Was all set to enjoy a coffee in my favourite Costa ( see review Jan 23 ) when I witnessed the best example of managerial skill I have ever seen . I imagine that the customer in question may have underlying social problems . He was unbelievable rude - over a cookie . The abuse that staff were subjected to because they had unfortunately sold out was totally disproportionate. Sir , get a life . Staff , well done for the calm and professional way you handled an extremely unpleasant situation !

This place is perfect . Warm and friendly with the excellent coffee and snacks you would expect from any Costa . Two things make it one of my favourite places . The pretty little walled garden out back , with its heaters for the chilly mornings , and the fantastic staff . The staff in my opinion make this place exceptional . They are always welcoming and go above and beyond any customer service team I have ever come across . A true haven .

What a shame. I was just sitting trying to have a coffee in peace, when a member of staff starts to sweep up and start moving the furniture. It wouldn't have been too bad, had she tried to lift the chairs and tables to move them. Alas, this wasn't the case. As with the brush and mop, she used just ONE hand to move everything. With NO consideration for me or any of the other customers. Probably not her fault, she should have been trained better. A disillusioned Caterer.

We often search out Costa Coffee, knowing that we like the coffees and the food and drinks on offer. Lyme Regis's Costa was perfectly good although felt slighly lagging behing those having been newly refurbished. The service was fine, abeit slow due to long queues. The staff, howevwe, were very friendly and polite and apologetic about the wait time. No complaints at all though.

Took both my dogs into Costa Coffee a couple of days ago, just for a refreshment of drinks and cakes. Although it allowed dogs on the premises and has a sign saying dog friendly, I found a member of staff who I believe was the manager (tall man with glasses) to be very anti-dogs to the point of being rude and standoffish. I was not impressed especially as my dogs were friendly and extremely well behaved. Although I was on holiday I come to Lyme Regis every year and will definitely not use the facilities again.

The food and drinks are up to the normal standard expected of Costa. The location is great. Sadly this place is partly managed by Peter who makes it clear he dislikes people and the hospitality trade he is rude and makes it known to all around him. It does have a comedic value and could become a place for foreign visitors to come and be verbally abused.

We decided to pop down to Lyme today as we love the coast, and as per usual decided to get a hot chocolate at Costa. As we walked in to the store, the two male members of staff were behind the counter reading a newspaper on the counter. They both didn't bother to look up or even acknowledge we were there. Eventually the youngest lad asked what I wanted, and the other staff member stayed reading.. elbows on the counter resting his head. He tutted when he was asked to do some work. We were asked if we wanted chocolate sprinkles when I kindly said oh do we not get cream? To which the reply came, uh no you have to pay for that! Well as the staff normally ask if cream and or marshmallows are required.... so the guy making the chocolates said fine... and poured away some drink to get the cream in.... all could have been so much better without the attitude! Customer service training required here! But the actual drink was ok today...

I recently visited with my family on holiday and first off they had none of what we wanted , we tried to order 3 different drinks to be told they didn't have them, which is ridiculous so in then end we got a bottle of drink and a toastie , The girl caked in makeup behind the counter was very rude , she had a face like thunder , snatched the card from my boyfriend , ignored me when I had a query and slammed the stuff down onto the tray, leaving my boyfriend to ask me what we had done wrong!? , we sat outside to wait for the toastie and when the girl brought it out she practically threw it at me but trusting it in my general direction with such an attitude , when I caught it, she let it go so I nearly dropped it and she said in the most sarcastic possible 'oh I'm sorry I thought you had it' ,she had a little smirk on her face , I was so shocked with the sheer amount of rudeness I had witnessed that at that point I questioned what I had done wrong and she just ignored me and walked away and muttered something which I didn't quite catch ,my whole family was shocked and confused as to what we had done , the only thing we could think of was that we ordered things they didn't have but that's not our fault ! They should have signs to say what was unavailable!!! We rushed our food and were getting ready to leave as we felt so awkward, when my sister went to get a muffin to takeaway for my little niece who was with us and asking why the lady was being so rude! and my sister heard the girl slagging me off to a male member of staff ! Leaving me and my family very confused, shocked and awkward ....never again !

Usually I enjoy going in Costa but this occasion was different. My order was taken and I asked for a hot chocolate but wasn't asked (as always is) whether I wanted cream and marshmallows with it.. I was busy trying to get a high chair for my little one ( the barista pointed out where they were but didn't bother to get one for me) and realised with dismay when I came back that there was no cream topping but said nothing as they had already made a mistake with my order by charging me for 2 lattes instead of one; and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. I asked for a piece of millionaires shortbread and a piece of rocky road which were plonked on the same plate with no serviette and no knife. The service and the presentation just was not up to normal costa standards. It was more like a visit to Starbucks. It has really put me off going in there. In future I will find somewhere else in Lyme.

Came in to meet friends and ordered a creamy cooler :) I have these often so I know what goes into them far too well... I received mine with no sauce lacing the cup and no fudge bits on top the cream. I didn't know of they didn't have any or had just forgotten so I asked the person who was at the til at that time (the manager "pete") and he rudely interrupted me saying they'd ran out. I saw the sauce on the side so they hadn't run out of that but they didn't want to do the drink again as it must have been too much bother. It was no biggy that I didn't have these bits as I then explained but I said I thought I'd just ask and he replied with "I'm going to walk away from.you before I lose my temper"! I could not believe it. I don't know if he'd had a bad shift but that is no way to talk to a paying customer. The barrister however was lovely and cane over to me asking if my son would like some flake bits on the house which we accepted and he got everywhere :) so I was a bit disappointed with this visit but hopefully they will be in a better mood if there's a next time or I'll just go somewhere else after all, lyme isn't short of coffee shops :D

I went back to Costa in Lyme today to see if things had improved. As a local, I used to go in every day until a few months ago when the coffee began to be bitter. (You can also tell before tasting by the colour of the coffee around the rim of the cup). Sadly, it hasn't improved and the choice of coffee shops now in Lyme is so good that there's no need to put up with bitter coffee. It's not just me; others I used to meet up with have said the same. I understand it's something to do with not washing the machine out thoroughly but as I'm not a barrista, I can't confirm this. Shame.

