The food and environment were both both OK, but the service was appalling! We were taken to a table where people were still sitting and left there to wait for them to finish which was very awkward. When we did sit we then didn't see anyone to order for a considerable amount of time. Eventually we went in and asked if we could order and the stroppy waitress came to us. She then asked a table next to us if they were finished to which they replied "Er no, we are still waiting to order!" We also only received part of our desert order and had to go and get the rest from the counter ourselves. A slow, awful experience!

Wonderful cafe in Appledore with a great garden out the back, too. Lots of choice, great breakfasts, lunches, cakes and gluten free options, including their cheese of sweet scones.

Website says shut at 4.00. Don’t arrive after 3.30 because you won’t get served. We were very disappointed as we have visited many times before.

We came across this cafe on are visit WOW was we surprised how quaint n friendly this place was service was excellent and we had sandwiches but they was delicious 😋 But if you go there you definitely need to go into the back garden it is amazing 👏 all the tables Ave there own private little area and it's very dog friendly would certainly reccomend you seek this place out

Best scones ever! Great food & service all round.

The hidden back garden is a lovely place to have a drink or food. I had a fruit scone with spread and jam which was vegan. Had the choice of soya or oat milk for a coffee. Also saw a vegan ginger cake and pasty. Fairly priced and the scone was delicious. Thank you.

Popped in for quick bite & cuppa ..was quite a wait for cold sandwich and coffee .. when my sandwich arrived the plate it come on was that small crisps wouldn't stop on the plate all was on table which put me off !!

10 out of 10, amazing freshly made rustic food, good portions beautifully presented. Friendly staff wonderful environment its a must for all.

Fab food,fab service you honestly couldn't fault it

We have visited Market Street on a few occasions now and can't complain about the quality of food. We decided on a cooked breakfast this morning and were again impressed by the food. But come on.... charging £1.75 EACH for the following extra items (one small grilled tomato, a handful of mushrooms and hashbrowns) is a RIP OFF. These should be standard on a cooked breakfast anyway. Can get better value elswhere. Be prepared to pay over £33 for 2 small breakfasts!

A delicious range of cakes and good coffee. My wife is dairy intolerant and d they had two or three cake options for her. A great atmosphere and good music/vibe that wasn’t intrusive. Looks like a good menu, but we just had coffee and cake.

I just adore this place! My mum and I have been coming here for a number of years, whenever we travel down to Devon. The food is always amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. Not to mention our dogs love the treats on offer. Highly recommend!

The worst experience ever, I came here with a friend and I had a hot chocolate, not only where the staff rude and unwelcoming they charged me an extra £2.50 for cream and marshmallows on my hot chocolate. Definitely will not be going again. Appsolute rip off!!

One of the friendliest places I have ever been to for breakfast and the food was amazing too! They even allowed dogs so our well behaved pooch joined us also. Will defo return when back in the area. Thanks for the great service

5 star for food. However, we were shown to a table then . . . ignored (it is table service) A lady they knew came in and was seated then the same lady who showed US to our seat served her. We are local (by virtue of having lived in Barnstaple for the last 40 odd years and my husband being born in Braunton. I too am a Devonian) I would like to be able to say we had a lovely visit. The first time we came a few months ago was very different. My husband wanted to leave, but eventually he went to the counter. We felt quite uncomfortable tbh. When we did get our food, it was delicious and the staff who brought it were very friendly.

Such a beautifully set up cafe! The artwork displayed within showcased the talent of local artists whilst we enjoyed some great coffee and delicious scones.

I get the whole “Devon food not fast food” written on the wall, but it really shouldn’t take 50 minutes to get from walking in the door to having lunch in front of you. Guessing they were short staffed or something. The food was really tasty once it arrived, and their hot chocolate was a genuinely great one.

Always pay a visit here when we're in the area. The café changed hands about a year ago but this has not changed the quality of food available. The cakes are particularly good. Only open 10 - 4 which means you have to get in quick to order a breakfast option (1130 finish). Gets busy around 12 for the lunch sitting (from 1130). Dogs are welcome.

So glad to have discovered this lovely welcoming cafe in Appledore. All the staff were friendly and thank you to one lady in particular who was very understanding of our large nervous dog, she let us sit in the corner and made us feel really welcome. The tea, coffee and cakes were delicious, just the little afternoon pick me up we needed after a long day walking. We hope to visit again when we’re in the area ☺️ thank you.

