As foodies we were looking forward to trying this bakery as it has such consistently good reviews, the sandwich we had was freshly made on their very tasty sourdough, the cheese had a nice bite but overall it was a little dry possibly because the fennel chutney was quite sparse. I’m sure if we had gone back the very helpful ladies would have sorted that but we were walking and about 5 miles away when we stopped to eat it. There is no doubting the quality of the food, as you would expect at £7.50 for a sandwich, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return but maybe ask for just a little more of the chutney next time.

Its the best bakery I've ever been to. Everything is so mouth wateringly tempting. The sourdough bread is gorgeous and the tastiest Ive had, even compared to London. All the ingredients are organic and have been carefully researched locally, and if not locally, UK based. Everyone's so friendly too! Great place to just sit and take in the friendly village atmosphere! Love it!

The seeded loaf is for me, undoubtedly the King of the Breads from Julia and her team ... and that is saying something as the sourdough 'village' is also really scoffable & addictive. The cakes are far too tempting and as for the cinnamon rolls ... well lets just say, I have to strictly ration them as a treat as otherwise I wouldn't fit in my jeans! Delicious.

Beechwood Bakery is one of the best bakery you will ever visit, the sourdough bread is off the cart the best I have ever tasted. All of the cakes and savoury will not disappoint so when visiting chagford it’s a must very friendly little shop, be sure to go early in the morning as they do sell out quickly.

The cakes (especially the streusel with seasonal fruits!) are totally heavenly and the different breads are seriously wholesome and delicious. Beware, the temptation to over indulge on the mouth watering offerings can prove irresistible! Wonderful bakery and very friendly staff...

This is my favourite place on Dartmoor. The cakes and pastries are varied and delicious and the soups at lunchtime tasty and nourishing. I'm so glad Julia managed to stay open during lockdown and can't wait for the cafe side of things to open up again.

When I lived in Hackney I used to daydream about this bakery when I felt hungry. Now I live near Chagford and I still dream about it but it's a shorter walk. Nobody does better pastry. The bread is amazing. Cookies etc. That's just the floury stuff. Such a tiny place with so many yummy things in it.

I am lucky enough to say this is my local bakers, even in these times the service is second to none. The Bread and numerous savoury and sweet treats are very tempting.......my favourite is Pumpkin pie simply the best. I think the reviews from visitors and residents sum up the Beachwood perfectly. Due to COVID restriction staff serve from an open doorway with a temporary counter.

We went to Chagford to go to Jaded Wines wine shop. Next door is Beechwood Bakery. Red wine with Beechwood black olive and rosemary foccacia was absolutely heavenly. Be warned though...we went back for more later the same week and was told by the lovely lady who runs it she only does foccacia at the weekends...my advice is stock up! I bought some sourdough bread instead and that was very good too.

We are so fortunate to have Beachwood Bakery in our town. Julia and team do an excellent job of providing bread, cakes, crumpets , savoury and other delights. They also do take away coffee and sometimes soups.