We are regular customers of Costa, using several different outlets including Blandford, Wimborne, Southbourne, Poole centre, Hamworthy Poole, Dorchester and yesterday Warminster. They all offer great consistency of quality and generally are pleasant and accommodating, which is amazing considering how invariably busy they are. The Lyme Regis branch is certainly no exception to the rule other than, in our experience, always offering service with a smile. No mean feat considering our 2 young grandsons usually create mayhem at some point during our visits. We can recommend this shop as a relaxing destination for those wanting a good coffee - provided you pick a day when we aren't there!

I've given this venue quite a few chances, having dropped in for a coffee several times; however, in my view, there's something fundamentally wrong. Perhaps it is the perennial problem with Costa, which is that they can't seem to organise things so that you don't have to wait ages in a queue to get a simple cup of coffee or tea. I just really don't enjoy that. This is probably not the fault of the venue, it is a corporate issue and one which might usefully be addressed? People don't necessarily like waiting for ages to get a coffee, and would much prefer to have someone come and take an order and simply bring them a coffee. The other trouble with Costa Bridport is that it is not up to scratch decor-wise; it could do with a massive re-vamp. And it would be good if Mums with pushchairs could be helped to find a space where they will be happy with their noisy toddlers, leaving others who've been there and done that to enjoy a bit of peace!

Always a treat having a skinny latte! Loved sitting in the armchair by the window watching the world go by. Daughter adored her strawberry & cream cooler.

Sure, it's just a chain coffee shop but the Lyme Regis Costa has some of the friendliest and most skilled staff I've come across. I've been to lots of Costas in lots of different towns but this could well be the best.

This Costa is not dissimilar to others, it is air-conditioned, well furnished and with friendly staff. One day we had great drinks but the next time we popped in I wanted a change from my usual, so I chose a Caramel Latte instead. I was asked whether I wanted it blended or shaken but I didn't really understand the difference as I have never been asked that before. What I was given was a cooler, which was not what I had asked for. When I told the lady she was very blunt and quite rude so I left it and gave it a go. I didn't enjoy it at all, it was very creamy and too rich and sickly, nothing like a Caramel Latte I had had many times in other Costa's. Was a bit of a shame but the majority of the time Costa is great so it doesn't put me off revisiting.

I detest the taste of Costa coffee, but we popped into this café on a very hot day and got cold drinks, fresh sandwiches and a warm welcome. The café is well located in the middle of the main drag through Lyme (Broad Street). It is quite large and thankfully on this very hot day, air-conditioned. We were fare-welled by the staff as we left. I'd say it has excellent management practices if staff are trained to do this. Highly recommended.

Ok Costa, what's going wrong? Used to be the best Costa Coffee Shop for miles around.Sadly not at the moment, change of staff, change of cleanliness, slow service, needs sorting out.And where is the Manager, sadly not a noticeable presence.

Stopped for a quick lunch while walking the dog today. I was served by a lovely young chap who was smiley and very helpful. He even offered to carry my tray outside as I had the dog with me. I chose a delicious cranberry and brie toastie. It was served piping hot and was PERFECT! I sat outside in the sunshine looking across the woods. Great value and can totally recommend this special place.

I Had a family evening with cocktails to start, unfortunately they had not a clue how to serve or make these,by a friendly young girl, the food was the worst i have had for a long time, and although i told the elderly lady she seemed to listen but shrug it off with no effect, totally overpriced for what we had ,very small meals, missing the main ingredient FOOD.I hope they can improve and get a barman in to make the cocktails, they need to be shaken, not just pored!!

Visited the Fun Factory on a rainy day with my baby. To book in, other children in the waiting area were running into his pram. The gates were hard to open. Upon arrival, we were told, that the only available tables were upstairs and there was no lift! I had to carry the baby and pram up the stairs. Walking through the downstairs department was like trying to run through a jungle. We finally got to our table which was covered in what looked like chewed food and saliva and all over the chairs too. I am aware that soft play areas are noisy but this was more than that. I took the baby down to play in the under 3's section which was a tiny cage. There weren't many activities for him to play with. The baby mirror in there was dirty, the ball pit was over crowded. To get on the slide, it was a climb and with a baby, it proves impossible. Older children were coming in the baby section and scaring him and leaving the gate open which I was furious about. The sensory toys were broken. A 7 year old girl was in there throwing balls at him too and I had a go at her mum and told them to get out. I told a member of staff and they did nothing about it. He also had some lunch there which looked cheap and processed. You could literally see the fat dripping off it. You are apparently allowed to take the babies in the older children's play area but I was straight away put off when i saw the filth on some of the children's socks and the rate they were running around! In order to make this a better place you really need to add a lift, make a better play area for babies, get friendlier and more helpful staff, healthier food, clean the place and maybe even give it a revamp, buy more toys for the baby area and in general make it more appealing. Until Fun Factory up their game, I'm certainly not going back. Unless you want your babies to have a day of being in the worst play area of all time, don't come here!

Large chip portions are large ! Cash only. Curry sauce was slightly thin perhaps compared to Northern chippies. Prices are ok for a touristy town

Delicious (and hot) pasties with buttery flaky pastry. Also very good treacle tarts with excellent pastry.