Great little cafe in Appledore. Always really good food and service and the garden is lovely if the sun is shining. Well worth a visit if you are browsing the quaint shopping lanes.

Josie and staff are super friendly, helpful and always accommodating. The food is delicious and fresh and the garden and ‘shed’ are an absolute bonus. Prices are reasonable unlike some other establishments in the area who charge eye watering prices!!!! Definitely worth a visit if in Appledore.

Breakfast with the family. It ended up being a little more expensive than I thought. But it was tremendous all round. Not just another generic breakfast. The scrambled eggs had buttery character, the sausage was delicious and the toast was super thick sliced bread. Not just your supermarket bought rubbish. Also the cutlery was sturdy and good quality and the staff super friendly. A fixture in my top 10 U.K. breakfasts

We popped in out of the rain for a coffee. They were dog-friendly (essential for us) and very welcoming. We both love coffee and it's rare to find a really good brew. But the coffee here was exceptionally good - especially the steamed milk, which was light and creamy. Delicious!

Delicious lunch served up in a chilled out location tucked away among the lanes. I highly recommend the jacket potato with creamy mushrooms and cheddar with a side of slaw. The chai latte was excellent as well.

Lovely tea rooms with kind and friendly staff. The tables inside looked good but we walked through to the pretty terraced garden and sat in the warm autumn sunshine. There's plenty to choose and some tempting specials too. We'd stopped in for a cream tea but were a little hungry. We spotted the perfect option, half a sandwich and a scone. Delicious and well priced

What a lovely place! The staff were absolutely lovely, helpful and pleasant; suggestions for meals and reassuring themselves about dietary requirements showed their concern to make sure customers were well cared for but they also got together to try and find us a safe way to cycle out of Appledore. We both opted for the vegan Keralan pasties and these were delicious; the good healthy food was so welcome after a long ride. There were many other things on the menu that we wanted to try but time was against us because of the long ride back to Petrockstowe. Highly recommended.

Wow!! Just returned home after a fabulous high tea for 5 people. Mother in Iaw was down staying with us so thought we'd treat her. The staff were amazing, nothing was to much trouble for them and the cakes were delicious. We particularly liked the fact that we had savoury and sweet scones, all of which got eaten. We will definitely be back soon! We will definitely be back

Paid £6 for two awful cheese scones, no taste hardly any cheese! Undercooked and doughy and not freshly made, avoid them. Shame really, usually the food is good.

After a nice walk around Appledore we stopped in this lovely little cafe for a cream tea. The scones were really nice and fresh and plenty of cream and jam and a nice big pot of tea for my husband and myself to share. Lots of nice paintings on the walls in the cafe, which are for sale and are by local artists I believe, there was also a nice selection of teas and jams for sale. The cafe is dog friendly, overall a really nice place with very friendly staff.

Found this cafe by chance today and so glad we did. We had a lovely cream tea, mine gluten free and my husband was given a free slice of cake to take away ( it’s his birthday) To top it all our dog was welcomed and given a biscuit too! Fabulous welcome, food and great value for money, we will be returning and recommending to all.

A hidden gem in a wonderful part of north Devon. I had the sausage and bean casserole which was tasty and filling and the others members of my family enjoyed their cheese and bacon open toasties.

Having visited previously today’s visit was really disappointing. On arrival we did not receive a warm welcome, however we sat down and ordered with a really lovely waitress. We looked forward to receiving our coffees, oranges and breakfasts. After sitting there for 30 minutes and watching people who came in after us be served their drinks and food, I went to speak to the older lady who appeared in charge (the first lady we encountered). She was very abrupt and informed me there were 2 ordering systems (clearly only one till) and looking at the tickets I could see ours was still at the back, with others having been put in front of ours who had arrived later. No apology given or acknowledgment of my complaint- we promptly left and travelled to tea on the green in Westward Ho! and had a wonderful lunch - would definitely not recommend unless you are on of her regular customers who clearly take a priority.

Wow you have to come here its absolutely brilliant if the weather is ok I would recommend sitting in the garden The cream teas are the best in North Devon by a country mile suburb

Served quickly delicious food and even made our fussy toddler a small plate of all her favourites! Even made a big fuss over our dog. We got cakes to take away and they were amazing!
