The best restaurants in Chagford West Devon South West

Walked in around 12.30 with my husband on a Saturday afternoon, stood by the counter where 3 member's of staff were supposedly working, we waited for what seemed like ages, but in reality around 3 to 4 minutes, not one of those 3 member's of staff made eye contact or acknowledged us in any way. Both my husband and I felt very awkward so we promptly left. What on earth is wrong with these people? All it takes is a smile and a quick we will be right with you, but not to even welcome your guests/customers is so rude and certainly not hospitable. So I would like to say to all 3 of those ladies, you really need to revaluate, and seriously consider if a job in hospitality is the right job for you, if the answer is yes then please get yourself some training quickly!!!

As foodies we were looking forward to trying this bakery as it has such consistently good reviews, the sandwich we had was freshly made on their very tasty sourdough, the cheese had a nice bite but overall it was a little dry possibly because the fennel chutney was quite sparse. I’m sure if we had gone back the very helpful ladies would have sorted that but we were walking and about 5 miles away when we stopped to eat it. There is no doubting the quality of the food, as you would expect at £7.50 for a sandwich, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return but maybe ask for just a little more of the chutney next time.

Best ice cream in UK. And one of the best ice cream in Europe. Nothing more to say really - it is that simple. If you like and chase good quality food products you should make that effort and go to Chagford to try their ice cream. The village is also a nice spot to go to. It is located on top of a hill.

The vibe is great - great music, really great coffee and a lovely array of interesting books. The lady who served us was extremely friendly. Unfortunately the place was a bit dirty, the food really wasn't anything to rave about and the staff could have had cleaner clothes on. We sadly wouldn't return here.

A wonderful warm and welcoming café, serving the best coffee and hot chocolate around, with delightful homemade cakes and a fantastic breakfast & lunch menu. Fresh, local produce is used, and the owners have clearly made such an effort to source the best ingredients, especially the coffee, which I believe is a local brand. My Dad is a coffee lover and was so impressed. I had a hot chocolate, made with proper chocolate flakes which made for one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had! Chagford itself is such a charming town, so many thriving local businesses in a friendly community. The bird cage is a must if you're in Chagford, and even if you're not, here is your reason to visit! 10/10.

I love this Deli, the owners and their team are wonderful, kind and very friendly. I always leave with a smile on my face. The food is delicious and I love visiting.

Best pub food I've had in a long time! Lovely relaxing atmosphere and delicious food. What more could you want. I came her with my siblings after a recommendation from my sister who had a been a few weeks prior and highly rated it. We had a three course meal which did not disappoint! Started with the beetroot and goats cheese which tasted fresh and delicious. Then the beef shin pie which looked on the smaller side but it was packed with flavour and actually more than enough. The chocolate delice pudding was to die for! Full of flavour and chocolate yum! The sugary pecans were a bonus. The presentation of the food was that out of masterchef which made the food even more delectable. If you're a foody I'd highly recommend eating here. The price is slightly higher but they use local ingredients which is cooked to the highest standard, so happy to pay a bit more for quality produce. I'll live locally so will definitely be back soon. An excellent small, friendly pub, much frequented by locals. Please note there is no food available other than a range of crisps etc.

Very ordinary food and very poor service.

Friendly local pub with darts and regulars and good service. There are not many tables for eating at but we were comfortable there. I had liver and bacon with mash and vegetables and wife had steak and ale pie with vegetables and nice chips. The food was good. With a soft drink and a good pint the bill came to £35.00.

If I could give more stars if it would let me. We have stayed here a few times now, this time was different for us as we brought along our 4 month old. Our stay was made perfect as the staff couldn’t of been any more accommodating to us, we can’t wait to come back soon, the food absolutely perfect and our room we had this time is now our new favourite! We thought the room yealm was which is lovely! But we now have a new one. Thank you for making our weekend perfect ❤️
