afraid. Overspiced, tough meat and a rediculous must spend £15 before you can use a debit card. They don't have a website and don't use just eat so you have no idea until you get there. Sad in this day and age that they don't want this single blokes tenna!!

Very average food. My vegetable chow mein had hardly any vegetables on it - mostly noodles. I wouldn't visit again.

A Chinese takeaway that has not changed its decor in 15 years, very dated, but don't let that put you off. The vegetables have always been freshly cooked and just the way I like them,al dente. The meat type dishes are all as you would hope for from any Chinese, that is supplied from a central supplier that supplies restaurants in the area. Generally good food.

For a chinese take away the worst i have ever had. The chicken wings were worse than iceland frozen wings. The special fried rice had this really wiered processed tinned like meat in it. I wont go back and warn you to inspect before buying.

Ordered a shrimp curry, crispy beef & prawn toast. Actually received prawn instead of shrimp. About 10 prawns with half a plate of sauce, 2 mushrooms cut in half & a quarter of an onion cut in to large chunks.Crispy beef was over crispy.Prawn toast wasn't even cooked & had noodles in which it never has before. We usually really enjoy our meals from hear. Im guessing a new chef has started & doesn't care about his job or someone is just not enjoying life today. Called to complain & were just tutted

Had a ‘Special’ with ginger and spring onions and egg fried rice. Average quality and price for a Chinese takeaway. They were quite busy with phoned-through orders but it did seem to be the only Chinese takeaway around.

Had a takeaway last night, was told there would be a wait as they were very busy, which l appreciated ,food was really nice , the only criticism would be , the chop Suey could have been in a bigger container as its main ingredient is bean sprouts
