Great food and cakes, dog friendly and super service. Crab sandwich is the best I've had.

Money very well spent, extremely good Pizza's in a great setting.

Lovely little place, loads of menu choices including vegan and gluten free and happy to switch things out on the set menus, super friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Really cute hiddden gem of a back garden perfect on a dry day!

Great food and service, the tempura fish were excellent. Had a couple of issues finding a cab to get back to our holiday accommodation, they couldn’t have been more helpful and managed to sort a ride home for us. Highly recommend.

We booked a last-minute dinner at the Royal George for 12 people (with just a couple of hours’ notice!) and were absolutely blown away by the experience. We’re on holiday in Appledore and this evening was easily a highlight of our trip. The team couldn’t have been more accommodating – they gave us a private room, which made it feel extra special. Service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. We were never left waiting for anything – drinks flowed, food came out promptly, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The food? Incredible. The burgers were terrific, the steaks were melt-in-the-mouth tender, the mussels were fresh and full of flavour, and the fish curry was perfectly spiced and absolutely beautiful. They even went above and beyond by sending us home with a takeaway portion of the chef’s crumble of the day for a family member who couldn’t make it. Such a thoughtful touch. And yes, our dog Barney was welcomed too – which made the whole evening feel even more inclusive and relaxed. We left full, happy, and very grateful. The Royal George is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!

Such a fabulous cafe! We walked to Appledore while on holiday in Westward Ho! We were recommended it by another walking on the harbour and it didn't disappoint! Quick and friendly service, lovely atmosphere and wonderful food! The menu was quite small, but it was a nice selection. We all ate the open toasted sandwiches which I thought were on the expensive side, but they were delicious.

Great live music drinking pub. They don't offer food but allow you to bring in takeaways which is decent.

Excellent fish and chips, split a portion for us as we're not big eaters, even that was too much

A large portion of chips should stretch further than what they do at the minute, i should be able to feed a couple of adults and feel full, i could have finished it myself! same with the pots of gravy/ curry. I'll be visiting the competition around the corner next time we want a chippy. Shame, as they are nice.

Had a lovely stay in a gorgeous sea view room in the annexe and got lost in the huge bed. Chris and the team were so welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious, with so much choice. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant too and would definitely recommend.

8 family plus 1 baby and 2 friends. Ordering was fine. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. The staff were polite, efficient and friendly. Table, cutlery and plates were clean. Toilet was clean and well equipped.

My partner paid £17.10 for a thatchers, half pint of coke & a fruit shoot. And the pub smelled like an old boot. Fish and chips opposite was horrendous too. But somehow cost less than our 3 drinks from the pub, as you can tell wouldn't recommend. Far too expensive.

We stopped at the Quay for drinks one afternoon. Nice relaxed vibe, good choice of drinks. Seats outside seemed full of locals all afternoon but that’s fine - their perogative! We sat inside which was fine. We wernt going to eat but it got to late pm and we were hungry. We asked for a main dish from the menu and a pizza from the takeaway menu. Apparently you can’t eat pizza indoors so they suggested we go and eat on the beach! On the one hand we understand they have rules but equally the indoors bar was largely empty and they had one table ordering food upstairs. Why not just serve us a pizza after we’d spent a good chunk of money on drinks during the afternoon. Went to eat elsewhere which is a shame as probably won’t come back for food now we’ve not had the opportunity to try it.
